I had one of the earliest models with only 20 minutes of run time. It still runs after many years of use. This model is slightly larger and runs for a much longer period of time. It has better suction and more tools. We have a shark corded vacuum and the Dyson works better than the Shark.

This vacuum is much lighter and easier to use than my old Dyson Animal ball vacuum. I have 2 cats and it picks their hair up with no problem. When using this vacuum for carpet and I need to switch to a different attachment there is no way to do it by foot. I have to lay the vacuum down take off one attachment and add the other and then do it again to put the original attachment back on...and there is no attachment holder on the vacuum so I carry them from room to room. I've had this vacuum for about 1 month. Overall it does a great job on the cat litter in the carpeting and the cat hair and it's easy to use which is why I chose this vacuum.

I purchased this after a friend recommended it. It is fantastic. You can leave it plugged in without damaging it, which is unlike my other cordless vacuum. It stays charged for approx. 30-40 minutes. It is very powerful. I have 2 cats and it does a fantastic job with cat hair.

I was a bit skeptical about buying a cordless, but am so glad I did. This vacuum is extremely light weight, fits in tight corners, and is easy to empty. Does a great job on hard floors as well as carpet. Actually, the carpet cleaning was more than just a little impressive. In addition to these great features, it converts into a compact handheld for your car. Yes, the battery charge doesn't last forever (40 minutes on regular, 20 minutes on max), but I don't want to vacuum longer than that EVER! Comes with a holder to mount on the wall to store the vacuum. Will also charge will in holder. Will charge without holder too.

I swore that I would never spend the money on a Dyson but was in need of a battery powered vac and Dyson had the best reviews. I have used this vacuum extensively over the past few weeks and it has been a flawless performer. The suction is good on the low power setting and outstanding on the high power setting. It has performed well on wood floors and carpets as well. The amount of dust and carpet debris that it picks up from a what appeared to be clean carpet is amazing. I mounted the docking station in a closet and the vacuum is easy to get in and out of this station. It is much easier to use than the canister vac for cleaning up small spills in the kitchen and other areas. It is battery powered so you are not going to clean your whole house on one battery charge when using the powered attachments - this is to be expected. You may get two rooms worth of vacuuming done using the powered heads before the battery is depleted.

Love my V8 Absolute! It has about the same suction in "Powerful Suction" as my V6 had in "Max Mode". And in "Powerful Suction", the battery lasts much longer than the previous models, including the V6. Instead of 8 minutes on the V6, I get the advertised 40 minutes on the more powerful V8. The "touchless" bin is so much advanced over previous models! Your hands do not touch the dirt & the capacity is larger. The wand (long pick-up tube) is coated with an anti scratch paint. My older Dysons really showed the scratches as you bumped the suction tube against metal, for example, under a bar stool, when you vacuum under the foot rest. The V8 does not scratch because of the new tough coating! The V8 is much quieter than the V6, or any previous Dyson. It has noise reduction chambers built-in & they are very effective. The new gentle push to release accessory button (big red button) is so much easier than pushing hard & tugging the V6 & all older Dyson stick vacs. Older accessories will not fit the V8, so buy the Absolute & get all of the tools at a substantial savings in the box. 3) blue indicator LED's show the relative charge level at a glance - much improved over the single "Charging" LED on V6 & earlier models. The motor head made for carpets has a more powerful motor built-in than the V6 & earlier models. It really pulls the dirt out of carpeting!

Dyson lives up to its name and it works like a champ. I have had no issues with it holding a charge or running dead before doing the whole house, both carpet and tile. Excellent selection of attachments included especially for furniture and even cleaning your car.

I have had the vacuum for about a month. I will break my experience into a list of pros and cons. Pros: - great suction - several attachments (hardwood attachment is life changing) - easy to maneuver under dressers, tables etc. - no more annoying electric cord - charging station/base is mounted on wall and you can attach the attachments to it - two settings - regular suction and maximum suction - easy to dump the waste out Cons: - Poor battery life - regular suction drains a full battery in about 25 minutes; maximum suction drains a full battery in about 7 minutes. - Gets VERY warm on the maximum suction setting (not so much on regular suction) - Takes about 4-5 hours to charge. Overall, I love this vacuum. I had no idea how much I didn't like the vacuum cord until it was gone. It's not perfect, but I would buy it again if I had to.

Vacuum is light and easy to use but has much better suction than other battery operated alternatives. Easy to empty and very flexible attachment options.

The V8 definitely packs more power and make the emptying of trash smother. The new emptying system is much easier to use, making the older models obsolete. The other accessories that come with are very practical making the Dyson are a very versatile product. The Soft Roller ‘Fluffy’ head is great on hard floors and The Direct Drive head is best on carpets. In terms of battery life, the device definitely performs well clocking around the 39-44 min run time running alternatively the two modes. Definitely worth buying.

We have approximately 2300 sq. ft. of hardwood flooring -- plus a dog that sheds. We bought this for its ease and flexibility of use, handy extra tools, and ability to clean dog hair. Thus far, it has exceeded all expectations.

It is the best vacuum that I have ever used. I love how easy it is to use and one charge lasts a long time. It is light weight but powerful.

I was hesitant to spend this much money, even when it was on sale at a great (for a Dyson) price. But...this thing is awesome! Super versatile, plenty of power, works great for pet hair, and very easy to empty. Get one!

I absolutely love this vacuum. It is so powerful and so easy to clean. Even on the low setting it does the job of a standard full size upright vacuum. When you place it in MAX mode, watch out! This baby sucks up the dirt!! I also own the previous model and I really like the new design for dumping the dirt once you are finished vacuuming. I will only buy Dyson vacuum cleaners. . . you can't go wrong with this one. My only complaint . . . the cost. But the old adage, "you get what you pay for" comes into play here for sure.

I totally love this stick vac! I used to use a swiffer, what a difference. I love all the attachments. It's lightweight and works well. The battery actually works pretty long, but some attachments use more power than others. For instance, vacuuming a rug, drains the battery faster than using the tile/hardwood attachment. That works for me, I have more tile than carpet. I'm not really sure how this differs from the V6 other than the price. My brother has a V6 and it seems pretty much the same. Maybe it's the battery life?

It is very easy to use and haven’t had the battery run out on me while using it. Granted I have never used it for more than 30min at a time. It is a bit pricey though. Max suction is best on hardwood floors.

If your looking for a cordless vacuum, with power. Stop reading, go buy the Dyson. If your still reading, the attachments this dyson comes with make your house cleaning very easy. It’s worth the extra money, buy it.

The best vacuum ever created. It's light and powerful with 40 minutes of battery life. Six pounds, no cord, quiet. I'd buy it again.

This vacuum is by far the best vacuum built. It very practical and so efficient. It has different attachments to suit just about any situation. It is also light weight and not having to deal with wires is great.
