Temperamental, but way ahead of the game
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite some inconsistencies, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 is the pace car for all other robotic vacuums. First, the setup was very easy. Eventhough the quick start directions are vague, they aren't really needed to get you up and running. All you really need to do is snap on a couple pieces that are easy to determine where they go, place the vacuum on its charger base, turn it on, and download the app. The instructions give you specific dimensions that it says you need to have clear around the dock, but it appears they are exaggerated a bit as the Vacuum is very good at finding its home. For the first use, pick up debris in the area of the house the vacuum will be navigating and make sure that there is a clear path everywhere the vacuum needs to go. Also open any doors to any room so that the vacuum can map the house, which will be very helpful for future use. After the first use, you will see a very detailed map of your house in the app, which even divides the map into sections by room, which you can custom name (i.e. Kitchen, Master Bedroom, etc). This is especially handy because you can then select a room you want Deebot ti clean in the app and it will head straight there. The live view in the app of where the vacuum has cleaned and is currently located Is pretty neat too. The cleaning ability, as a vacuum, is VERY impressive. Even in rooms recently vacuumed by my name brand full size vacuum the Deebot is able to pull out filth from what I thought was a clean room. The mopping function works ok, but I think could use some improvement. Not much water is used by the vacuum, which would be nice, if it was enough. I also wish that they would have implemented oscillating scrubbers into this vacuum for a more thorough mopping, but overall it does a good job. The downsides to this vacuum is that it is a little temperamental. On occassion it will have issues with an area rug (not shaggy) and give a fault code for needing its drop sensors cleaned. They don't need cleaned, the vacuum just got stuck on the transition from wood to rug. But when you lift the vacuum to correct the error, the whole map is lost and you need to do it all over. If the vacuum wouldn't get amnesia every time it was lifted off the ground, I would give this vacuum 5 stars and immediately buy another for family members to use and enjoy all of the cool features. Hopefully this is correctable in a firmware update, and if so, I will sing Ecovacs praises to anyone within earshot. Overall, this vacuum is great in theory, very good in practice with great suction, and with a couple programming tweaks potentially the ALPHA of home robotics and automation. Yes, you need one.

Cleans Better than Expected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For some reason I wasn't expecting a device this small to clean as well as a full sized vacuum cleaner. After using it for a week I have changed my mind. Here are a few things that are worth sharing about this robotic vaccum. Let's start with the fun. Since getting this vacuum, the whole family has participated in cleaning. The boys have cleared the floors and removed cords in all the rooms in the house, and have been moving the vacuum from room to room like it was a game. It has been a lot of fun watching the app map the room as the vacuum methodically analyzes and cleans the room. More important than the fun is the quality of cleaning. Because of its size the robot can easily go underneath beds and dressers and clean areas that are nearly impossible to do with a regular vacuum. The proof that it cleans can be found when you clean the dirt / dust tray. After doing just a small bedroom, the tray is full of dust. The robot is also effective. When it first started in our living room I thought for sure it would get stuck or confused. For a while it sure looked like it was confused and looked like it was going to get stuck, however, it always figured out where it needed to go and never missed a portion of the room. It is very methodical and thorough, and the robot has enough weight for the brushes to be effective and enough suction to extract the dirt. Part of the reason it cleans so well is because it moves across the surface evenly and doesn't miss small areas. With a regular vacuum I often find myself hurrying and not cleaning all parts equally. I haven't had a chance to use the mopping function yet but plan to try it out on my hardwood floors this weekend. Finally, I would point out that the app is fairly easy to install and use. Once it maps out a room you can then use the app to specify which areas to clean and which to ignore. This is a great function if you keep the robot in one location. Since we keep moving from room to room we haven't had a need to use this. I would say that even without the app it does a good job using the "auto" button. Overall, the vacuum has been better than my expectations and would gladly recommend to a friend.

This Deebot an absolute timesaver.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sorry for the long review, but this is how excited I am about my new Deebot. I am replacing an older model (different brand) that I had gotten when they first came out. This Deebot model is amazing for vacuuming up on a regular basis and is much more powerful than I ever expected. I really think it is easily twice as powerful as the old model I had and does a much better job getting everything off the floor. On top of all that..IT MOPS! Very easy instructions and putting it together was a breeze. The app that I downloaded for it maps out your floor/floors in great detail. With the app you can block it from going into different areas that you don’t want it to go to. You can schedule it to run on its own. I have a few places that it has to maneuver around and at first I thought it was not going to do certain areas…but it came back around after doing the main part of the floor and finished up spots that it didn’t do before. My kitchen is 16 x 12 and it took approximately 10 minutes to do a thorough job of vacuuming the whole room. The docking station needs a clear path of 1.5 ft on both side of it and about 5 ft ahead of it. It comes with extra side brushes and a second mop pad that you attach to the bottom when mopping. It also has two adapters for suctioning. The one that is attached when you receive it is for regular vacuuming and one is for pet hair, human hair, etc. so that it doesn’t get tangled in the brush rollers. My daughter and I both have long hair and that was a BIG problem with my older model, not so with the Deebot. I am “old school” and think a floor should be thoroughly mopped to be sure you get into all the nooks and crannies, corners and against the wall, etc, but with this I am thinking once a month would suffice of “down and dirty” mopping just these places and letting the Deebot do the rest, because it does such a great job. Although for big dirty messes, I would get the old mop out, just so it doesn’t get too lonely and avoid the mopping pad from getting too built up with dirt and whatever you are cleaning up and just spreading it around.

Not Quite The Jetson’s Rosie But Totally Worth It
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial setup was a little hard in the beginning, especially because its connection to Wi-Fi works only over 2.4 Ghz but once I passed that, it was very easy. As long as the room is not cluttered, the Ecovacs Roboticss Deebot Ozmo 930 will clean any room. It seamlessly transitioned from cleaning a hardwood floor and a rug in the living rooms to a tiled surface in the kitchen and then to a carpet in my office. I had seen another robotic device do something similar but not as well. Still, you need to make sure that there won’t be too many obstacles. Be aware of things such as USB cords, especially the type you use to charge your phone because this type of device will choke with them if they find one on the floor. That is the most common problem I’ve encountered. If you have kids, keeping the area clutter free will be a challenge. I did find some dirt spots due to clutter around but it mostly did a good job. Scheduling using the app on an iPhone was very easy. The map that the Ozmo 930 creates is very useful and is what ensures your house to be thoroughly cleaned. Having the ability to turn it on and monitor its progress from anywhere you have internet is amazing. I like that it will return to the charging dock when needed so it can power up again and pick up from where it left off before the battery ran out. What I liked the most was that it not only can remove dry dirt but it can also mop the floor. It is a much better solution that having different robots for each function. My recommendation is that before the first time you use this, you should clean the house with a big vacuum cleaner and mop. From then on, just schedule it for daily use. The reason is that the dirt collector is sized only for relatively small amount of dirt which is not a problem if the Ozmo 930 cleans the area every so often. In summary, this product does a very good job of maintaining your house clean, provided it is done frequently and you have s clutter-free household

I Love it, My Cat is still deciding
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this. I was going to buy one, but luckily the Insider network reads my mind. Easy setup, all you have to do is find a good place for the charger, pop in the bristles on the bottom, download app, turn on Robot and connect to WiFi. The first run will get the layout of pretty much the whole house or area you want cleaned. Positive: I have that high carpet, but it's suction is good enough to pick up crumbs and Feline Pine pellets of the carpet and leave those oh so nice vacuum lines throughout the house. It has a mop function but I don't feel I'd use it since I rather use steam mops for my hard surface floors but it seems like it'd be useful. The app allows me to schedule cleanings, so I have it setup to clean an hour before I get off work, so I'm greeted by beautiful vacuum lines. Comes with replacement filters Nice auto suspension to change off surfaces seamlessly Negatives: The navigation sensor is a little tall so it can't go under my bed to clean, but it's not really a negative I suppose. When discovering a new obstacle, it kinda runs into it hard, but when it has it in it's database, it's less of an issue. My cat wants to attack the bristles when it's on the charger, so I may have to replace those sooner than later. Overall: 9.7/10 mostly for the navigation sensor height and maybe price.

vacuum decent, software is poor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never had a robotic vac before, so was excited to try this one out. Had some difficulty getting the app and wifi connection to setup on the vacuum, but after several attempts, I got it to connect. The major problem for me has been the mapping feature; that is the vacuum is supposed to map out your whole house on its initial cleaning, then use that map for future cleanings. After many attempts, I can still not get the vacuum to map out my entire house, which is only 2100 sf, without stopping, battery dying, or just not working any more, Their support people are weak, just reading the trouble shooting steps to me as a solution; I know how to read, I contact support when I need advanced help, not basic help. Anyways, so far, for me, there is no way this would ever replace my regular vacuum; I haven't tried the mopping feature yet, but, if I cant get the vacuum to work properly, then I wont bother with the mopping feature. Hopefully, there will be some software updates that will allow this device to do everything it promises to, but, for me, at this time, it does not.

Maybe in a Perfect World
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 has some amazingly cool features. With that said, I will also mention that I am not comparing the 930 to any other robotic floor cleaner, so some of these observations might be common of other brands also. After charging the Ozmo with it's base (it must be located at the edge of a room, with a non-carpeted surface under it, and clearance of more than a foot on all sides.) I admit it was tough finding a place like that where it wouldn't get in the way. The control app for Android was not difficult to set up--but I had to disable my phone's cellular data to complete the Wifi setup. (Not the first product I've had to do that with.) You can see the Ozmos's progress as it maps and vacuums the floors, pause and restart etc. I closed doors to cluttered small rooms as the instructions tell you to beware of items like cords and wires. The map of my home showed the location of the 930 while it was progressing. It has symbols for carpet and bare floor as well as "obstruction" points like table legs and chairs. Here's where the ability for the 930 to "see" was lacking--it crashed full-speed into smaller diameter chair legs that it was not able to "see." And it spent huge amounts of battery-sucking time trying desperately to get in between chairs to get under the dining table. Very persistent. The debris/dust containing reservoir is very small and was almost clogged with junk even though the house had been vacuumed recently with a standard bagless upright. The second and third use somehow required setting up the connection all over again, and was aggravating to say the least. The 930 has a voice to tell you when it is paused or disabled, or returning to charger base etc. The fluid tank doesn't hold much water, and the app is able to tell you how much is in it at any given time. It simply sprays out the fluid and then runs along wiping it with a textured cloth-covered pad that snaps in place. I could not get the mopping routine to begin no matter what I tried. The instructions say the unit self-senses that it is ready to mop bare floors and that it will stay on the bare floor area, but all this one wanted to do was start vacuuming and mapping again. I realized that these things are supposed to make life easier. Having to empty the dirt tank too often and reset the app connection and apparently call tech support about the mopping routine to get it work is too much of a "smart home chore." It IS quiet, and it is able to track back and forth, making a map of what it's found underneath it and around it. And it is nimble most of the time, rising up on one or more of it's wheels to climb over the edge of a runner etc. But I can't see the time and trouble being worth it.

A long way from first gen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was an early adopter of robot vacuums, but I had not upgraded since that original purchase. Boy, has technology progressed in the meantime! Just on the cool-technology aspect, you can watch it generate a map of your floor plan in real time on its first trip around your house. It uses lidar to get a rough estimate of where everything is, then fills in the picture as it moves around. Instead of running full force into your walls and furniture, it slows down as it approaches obstacles. It still can't tell exactly how tall the gaps around your floorboards and cabinets are, but it will try to get in there. It happens to be just the wrong height to get under the front edge of my dishwasher, and it almost gets caught under there but manages to work itself free. The more mundane aspects have been improved as well. The filter/dirt trap is super easy to remove and empty. This model also includes the ability to mop your floor, but I don't find that feature very compelling. It's a pain to fill the water reservoir and attach the mopping surface, which you're then supposed to remove and clean after use. There's also no way to distinguish between mopping and vacuuming in the controls--if there's water in the reservoir, it mops; if there's no water, it doesn't. But back to the good features... Once it's mapped your house, it will automatically recognize rooms, and you can direct it to clean specific ones. It's also compatible with Alexa, so you can just tell it to start vacuuming without pulling out your phone and opening the app. On the downside, you can't tell it to vacuum a specific room, even though you can name them in the app. For that, you still have to use your phone. Maybe that will be a future improvement for Alexa. For now though, it's still very impressive.

Not For Thick Carpet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is easy to setup and use. However it does not work well on thicker carpet and does not work well if you're looking for a deeper clean. However, it does do well for quick pickups.

Posted .Sorry for your disappointment. Besides vacuuming and mopping hard surface floors, the OZMO 930 works best on short to medium pile carpet. As a daily or weekly cleaning robot (schedule it however you like with our phone app), the OZMO 930 will definitely keep your floors clean, and mopped.

This Robot Vacuum is a life saver!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is great. Setup was easy, just install the app and the wizard will guide you through the rest. Setup is no different than any other smart home product. It did a pretty good job of navigating through my house. I mostly have hardwood floors and they were cleaned properly. I also tried it in one of my bedrooms that had carper and it did a great job of cleaning. One thing to note is I had to stop it a couple times because it caught wires while vacuuming, so make sure all loose wires a secured. The app was also very cool, it was easy to use and you can see were the vacuum was on the map. The only problem I have is that I live in a 2 story house, so I don't think I would be able to bring it downstairs to vacuum because it will never find the base charger when it is done, but that is only a minor issue.

Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I will admit my first one was a lemon- which was disappointing since I was excited to get started. But I called the company and they quickly diagnosed- by the way I was shocked that I got a human very quickly without having to go thru a huge process. And Best Buy exchanged with no problems at all. But now I have my new one and I love it! It gets around quite easily, is fairly quiet, and picks up hair and dust that my regular vacuum has missed. I have a crawling baby and all tile floors so it is paying for itself. I have not used the mop yet since it is still mapping but I am excited to see that feature as well. Would highly recommend- and already have!

Great Value, Best Vaccum I've owned.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my fourth ecovac, and I have to say this is my favorite. It does a great job of navigating the house, and transitioning from carpet to hardwood. I use the bristle attachment on my hardwood and have no issues picking up the dog hair and dust throughout the house. I have had the r98, n72, m80, m82 and now this one. The ozmo has done the best job of mopping as well as keeping the house clean from dog hair. Before even with the other vaccums occasionally I would need to sweep around the house. By running this every day, I have not seen any dog hair and my floors are spotless! If you want a great vaccum at the right price buy this!

Best Robot I've ever own
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best robot ive ever purchased. I was hesitant because of the price, but it is well worth it. The room by room mapping, the mopping, and the ability to see what type of floor it is on is just a few of the features I love about the OZMO 930. I have a pug that sheds a lot and it is crazy to see how much hair it gets even after I vacuum. I would recommend this to anyone!

Good unit, HORRIBLE software.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned two of these Deebot 930s. The vacuum itself is really good and works well from a physical standpoint. However, the software is horrible and glitchy, dramatically impacting the usefulness of the vac. I have "lost" the map several times, and each time, I have to let the thing remap the house. I have to physically block off places I don't want it to go and and put a bunch of stuff up off the floor. It's a pain. Other times, it starts to clean and then for some reason starts adding the room it's cleaning onto the map (even though it's already on the map). At that point I have to delete the map and start over. When it works, it works well. But the glitches make it so frustrating that I would recommend buying something else.
