Have a V-8 animal cord-free stick we use all the time and wanted to have a cheaper one but was spoiled with our V-8. Would be great for someone who has light dust/dirt. We bought another V-8 animal - us men light powerful tools.

I can confirm that the V7 model will have less suction and run time than our V8 model does. All Dyson cord-free models feature a run-time enhancing trigger, which ensures that battery power is only used when the trigger is engaged - it's not wasted when moving from room to room or around obstacles. Right out of the box, your machine will be set to MAX mode, which will provide up to 7 minutes of run time. MAX power is generally reserved for more stubborn messes or larger debris. When not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 30 minutes of fade free power or 20 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.

I should have read more reviews before purchasing.

I can confirm that if you do fully deplete the battery, it can take 3.5 hours to recharge. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 30 minutes of fade free power or 20 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.
When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.
