It was not that powerful, and the cord was no longer useful. Rather than spend several hundred dollars on a new cord for an old system, we bought the Animal. Boy am I glad we did. What an amazing machine! It is powerful, goes anywhere and lasts forever.

However, there are two things I am not entirely happy with. 1). Holding the trigger continuously to operate the vacuum hurts my arthritic hands. 2) When operating there is no way to stand the vacuum up to move chairs, etc. out of the way. I have to try to prop it against something or lay it down on the floor.

It's lightweight and very convenient. But the run time is only 7 mins when you use the max mode and you can't just leave it overnight to charge. It would be nice if it will automatically stop charging when it's full.

You are correct in that MAX run time will only be about 7 minutes after a full charge. The Dyson V7 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner has a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 30 minutes of fade free power or 20 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.
When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind. You actually CAN leave your machine on the dock connected to the charger at all times; the battery will stop receiving charge once the battery is fully charged. You'll notice the LED light at the side of the machine go off once the battery is completely charged.

It works great, just not for a long enough period. I was disappointed because I have been using Dyson products for 25 years years and have always been extremely impressed. I guess I will have to wait a few years until they improve battery life.

It easily moves from carpet to hard floor and it's lightweight and very maneuverable. It has 2 power settings which is nice depending on the job. The battery is the only downfall. Brand new, it lasts for about 25mins on reg power but after about a year and a half of regular use, it's about half that. A replacement battery would be a welcomed option.

Makes it so much easier to move around the room and vacuum, especially in corners and behind furniture. I have 3 dogs so there is lots of dog hair to vacuum. Love the various attachments that come with the vacuum.

It is so easy to use. No cord to worry about going room to room. Easy to vacuum your floor to furniture. I am disappointed in Best Buy. I found the product cheaper at a couple of different retailers. Best Buy had a reason for why they would not honor the price match, very disappointed.

Good for pet owners

It was a pain to pull out my previous "pet" vacuum that never was up to the job. Now I can vacuum daily without a struggle. I do have to empty the container frequently but seeing the difference in my carpet is worth it. I love that it so lightweight.

This works great! I picks up everything from my carpets, hardwood and tile. And the attachments are great for stairs, furniture, etc. Regular suction is good, but nothing stands a chance with the max suction setting! Highly recommend.
