    Regret switching from Nest

    I’m giving it 2 Stars instead of one only due to the easy install and HomeKit compatability. I don’t like Alexa... Google Home / Assistant blows it out of the water. Paid extra for a feature I don’t want or need. The software is buggy and a complete joke. Scheduling is not intuitive, the fan options are practically non existent, I can reproduce a crash in the app any time I want, it’s not ready for the iPhone X screen (yet), the app refreshes like a website with each settings change, you are forced to have a schedule, you can’t just have a default temp or range, I feel like it was rushed and the software is still in beta. Bad interface for the device and the app. Can’t add comfort settings, only modify the ones they give you. Get a Nest and don’t question it. The Nest is 10x better in every way. I’m returning this half a$$ed device.

    A first glance it looks great, nice interface, easy to use, and great looks. But the most important feature of an “Smart thermostat” is the ability to connect to WiFi. Unfortunately this device won’t wantain connectivity more than a week. I have to re connect the device to my network every 4 to 5 days. I called customer service multiple times and they blame my network provider. I don’t believe this is the issue because I have a fully functional smart home that uses WiFi, Zwave, and Zigbee devices and ecobee thermostat is the only device that is giving problems. I will be retourning this item since ecobee customer support hasn’t been able to fix the issue. Also if you google this problem there are tons of people with the same issue.

    Works Better As A Regular Thermostat

    I debated back and forth on if I should get the Nest 3 or Ecobee . I choose the Ecobee 4 for the room sensors. The Ecobee 4 would be great if it worked as it should, however the thermostat consistently looses connectivity. If your home is not be evenly heated or cooled having the sensors in different locations will not save you money because it will relay to your furnace/air conditioner to keep running until the desire temperature is met which in my case did not happen. I eventually disabled all the auto features and now I'm using a $250 smart thermostat like a $50.00 regular thermostat.

    I’m not exactly thrilled with this thermostat, I thought it would be a set it and forget it type of thermostat, but I find myself checking it and noticing it’s not set the way it’s supposed to. For example, I set the thermostat to set itself to Away when the last person leaves. The house would sit empty for hours, and the thermostat is still running. Or when it sets itself up to Away even though the sensors have detected motion in the house. It’s really bizarre to me that it behaves this way, and for that, I can’t give this thermostat a better review.

    Had very high hopes. Unfortunately though, this didn't work in my home. The unit didn't automatically detect all wires plugged into it as it was supposed to. I called support and they said it may not, that it's a bug they're working through. My ecobee also had a scratch on it, in the wrapped box and all. So I guess done in the factory. But the main thing is that the unit didn't work without a lot of tinkering, even though I had the extra sensor upstairs. I hear Nest is better at the "set it and forget it" aspect. Oh well.

    Room sensor does not work and no replacement

    Purchased in November and the room sensor did not work properly. It registered 10 degrees warmer than thermostat right next to it. So I called EcoBee for a repair/replacement. It has now been 2.5 months and no replacement. I was initially told the replacement will be sent immediately. I waited a month and was told they are having difficulty due to demand. I can no longer return the item. But it never worked properly.

    Turns AC on when system is off

    I have 2 of these in my house. one works well. the other has wifi connectivity issues (even though its closer to the wireless router) and I have twice had it turn on my ac when the system was off. This is very distressing and Ecobee is unwilling to look into this. They have looked at the history and cannot find such an occurance but that does not mean it didn't happen.

    Although the idea of an Alexa unit in a Thermostat is a very good one this item falls short. I often have to shout at it for it to respond. The thermostat and the remotes are working great. The volume on the Alexa is also not adequate. I would recommend the ecobee3 and a Amazon echo instead. This company should work on the microphone pickup and also consider bluetooth output.

    The sensor capabilities are awful. Tech support tells me I have to keep deleting and re-entering my schedule. Doing this 4-5 Times a month!! Sometimes it just decides not to work. My sons room was 80 degrees when it was set for 68. Not impressed at all, and would highly recommend finding and alternative. Still no iPhone X support.

    Though the website states the product is compatible with my furnace, it is not and after numerous attempts to contact customer service the final solution was to purchase additional equipment! The product is very nice, IF you system is compatible, that is why the review is only 2 stars.

    This never worked at my place. The system is supposed to be compatible but Ecobee never managed to turn on even with the power add-on. Too much plastic used, does not feel like great quality

    The user interface is not very friendly. Hard to navigate through the menu. The scheduling and temperature adjustment settings are not very practical either.

    The device is ok, their service and servers are down to frequently and app crashes or gets disconnected all the time. I should have bought a nest

    I had to change batteries twice for some reason and is hard to understand settings of ecobee to set temperature. If given a chance, I would switch to Nest

    had it for a week and besides the wifi and app connection nothing great about it, the additional sensor was garbage didnt work in my office to maintain temperature.

    Temperature is erratic. Says 79 feels like 72 and then it will read 76 and fell like 80. No consistency.
