Works Phenomenally Well...Beat Expectations.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The installations process was relatively simple once i snaked everything through the side panels. it was about 2 hours to install it. The original Honda bracket for the rear view mirror worked perfectly for this one. It snapped right in with no modifications. The OEM look of the mirror is perfect since I'm replacing an auto dimming mirror. NOTE: this is not an auto dimming mirror; It just has a anti glare film over the mirror which works very well at night with headlights hitting it directly. Camera quality is absolutely phenomenal during the day and night time is as bright as day time. It is very clear in low light situations. The guidance lines are very helpful. The camera draws power directly from one of the reverse lights and the mirror can be powered by simply tapping into the fuse box or another power source. The wire is very long as I had about 5' still left after running it from the back. Overall I am very satisfied. This was a much cheaper and easier option than getting an OEM kit that goes into my factory navigation unit which would've been around $500 just for the parts. Well worth the money.

Great Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My main use was just to make sure no kids or carts are behind me. I was skeptical but pulled the trigger anyways. Glad I did, this is a very well designed back up camera. The mirror is an upgrade considering I had just a simple plain rear view mirror. The picture is very clear during the day. Takes maybe 1-2sec for the camera to engage. Night time pic is not as great as during the day, but the picture is visible enough to detect something behind you. Over all great product and great installation by Best Buy Geek Squad. Dont think about it, just get it. You will not be let down.

Decent picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera gives a decent picture but make sure you ground it well or else you'll get a good bit of flickering and interference. Fairly easy to install, but the instructions are non-existent. I used instructions and videos for other similar cameras I found online to figure it out.

Works awesome, after a 2 hour self-install...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Today, I installed this backup camera with the rear view mirror from EchoMaster. With the help of an auto forum and additional web searches, I was able to get it working perfectly. The included install guide is not very helpful. For my 2007 Pontiac G6, I spliced into a lighter green wire. There are two of them, one going to each of the reverse lights. The third green one is a different color green. That one was for one of the brake lights (oops). Easy fix to put it back together though. I spliced the red wire from the camera into the left reverse light, lighter green wire. The black wire from the camera spliced into one of the ground wires that was screwed into the vehicle chassis. The mirror had to be powered from a 12v source, so I ran wire from the inside of the cigarette lighter sockets to the supplied red wire for the mirror. I never saw documentation that the mirror needed its own power source, but a Youtube video I found for this model showed me that it was necessary. VOILA, it all worked! Picture looks clear and bright, and only works when in reverse. I love it!

Broke after 3 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It randomly stopped working after 3 years. I reached out to echomaster customer service. Nothing. I took it to geek squad (had them install for $99) and the guy said there was nothing he could do. For some reason the power wasn’t reaching the mirror anymore. While I had it, I really enjoyed it! Parallel parking was made so much easier with this camera. The camera quality was great, even at night.

Great Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this on a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. The old mirror came off and this one slid on no modifications. I tied power in with the map lights. I did add wire for this and ran it to the passenger side floor board because if u don’t you won’t have enough wire to hook on to the camera. The camera did tie on easily to the passenger rear backup light, no relay needed. I mounted the camera on the bottom of the license plate because of the latch. I tucked the wire all the way down the passenger side of the van inside without problem. You will have to take the back hatch plastic loose and run the camera wire either through the door latch or drill a hole next to it. Camera is very clear and it works to my expectations.

Work great camera for a beginner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great camera for truck. Easy to used. They Guy at Best Buy on Bunker Hill and Katy Freeway did an great job installing it, took less that 1 hour to install on a truck. They also told me that the system is able to install a front mount camera that will be a good ideal for Houston traffic. Will be looking into this.

It's okay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all let me say the video from the rear view camera is good in all lighting conditions. I work 3rd shift so I get to use it almost exclusively at night. If you're expecting a rear view camera like GM uses in many of their luxury vehicles you're going to be disappointed. The camera only works when the car is in reverse. This device also touts anti-glare properties (another hazard of night driving). I've seen no evidence so far. Headlights of vehicles behind me appear bright and clear in this mirror. Unlike many manufacturer's mirrors there is no flip position to avert the glare. Rear traffic headlights will be in your eyes for the entire journey. This, in my opinion, is the most glaring (no pun intended) omission of the manufacturer. There's also a bug that prevents the camera from coming back on once you shift out of reverse. If you're a bad parker (like me) often you have to adjust your angle when backing into a parking space. This means shifting between forward and reverse a couple of times. Once you shift from reverse to forward then back to reverse the camera does not come on the second time. A definite bug. I can live with it for now but I'm pretty sure I'll be replacing it eventually.

Disregard 1 stars!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this product on my old F350 crew cab and it is FANTASTIC! I'm constantly leaving driveways and now I can navigate the additional 6ft of truck without clipping mailboxes or going on other property. As for install... All these negative reviews must be dated. I mod cars for fun and the installation requires no more than wire cutters and strippers with the only understanding that Red is power Black is ground. The product comes with directions!!!! They didn't mention my brand because it was basic but mentions how to remove mirrors on audi, vw, Mercedes, Dodge, Chevy, Volvo ect. If you don't feel confident there's plenty of videos on YouTube or grab a friend. Incredibly easy install. If you can change your oil you can install this. Quality.... I need to have add relay (as directions instruct) because I have fuzzy picture but the manual states that if this happens use a relay and shows you the direction for that Amazing product!!!

Fantastic Camera!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this(I work on cars in my freetime, but for anyone else, leave it to the professionals!) on my mother's 2012 Honda pilot because she has tinted windows and struggles to see out her back window. After I had this installed, she was been thrilled with it! The lines on the backup camera are optional, all you have to do is cut the green wire. However, she opted to have the lines stay. She struggled to back into spots before this camera, but now she is a pro. Highly recommended for hooking up trailers or just parking in general

Works perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this backup camera for about three weeks and it's working flawlessly. I had a guy in my neighborhood install it for me and he did a great job. If you didn't know any better you'd think it came on the truck. The screen size is just right in the review mirror and it is very clear. It's a little dark at night but it's still better then not having one at all. If you're on the fence about this system, just buy it. You'll be happy at the end of the day.

Great product, No instructions
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off let me say that I'm happy with the product. It works well and is a great backup camera. However, I am very disappointed in the the instructions that came with the product. In that there are none! OK, it does tell you how to put the mirror on your windshield, but that's it. So I'm sitting there, staring at all the stuff that comes in the box thinking, "ok, there's obviously no directions in here, but surely there's videos on the website or at least youtube." WRONG. Absolutely nothing on EchoStar's website. NOTHING. Ok, I'll check youtube. Nothing there from echostar either. WHAT? How is this possible? As a last resort, I dial the big 1-800 number that's on the piece of paper that says "Don't return this to the store, we'd love to help you." It was the middle of the day on a weekday...They were closed. No explanation as to why, just got a message that said we are closed. Fortunately my step-dad is good with this kind of stuff and with a little trial and error we figured out how to get this thing up and running. That being said, if you're going to pay to have this installed, then go for it. If you're planning to install it yourself but don't know much about this stuff, find a different product or hire my step dad to come do it for you.

Awesome Back Up Camera!

Great backup camera for 06 civic coupe
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to bite the bullet when I saw this backup camera on sale during Black Friday for $139.99. I did the install myself after seeing youtube videos and a blog installation. Quality of product is superb and looks as if factory. Took me about two hours because I took my time to hide the wires and stuff. Video quality is nice and clear and the mirror has a tint to it.

Not sure of all the positive reviews
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Created an account just to review this product. Not reviewed for grammar/syntax/spelling - I apologize. I own a 2008 Tacoma. For starters, the instructions are negligible. If you own a pickup truck, like myself, and have minimal to no wiring experience - then do not expect this to be a quick and "easy install" like the other reviews seem to suggest. I called the tech support as well about my truck and he said, "well I don't know the specs of your truck.." (Great, thanks). There aren't even instructions on something universal as connecting the actual back-up camera to the metal backing which is screwed in with the license plate. This should be the same for every car, yet this is not called out. After 6-7 hours of fiddling, playing, trial and error, learning, I've managed to make the all the connections (albeit not pretty) and I've gotten the camera to turn on with the car in reverse. Initially, for the first 5 minutes, it worked well, as other reviewers mentioned, the video is bright (day/night) and seems to be pretty accurate with green/yellow/red lines indicating distance. After parallel parking (going drive - reverse - drive - reverse) the camera has started to flicker now and doesn't come on at all (maybe I need a relay?).. The trouble and hassle that I've gone through to try to wire this together from scratch with no experience has deemed the price point and product unsuitable for me to recommend specifically to those with no wiring experience and want to do-it-yourself. I cannot comment on Geek Squads ability, but reviews seem to show positive results. For those with trucks. You'll definitely need a volt meter and 12v of power to connect both the rear-view mirror and the camera. The camera itself was originally spliced into the rear left backup light, but the splice didn't work out as well. Eventually, I cut the wire insulation off and manually wrapped the wires around each other to create a steady current. This seemed to do the trick - for now. The front mirror, I had to find a 12v power source, since the mirror cable (wrapped through the headboard) could not reach the fuse box. In my case, of the hundreds of wires, it was the grey wire on one of the harnesses on the driver side to the left of the brake. Again, everyone's vehicle is different and will require some trial and error (and a volt meter set to 15v). If you splice into a wire and it doesn't work. Make sure to use electrical tape to wrap it up to avoid short circuits. The old method of wire wrapping worked best for me. Still not done though.. Good luck..

Great with one flaw.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really nice aftermarket backup camera for you car if you dont have a factory installed camera. Put this in a 2009 Camry hybrid and it works great. My only complaint is that i wished that it had night time dimming so the cars headlights behind you are not so bright coming off the mirror.. Took away 1 star for that. Otherwise this is a fantastic backup camera.

Instructions are weak, But kit works well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation instructions are almost non-existant. I contacted tech support for better instructions. They emailed to me the exact "instructions" included with the kit along with some mirror changing tips that had nothing to do with my vehicle. Thanks a lot! I figured out the proper installation by trial and error. In the end, the kit works well.

Expensive, but looks and works great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This took me about an hour to install in my f150. The biggest pain was running the wiring under the truck. I popped the floor trim off and drilled a small hole to feed the wires through. Hid all wires in the trim and ceiling. One tip I can give you is to just power the mirror and the camera off the rear brake light. It takes about 3 seconds to power on after putting it in reverse. That way you don't have to wire any power in the front. I initially tried a fuse tap and it made the monitor show the camera feed at all times... Not sure why. So I just spliced the two red cables together in the front, one from the mirror and one running from the camera, and then plugged the rca cable in and hid the wiring in the fuse box.
