Amazingly strong suction. Convenient and light. Great for pets. Only problem is that it doesn’t last long enough for me and I would love something to keep all attachments on hand.

This is my first Dyson product. Reading the reviews, i was cautious in my expectations. During the holidays when i purchased on sale for $299 i had to try it out. My expectation was this was not going to be as good as a regular stand-up vacuum, but if it will have enough suction to be handy...i would be happy. This has lived up to the that. It does not do a great job on my carpet, but it will get most particles off it...it does not leave those vacuum suction marks. Bare floor it is excellent as you would imagine. The deal winner is portability and usefulness in quick mess pickup. At first the battery time was an issue. By default mine was set to max mode and the first several times i experienced the dreaded 6 min run-time. Then for the heck of it i hit the max button and then i could hear the sound of the lowered rpms and i was able to clean more than 1 room. The attachments are fun and help with various tasks. Since the performance with the carpet brush is not mind blowing, i opt to mainly use the bar floor tool and not go through the hassle of swapping attachments. The bare floor tool works on the carpet, just not a good as the carpet attachment...which for me like i said isn't that impressive.
I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to certain people. This is not meant to thoroughly clean your whole house once a week. This is intended for quick daily or several times a week tasks. So make your decision and money you are willing to pay for that! That is the best advice i can give. It is very easy and fun to use.

Good for a smaller home

I found this is a perfect fit for me and my home with a lot of hardwood and tile floors. It also helps that I don't have pets. If my situation were different, this wouldn't be ideal for me. The biggest drawback to the vacuum is the short battery life and long charge time. The filter cover is also placed awkwardly above the handle and I sometimes knock it off accidentally. As for the performance, the vacuum is fantastic. I'd get all the attachments if possible, because I use them all. Also, if you use this nonstop without giving it a break (in the 16 minutes the battery lasts) it will overheat and shut down. Like I said, small house without a lot of traffic is the ideal situation for this particular style vacuum. Otherwise, I'd steer clear as you won't like having to vacuum your home with three hour breaks in between charge times.

I have always been impressed by Dyson vacuums, this cordless vacuum compliments my full-size dc41. The vacuum neatly mounts to the wall. The vacuum has great suction, I use it primarily on hardwood floors. The hard floor attachment picks up great and doesn't scatter anything across the floor. It also works very well on pet hair.
The only drawback is the battery life. It will last for about 20 minutes of continuous use before dying. That is normally more than enough time to vacuum the floors in my house.

I work from home and take care the Homefront and I tell you what this Dyson is great at cleaning up. We have new wood floors and this monster keeps them that way day in and day out. It is so agile and light. A must have for people that want a quick vacuum to move around with out running a cord. I also use it for my car which is way better than a typical shop vac.

I would have never guessed something this small and lightweight would perform so well and demonstrate such high quality. No regrets at all about this purchase. It's worth the cost without any doubt. We use it more than we thought we would. Battery life is surprisingly long and the suction power is really amazing. It's way more versatile than any vacuum we've ever owned and we have gone through many that are literally disposable.

What a big help! I have two Bengal cats and a dog. I needed something to use daily to vacuum my kitchen area. When you sweep, dust and pet hair get in the air and on your counter tops. With this cordless vacuum I can easily get it out and clean my floors without having to wipe all my counters down and breath in the dust and hair that gets stired up with sweeping. It's easy to assemble, change and empty! The only downside is when you use it at full power I have about 6 minutes to get the floor done. Sometimes I run out of time when I decide to go under and behind things and it takes a while to recharge. But with that much power and convenience I wouldn't expect it to last a very long time and be light enough to use easily. I really need to get the upright for my deeper cleanings. I'm saving for it now! Great product! Expensive but worth it to me. The cheaper ones don't do half the job and don't least very long.

Let me start by saying I had a full size purple Dyson animal, for a long time.
When we down sized and moved into an apartment we needed something smaller, but still with a lot of power. We have a Australian Shepard, who sheds like pig pen loses dirty.
The Dyson Absolute does what it claims, picks up great, maneuvers in small places amazingly and operates for about 20 minutes before it needs recharging.
So if this is what you are looking for it is worth the money.

Pros:
-High quality made.
-Light in weight then I previously expected.
-It works the way it's described.
Not a Con, but not a Pro:
-Can confirm that the battery life is limited up to 12 to 15 minutes. Sometimes it will last for 10 minutes of use.
-Suction may not be as strong as I originally expected, but it will get the job done after leaving it on for a while.
-Container below the vortex funnels, the plastic container is somewhat difficult to reattach to the unit once it's been removed.
-Unit is loud when the trigger-switch is engaged. Sounds like a wind blower meets a boeing 747 engine toned down, but there's a noticeable higher pitch whine.
Con:
-Price is debateable between a non-hepa filter versus a hepa-filter for a difference of a $100. It may not be necessary, imo.
Other:
-I gave this product 5/5 stars due to the fact that this product met my expectations, and the reviews from a majority of other members are confirmed. No additional, bad traits were found about the unit.

Love the power on these vacuums. Hated vacuuming because who wants to lug around a huge vacuum around the whole house? With this, you get the power with less weight. My only beef with this product is the battery life. You get like 20 minutes of heavy use. Since we live in a smaller loft, this has not been too much of an issue but if you live in a bigger house, I would consider something else. If you are forking over $500 for a product, you would want it to complete any job you bought the item is intended to do.

Being a very frugal person, I was hesitant to spend this much on a cordless vac, but read that the battery can be replaced, and it's the only cordless I read about that keeps allergens sealed within. A hepa filter means nothing without a tight seal and great suction.
I also was concerned about it running out of charge quickly. That hasn't been a problem, because you can cover a lot of ground in a hurry, and it recharges quickly, so just take a short break. Also, using it is quick and almost fun, so every time I see a spider web , I grab it for a minute. I'm vacuuming more often ( I hate corded vacs.), so I seldom need to devote a lot of time at once. The power is as good as any corded vacs. I've used.. I empty the canister outdoors, due to allergies.
My only complaint would be that dusting with the attachments added to the extension tube is awkward. I also was concerned about where I could hang this to charge without causing eyesore. The body is small, so instead of hanging , it can sit on the living room floor, camouflaged by furniture, with the tube disconnected and hidden behind a cabinet. It can go under a sofa or upholstered chair, etc.
I have an Electrolux cordless, that I've enjoyed, but when it's battery started to go after 2 yrs, I noticed thick dust buildup on the exterior of an unremovable foam filter on top of the vac., indicating that I'm breathing dust coming out, and decided to upgrade to the best cordless I could find for allergy control. I'm glad I sprung for the best Dyson makes. I've only had it about 2 mo., but so far, I'm impressed.

We have a Dyson Animal and are using that at our vacation home, so we bought a V6 Absolute for our house here in Columbus. Love love love Dyson. So easy to use - no cord! - and versatile with all the attachments, not to mention terrific cleaning power.

Wow, why did we wait so long. We absolutely love this Dyson. It works great and picks up all the dog hair from our German Shepherd and two Chihuahuas. It has plenty of battery power to allow me to go over our laminate flooring and a room rug and even our furniture . I love all the attachments too. It's great to be able to stay on top of all the dog hair.

This is an excellent product. But like all products, you need the right tool for the job at hand. In our case, arthritis makes heavy objects with hoses or even upright vacuums too difficult to work with for light duty cleaning. This particular model is cordless, light weight, and easy to change attachments, and works in all kinds of nooks and crannies. This battery powered unit is not some power monster, but what it does do, it does very well. Battery lasts about 20 minutes, only about 6 minutes on Turbo mode (super suction!). So this is not a whole house vacuum, This is more of a quick clean up, get to hard to reach places or do a couple rooms before company arrives.

Honestly you think it won't work well because there's a lot of noise when you operate it but the doesn't spin the brush very fast. It's actually really powerful and does a great job. I wish the battery lasted a little longer than 25 minutes but without an extended battery life offered you can't fix that yet.

I finally pulled the trigger and decided to try a Dyson vacuum. I was always hesitant because of the price and also because of the love/hate relationship consumers seem to have. It was on sale for Black Friday so I bought it. I have had this vacuum for a couple weeks and I have to say I enjoy it. It's light and quiet. There is plenty of charge in my opinion for what you use it for. I love being able to grab this vacuum and taking it with me all around the house to do quick and easy clean up. Especially the stairs. It was so quiet that at first I kept testing out to see if there was suction. I have never had a vacuum this quiet. This vacuum is a must for me. I had a Shark Rocket stick vacuum in the past. I loved the vacuum and definitely recommend it, but I wanted cordless. I still recommend keeping a corded heavy duty vacuum. For one, if your vacuum isn't charged, it's nice to have a backup. Second, if you want a heavy duty vacuum it's nice to have one. I honestly wouldn't have bought this if it wasn't on sale though. The price is high. If you can catch a sale though, definitely grab it. One last con for me is that the canister is a bit small. I know they made it bigger and easier in the new absolute, so they did address that and a stronger battery. If you are going to pay full price for a Dyson, get the V8 Absolute. I don't mind emptying the canister myself. Overall, I love my Dyson and will look to purchase maybe a full size Dyson in the future. (If I can catch a sale lol)

We have had several vacuums including Kirby, shark, Hoover etc. This is by far the lightest and best we have ever had. Incredible suction super light and the battery lasts long enough to do the whole house.
