Customers admire the DEEBOT X2 COMBO COMPLETE for its solid vacuuming and mopping performance, especially on hardwood floors. The device boasts strong suction power and a handheld vacuum that is both light and mighty. Its swift mapping process, engaging 3D mode, and editable app map are also well-received, along with its impressive battery life that supports extended cleaning sessions. The included camera is considered a great feature, and users appreciate the relatively quiet operation of the robot.

Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo all in one offers everything in a household vacuum cleaner and mop. It truly makes life easy and does its Job effectively.
Unpacking and build quality: The X2 combo comes nicely pack in a big and sturdy box, internal components are protected with soft cloth like wrappings with styrofoam. It comes with extension attachments for the handheld vacuum. Base station has a dedicated compartment to store these small attachment safely while handheld unit rest and charge on the station itself. I like the ability to charge the handheld unit on the base station. it is a game changer and save a lot of space and unnecessary hassle to make holes in the walls to hang. The base station has dedicated containers for clean and dirty water, those are removable.
Set up and first run: The instruction manual is detailed and clear. download the ecovacs home app, create an account, scan the QR code on the robot, and then app will guide you to connect to WiFi. After that making is easy. remove all small things from the floor and let the robot vacuum access all the area where you want regular cleaning. map in the app can be edited and adjusted with virtual boundaries. With the press of a button or voice command the Deebot is ready to clean - Vacuum, mop and vacuum + Mop
Performance and function: The Deebot can recognize the floor type and lift the mop on the carpet and can adjust the vacuum power based on the floor type. The water flow can be adjusted, vacuum power can be adjusted in the app. The deebot have numerous sensors on the robot vacuum that recognize the objects and avoid them while cleaning. I am impressed with effective cleaning with silent function. both the vacuums are noticeably silent while in operation. The robot vacuum has a camera and the live video feed can be seen in the app. This kind of useful also useful when one is away from the home and wants to check the home - like a second webcam. After the vacuum session base station auto-empty the vacuumed stuff in a vacuum bag. no hassle of emptying the vacuum urself.
the handheld vacuum is light and mighty. Both the vacuums are equipped with HEPA filters. The succession power of the handheld vacuum is really good. the different attachments are good for vacuuming carpet, floor, curtains, and also for car. Ecovas claimed 60 min runtime on normal mode and 15 min on max power. I felt this is okay to keep the weight within limits to operate it with one hand.
Mop: Compared to other robot mops one thing I like about the Deebot is that it has rotating mops, that mimics hand motion, the mop is cleaned every 10/15 min during the moping session. The water flow can be adjusted. these functions make sure that the floor is effectively cleaned not just WIPED with wet mop pad. after the moping the base station cleans the pad and dry them on the station. Great.
Overall, i like the effectiveness of the cleaning and easy to operate the vacuum. this combo has everything that make the cleaning very easy. The unit does its job at the best.

Super happy with this, dare I say the best?

TL;DR: Pros and Cons
Pros:
Excellent overall performance
Powerful suction
Incredibly user-friendly
Effective cleaning
Highly convenient
Relatively quiet operation
Engaging 3D mode
Useful camera viewing
Kid prevention mode
Swift mapping process
Alexa and Google Home Integration
Cons:
Slow charging
Struggles with shaggy carpets
Static attracts dog hair and dust to the robot
Rapid battery drain during vacuuming and mopping
Tendency to get lost in complex environments
Room for improvement in clutter avoidance
Initial Impressions:
At the beginning, I had concerns about the setup, learning curve, and maintenance. It was all for nothing because after a few days of use, I was pleasantly surprised by its ease of use and maintenance. AND I picked up on its feature set super easy. The well-packaged components were quickly assembled, and the app guided me through the rest of the setup process effortlessly. It's practically plug-and-play for those comfortable following visual instructions and accessing the app.
Handheld Performance:
The handheld vacuum's charging time was slow and disappointing, but once it was fully charged, it efficiently cleaned the entire first floor, including a dog bed, stairs to the basement and upstairs, and the bathroom, without running out of power. Despite occasional reductions in RPM, its performance was satisfactory and sufficient for my needs! I appreciated the thoughtful design of the filters and dust bin! Magnets were holding the filter and dust bin in place, which I feel should be adopted by more companies. So much nicer than the 'twist and lock' method of other vacs out there!
Robot Performance:
The robot's appearance is appealing, and its cleaning capabilities are impressive. The mopping function also performed well. However, the camera's front-facing position caused concerns due to hair getting stuck on the lens, potentially affecting its visibility. While this issue hasn't been problematic so far, it's a source of occasional stress. What's kind of cool about this is, within the App, there's a 'hours run' timer and after so many hours it'll tell you to clean off the sensors and camera. Which I think is a nice touch! The noise level is reasonable, with occasional loud bursts during high-power operation, which I find acceptable given their infrequency.
Mapping and Obstacle Avoidance:
During the mapping phase, the robot struggled with my shaggy rug. I resolved this by pausing the process and setting a boundary near the rug's location. This led to a minor mapping error, with my living room now considered part of the kitchen. Fortunately, this can be corrected in the map editor. Or just simply re-map and lift the rug out the way and let it identify the room properly. I was too lazy for that and just used the map editor.
The robot's collision avoidance capabilities are decent. It excels in situations where there is minimal clutter and human presence, such as when everyone is asleep. However, it faces challenges when navigating around clutter and humans during the daytime. While it prioritizes avoiding humans, the overall cleaning process becomes slower. It took significantly longer to clean the main floor than it normally does with clutter and people present. It also seemed to get lost a lot during that hectic situation.
So, I highly recommend running it at night and cleaning up the clutter first.
Overall Assessment:
While it's not flawless, this device offers the best experience I've had with robotic vacuums, and I highly recommend it. It's fun too, letting my kiddos name the robot made it more 'human' for them and it's cute watching them say hello to it.
Bonus:
There's a voice assistant as well... Yiko is the name and the call word to wake it, but I didn't find it useful since it has integration with Alexa and Google Assistant and most of the same functions can be done with your own home platform.

Verdict: The DEEBOT X2 Combo all-in-one robot vacuum/mop and handheld vacuum is simply amazing! I had a bad experience eight years ago with a different brand of robot vacuum so I stayed away from them until now… This was a very different experience. This little marvel is high-tech, innovative, convenient, effective, and easy to use. I most highly recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a handheld vacuum, and also interested or willing to include the convenience of a robot vacuum.
Installation. Given how many pieces are involved, installation was much easier than expected. I think it could use a better quick start guide, or a QR code that loads a video, but I love that there are basic instructions on the box and on the base station. The app had a video too actually. Assembly was intuitive and I had no issues putting everything together and getting the system up and running. I setup Yiko (the voice assistant), which works reasonably well to do basic tasks, but I prefer to use the app. When starting, you should select “start mapping” so that the robot can make a full map of your house in relation to the base station and so that you can name each room for individual room cleaning later. You can also map several floors, which we did, and now absolutely love to use this robot on multiple floors. You should watch the robot during initial mapping so that you can remove obstacles and see where it gets stuck so that you can create boundaries on the map later.
The App. The ECOVACS app is intuitive and powerful. From the app, you can control the basic functions of the robot (vacuum, mop, or both), manage multiple floors of maps, edit maps, name rooms, automate certain station tasks, adjust cleaning parameter (suction strength, amount of water usage for mopping), setup a schedule for cleaning, setup boundaries, shop for supplies, etc. The features go on and on… It’s awesome. By far, my favorite features is seeing the cleaning path of the robot across the entire map (you can also watch the live video of the cleaning from the robot camera as it happens). I also love the ability to customize exactly what kind of cleaning I want (vacuum only, mop only, both, what days, what rooms, etc.). Just from the automated schedule, the house is always clean now, and we don’t have to do anything, except for checking on the robot every few days. I did use the app to order new mop pads and mop cleaning liquid; quite convenient!
Base Station. The station is quite big and noticeable actually, but it looks nice, so I don’t really mind leaving it in any part of the house. The robot and handheld vacuum are cool, but I think the station is actually the best part of the package. The station charges the robot, cleans the mopping pads of the robot, hot-air-dries the mopping pads, auto-cleans the dust bin of the robot (what?!!!!!), it charges the handheld vacuums, it holds the large stick brush for the handheld vacuum, it holds (and hides) all the small vacuum accessories, AND it auto-cleans the dust bin of the handheld vacuum!!!! It’s just amazing! I don’t mind vacuuming the floors, but I do mind cleaning the dust bins of the vacuum, and now, I never have to do it again. When I place the vacuum back into the station, it automatically turns on suction and clears out the dustbin! When the robot is done vacuuming and mopping, the station cleans the mopping pads and the dustbin upon the robot’s return to the station! The base station cleaning tray gets dirty, but the excellent design allows for easy removal and separate rinsing of the cleaning tray.
Robot Performance. We have mostly hardwood floors on the main floor, with a few high pile shag rugs, and we have tiles in the basement. The robot did not do well on the shag rugs; it struggled to move and got tangled twice. Easy fix: I put a virtual boundary around the shag rugs and just avoided the issue for the robot. I do think the robot should recognize high pile carpet and avoid it, or better yet, remember that it gets stuck at the same location every time and avoid that location in the future. The robot does a wonderful vacuum job on the hardwood, picking-up dog hair, dust, and other items. I am very happy with the performance, although sometimes it will avoid hairballs because it thinks it’s an obstacle! I just adjusted the settings so that it targets coarse dirt and slightly bigger stuff to see if it will pick the hairballs in the future. We do not mop the hardwood floor, so I didn’t try the mop on the hardwood. In the basement, the robot does a very nice job at vacuuming and mopping the tile floor. The mop pads move in circular motion and are quite effective in cleaning. Vacuum and mop took about 74min for 700 sq feet, which I think is perfectly fine since I don’t have to do it or watch the robot do it. Notifications are actually helpful so the robot can provide updates and warning.
Navigation. The robot’s navigation is remarkable. The robot rarely bumps into things (really just things with skinny legs, like chairs). It knows where it is on the map at all times. At first, it cleans the whole perimeter of the area that you select to clean. Then it gently navigates the entire interior area to methodically clean each inch of flooring. It does a very good job at reaching corners and wall edges with the edge brush. If cleaning is pause and the robot caried back to the station (let’s say to refill the water for mopping on a different floor), when the robot is returned to its previous location, it will calibrate to locate where it is and then resume cleaning exactly where it left off before the pause.
Multi-floor setup. We setup up the robot for two floors. We placed the base station on the main floor because we would like the hardwood vacuumed three times a week to pick up the dog hair and keep everything looking nice. I also mapped out the basement, which is tiled. We only want to clean the basement once a week. Using the “vacuum only” option for the basement is very easy; I carry the robot downstairs and start the vacuum on the app. The robot cleans the whole basement, then I get a notification and I carry the robot back up the stairs to the base station. However, for mopping, it’s more tricky because the robot runs out of water twice during the mopping of the 700 sq feet. The app right now is not telling me that the robot needs more water; I noticed it because I heard the robot saying that it couldn’t locate the base station and that it was going to just “keep cleaning…” But then I noticed that the mop pads were dried out. At that point, I carried the robot back to the station, and the station cleaned the pad and refilled the water. When I carried the vacuum back to the basement, the mop pads were once again moist and scrubbing away. An important improvement for me would be that the robot sends a notification if it needs to go back to the base station and cannot find it, or if it needs a water refill. Otherwise, I am wasting half the cleaning time with a mop that is completely dry. The other important note about multi-floor setup is that if you want to mop a different floor, you need to first select vacuum/mop or mop while the robot is on the base station so that it fills the robot with water. Then, pick up the robot and carry it to a different floor and then select “clean.” If you don’t do that, the robot will be mopping with dry pads.
Handheld vacuum. The handheld unit looks sleek and vacuums quite well actually. It has two power settings: low and high. Unfortunately, the screen only shows the battery level, and not the power setting, but it’s easy to tell just based on the sound from the vacuum. The power brush works well on hardwood, carpet, and rugs. It’s comfortable to hold and not too heavy. I really appreciate the headlight on the power brush.
Things I love:
- All-in-one package that cleans your house automatically on a schedule, and then cleans itself!!!
- The robot is high-tech and high-quality. Navigation is impeccable and cleaning excellent
- The base station is amazing; it’s the feature that makes it all worth it for me
- Great battery life. I can clean two floors on one charge
- The whole package (station, handheld, and robot) looks great
- I love the attachments for the vacuum and really appreciate that they store nicely into the base station
- Yiko voice assistant is a nice touch
- The robot is actually pretty quiet; I don’t really notice when it’s cleaning
- My dog isn’t afraid of it, he figured out that he doesn’t have to move and the robot just goes around him, lol
- You can use the robot to view something in your home while you are away! Like to check on the dog!
- Thank you for the extra vacuum bags! I wish it included a small sample of cleaning liquid to get started on the mop though.
Things I don’t love:
- There is a screen on the handheld vacuum. It might as well say the performance mode of the vacuum when toggling between high and low
- The robot should avoid high-pile rugs, or learn where it gets stuck and either avoid it or recommend an automatic boundary around the trouble area
- The muti-floor function needs a bit more work. If selecting to mop a floor that doesn’t have a base station, the robot should say after the mop pads are cleaned “ready to be moved to the basement” (or other floor). Then when placed on the floor, it should say “please select clean in the app to get started.” Then, the robot should send a notification about being out of water, or for any other issue, when it is operating on a floor that doesn’t have a base station
Overall, this is an incredible robot and vacuum package. I can’t believe how much I love it and the difference it’s making for us. Is it too expensive? Before receiving it, I thought it was probably too expensive. Now that I see what it can do… it’s worth every single penny. It’s a life-changer. My trust in the ECOVACS brand is through the roof right now. I most highly recommend the DEEBOT X2 complete package.

Have to admit I was a bit unprepared when this showed up at the door. This is one big package, both in size and weight. I've had half a dozen robots over the years, including mop/vac combos, but the Deebot is in another galaxy.
Unpacking & assembly were straightforward, clear, concise directions (which is becoming rare these days), and an abundance of properly located stickers defining use. While initially intimidated by the package, going through the setup was intuitive, following guidance from the manual. Connection to wifi was trouble free, assisted along by the onboard voice assistant - which by the way is very pleasant in an Alexa sort of way, not stunting or robotic.
After charging, tried out the handheld unit. It's very light to the touch, having surprising power for it's size/weight. Tools are stored onboard, for both upholstery, crevice, and brush. Did not notice any fade in power over a half hour of usage.
Next, on to the robot itself. Gave it instructions via the app to map the area, which it proceeded to do in under 15 minutes. I have 3 main areas, kitchen with tile, dining room wood, living room rug. The kitchen has entry from both the dining & living rooms; had a bit of an issue trying to divide the areas in the app. Did some research online, I saw mentioned that there might be an issue trying to segregate a room with two entrances; the solution offered was to create a barrier wall on one entrance; then subsequently delete it. Was not a big problem for me, since it had already defined two area, one which required vacuum, the other mop. If the robot had to navigate a few extra steps to get back to base, so be it.
Next step was to command it to vacuum the rug. This is my biggest issue, with two long-haired dogs. I appreciated that the app offered a slider for power, I naturally put it up to max to see what it would pick up. I was not disappointed. After completing about 75%, it drove back to base, emptied, and returned to finish the job. Left very nice stripes along it's path, highlighting its hard work.
One thing I'd comment on is despite being the most powerful vac I've owned, it's by far the quietest - and in more than one way. The motor noise whirs more than shrieks, but it does one better. The unit is located on the upper floor of a bilevel; all my previous robots when traversing a transom from room to room I would get a clunk-thud, annoying apparent on the lower level (where I'm watching my TV!) I'm guessing this is due to the larger drive wheels and suspension of the unit. It's not only quiet where it works, but below it too - much appreciated.
A second thought on the motion of the unit - subjectively, it appears to have a pretty good intelligence going about its task. Not a lot of wasted motion, encountering an unexpected object it tends to figure out the path of least resistance. Even around my dogs - see photos. I have a robot that has a hard time getting out of its own corner; and never seems to be able to teach itself anything. Kudos to the programming folks at Ecovacs. Final thought on vacuum - very nice cloth bags provided - hopefully I'll be able to refill at a reasonable price.
On to the mopping, which I've only had a first go at. It's nice to provide a function to vac first, then mop, especially since I'm dealing with left behind dog crumbs & whatever dirt is shaken off from outside. The circular motion of the brushes seems to do a great job at spreading the water & cleaning up behind itself. Was pretty amazed at the content of the container while emptying the dirty water.
Lastly, there's the camera function. This is a nice feature you can view through the app, either while it's cleaning, or as a security device. Very handy if you need to check on something when you're not at home. Like when we had the earthquake last week!
While the Deebot carries a significant list price, one needs to figure it's a top of the line vac/mop; along with the handheld. If you're buying them separately, it's still going to end up at a big number - good handhelds aren't cheap. The other thing is it's a significant amount of floor space - I know I had a shelf unit sitting where the Deebot now resides, so some relocation was required. But if you can deal with that, the X2 far exceeded my expectations.

Vacuuming just became a lot Easier – Hands Free with Style
I am witness to this as my better half has been out of the country for over a month, being Mr. Mom daddy is an incredibly busy affair. In addition to my days are the housekeeping, shopping, cooking, managing my time effectively. Additionally, being the support team for our son who has been from Dallas to Daytona Beach in World and National Championships competition for his school.
Further appreciative of how much time and effort are required to run and manage a home.
To many the ECOVACS Deebot X2 Combo will certainly be a marvel of modern ingenuity and an astonishing application of top-shelve technology. I certainly fall into the category, my wife I am sure will appreciate how truly cool the machine is, though more satisfied for enhancing our household’s ability to accomplish tasks more efficiently. And being that person now, I highly agree.
The Shape of Things to come…
What guides the Deebot - LiDAR:
“LiDAR, an acronym for “light detection and ranging,” is a remote-sensing technology that uses laser beams to measure precise distances and movement in an environment, in real time.”
- IBM
If it’s good enough for NASA…
“NASA and other space agencies use space-based LiDAR for spacecraft navigation and digital mapping of celestial bodies. LiDAR is also used to pilot NASA's autonomous vehicles and fly the helicopter Ingenuity on Mars.” Many organizations are adopting the technology, and we find it in our humble home device, the vacuum cleaner.
Setup and Operation cannot be easier, which is remarkable for the application and complexity of technology in this robot system.

A Premium All-In-One Home Cleaning Package

📦 UNBOXING:
The box is quite large and reasonably heavy, so some folks may need help getting it moved into their home, but I was able to move it on my own. The entire package includes the OMNI Station, the X2 Omni robot vacuum with mopping pads, a single side brush, the handheld vacuum and all its attachments. You’ll also receive extra dust bags, but unlike the original X1 Omni, you won’t receive additional mop pads or a cleaning brush for the sink.
💪 BUILD:
Like the original X1 Omni, the X2 Omni appears well-built. The main brush, side brush and mops are accessible for easy replacement by flipping the robot on its back. The dust filter is accessible from under the magnetic top lid of the robot should you need to replace or clean it.
The X2 OMNI station houses your clean water reservoir, dirty water reservoir, a dust collection cabin, a cleaning sink for the robot to clean its mops with hot water, a heated air dryer, a charging station for both the robot vacuum and handheld vacuum. Additionally, it has a compartment for stowing away a few of the smaller handheld vacuum attachments.
The handheld vacuum feels solid, has a 3-bar battery indicator on it, and uses a simple quick-release button to attach and detach the various vacuum heads..
🛠️ SETUP:
I highly recommend going through the manual to set up your X2 Omni. It has plenty of diagrams and explanations and will ensure you understand the basics and more advanced features of your X2 Omni.
Place the base station against a wall with clearance on all 3 sides, then plug in the power cable. Attach the side brush. Remove the clean water reservoir from the OMNI station and fill it up to the labeled MAX line. Then using the QR code under the magnetic lid of the robot, you can perform the pairing process to your WiFi Network. The robot can only function over a 2.4GHz wifi network, so be sure that whatever network you select has a 2.4GHz channel option.
Once I got it setup, It performed a mapping of my main floor which took under 10 minutes.
✅ CLEANING FEATURES:
Like the original X1, the X2 Omni shares many of the same features and expands upon them. Once your floor plan has been mapped, you can see them in 2D or 3D and configure your room layout so that you can create schedules and different cleaning scenarios. So if you need to clean only certain rooms on certain days, the X2 Omni will give you that ability. Like all Ecovacs I’ve used, you’ll be able to view the cleaning progress in the app, as it shows where it has mopped/vacuumed during each run in both 2D and 3D modes.
The cleaning session can be configured with varying levels of vacuuming power or water flow, and you can change them on-demand while it’s cleaning. It can also wash the mopping pads with hot water—a feature that wasn’t present on the original X1 Omni. I also like that with the X2, it can lift the mop pads to vacuum over short rugs without getting them wet. This wasn’t something available on the X1 Omni, so I’m quite happy to see this upgrade.
However, there were a few regressions. While trying to divide my map into rooms, I encountered errors that prevented me from splitting my dining room from my kitchen. And there doesn’t appear to be a way to specify a sequential order for the rooms I want to clean—a feature that was and still is available on the X1 Omni.
In 3D, you can map out specific furniture so that you can use voice commands or select furniture in the map to have the X2 Omni clean under/around specific furniture in specific rooms. Personally, this isn’t a feature that I use, but I can see how useful that might be if you have a wet spill in a certain area and need a quick mop. But I think for dry spills, that’s where the handheld vacuum comes in handy.
The handheld vacuum is a really nice integration into the X2 Omni ecosystem. The fact that I can dock the vacuum to charge instead of plugging in a cable or needing to drill a mounting bracket into my wall makes it a very easy integration. I just grab whatever attachment I need, and I’m off to cleaning. Then when I’m done, I stow away the attachments, then dock the handheld vacuum and it auto-empties its contents into the dust bin. I’ll admit, I can be pretty lazy when it comes to cleaning, but features like this make sure that I can be effective when I do need to clean.
One thing I appreciate about the handheld vacuum is that you don’t have to hold the trigger to engage power. Rather, you can simply click the trigger once, and it’ll automatically start suction until you pull the trigger again. This will take some pressure off those who have carpal tunnel, but will probably use a bit more battery than alternative handheld vacuums on the market. You can also switch between two suction modes—silent (60 minute runtime) and MAX (15 minute runtime).
📹 VIDEO FEATURES:
Like the X1 Omni, the X2 Omni has a video manager which allows you to receive a remote video feed from the camera on the robot vacuum. You can use this feature to remotely control the vacuum for cleaning or even just patrolling your home.
The Home Patrol feature will patrol your home, but won’t send you notifications if it notices anything out of the ordinary. However, it will take pictures that you can look at later. It only stores 50 MB worth of pictures, and they are pretty low quality, but if you just need to ensure that nothing is out of place while you’re abroad or away from home, then it’s still a good peace of mind, and you can schedule them to occur regularly, albeit the utility of that is probably pretty niche.
🧹 CLEANING PERFORMANCE:
Like the X1, the X2 does a great job for both mopping and vacuuming. This robot is focused on its mopping capabilities, so that’s where it really shines. Like any robot vacuum, it’s recommended to keep loose cables organized so the X2 doesn’t inadvertently get snagged on them, but it’s otherwise good at avoiding obstacles.
The X2 has kept my floors very clean, and it is especially evident whenever I empty the dirty water reservoir. The main brush does a good job picking up loose debris like crumbs, and the side brush is effective in moving debris away from walls.
The mopping pads do a solid job at cleaning up dust and liquids, but probably won’t be sufficient for more egregious sticky situations. So as long as you don’t let any serious sticky messes develop, the X2 will keep your floors clean on a regular basis.
Thankfully, I haven’t run into any situations yet where the X2 has gotten stuck. The cliff detection has prevented it from falling down my stairs, and it’s done a decent job at navigating under ottomans and chair legs. Of course, your mileage may vary. For 527 sq ft, my X2 Omni took 63 minutes and still had plenty of battery left—well over 50%.
As for the handheld vacuum performance, I find that the silent mode does a good job for most scenarios, and the MAX mode is a deeper clean for situations like car rugs. The various attachments give versatility to different cleaning scenarios, and I also like that there is a light on the floor brush attachment so you can see dust and dirt in darker scenarios. Unfortunately, this capability isn’t available for the other attachments. It might not be quite as good as some of the competing options, but it’s certainly no slouch.
🧐 CONCLUSION:
Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Complete is an impressively complete system for many of your home cleaning needs. If your focus is mopping, the X2 robot vacuum does a fantastic job, and if you still have short rugs or carpet in your home, the X2 can lift its mopping pads to vacuum them without getting them wet. And if you’re in the need for a decent handheld vacuum, the X2 Complete gives you one that is seamlessly integrated.

I recently welcomed the Deebot X2 Combo Robot Vacuum/Mop Stick Vacuum into my home, and I must say, it's the most multi-capability robo-vac I have ever owned. However, with great capability comes great overall size and complexity. You have to invest time to read and understand the owner’s manual to get the maximum use of what it offers.
FEATURES:
· Triple Functionality: Combines a hand-held stick-vacuum, a robot vacuum and a robot mop into one device.
. Self-Emptying: The vacuumed debris and dirty water storage bins on the mobile robo-vac section both auto-empty into wet and dry chambers of the charging station upon finishing a session, or sooner if the AI decides it’s necessary. The Handheld Stick-Vac also empties when returned to the charging station after use.
· Smart Cleaning: High frequency downward aimed SONAR and 300 KHZ Ultrasound allows the AI to react to various floor surfaces (hard flooring vs. short or thick carpets/rugs). This allows it to turn floor washing spray nozzles, scrubbing discs and vacuum brushes on & off at various speeds when appropriate for best efficient cleaning. This unique sensing also allows the AI to raise or lower the wheels to get the suction head and the mopping discs to the optimum speed and distance from the surface being cleaned.
· Performance: The Vacuum function picks up dirt, dust, food particles, and pet hair. The Mop feature doesn’t just drag a damp towelette over hard floors. It has two stiff bristled counter-rotating discs that are pressed firmly down and wiggle back and forth over problem stains several times depending on how you set the App.
· App Control: It has an Android or Apple mobile app available for easy scheduling and monitoring. Notifications for full dustbin or when it's time to empty the dirty mop water in the large charging station tank.
· Remote Video Monitoring: The high-definition camera on the front of the X2 Robot helps the Robot navigate and create maps An interesting added feature is that the camera can be accessed from anywhere using the internet. The Robot can then be sent on a patrol mission to keep tabs on your home or pets while you’re miles away.
· Connectivity: Seamless integration into smart home systems (Alexa, Google home, etc.).
· Battery Life: Impressive battery life considering how much power it takes to vacuum and mop simultaneously. Automatic recharge and resume feature for continuous cleaning.
· Efficient Cleaning: Thorough cleaning on various floor types, including hardwood and carpets. Set “Virtual Boundaries” in App to dictate where your robot should or shouldn’t vacuum and/or mop.
· Time-Saving: Reduces manual cleaning efforts, saving time and effort. Set custom schedules for automated cleaning sessions.
· Automatic Recharge and Resume: Returns to the charging dock when the battery is low and resumes cleaning once recharged.
PROS:
· Triple Functionality: Combines robot vacuuming and mopping, as well as a hand-vac in a single device.
· App Control: Compatible with voice assistants for hands-free control and allows easy scheduling and monitoring of cleaning sessions.
· Connectivity: Easy guided Wi-Fi set-up
· Time-Saving: Reduces manual cleaning efforts, saving time and effort for users.
· Customizable schedules for automated cleaning sessions add convenience.
· Effectiveness: The X2 has a very high suction and brush speed capability which will clean a lot of dirt out of carpets and floors. I tested this by vacuuming an area with other common brand-name robo-vac. I immediately followed with the X2. Checking the bin afterward showed the X2 picked up a lot of dirt the other robo-vac left behind. If this much cleaning power is not needed, the App will allow you to turn it down to lower noise and increase battery life.
· Versatility: Suitable for various floor types, including hardwood, throw-rugs and carpets. It switches its height, speed, and suction power on the go automatically depending on conditions and your settings in the App.
· The head unit on the Hand-held Stick-Vac, has a series of very bright white LED lights low down on the front. I thought this was just a gimmick, until I saw how this low angle bright light illuminates small pieces of dirt and debris on the floor that you might be trying to pick up quickly because of a spill. The LEDs make those objects stand out separately from the general background so you don’t miss them.
CONS:
- For a top-end robo-vac system, I am disappointed in the navigation and particularly the Map making ability of the Deebot X2 Combo Robot. Compared to many other robo-vacs I’ve owned, the X2’s map display is missing important (to me) information. For some reason, the map’s algorithm only recognizes and displays walls that are physically connected to the outside house wall. In my home (as in many), there are major free-standing load-bearing walls that create the floor plan by separating spaces into rooms with open doorways in between. No matter how many times I tried to create a map the X2 missed these important central walls. They were never sensed or shown as walls. They were effectively invisible. That meant that the Foyer, the Hallway, the Livingroom, the Dining room and the Kitchen were all shown as one giant ~1000 sq. ft. room and vacuumed as one giant room with different flooring types. This resulted in odd cleaning patterns.
Also, the X2 got stuck or “confused” in more dense areas of the house. Partly because of its square shape (which I think is necessary to get the two rotating mop pads close to the wall and the vacuum brush into corners) the X2 will get stuck under things like chair legs. It will try to rotate to find a path out, but a corner of the robot will get stuck on a leg. My X2 sometimes takes weird unnecessarily long paths back to the charging/mop-cleaning base as though it is mapping a new path instead of remembering its original path. I am confident that Deebot will solve the navigation issues with software updates. The X2 certainly has more than enough computing hardware to handle this.
- The X2 main station uses a HEPA type bag filter to store the large amount of debris it removes from the robo-vac and the hand-vac after each cleaning session. Other self-cleaning robo-vacs use hard plastic bins that are emptied into a trash can or outside for disposal. The X2 bag filter is not meant to be emptied which means proprietary replacement bags must be purchased and installed frequently.
CONCLUSION:
The Deebot X2 Combo Robot Vacuum/Mop Stick Vacuum is a game-changer in home cleaning. Unlike hardware issues, navigation issues can be solved with software updates. The X2 is so mechanically advanced that it will probably soon do things we haven’t even thought of yet.
If you're looking for a time-saving and efficient cleaning companion, this robot vacuum and mop triple combo is certainly worth considering.

This is my 5th robot vacuum, over multiple brands, and it's everything I've wanted since the first one. The addition of a self emptying stick vacuum is brilliant and adding the ability to store all the nozzles and pieces in one contained unit puts it over the top. We have a golden retriever so this thing gets used daily and it has not disappointed once.
The App:
This was fairly easy for the set-up process and straight-forward. It did take some poking around and trial and error to find the right settings, but I was able to figure it out after not long. The biggest thing for me was doing the mapping run, which only took about 15 minutes for the first floor. The trouble I had was trying to find a way to edit the map and add boundary restrictions so it wouldn't go on an area rug that is hand woven and can't have a beater brush used. Also for the dog bowl area. I was able to get that done eventually but it could be a little more intuitive and the first run after I added a restricted zone, the robot entered it but then wouldn't leave it because of the boundaries! I adjusted it slightly and no problems since. So just some trial and error and I recommend watching the robot on the first run to make sure it's not going where you don't want it to go.
The Robot:
Extremely well built and nice looking. Having mostly hardwoods, the mopping feature is outstanding. The home base includes clean and dirty water tanks, so the robot will fill up and clean the mop pads before it heads out. Depending on the size of the area, it will return and empty the dirty water, get more clean water, and start where it left off. It vacuums as it mops and if it enters a carpeted area, the mop pads retract so the carpet doesn't get wet! After it's done with it's run, it goes back home, empties the dirty water and empties the dust bin. With all the sensors and lidar, the robot does a perfect job of tracing the outline of the cleaning area first to get everything away from the wall, then it fills in the map as it goes throughout the room in a thorough manner. Also, when it gets back to base, it cleans the mop pads and then has a warm air dryer to dry them off. They really thought of everything with this one!
The Stick:
Very nice handheld with good suction, 2 speeds, an LED battery indicator and the usual attachments. As I mentioned, they store in a drawer neatly tucked away under the handheld's dock. After cleaning, you just return the handheld to it's base and it will self empty into the base station's bag. My only 2 wishes for the stick would be: 1) the ability to turn off the brush head and 2) that it was hidden a little better, possibly with a second holster so you could take off the top piece of the tubing and have it side by side with the bottom section vs sticking up in the air. Neither is anything I would deduct from the rating for because most vacuum's don't let you turn the brush off and you don't need to store the stick there if you don't want to.
Overall Impressions:
This is a big unit! It doesn't hide neatly away like a regular robot with a charging station. However, the level of convenience that is built into this all in one solution, along with neat storage for the stick vac, makes it easier to live with. Ours is tucked in the back corner of the dining room, so it's out of our way, but it's something to keep in mind if you have a small space or limited options on where to put your base.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a robot vac/mop unit. It's truly remarkable and does a great job on hardwood, tile and carpet.

This new Ecovacs X2 Omni combo pairs the top of the line X2 robot vacuum with a capable hand held stick vacuum in a single base station. The bot combines solid vacuuming and mopping performance in a single unit. The base station is attractive and well designed, accommodating both the robot and the hand held stick vac. Accessories for the stick vac can be stored in / attached to the dock so that everything is easily accessible in one location.
Pros
- Solid vacuuming and mopping performance
- Great battery life
- Generally very solid navigation
- Base station empties dustbin and cleans/dries mopping pads
- Sophisticated app and scheduling functions cover almost any scenario
- Stick vac is a convenient addition and well integrated into the base
Cons
- Some software issues with mapping and with the app, but generally the software works well
- Included camera is a great feature, but may be a privacy concern for some
X2 Robo-vac
The X2 Omni robot is a very capable robot vacuum, generally able to clean an entire level of a 3,500+ sq ft home on a single charge. The bot has an excellent sense of direction and ability to navigate itself to specific areas you’d like to clean and back to the base station without any human intervention. A combination of camera, Lidar, and other sensors provide an excellent sense of environmental awareness. This is my second Deebot, and both this one and the previous gen T20 have done a solid job avoiding obstacles, clothing on the floor, and even (in some but not all cases) cables.
When first set up, the X2 will want to map the overall environment before the first clean. This is accomplished reasonably quickly, although in my case I had to try a couple of times before I got a useable map. Even then, the map editing tools didn’t work perfectly as I was unable to divide some spaces into separate rooms (the map routing had made a hallway and bonus room into a single room). I’ve never had this issue with other vacuums from Ecovacs so I’m not sure if there are still some software bugs in the X2 or if my particular upstairs layout is unusually challenging. Either way, after my second try I have a useable map and the bot refines the map over time as it cleans.
Once the map is established, the app provides very powerful functionality to clean selected rooms, areas within rooms, even under specific furniture. You can choose whether to vacuum, mop, or vacuum and mop. Over the few days I’ve been running it, this little guy has made a real difference, navigating and cleaning bedrooms and hallways and then vacuuming up pet litter and mopping in the laundry. Any of these routines can also be scheduled to occur on a regular basis, or you can use automatic modes which attempt to keep the floor clean without any input needed. I’ve never tried the latter, but the schedules work very well.
When cleaning is complete, or at regular intervals throughout, the unit will return to the base, automatically empty the dust bin, and, if mopping, wash and re-wet the mopping pads. The base will even dry the pads for you when mopping is finished. All you need to do is periodically empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean thank that are both stored in the base station.
The fact that the robo-vac uses a camera for obstacle avoidance means it can also be used to patrol the home and you can check on your house and/or pets remotely. Whether this is a great feature or a privacy concern is up to you.
Stick Vac
The included stick vac docks neatly into the base and the base station will even empty the stick vac for you when you return it to the dock. This is a great feature that minimizes dust from emptying the dust bin.
Performance of the stick vac is fine. I vacuumed a room with it and picked up a good deal of dirt and pet fluff. I then went back over the same floor with a high end dedicated stick vac and while it did pick up some additional dirt, there wasn’t much. Attachments are provided for spot cleaning (like chairs or stairs) and full floor vacuuming with a full length attachment with rotating brushes. This one even comes with a light to help navigate in darker areas or under beds, etc.
Summary
If you already have a good stick vac, the included Ecovacs one is unlikely to be a big improvement and you can save money buying just the robo-vac and base station. However, if you’re looking for a convenient all-in-one cleaning station solution that combines a highly capable bot with a solid stick vac for those times when manual cleaning is needed (or on stairs), this combo provides a great solution.

An all-in-one unit for tackling dirt in your home

Bottom Line
This all-in-one self-emptying and self-cleaning robot vacuuming/mopping robot and stick vacuum combo represents a great option for those who are looking to consolidate their cleaning gear in a meaningful way that can address most household messes. This combo stations presents as a solid option for those looking to replace and augment their old stick vac for one that has an automatic emptying station while adding a robot vacuum and mopping capabilities for that continuous automated cleaning routine.
Ecovacs took a direct approach with this latest variation by literally combining two very popular items in the home cleaning and automation space. The X2 Omni Combo takes their new flagship robot with its self-emptying and cleaning capability and adds a stick vacuum that makes use of the auto-empty functionality already built into the dock. What they achieve is an all-in-one station that basically handles most floor and furniture messes that might come up.
The Robot
The X2 Omni is an obvious departure from their previous X1 with a new design and mapping approach. Gone is the circular design and spinning lidar in exchange for a lidar sensor that sits along one edge of the device. The result by doing this is a slim robot that can fit and navigate under more furniture allowing it cover even more square footage in your home. There is the usual array of cameras and sensors for cliff detection and carpet detection, as well as navigating around items left on the floor.
The X2 has a pretty wide rubber roller which goes almost the entire width of the robot and a lot of suction power to help pick up floor debris. It has one spinning brush which helps pull in dirt from the edges into the roller path. Overall, it’s done a great job vacuuming though I do run into issues with my dog's hair (two Great Pyrenees) getting tangled in the brush which does require my intervention. The spinning mops do a great job too as the aforementioned dogs track in a lot of mud which requires extra scrubbing and the X2 Omni is up to the challenge – usually I employ the “deep scrubbing” path which instructs the robot to follow an S shaped path. The mopping does a good job getting up even dried on dirt and stains, though I do wish it was able to get closer to my walls.
The Vacuum
The stick vacuum is a new product for Ecovacs, but overall I’m very happy with the design and performance of this unit. The vacuum is relatively compact and has a small waste bin, and for typical dirt and floor clean up this isn’t a problem, but when vacuuming up dog hair it can fill up very quickly. There are only two buttons on the unit, one for changing the mode between low and high and another toggle for power. The toggle is great, because you don’t have to continuously push the trigger which can be annoying on other models. There is a battery display which faces the user and is active only when the vacuum is on. The filter is under the chrome colored cap which is magnetically coupled to the unit which is quite satisfying and practical. Overall, the suction from the unit was good at picking up even larger debris and paired with the motorized stick brush with its built-in light I was able to see debris on the floor more clearly which made cleaning a breeze. Ecovacs includes a smaller roller brush attachment for upholstery as well as a multi-surface brush and crevice tool for those hard to reach spaces.
The Dock
This is where the whole picture comes together. The dock has water bins for both clean and dirty water as well as a user replaceable bag where the debris from the robot and stick vacuum is evacuated into. I recommend putting the dock either in a central location or close to your kitchen or bathroom since this is most likely where you will be filling up and emptying the water bins. For the robot, the dock also features mop pad cleaning with warm water and hot air drying to prevent an issues mold or bacteria growth. After inspecting the mop pads after cleaning they looked pretty clean and if the dirty water tank is any indication – the robot is doing a good job picking up dirt. Overall, I have no issues with the auto emptying for the X2 Omni, even with ample dog hair in the bin – however I have had some occasional issues with hair not being automatically removed or stuck inside which required either triggering a second auto-emptying function or manual removal of the hair.
The App
As one would expect from a flagship robot vacuum system, the app is fully featured including express mapping features, both 2D and 3D map viewing modes, and all sorts of virtual barriers and no-go area options. After running the robot for the first time it produced a map of my house which I was able to modify with the relevant room names. You can schedule cleanings in the app and specify the degree that you want each room cleaned or have the robot learn and do that automatically over time. For example, if you had a dog room that was always especially dirty, the robot adapts to clean that room more thoroughly. You’re also able to changes settings regarding how often the robot returns to the dock for emptying the dust bin and cleaning the mopping pads – important in a household like mine that needs them cleaned more often. The only additions I could think of that would make the app better is more options for passes along the perimeter of rooms and rugs, as sometimes those areas are missed by the mop – due to it lifting up to avoid getting the carpet wet. Finally, though not directly related to the app - Yiko their built-in voice assistant works great for starting cleaning cycles and directing specific actions such as cleaning a particular room or, in cases where it has detected your furniture, contextual commands like cleaning under the dining room table. It works great and typically picked up my commands without me having to repeat them often saving you time from having to pull out your phone for using the app.

The Most Complete Robot Vacuum I've Ever Used!
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I've been using this combo vac for about 2 weeks now and without a doubt, it is the most complete robot vacuum that I've ever used, and I've gone through multiple models from multiple brands. This Ecovacs X2 Combo is without a doubt, the best unit I've used, although there are some caveats.
This unit immediately makes an impression, and by that I mean it is on the large side. The unit was well packaged. Unboxing and assembling the unit was easy though. Remove the packaging, assemble the cordless stick vac, put away the accessories, power on and connect it to wi-fi. Downloading the app and getting it connected to my network was simple. There was a firmware update, but it only took a few minutes to update.
The first decision you will need to make about this unit is where to place it in your home. The base itself is large, and the cordless vac accessory adds to the size and footprint for placing the unit in your home. My previous combo robot, which is also a vac/mop unit, would fit nicely under my buffet table, out of the way. The Deebot X2 Combo base is too high to fit under the buffet table, so I had to put it in another corner. A minor inconvenience, but if you are considering this unit, think about where you might want to place it.
When it came time to using the X2 for the first time, it needed to do a mapping run of my home. I use the X2 on my main floor, which is predominately hardwood floors, with some area rugs. Mapping each room in the house was simple and the X2 was extremely efficient. I was surprised how effective it was capturing the layout and impressed with the speed that it mapped the main floor. The Deebot X2 Combo has the capability to store multiple maps and be used on different floors, but I'm not going to be moving this often.
Once the initial run was done, I could view the map in my app, and setup virtual walls, room dividers, etc. The X2 app did a respectable job here, though I struggled to divide the floorplan into all of the individual rooms I wanted. I have a relatively open floor plan, so there are fewer "doorways" and more wide spaces that divide the rooms. The app allowed me to segregate my office, laundry room, and bathroom into individual rooms, but my living room/dining room were combined as were my kitchen area and foyer. I would have liked to split these, but when I tried to introduce boundaries, it kept giving me an error message. A relatively minor inconvenience, and maybe something that another mapping run or an app update can address.
As far as cleaning goes, the X2 Combo did not disappoint. The vacuum had excellent suction and the square nature of the robot actually may have helped it do a better job cleaning corners of my house. Compared to my other robots, the X2 seemed to do a better job.
When it came to mopping, this unit is easily the best mopping robot I have had. The large circular pads (2), do a great job mopping the floors clean. And I was impressed by the speed that the X2 Combo completed jobs in each room. When the X2 Combo would go over my area rugs, it sensed them and raised the mopping pads slightly so as to not mop the rugs.
A couple of other notes from my testing... the first time after mapping the house, the vacuum got stuck on two different cords in two different rooms. I had to untangle the unit. For the price, I would have expected the X2 to detect normal power cords (from a floor lamp in one case) and avoid it. I will note that it did not happen again on subsequent runs.
When the unit finishes a job, it returns home and washes and dries the mopping pads to avoid mildew. It truly can be a hands-off experience for weeks at a time until either a) the dust bag is full or b) the water container for the mop requires refilling.
I haven't event talked about the cordless vac so far. And for me, this is more of a nice to have than a necessity. It is really a nice feature, and the cordless vac and attachments work well. I took it outside and used it to vacuum the seats and floor of my car. It worked well for that, and for cleaning under the cushions of the sofa. The tradeoff to me is it just makes the unit bigger than it already is, so consider whether you will use it and it is worth it to you. I also used the cordless vac as a stick vac to clean my steps and while not the most powerful vacuum, it did the job and is convenient.
Overall, I would say that this unit is again the most comprehensive robot vacuum that I've ever had the chance to use. What it does, it does well. It is truly a do everything unit.

This efficiency makes it ideal for larger homes or particularly challenging cleaning tasks.
### Maintenance and Customer Support (4.5/5)
Maintenance is straightforward with the Deebot X2 Combo. The self-cleaning station for the mopping system and the auto-empty feature for the vacuum’s dustbin significantly reduce the manual effort required to keep the robot at peak performance. Ecovacs provides excellent customer support, with responsive assistance and a comprehensive warranty that assures users of their commitment to quality. The only minor drawback is the need to periodically replace certain consumables, like filter bags, which adds to the long-term cost of ownership.
### Conclusion (5/5)
The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo is a revolutionary product that redefines what is possible with home cleaning technology. By combining a robot vacuum, mop, and a handheld vacuum in one device, it offers unmatched versatility and convenience. With powerful cleaning capabilities, advanced navigational technology, and smart connectivity features, it addresses nearly every cleaning need a homeowner could have. This product not only meets expectations but exceeds them, making it a worthy investment for anyone looking to simplify their cleaning routine with a touch of modern technology. As a top-tier cleaning device, the Deebot X2 Combo deserves a full 5-star rating for bringing innovation, efficiency, and great design to everyday home maintenance.
I will update this review further for long term use and reliability if I choose to purchase/acquire one. this review has been based off of shorter timeframe use with the x2 combo and I was unable to truly test its functionality and reliance on a long term scale. I however can attest to the durability and reliance of the robot vacuum/mop for an extended duration and it also is worthy of a 5 star review. the handheld vacuum not only offers amazing performance that rivals even name brands like dyson and shark but it also is a site to behold for a docking station to empty a handheld vacuum. as an individual with multiple pets an item like this is a true dream come true and I hope to be able to utilize this amazing product in my home for years to come.

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 stands out for its cleaning effectiveness and self-prepping capabilities. This new combo edition adds a manual-use companion "stick vacuum" that charges from and empties to the same base station. The result is a complete package of convenient vacuuming equipment, all housed in a central station in your home. That is the vision Ecovacs seems to have for this product, at least, and for the most part they've delivered.
My initial impressions were mostly around the setup process and the base station itself. The product was packaged well, and the included quick start instructions were generally clear in describing assembly and placement requirements. (The manual does have an occasional "foreign" feel to it - for instance, the clearance requirements from nearby walls for placing the base station were quoted in both metric and U.S. customary units, but the latter was somewhat awkwardly specified in decimal quantity of feet. For instance, 0.16' instead of either 1.92" or 1 7/8".)
The base station is somewhat large, though not unreasonably so given the features it has. It requires notably less clearance from walls on either side than other robot vacuums that I've used required for theirs. The size of the station does mean some care is required when thinking about placement. To some degree, this negates the benefits of the device consolidation. It might seem like this product is a great fit for a small living space, but if you don't have a single large storage spot open (that is accessible for the robot to leave and come back to on a schedule), it might actually be better to have a separate stick vacuum charging stand with a smaller robot base station.
The actual functionality of the base station is quite nice. It auto-empties the dustbins from both vacuums. Even better, it auto-cleans the mop pads on the robot. Although you'll want to remove and launder the pads yourself periodically, it's nice that it'll keep refreshing them during a cleaning session. There's even a heated drying function built in. (We placed our station on a hardwood floor. I'm hoping the drying function doesn't have a bad interaction with the wood below it - so far, so good though.)
Neither the labeled instructions on the base station nor the quick start guide included mention of what cleaning solution, if any, should be added to the water reservoir in the base station. Ecovacs has a branded cleaning solution that claims compatibility with the Deebot X2 Omni, so the lack of mention of it is a little surprising. (No sample was included either.) In the end, I used a cleaning solution I already had that lists compatibility with other robot vacuums. I had to guess a little bit as to the proper ratio.
The included stick vacuum is straightforward and no-frills. It has a single high-/low-speed mode toggle. It performed acceptably, although it didn't sound or feel as powerful as the stand-alone vacuum we already have (from another brand). The quick start guide had no information about using it, so I guess it's good that it's pretty simple. The battery is non-replaceable, as far as I can see - time will tell how long of a lifetime it will have.
On first use, the Deebot X2 wants to map your home (which is typical for most advanced robot vacuums). It does this relatively quickly. However, this is also probably the functionality I found most disappointing. In our house, it failed to create any room boundaries automatically. (I would describe it as a semi-open floor plan, with two large doorways, one typical doorway, and no dividing wall in one location.) I'd be fine with that, if the manual map editing worked decently. Unfortunately, the map editing was frustrating. Most attempts to divide rooms failed, often with no reason (just "try again" phrasing). On occasion, it notified me that dividing lines can't intersect; at least that was a reason, but it makes me think it'd be completely impossible to partition the way we ideally would want it to. I was able to create a few divisions successfully but could never get them to line up with actual walls of the house - so we really ended up with 3 (rather than the 4 that we really have) arbitrary "rooms" that didn't correspond to areas a human would naturally think of. I deleted the map and retried the process several times, and got pretty much the same map with the same limitations on editing each time.
Ultimately, the inaccurate room divisions didn't cause any issues with the robot actually navigating our entire floor area successfully. The route planning seems a little inefficient, possibly because it sees one gigantic room. For instance, it cleans the perimeter of a "real" room before leaving to clean the central area of another that it thinks is part of the same "logical" room and then returning sometime later. This makes it a little awkward to avoid the robot when it's working, since it's not clear what rooms it's done with. However, the end result is still a decently cleaned floor - at least on par with other robot vacuums. The powered mopping pads seem like they must surely do a better job than other robot vacuums that only drag a mop pad over areas that they wet with cleaning solution. It was quite novel to see the robot return to its base a few times during the "whole house" job to clean its mopping pads automatically.
The X2 Combo isn't quite perfect, but it has some key features that make it a solid product. The vacuum performance is on par with competing robot vacuums that I've used. The killer feature is really the performance of the mopping feature, including the automatic preparation of it (cleaning, drying, and refilling with fresh cleaning solution). The Combo edition's included stick vacuum is decent - worth springing for if you need one or would like an auto-emptying feature, but perhaps not compelling if you have a vacuum you already really like. The only significant disappointment I had was with the map editing (the room division in particular). I'm hoping Ecovacs might improve it with future app updates, and that our floor plan is just a worst-case situation for it. Overall, I think it's a good product that most people will be happy with.

Bottom Line: The Ecovacs X2 Combo is a near-perfect solution for those who want to put the least amount of effort into floor cleaning.
Pros: excellent navigation/obstacle avoidance; versatile accessories; automatic everything (emptying, mop head cleaning); all-in-one storage and charging
Cons: mediocre edge cleaning (robot); automatic emptying requires filter bags; small capacity of stick vac; messy emptying of stick vac if doing it by hand
Review: As some background, we live in a 2,000 square foot, one-story ranch with vinyl floors with area rugs in various spaces. Our bedrooms and bathroom are in a constant state of disorder, and so I’m using the robot to clean the high traffic areas - kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway. Out of the box, everything was easy to assemble, and my wife appreciates that the base stores and charges the robot, stick vac, and accessories.
Navigation: The Deebot uses LiDAR for its mapping, and I was surprised how quickly and accurately the unit was able to map out the cleaning space, which ends up being slightly over 650 square feet. The robot navigates using a combination of LiDAR, an optical camera, and bumper on the front of the unit. Ecovacs advertises that the unit can recognize an obstacle 2 inches tall or above, and I was highly impressed by the robot’s ability to avoid shoes, dog toys, and other objects that are in its path. I was also pleasantly surprised how well the robot navigated tight spaces, like under the dining room chairs and table. In my experience so far, the Deebot only got stuck once - between a dining room chair and the wall - where it couldn’t turn around to navigate out the way it came in.
Cleaning: The Deebot does a good job with everyday cleaning, using its roller system to collect dirt and larger particles from hard floors and vacuum mode when it transitions to carpet. That said, the robot only has a spinning corner brush on one side, and with one pass along the edge in some rooms, did just an ok job against the wall. Additionally, the navigation system is really good at avoiding obstacles, and so it typically wouldn’t go right against the edge of the object to clean. The stick has pretty powerful suction, and does a good job on hard floors but I found the brush head just does an OK job grinding dirt out of rugs and carpets. Mopping works well, although I recommend you buy the Ecovacs mopping solution to add to the water tank for better cleaning.
Features: the X2 combo is feature rich, with automatic emptying for both the Deebot and stick. This does require the purchase of filter bags as they get filled up, although you probably will only need to change the dirt collection bag every month or so. I did find that, due to the spring design for automatic emptying of the stick, it tends to “pop” open if manually emptying which blew the dust all over. The Deebot narrates when settings are changed or it encounters issues, which is a big help with troubleshooting. The app lets you customize settings and watch your robot clean by viewing its camera on your phone.
Overall, it’s a great system for those who don’t want to spend a ton of time picking up for the robot or much time emptying and cleaning the robot.

The ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT X2 COMBO COMPLETE All-in-One Robot Vacuum & Spinning Auto Lift Mop with Cordless, Hand Held Vacuum is so far, the pinnacle of cleaning combos.
At first unpacking it was actually a little intimidating, big giant box and all the accessories it comes with! But after piecing it all together, it was not so bad. It is a big unit and takes up more footprint. But overall, it is stored together nicely. I have a 3000sqft home, and most cleaning is done on wood floors, a little over 1400sqft of cleaning surface. It is definitely great if you have slobbering pets or kids.
I have had other units with "mop" features, but this ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT X2 COMBO COMPLETE All-in-One Robot Vacuum & Spinning Auto Lift Mop, puts all the others to shame. The mop heads actually spin and clean, while other units with a "mop" feature just drags a wet pad across the floor. It has a clean water tank and a dirty water tank. The mop heads actually spin and clean, and when on carpeted areas, they are disabled. It will automatically clean the mop heads as needed with heated water at the base and whenever it returns to base. The cleaning area is mapped pretty well on initial setup. The included rechargeable hand vac is handy for spot vacuuming anything the Deebot misses.
The one drawback is that battery life isn't sufficient to perform cleaning and mopping in one round. It must recharge one to two times for 1400sqft. Although that is con, I can live with it. I only run it once or twice a week and use another robot vacuum for the daily job. Why do I bother with two, BECAUSE the mopping feature actually works for cleaning up any dog slobber and it does it pretty well. And I don't have to switch out tanks and pads. Clean water tank just need to be checked if it has water and dirty water tank, if it needs to be emptied.
The ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT X2 COMBO COMPLETE All-in-One Robot Vacuum & Spinning Auto Lift Mop is a pretty impressive unit. The laser detection system maps very well and does not cause it to require bumping into an object in order to change course. A neat little add on is the built in camera, that you can watch like you are actually cleaning.
If you are actually looking for vacuum and spinning mop, then the ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT X2 COMBO COMPLETE All-in-One Robot Vacuum & Spinning Auto Lift Mop is the unit for you! It has so much technology built in.
