Buyer Beware!

I spent over $300 for this cordless vac just before Thanksgiving of 2018, and the battery already needs to be replaced ($112+ cost to me); because apparently the owner’s manual suggests storing this vac to be mounted in your “living room or hallway or bedroom”—you know, right out in the open where you store all your cleaning products—and silly me stored mine in my office closet (on the main floor next to my kitchen) and that apparently killed the battery. The Dyson customer service couldn’t have been more rude over the issue, and I explained to them that storing this ANIMAL V7 Vac out in the open isn’t an option when I have a dog in the house with a curious fetish for all things that aren’t his dog toys. Bottom line, if I want the luxury of using my cordless vac again/for the 10th time EVER—I will need to shell out the $112 to replace the battery. I thought Dyson was supposed to be sinonimus with quality products that are built right. But I guess I should know by now that there are very few products in today’s world, that Manufacturers can actually stand behind.

While we can't guarantee a lifespan for the battery due to varying factors, I can confirm that we would generally expect the battery to outlast the free 2-year guarantee provided with all new machines purchased from an authorized retailer.
While we don't expect problems to occur, the guarantee is in place to help protect against any problems that may ever arise or come up with a new purchase. I'm also happy to share that we do also have many happy cordless Dyson owners who are still enjoying some of our earlier models today. We were worried initially about the 20min runtime, but after using it, I think we're able to vacuum a bit more frequently because it's cordless and light. Our previous vacuum was heavy and had a short cord so we had to constantly unplug and replug whenever changing rooms. The runtime is proving to be "good enough". The V7 is powerful enough as well. We bought it on sale at $239, so the price was good too.

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We are sorry to hear that on thicker carpeting, you're experiencing an issue with using your V7 Animal. Your machine does feature two suction modes, regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be in MAX power, which does provide a boost of suction power. It can also make the machine harder to push. In regular power mode, you'll have less suction, but should still find that it's sufficient suction for everyday vacuuming. You can usually reserve MAX power mode for more stubborn messes/larger debris.
