I started having problems about 18 months ago with its geofencing capabilities a feature that was very important to me. I spend many hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue, and in the end support advised that maybe I need a new thermostat. I bought the latest generation ecobee, upgraded my home hub, reinstalled everything, only to continue to have the same problem. They were very anxious to blame the issue on Apple; however, I have other products that use the same geofence with no problem. I gave up on the geofencing, and thought I'd try the eoo+ feature to work around the home and away settings. That has been a disaster with completely unreliable responses and actions together with ecobee being plagued with frequent system issues. The app itself also has a very tedious design. It's a shame. I used to love my ecobee, but now I'm looking into the competitor.

I have an electric heat pump with aux heat and this works great! It’s flips seamlessly based on my settings between cool, heat, and aux heat. Sometimes we go through all 3 in a day where I live. I didn’t have a C wire at my thermostat but the support group worked with me on the phone for hours to get a C wire going. They were extremely knowledgeable and had out of the box thinking to resolve my unique problem.

I just turned off the eco stuff because I want what I want when I want it.
