Don't buy this. Suckered by the great reviews I bought this and installed it myself. The instructions are just shy of nonexistent but being fairly handy I managed to installed it. There are extra power wires than what is shown in an included diagram. WTH? I wired it into a truck to use as a rear-view mirror since the box does not allow any line of sight. It has a power button so I foolishly thought you could turn the monitor on and off. You can't. It adjusts the brightness of the display, but not to off, only low. I called tech support, and they told me that if I connect the second video input instead of the first one the power button will work. Well those are two male ends that need an adapter to join (seriously? WTH?). I bought the RCA connector and now the power button does work except that there is no brightness adjustment and by default is on the lowest setting. Then the guidelines! Another story but I'm sick of this product and thinking about it. This is a POORLY thought out product and would recommend only that you choose another company's system

    NO GOOD

If I could rate this back-up camera as 0 stars, I would. I ordered the camera. Took 1 month to get appt. to install. 2 weeks later, the camera died. Took another month to get appt. to uninstall the camera for full refund. Camera picture is way too small for the rear-view mirror (came with kit) & is awful quality mirror. Too much glare in daytime. Night driving is good, but I don't do much night driving. So, I had the windows tinted ....... not much difference! I give this camera zeroes all across the board. Lesson to learn: After-market products are usually no good!

The picture quality is great, the screen for the back up camera in the rear view mirror, is perfect for backing up.

My vehicle: 2007 Honda Civic Video used to help understand installation: https://youtu.be/wl5CEzhHbVk (No, the camera is not the same, but installing the wiring is similar.) In this video it shows the man putting the wires through a tag light, I had to drill a hole in the tag light big enough for the wiring because the light wouldn’t fit back on without doing so. Installation: The installation was a nightmare. I am not a savvy car person, however, after reading many reviews on this product, I thought I could do it with the help of my dad. Fortunately, if it were not for him, I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. Tools that we used: soldering iron and metal, wire strippers, screwdriver, needle nose plyers, brace and varying size drill bits, digital multimeter, and a package of scotch locks (purchased from your local auto store… get the smallest sizes possible, the wires are extremely small, see video above for how these were used). Install at your own risk. I sort of wish I would have paid to have someone install it, but I’m a do-it-myself kind of person, so I took on the challenge and used up two Saturdays to finish it. I was sent defective wiring, so this entire installation process took about 10 hours. The company sent me a new kit within a week, however, charged me $100 to send it to me. The money will be returned once they get the full defective kit returned. I’m still irked that I have to pay for shipping to send back defective parts when I’ve already paid for the product. That is neither here, nor there. Product review: The camera shakes when you drive. It is secured to the mount, however, it seems to just shake when going over bumpy roads, which are common where I live. My windows are very tinted in my car, however, during the day it’s hard to see the video feed when backing up. Night time it is much easier to see, as expected. The screen produces a nice video and the lines on the screen are the reason I chose this specific camera.

Video Image in Mirror Washed Out

I bought this believing that I would really be able to use it, as well as for my daughter is not as tall as me in trying to see over the seats. The instructions were really non-existent. You can install the product, but be prepared to spends some hours on the web to find something close, as there is NOTHING out there for this product - which thinking about it now makes me realize that this is not a good selling product. Okay, moving on. The video image in the dark is very good, but in daytime expect a washed out image no matter what setting you set the video (40%-70%). You will see both the reflection in the mirror of what is outside of your back window, and at the same time the image the camera is seeing. Adjusting the video setting on brightness does not help at all. Again only nighttime seems to give you a clear video image, or you keep it darker in the car to cut out the sunlight. In the daytime you get a mixture of both the camera image and the mirror reflection competing with each other. I hate to tear the car up again to remove it, but I need to find a better camera/video viewer that is not found within the mirror.

Had this installed into my 2011 Honda CRV and the whole family loves it. I really like the display in the rear view mirror. Heads up and normal viewing instead of looking down at the dash. Very low light situations has a grainy image but you can see everything. Very impressive and I would buy it again. I did have it installed at Best Buy and they did a great job!

Installation is easy and working great. BUT the image is flipped. It seems you are driving reverse when you are looking for the image. There is no way to flip the image. too bad...

Left side of review mirror becomes the camera when in reverse. It's a bit light you have to take sun glasses off to see clear. Can adjust angle.

    A tilting mirror would help.

I agree with what many have said. The image on the mirror interferes with the image from the camera. It would help a lot if I could tilt the rear-view mirror as my other mirror did when there was bring lights from the car behind me. I think that would solve most of the image problems. The image is really good at night and in dark places.

    Not for hondas

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Problems! This is a new product and this company obviously needed to have spent more time before releasing it to Best Buy. They did not include a conversion bracket needed for hondas. There is basically no documentation in existance for the product. When with incredible difficulty I chased down someone willing to send the pece to me ( because every one else refused to send anything to anyone who is not a dealer) the bracket was not machined properly and would not fit. Its simply too small inside to fit over the piece its supposed to cover. After several hours of dremelling and filing metal by hand the best buy tech was finally able to put it on, but to my eye this was ridiculous. One shouldn't have to make your own piece, it should just fit. It is probably the reason this conversion kit was not included in the first place. It doesn't convert! Finally once everything was in place noone would pick up the phone for two days to tell us how to mirror the image on the screen, I had to find the switch myself! Without adequate technical support or parts needed to install the camera is basically useless. I give two stars because I suppose if I didn't have a honda things would have gone more smoothly, but that is just a guess ... Great idea, terrible execution.

Not recommended for self install or by Best Buy

Prior to this purchase I had installed an Audiovox car stereo and added a backup camera so thought I could handle this one. However, the Echomaster documentation was incredibly sparse and incomplete. The wiring installation had a one page wiring diagram and with a side drawing of an ACC relay and nothing more. I foolishly called the Echomaster support line and was greeted by an incredibly brash and even insulting agent who told me to just go get an ACC Relay "anywhere" they install car stereos. I asked why it was shown and he said it is required but not included in the kit. I went back to Best Buy to their installation department and asked to buy an ACC Relay. They did not know what I meant and said they have trouble with Echomaster themselves. After reviewing the incomplete Echomaster insturctions they recommended I return the product. I did and have found much better products from Crutchfield with lots of supprt and other kits on Amazon at much lower prices. I would rate Echomaster as the worst I have ever encountered and am relieved to learn about them before having a warranty proble.

It would be REALLY nice if you guys published which vehicles your rearview mirror will attach to and which it will not. Instructions are absolutely useless. Come on guys, get it together. You wasted two hours out of my Saturday afternoon, going out to buy your product and then returning it. I could not find any vehicle compatibility info anywhere, and I AM NOT GOING TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO CALL YOUR HELP LINE!

    Did Not Work For Me

I received the Echomaster Model MRC-WLP43 as a Christmas present. I had it professionally installed at Best Buy at substantial cost. The unit has never worked correctly since it was installed. I returned to Best Buy and the technician check the installation; it was fine. The monitor keeps rebooting over and over as I drive down the highway or street. The manufacturer did try to help unsuccessfully. Now, it is early April and I have a worthless, dysfunctional unit no little help in the offing. I should mention that my unit was installed in the wireless mode. I am checking to see if I can use it in the direct wire mode. I would not recommend this unit to others!

DO NOT GET FOR FORD F-150

Looks the OEM Equipment. You would think that it would be easy, especially with the Geek Squad installing it. You would be wrong! The installer could not do the job because he said he needed a tool only available at Ford in order to remove the rear view mirror. Or bust the windshield. I picked the third option and gave up. I don't care what the ad says. If they can't do the job, you can't.

Bought in August 2016, took it back in December 2016 because camera kept cutting out. Service replaced the camera. Two weeks later, now January 2017, having same issue. Ready to go back to service and have them look at it again. Glad this all happened in the first year or I would be out of warranty luck
