Bought this for my adult son at his request for Christmas. He had it installed in one afternoon. He likes the larger display and ease of use. I have two of these installed in my home and love them. Nice big numbers and easy to understand how to make changes to the temperature from heat to air conditioning.

Before you purchase this thermostat, I highly recommend you pull your old thermostat off the wall and check the wiring coming into it. If you do not have a wire in the “C” terminal, expect some additional work to get the ecobee going. I did not have a wire in the C terminal, which is the 24V power supply that this thermostat needs to run. Looking at my wires coming from the wall, I did see two unused wires, which were a blue and a brown. The app does a great job of asking you what is and isn’t there, and then giving instructions on what to do next. Since I did have the two spare wires, the app told me to get into my attic and pull a small cover off of the air handler. I was able to see where the wires from the thermostat were tied into the circuit board. Fortunately, there was a C terminal there, and I stripped the insulation from the blue wire and tied it into the C terminal. I went back downstairs, stripped the insulation from the same blue wire and tied it into the C terminal for the ecobee. I put the other wires into their spots as directed, and voila! The ecobee fired up and we began the set up process. There is a learning curve associated with this unit. It talks with your local energy provider (if they support it) and tries to run your AC as efficiently as possible based on Time of Use numbers, comfort levels, and Community Energy Savings (such as the PowerShift program). I live in hot Las Vegas, so programmable and eco-efficient thermostats such as these are essential to surviving while still affording a power bill. In use, I really like the ecobee. It looks awesome, with its simple touchscreen. It shows you the temp inside and outside, as well as the humidity level within the house. You can also select preset settings for being away, or being asleep, or just normal use. I like that you can set up a whole infrastructure of ecobee devices that all talk to each other, including remote sensors that can be placed in other rooms, able to sense movement and temperature and ensure that room gets cooled. There is a lot to like about the ecobee. I like it better than the Sensi thermostats that we had at our last house. There’s a bit more of a learning curve with the ecobee, but I also feel like it does a better job of working with power companies to curtail use if needed, and also working to cool the home when power is cheaper versus having to run while it is more expensive. I recommend this little unit.

Super easy to setup and use. Integrates well with smart home platforms. It's beautifully designed and looks amazing on the wall. I just wish it would work with a 120v-240v in-wall heater without having to get a transformer. I highly recommend Ecobee for your smart home thermostat!

We moved into a brand new house and had to live with the cheap and manual thermostat, that always seemed to reset itself, or do something weird. Installed this ecobee, which took about 5 mins, and now we can adjust the settings from anywhere. Had no issues with it at all. Recently we went on vacation and realized we had not stopped the air con, so did it from the beach, to save us some money. Highly recommended.

Easy to install and works great. Sleek looking, and the user interface is easy to use.

I have used only one other type of smart thermostat in the past so my bar is not set too high in terms of functionality, however with that said I do believe that this smart thermostat does check all of the boxes of what I would expect in terms of similar devices. Firstly, the DIY install is fairly easy, I am not an electrician but the fact that I am in a new build home might be a factor on the level of difficulty as i am sure this can vary and should be viewed as a case-case response. Included in the box is even a wiring template that can assist with the installation. When installing my previously owned smart thermostat I was concerned that I was going it incorrectly, but never felt that was for this unit,... maybe its because I had previous practice. An mentioned above the settings within the app are the run of the mill, change temp on the fly, schedule thresholds and it even links with the big name smart-home management apps. If you are in a larger home that has spotty internet connection this may cause the response and action of the furnace/AC unit to be delay until adequate connection is established. Outside of performance, I really like the feel of this thermostat, there is no question on if the touchscreen is being pressed hard enough. My past unit made me feel hesitant when using the touch screen as it had a "spongy" feel to it, that's no the case for this product. All in all I am pleasantly satisfied with the performance and functionality for this thermostat, it makes utilization and monitoring of my energy usage easy and worthwhile.

Great purchase works wonderful and looks great too

I was first excited about getting my first smart thermostat, and in general this ecobee Thermostat does do the job --- like anything else though, it doesn't come with its pros and cons. PROS -Easy app setup (after initial manual installation process) -Can be monitored and controlled while I'm away or even out of town -Helps to save move to change temp and not cool the home while its empty or while away on vacation CONS -Sometimes the radar sensor switches to 'Away' mode when I'm at home -No Alexa speaker -No air quality monitor -On the expensive side - Auto-detects me and switches mode without my prompting -Manual Installation was NOT at all easy For me, the initial installation was a nightmare. I had to call the customer service number twice, and both times they took a while to get to me. And as I said, it can sometimes be "too smart for its own good." It will automatically switch to Away mode when I'm home, I guess because it doesn't sense a lot of motion or something. Then another thing is the clock displays when I am not in front of it, but when it "senses" me it switches to the mode to set the temp.

We replaced two older, non-WiFi programmable thermostats, one upstairs and one downstairs, with Ecobee smart thermostats. Instead of a DIY job, we utilized our usual HVAC contractor who has provided us service for over 20 years. The technician quickly installed both devices and connected them to our home network. The Ecobee app works as a stand alone or through our Apple Home Kit connection. It is intuitive and simple to set a comfort range. The temps we had used on our previous older thermostats had to be adjusted by a degree to compensate for the greater accuracy of the Ecobee units. The devices have functioned well. After we get a couple of months of experience we will be better able to quantify the positive impact, since Alabama Power was offering a rebate of up to $200 to switch thermostats, there was additional incentive.

I have 2 other Ecobee thermostats (Pro) that have been fantastic. I ended up replacing HVAC system in basement but didn’t need the Pro model and went with the Enhanced. There are a few things this can’t do that the Pro can but I didn’t need those features. Otherwise this works nearly the same and as with the other thermostats it works great. Integrating into the app was so easy. Now all 3 units controlled from anywhere. The app is very good and generally simple to use. I would recommend.

Brief review, this is my third ecobee. I set up 2 in my parents house and one at my place. I really love that its simple enough for my parents to use and integrates well with the homekit setup I created for them. I have never had any issues with them and are solid. The more granular control I have compared to the nest is really nice and it being compatible with all the smart home hubs is another plus. It looks good and the setup is pretty simple.

Love it since the day I got it. Easy to self install and program. It gives recommendations based on heat index which helped lower my utility bill in the long run. The integration with Google Home is also a plus for easy app use.

This is my third Ecobee Smart Programmable Thermostat. Thats on two houses with three systems you can control multiple locations from your phone so if traveling or at work you can cool it down or lessen the load. Easy to install and easy to program. They have excellent customer help staff that can walk you through installation errors. I highly recommend these over the google ones no service to buy or service costs. These also qualify for most energy company rebates buy it!

Easy to self install. It is a little bigger than I think it needs to be, but looks sharp on the wall. I’m not sure how the energy savings will work with 4 different people coming and going from the house, but we will see.
