Great additions, just a little pricey!

These are very cool little gadgets to add to your Ecobee to help give you the an average temperature of your house instead of a single point of reference. My bedroom and office are two extremes from the rest of the house, they're either hotter or colder than the rest of my house. So averaging should helps get a more accurate reading of the house.
They're super easy to add to your system! A few clicks and a scan with your phone camera, and you're done! They're small enough to put on a shelf and be camouflaged with other knick-knacks.
I really like being able to see the different temperatures in my rooms.
They are a much pricier than I would hope for, I paid full price.
So if you can get them on sale, I'd say go for it!

These Smart sensors are definitely needed, but are pricey for the price (~$50 each) and can pair up to 32 sensors to one thermostat. They allow the Ecobee thermostat to monitor each rooms occupancy and temperature. Right now I have 2 sensors ok opposite sides of the house on the 2nd floor and one additional sensor in the family room. Depending on the comfort settings, the thermostat can be configured to take into account occupancy and temperature to reach a desired average temperature.
Each sensor comes with a small magnetic stand or a wall mount with adhesive or small screw. They're small enough to not be obtrusive, but definitely still noticeable in certain backgrounds. Not sure how long the coin battery will last in each sensor before needing replacement.

The ecobee SmartSensor is a great addition to anyone monitoring the temperatures in their house with their ecobee thermostat and app. However, these little beauties take on a whole new life when paired with ecobee's Haven solution. I am now able to use my ecobee app to monitor temperatures and motion in certain rooms. This is a great idea for security as well as keeping an eye on the family dog while you are away. The setup is easy and they are ready to go out of the box. After using these, I am ready to buy more to replace my temperature only sensors.

This review was written based on its use with the SmartCamera, SmartSensors for doors/windows and the Haven monitoring service.
I don’t own an ecobee smart thermostat, but these smart sensors can double as motion sensors for its ecobee’s home monitoring solution. I'm a big fan of when engineers find innovative ways to use devices that are already on the market for a completely different purpose. Bravo to ecobee for that.
For the most part, I can only say good things about the sensor; they come in two-packs and are easily added to an ecobee account (they’ll need an ecobee thermostat or an ecobee smart camera to be used as a central base station). When used with the Haven service, the sensors easily pick up motion and report back as activity alert notifications.
The sensor itself is compact and runs off its own battery. It can either be mounted on a wall with the wall mount or used with the magnetic base. Again, all great things. I have no complaints with this piece of hardware.
So what complaints do I really have? It’s the service required to run this thing as a home monitoring device. In order to get motion alerts from these sensors, you’ll have to pay for the Haven service. Other home monitoring/security solutions provide notifications as a free-to-use; most of the time, you’re really paying for cloud space to store recorded videos. But to pay for notifications is a bit much.
I’d say that if you’re already deep into the ecobee ecosystem with the thermostat and SmartSensors, then it’s a natural progression to pay for the Haven service because you already own the hardware.

These things are great! Just moved into a new house with two AC units (thus two thermostats) and was having trouble with temperature control between the two thermostats, one controlling the main living area and one controlling 3 bedrooms (temp bleeding over from one zone to the other). These mini remote thermostats solved that problem easily. By placing a remote thermostat in my primary bedroom I could direct the AC unit responsible for the bedrooms to read temperature from the actual bedroom, thus avoiding the temperature bleed happening from the main living area.

Pairs really well with thermostat. Sensors useful to adjust temp in different rooms. Depending on time, easy to schedule the HVAC to run where sensor is placed.

I got these to add onto the Ecobee 3 Lite that an installer put in. Given the Ecobee 3 Lite doesn't have occupancy detection on the thermostat itself, I wanted to make use of these to help with that.
They are fairly small, and not too hard to setup, but you should make sure you record the code on them if you plan on upgrading your Ecobee Thermostat, as they are paired to the thermostat, not the account.
They come with wall mounts, but I think they would be a little hard to work with in case you have to replace the battery, as they literally snap on and if you have the wall mount sticking to a wall, it may come off the wall while trying to pull the sensor off the wall mount.
The Follow Me feature helps in letting the thermostat know the room people are in may need adjusting as it averages the temps the sensors and the thermostat to determine if it needs to heat or cool the house.

Wow! These little sensors are a godsend for me. The 2nd floor of my house gets super warm in the summer and I need to sleep in a room that is 68 degrees to feel comfortable. It was impossible to get my room to that temperature since I only have one A/C unit for the whole house and since the downstairs is much cooler and that's where the ecobee thermostat is located, my upstairs would always be at like 73-75 degrees even though the downstairs clocked in at 68 degrees. I can now setup the thermostat to use a comfort setting that only looks at the sensors upstairs while I'm sleeping and it works! These sensors are super small and discreet. They do sometimes disconnect from my internet, but that's more of my home wifi problems than the sensors. I placed both of the sensors in my room and even though they are just a couple of feet apart they always seem to have 1 degree of difference between them. All in all, this gets the job done and is exactly what I need, ESPECIALLY for the summer time. I'm sure they will be great in the winter as well since my upstairs is usually a lot colder, but the cold bothers me less than the heat. I will say that the temp averaging method it uses is sometimes a bit goofy, but I really only got it in order to control the heat in my room while sleeping so it fulfills that purpose.
Adds a lost of nice features to the cumbersome app

These sensors are pretty good. Accurate, I wish I could see humidity data on them or set them up without linking them to the thermostat to easily see attic/basement temps etc. I guess that’s more of a complaint with the app though. I’ve been using them for two years and haven’t had any issues besides I lost one of the bases for it and had to buy another set because I couldn’t find the base.
It helped me discover which rooms were colder or warmer through the day so I can adjust the vents for summer or winter to make sure the house is a consistent temperature.
I also like that in the app I can have it set the temps in only selected rooms. So I have two babies and it just makes sure their rooms stay a set temp throughout the night which is nice.

This item really helped make a house like ours more evenly comfortable. We have a multi-level house with a single HVAC system. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the price seems little high to me and the fact that you have no choice but to buy a set of 2. You have to play with the settings for your particular home, but in ours it helped a lot. I think you would be happy with this addition. Extremely easy to set up...just like the thermostat itself.

Installed the ecobee3 lite smart thermostat recently in my new house this winter. Immediately the most annoying problem was my master bedroom was always too hot while sleeping. I would either wake up every night to lower the thermostat which is on the hallway wall or try to remember to change the temp before bed. Did some research and people recommended these smart sensors. It was really easy to install and pair with the ecobee3. I like that the sensors pick up motion and reads the room temperature. I only need one, but did add the second sensor to basement man cave that is always colder than the rest of the house. Once configured with the correct comfort setting, the thermostat adjust to room that is in use or the average of multiple rooms. Now I can sleep comfortable at night. Problem solved.

I originally purchased an Ecobee 3 Lite that came with one SmartSensor and one Door/Window sensor. I found out after about a week, that my thermostat would work much better with more sensors, and that these would also function as a back up alarm sensor. So now with a total of three SmartSensors and three Door/Window sensors, my thermostat functions much better, heating up my home very well, while at the same time, saving me money while no one is home. In addition to that, I also feel better knowing that my current alarm system is backed up by each and every Ecobee sensor having a built in motion sensor. I forgot to mention that these are a breeze to install. Just go to the app on your phone, tap the + symbol in the top right corner, choose what your adding, and follow the instructions.

Got a new central air unit put in and they updated our thermostat to a nice smart one. Well it wasnt evenly cooling the home so these were recommended..
Easy to setup and easy to place them in different parts of the home.
Now the AC unit cools the house evenly.
Pros: Small compact design so they dont stand out in a room, Easily connects to wifi and bluetooth with your phone. Can stand them on little included mount or on wall with supplied bracket.
Cons: For the price you only get two which makes them almost $40 each so if you want more it may get expensive. Also dont seem like many stores carry lots of stock of these so you may have to get them shipped.

Good integration with existing Ecobee Lite thermostat. Nice to be able to see the temperature in other key spots of my apartment, and then set schedules to use specific sensors. For example, "sleep" looks at the bedroom temperature.
Easy to set up. My only wish is that you could buy them as one packs instead of being forced to buy 2.

Love these sensors. I recently purchased the Ecobee Smart Thermostat which came with one of thee sensors. Realized our upstairs was around 5-8 degrees warmer than the location where our thermostat is placed. Due to this, I placed one of the sensors upstairs. However, this made our basement way too cold! So I purchased a few more sensors, and now there is a 2-3 degree difference from the basement to the upstairs. Would HIGHLY recommend this product to allow for full control of your thermostat.
Bonus, they work as motion sensors in SmartThings, so you dont have to buy any additional motion sensors for automations!

Great sensors for occupancy detection and temperature monitoring. I wish they could've found a way to add in their fancy air quality that exists on the thermostat, but I assume that would've been impossible with the battery capacity. Only negative is that these are pretty expensive.

These thermostats are invaluable. I’ve setup my Ecobee to keep the office temp constant throughout the work day. After 5pm it switches to the Living Room where we live, not in the hall where the thermostat is. Setup is a breeze. Couldn’t be more satisfied.
