I am so disappointed, as I wanted it for so long, and finally got one. Only to experience it's basically useless. The battery, life after charging for 24 hours, is no more than 14 minutes. It doesn't produce a thorough job at all. For the price, I really was expecting much more from this Dyson vacuum.

Thanks for your review. Dyson states a 6 minute cleaning time on MAX mode and 16-20 minutes on standard mode before the battery runs out. That is because the V6 has a run time enhancing trigger – meaning that you are only using energy when you really want to be cleaning, rather than leaving it running when you’re moving furniture or moving from one room to the next. In developing the V6, Dyson engineers researched how long people like to clean, and found that the vast majority of people clean for less than 25 minutes in one session. Many people, for example those living in apartments in metropolitan areas, find 20 minutes proves to be long enough. Although if you live in a much bigger home, we would recommend that the V6 be used for in-between cleans, rather than deep whole home cleans.
Further, using a lithium ion battery pack, the V6 releases its charge evenly so there is no drop in performance. Other cordless machines may claim longer run times, but thanks to fading batteries, clogging bags and filters, they can quickly lose up to half their suction power in use.

Dyson V6 cordless vacuum cleaners have a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 20 minutes of fade free power or 17 minutes when using the motorized floor tool. MAX power will provide about 6-7 minutes of run time.

While in MAX mode, you'll receive a boost of power, making suction more powerful. In that mode, however, the trade off for more power is less run time.

Stops and starts

The Battery was not the issue. You have to disassemble the entire vacuum into several parts to clean almost all the time because my Labs pet hair gets stuck. She is not a sheepdog, so I have to use a wooden skewer to get the mounds of hair extracted because it cannot handle pet hair as it says.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this vacuum....my house is 2400 square feet and I vacuum my entire floor w one charge on normal setting....I like max setting for couches...I have three large indoor dogs so this vacuum helps me keep my floors clean...the only downside is that the charge only last 20 minutes on normal setting and about 12 on max but that doesn't bother me...upside is powerful suction, fast cleaning, and light weight.

It’s always charging and not used all that much—just me & my wife, both retired, no kids here—yet still malfunctioning after only 2 years. We never would have spent $180 for a vacuum that only lasts barely 2 years.

The Dyson V6 cordless operate in 2 modes. Out of the box, it will operate in MAX mode where you will get 6 minutes of run time with a full charge. We recommend using MAX mode for tougher jobs and switch to standard mode for basic level cleaning. It will also allow it to push easier while in this mode.
