Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the powerful suction and long battery life as significant advantages. The vacuum's ease of use and lightweight design are also frequently praised, along with the useful attachments. While some find the price to be a drawback, minor concerns were raised regarding the trigger mechanism and the size of the dust canister.

My first Dyson. After hearing and reading amazing reviews about this brand, i am quite disappointed. The suction is not as power as ive been led to believe. I doesn't pick up anything on the backstroke. I like theany attachments, but other than that, its nothing special.

I’ve been through many different vacuums, but this was my first Dyson and it seems to live up to its hype. Unpacking the box was like a little mini game, finding all the little parts in their own little cardboard holders. I didn’t even realize it came with so many parts. But, getting up and running was a breeze. The first thing I went to was my carpet that just attracts the shepherd's hair like it is trying to weave a new carpet. One pass and instant difference. With my other vacuum I would have to go over it 5-6 times or even grab the hand held attachments. Ok, I figure, it’s a new vacuum, clearly that is why it is doing better. I’ve been doing my house and my dad’s house for a few weeks now and still looking good. The rest of my house is hard floor and the carbon fiber head with the “Fluffy Optics” is perfect. That little green light really does expose the stuff on the floor that you don’t normally see. Meanwhile, noticing the difference on the floor with every pass. Unlike the main carpet head though, this one does collect a bit of hair on the ends. The rest of the included parts are great for all the detail cleaning, but like most vacuums these days, you don’t get much space to store them. There are 2 spots on the wall mount, but only the skinny parts can clip there, and there is a piece to snap 2 to the main wand, but also, restricted to the smaller pieces. The crevice tool is interesting, with its own LED lighting the way into those dark areas, but it has air holes on the side that can’t be closed off when you want that full power at the end. This is also where I feel you need to get 1 more piece to make it perfect. Sold separately in their store, the extension hose makes using these small tools so much easier. Trying to lift the whole unit with the stiff attachment to dust a shelf is a bit difficult. Using it to clean a car in that confined space, even more so. When done with cleaning, emptying the container is pretty simple, provided you don’t have a bunch of dog hair now stuck in the grill. However, cleaning it is easy enough. The directions to do so are best shown through the app, but annoying as all the directions are videos with subtitles. No talking, just pointing directions. It would be so much better if right below these, they just give the whole transcript so I don’t have to sit through minutes of video just to find 1 simple thing. Battery life is all dependent on how you use it. On max power, 15 minutes at best, but leaving it as auto, you get about 45-60 minutes, pending how much it increases power from detection of particles. The auto adjusting of power always seems to be a couple seconds behind, but if you take your time, it works out. If you want to do it quickly and make sure it has the most power the whole time, boost gets it done, you only have 15 minutes though. Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the power of this vacuum. All the attachments, and there are plenty more online, really help you do what you want to get done. It is a bit big compared to some other cordless vacs, but I haven’t seen any compare in power.

I hoped Dyson fixed issue to make easier fully empty trash bin. But, I guess not. They did raised price drastically, though. In order you to empty fully bin, you have to use some stick to pull it out and get dirt everywhere. Dyson, if you can came out with ideas, look at least around and learn from your competitors...

Unmatched Power & Precision – Dyson V15 is a Clean

I’ve been using the Dyson V15 Detect Extra for over a month now, and it has exceeded all my expectations. It’s not just a vacuum—it’s a smart cleaning machine that makes vacuuming more effective, even satisfying! Laser Detection: The laser on the soft roller head is brilliant. It reveals dust I never knew was there—especially on hardwood floors. You can actually see what you’re cleaning. Suction Power & Auto Mode: This thing is powerful. The suction adjusts automatically depending on how dirty the area is. It’s noticeably more powerful than previous Dyson models I’ve used, and it works equally well on rugs and hard floors. Battery Life: The battery lasts long enough to clean my entire 3-bedroom house on one charge. I usually use it on Auto mode, and it easily gives me 45–60 minutes of runtime. LCD Screen & Real-Time Info: The LCD screen is surprisingly useful—it shows battery time remaining, maintenance alerts, and even types of particles being picked up. Great touch for data nerds! Accessories Galore: It comes with 10 accessories, including a hair screw tool that’s fantastic for pet hair. Switching between tools is smooth and easy, and the wall-mounted dock keeps it organized. Noise Level & Weight: It’s not too loud, and the weight distribution makes it comfortable to hold—even during longer sessions. It’s lightweight enough for stairs and high corners. Final Verdict: This is hands down the best cordless vacuum I’ve ever owned. If you want powerful, intelligent cleaning with all the bells and whistles, the Dyson V15 Detect Extra is absolutely worth the investment.

I bought this vacuum aiming for the top of the line Dyson. It worked great for 6 months and then starting having airflow issues. Dyson sent me a new main body and cyclone. This one was even worse than the original one that I had. I contacted them again and they said I would need to send it in for repairs which would take 15-21 business days. How do they expect me to be without a vacuum for a month? No other solutions offered. This is my first and last Dyson product.

This is my first Dyson and the first time using one in a very long time if every. I always thought they were just hyped up and overpriced vacuum cleaners. I was wrong, very wrong in fact and I'm glad to have the Dyson V15 Detect! I was suspect of this being a battery operated one because battery operated devices sometimes have less power or the power diminishes when low. I would only purchase plug in ones because I wanted the most power I could get. The Dyson V15 blows any plug-in vacuum I have ever had! The power is significant and does not diminish when the battery gets low. It was so powerful that it was picking up one of my smaller rugs when vacuuming. The battery does last a decent amount of time. I was able to vacuum my whole house about 3,000 square feet and had battery left over. The battery is removable so it should be an easy replacement if ever needed. On the vacuum there is a little menu that lets you choose power boost, eco, or auto for the power/battery. I tried boost and it makes the vacuum work at a high speed to give better suction. This is great for dog hair stuck in a fabric! I mostly use the vacuum on the auto setting. When in auto it will turn up the power when it detects more dirt, then goes back to a lower speed on lighter dirt. The display also shows the particulate matter that it sucked up. I'm not sure how accurate the display can show the different particulates, but it is still nice to have a little display to show that your vacuuming effort was worth it. The Dyson V15 comes with lots of attachments, pretty much anything you need to vacuum is covered. I was able to try most of them out and saw that they worked really well. We have short hair dogs and their fur is imbedded into our sofa. I have tried like three or four different vacuums and nothing will pull it out. So my first test with this Dyson was to use the Hair Screw Tool and see if it would work on the sofa. To my surprise it worked very well and was able to clean up a lot of the hair. Next I used the Digital Motorbar, which can be used on all floors but I just tried it on our rugs. It also worked better than expected and pulled up so much hair and dirt. The Crevice Tool, yeah its just a crevice tool, but it also lights up! I thought it was just gimmicky, but actually found the light to be helpfully when cleaning in hard to see or dark spaces. The soft dusting brush was nice to use on curtains, pictures, etc. My favorite is the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head. This is one where it lights up the floor green to show you dirt. Again I thought why is this a thing, then after using it, it totally makes sense! We have gray laminate flooring throughout the house, it hides a lot of dog hair, dirt, and dust. I thought my floors where pretty clean, but then using the Lase Cleaner Head it showed my floors where covered in dust and dog hair. The green laser makes it super easy to see all of this so you can do a better job at vacuuming. I now use this brush head anytime I vacuum the floors so I can make sure to get everything vacuumed up. It also comes with a Low-reach adaptor which is super handy to clean under furniture. Under my bed was a mess because we could never get the vacuum under them to clean, this attachment made the task super easy. Cleanup is simple, remove attachments, go to garbage can, pull red lever and all the dirt goes right into the trash. My prior stick vacuum whenever I would empty it, I would have dirt spill out or not go directly in the trash. There is also a docking station that you can mount to the wall. The docking station holds two attachments and can charge the vacuum. I really feel like Dyson thought of everything that a person would do with a vacuum and put it into this one. The build quality is great, it works great, the attachments are great, everything is great with this vacuum! If you need a new vacuum that can clean your home, car, whatever needs cleaning, this is the one to get!

I never thought I’d be excited about vacuuming, but the Dyson V15 Detect Extra changed that. It’s super powerful and has some really cool features that actually make cleaning kind of fun. The green laser shows dust you wouldn’t normally see, which is both gross and satisfying. The suction is great and automatically adjusts depending on the surface or how dirty it is. I love the digital display—it shows battery life and even tracks the dust it’s picking up, which is pretty cool. The battery lasts long enough for me to clean the whole house, and all the accessories it comes with are super useful for stairs, furniture, tight spaces, and even the car. It’s a bit pricey and slightly heavier than I expected, but overall, it feels totally worth it. If you want a cordless vacuum that actually makes you want to clean, this is the one

The Dyson V15 Detect is an absolute game-changer—hands down the best vacuum I’ve ever owned! From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this wasn’t your average cordless vacuum. The sleek, modern design is matched by serious cleaning power that tackles everything from pet hair to fine dust with ease. What truly sets the V15 Detect apart is the laser dust detection—it’s not a gimmick, it’s a revolution. The green laser illuminates even the tiniest dust particles on hard floors, making cleaning strangely satisfying and borderline addictive. You see the dirt vanish before your eyes. And the real-time LCD screen? Genius. It shows exactly what’s being picked up, breaking down particles by size and adjusting suction power automatically. The suction is unbelievably powerful, especially for a cordless model. It rivals (and in many cases beats) full-sized corded vacuums. The battery life is impressive, too—I can clean multiple rooms without needing a recharge, and the interchangeable battery option adds extra flexibility. Emptying the bin is mess-free and simple, and the included tools are high-quality and genuinely useful. The anti-tangle hair screw tool is a lifesaver for anyone with pets or long hair. Bottom line: the Dyson V15 Detect is worth every penny. It makes cleaning faster, more efficient, and (dare I say) kind of fun. If you’re even remotely considering upgrading your vacuum, this is the one to get. You won’t look back.

In a home of 3-4, depending on when my son is at college, with 2 dogs and 4 cats and a wife recently diagnosed with cat, dust and mold allergies. We bought a Dyson Ball corded vacuum years ago that served us well but wanted something cordless. I had always thought that the laser light was some kind of gimmick, but Oh My God! When you see what is all over the hardwood floors every day it changes what you think about yourself and how clean you think you are! Even with a Roomba cleaning the floors 3 days a week i am amazed how much dust, lint, dog hair, cat hair and long human hair is all over the house. Again thought beforehand that the numbers of particles and such that it shows on the small LCD screen was a gimmick but not after seeing it with my own eyes! I can’t say enough how amazing this vacuum is because you have to see it yourself. I happened to get it on a good sale but it is worth the full price. Hands down this is the best money I’ve spent this year.

I purchased the Dyson V15 Detect in December 2024, and I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with it! It’s super lightweight and feels so sturdy — it’s clear that Dyson put a lot of thought into the design. The laser light on the head is honestly a total revelation! It illuminates dust on my hardwood floors that I didn’t even know was there, and I love that it makes cleaning more efficient. The suction power is incredible. I have both hardwood floors and carpets, and it handles both effortlessly. The High Torque head makes my carpets feel like new, picking up dirt I didn't even know was deep down. The soft roller head is great for my floors, picking up every speck of dust and debris without scratching. What’s really cool is the piezo sensor that automatically adjusts the suction depending on what it detects on the floor. It’s like the vacuum knows exactly what it’s dealing with, and it maximizes battery life too, which is awesome. Speaking of battery, I’m getting around 60 minutes on the lowest setting, which is more than enough for my space. I love how everything stores neatly in the charging dock. It looks super sleek and keeps everything organized. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my Dyson V15 Detect! It’s worth every penny and has completely changed the way I clean my home. If you’re on the fence, just go for it — you won’t regret it!

4/5 - Needs Battery Adapter to Reach Greatness

Pros: Light weight Many attachments Suprising suction power Cons: No 3rd party battery attachment (yet) Battery is proprietary Price In the time I have owned this vacuum it has been used to pick up a variety of messes - spilt kitty litter, hair, pet fur, dirt, dust, etc. I am surprised by what it is able to pick up- it has had no trouble picking up kitty litter spilt on carpet. General use is easy - easy to move, easy to empty, easy to swap attachments. The main reasons I give this 4 and not 5 stars is the full price - you should try and get it on sale during a promo for $550 - and the fact that there is not a battery adapter for this device to use batteries from DeWalt/Milwaukee yet. There is an older model Dyson that does have this, so its just a matter of time (hopefully). But in the meantime, if I am held captive by the company where I can only buy their product as a replacement for something that breaks or wears out, then they lose a star. Overall it is convenient, handy, and easy to use. And if you get it for the right price I think its a good enough investment.

This is a beast !The suction on this vacuum is amazing I’m being honest with you! Not doing this for anything but for people on the fence! Pro’s 1-Suction 2-Awesome feature is the green dust light on the bare floor head!! I used my corded all in one type vac & then used my 1st. Dyson unreal the amount of dust / dirt still remained after using it ?then going over it again with the Dyson !! Awesome 3-The powered head for furniture really works great 4/Easily assembled 5-Easiest I ever had to dump out the crap you sucked up I mean seriously never seen this method before! SO EASY TO EMPTY THE DUST!Do you know how many vacuums that I couldn’t line up correctly to empty it & take the filter out to change or wash it ?only to spend 20 minutes trying to put it back together and then stripping the little plastic tabs??? Con’s; 1 price ya it has cool tech and graphs on the display showing you how much dust mites you sucked up and whatever the other things on it’s digital display but .. 2- plastic attachments and overall from the tube down seems awfully cheaply or flimsy made ? I have had this for a month nothing broke but it’s just you feel like you can easily break it so I try not to bump anything with it and I put the attachment in a separate area that can’t be damaged if I kept it on and a pet (dog)or family member bumps into or steps on I don’t know? I don’t trust it to not get damaged! 3-I wish it had a hose attachment or extension tube to use on areas that are high up like the top of the window ?Yup I know it’s not a floor model which typically have this on them. But for the price this vac should come with a butler ;) but seriously the performance is awesome so you get what you pay for. 4-This beast is seriously too heavy way more than I have ever had !so you can tire easily using attachments that only requires the top 1/2 of the vac!! Still the performance easily ok’s it! 4.1 weight is always going to be top heavy that’s why I wish from the tube down to the attachments the materials used deserves a better quality than this plastic add a little more weight using some parts metal or just heavier without making it like pushing a snowblower I HAVE USED MANY VACS OVER YEARS BOTH CORDED & CORDLESS FROM BISSEL TO THE SHARKS AND ALL OF THEM WERE NOT WIFE PROOF LOL SHE TENDS TO VACUUMING EVERYTHING THATS NOT NAILED DOWN NO MATTER THE SIZE ;( AND NONE OF THEM COMES CLOSE THE ONLY OTHER I HAD THAT WAS GREAT WAS A KIRBY …STILL PAYING FOR IT LOL JKING. Despite this I WOULD STILL BUY IT!!

Quick Overview ================================= The Dyson V15 Detect Extra is Dyson's most powerful vacuum to-date with a ton of accessories and a key new feature that may make it the best choice for those with pets, lots of long hair, and hard floors. This specific model from Best Buy also includes a pivoting right-angle tool that will help you get low under tables or furniture or high onto a ledge or shelf. Overall build and setup ================================= If you haven't used/owned a Dyson vacuum before, you're getting arguably one of the best-engineered vacuums out there. Much time (and money) have been spent on technology and R&D to develop a new suction method to provide powerful suction and filtration without losing power over time. The build is mostly plastic with their signature style including a bottom-mounted battery which leads to a grip that connects to the central suction/canister areas. You'll see a much larger canister here than on the older/smaller v6-8 models. See my pictures for a size comparison with a V7. Overall it's well-balanced and comfortable to hold. You get a ton of attachments, some which require a special callout: --Main shaft, crevice tool, right-angle adapter, fine brush, coarse brush w/extension, wall mount, carrying clip (for your favorite tool) and... --Fluffy Optic - this is made for hard floors and is the standout new one that has a low-angle green laser that illuminates dust (so much dust!) --Anti-Tangle Comb - this head is good for all floors and has high-torque to really get things clean. It has a special feature to keep hair off the rollers --Anti-Tangle Screw Hair Tool - this narrow head has a "screw" design which should ball up hair for pickup so it doesn't wrap around the vacuum filter in the canister One big thing you'll want to know: This doesn't have a push-button on/off. This is a trigger that must be held to use. For those that don't/can't use trigger-style vacuums, you may need to shop around. The first thing you'll want to do is plug it in to charge fully, then complete the setup which consists of selecting your language (English, in this case) and battery mode (Eco for longest life, lowest suction; Medium, for automatic adjustments; High for maximum power). Another thing you'll note is there's no mention of HEPA filtration on this model, but they do talk about the ability to filter up to 0.3 microns and expel cleaner air. Performance ================================= This is a powerful vacuum! In a house with no pets, but three girls with long hair, this grabbed hair on floors, carpets, and rugs without issue. I will say that some hair did get onto the internal filter in the canister, but perhaps we didn't get everything using the Screw Hair Tool first. I believe the "order of operations" should be to use the Screw Hair Tool to get your hair/fur off of most surfaces first, then use the proper tool for hard floors or carpets (Fluffy Optic or "standard" with Anti-Tangle Comb). After that, you'd use the smaller brushes, crevice tool, etc. As you vacuum with the Fluffy Optic, you'll see things you wish you could unsee... Yes, that bright green laser which is precisely angled will highlight all the dust and dander that you never really noticed before. It's literally an eye-opener in terms of clearly seeing what you're vacuuming up and what you've left behind (or not yet gotten to). For completionists and power-washer fans, it's a great attachment that will help you see your progress. On top of that, the rear face of the V15 shows you a bar graph with 4 categories based on the size of the particles being sucked up! From tiny allergens to crumbs/sugar-sized ones, you can see what you're cleaning. For those with allergies or sensitivity to fine dust, this can really help show if you've done a good enough job cleaning or not. I plan to establish somewhat of a "baseline" by keeping track of the numbers and seeing if there's any improvement as I continue to vacuum over a week/month/etc. It'd be nice if the Dyson app (used to register your V15) provided more than just marketing info, usage guides, and rudimentary troubleshooting. What if it could keep track of your stats for you? High-power mode is great, but short-lived. I didn't run down the battery, but only use this when you really need it. As for Eco mode, I could see that doing a great job if you have a lot of hard floors to clean with just dust to worry about. It should last near the stated 60-minute runtime. As for medium/auto, this is probably the best default mode if you're dealing with mixed surfaces and possible fur/hair along with dust and crumbs. You can hear the motor/suction adjusting as you vacuum based on what types/size particles it's detecting. We're getting more than 30 minutes of runtime in this mode which is enough to take care of vacuuming tasks, especially if you do it once a week or more often. How did the V15 Detect deal with 3 girls' long hair? Well, it did get them off any surface we had, but cleaning the canister wasn't as easy as just pushing the release into a bin. The long hair (> 16") did get tangled around the internal filters so it required removing the entire clear canister to get the hair (and dust) off. I would not recommend doing this inside since things get messy. Doing this outside, halfway into your trash bin or bag is best, and watch out for the wind direction! Conclusion ================================= I'd say this is the probably the best cleaning tool we have in the house to-date. We also use a Dyson V7 and an LG CordZero A9. Compared to those, this V15 Detect is certainly bigger and more powerful. Unlike the LG, there's a trigger-mechanism here which may be a deal-breaker for some. Overall though, I do love the Fluffy Optic brush with the green dust illuminator. There's no doubt your floors are getting cleaner when you can literally see the dust that you may have left behind with your other vacuums. Not only that, you can see the stats on the back of the vacuum, showing the types of particles you're getting. I'd say this vacuum (or one of Dyson's other HEPA ones) along with some good air filters should keep homes squeaky-clean for those that are sensitive to dust and dander. I can't stress this enough, the illumination is literally eye-opening and will show you more dust than you care to know you have! This Dyson V15 Detect Extra has definitely made it into the regular cleaning rotation and I think the V7 is about to retire as a small "spot" or car vacuum.

I would recommend this to a friend
