I used to have a set of Bose computer speakers and they were okay, but I was ready to move up the ladder on sound reproduction. I have a small room from which my computer sits and so I knew that I really didn't need to blow out the windows, but with the fine tuning these have, I would more than welcome the sound that they produced. Just the information sheets state, the bass and mid's are of the best quality for these nice looking speakers. I was very enthusiatic about the sound that would be coming into the room with my computer that was hand made by one of my nephews that used to work for Microsoft, so I knew he knew what he was doing when it came to towers. So, after rearranging my wiring, I got them hooked up and slid in a cd and off I went to the sounds of 3rd Force, (instrumental) music.. I started out at a 3 level, then slowly moved on up the scale until it was blasting out and my ears couldn't take it. I moved the bass and treble around and found a good curve to hold it to. There is not a lot of adjustment to make with the knobs, but I have a stereo equalizer with the system and can adjust them a little better. They sound great. I really don't like highs, so that didn't bother me, as much as it does with not being able to set the bass and mid's. They look good and sound better. I am happy I made this choice.

For $100 bucks I don't think you can find much better than these. I tried the Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers and ended up returning them and buying these. Much better quality and sound and comes with a remote. http://digitalstereophony.blogspot.com/2016/12/bose-companion-2-iii-mackie-cr3-and.html

    These Are Great Speakers!

I did a lot of research, reading and procrastination before buying these. I should not have waited so long. They sound excellent. The clarity, the adjustable bass. They do sound better when angled up towards your face (if you have a lower desk), so consider a speaker stand for each one (I bought some rubber pads and added several to the front to get the right angle). I can't compare these to other bookshelf-style speakers in quality, but I do believe the other positive reviews are justified in their own comparisons. These are a great purchase and sound great at low volumes (which is good because I use them at work). The difference between these and every other "desktop" speaker system I've used is night and day. The only thing that would improve upon these is a separate subwoofer, but that would be overkill for what I use these fore. You want home entertainment? Then go all out for sure. I'm happy I finally decided to make this purchase. Worth it for sure.

The Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers in Brown are a true gem in the world of affordable audio equipment. These speakers deliver outstanding value and sound quality, making them a top pick for various audio enthusiasts. Value (5/5): Edifier has managed to strike an incredible balance between performance and affordability with the R1280T speakers. At their price point, you'll be hard-pressed to find a pair of speakers that offer such a rich and immersive audio experience. Sound Quality (5/5): The sound quality produced by these speakers is nothing short of remarkable. With 42 watts RMS of power, they pack a punch that can fill a room with clear, crisp audio. The mids and highs are well-defined, and the bass, while not thunderous, is impressively deep and punchy for bookshelf speakers in this class. Whether you're listening to music, watching movies, or playing games, the R1280T speakers deliver a delightful sonic experience. Build and Design (5/5): These speakers not only sound great but also look good. The classic brown woodgrain finish adds a touch of elegance to any room, making them a stylish addition to your setup. The build quality is sturdy and built to last. Connectivity (4/5): The R1280T speakers offer multiple connectivity options, including dual RCA inputs, which allow you to connect various audio sources, such as a computer, turntable, or TV. While they lack modern features like Bluetooth connectivity, their versatility more than makes up for it. Ease of Use (5/5): Setting up and using these speakers is a breeze. The included remote control allows you to adjust the volume and mute the speakers conveniently. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers in Brown are an exceptional value proposition. They offer a level of sound quality that belies their price tag, making them a top choice for those seeking budget-friendly audio solutions without compromising on performance. Whether you're an audiophile on a budget, a gamer looking to upgrade your sound experience, or someone who simply appreciates good music, these speakers will not disappoint. Honestly I wasn’t expecting much because of the price, but these speakers are amazing. If you need a set of speakers that sound great and look great these are the ones for you. I use these for my record player and for my laptop. Only wish I had paid extra and gotten the ones with bluetooth.

Best cheap speakers you can buy. Better than anything you can get for 3 times the price. In addition to being great computer or digital media plug in speakers, these work really well as both the speakers and amplifier for a turntable set up for smaller spaces. You just need a phono preamp if your turntable doesn’t have one built in.

I bought these for work based on the reviews for it. I love listening to music, watching YouTube, movies, and TV in my free time. I use a pair of older Bose computer speakers that cost almost $400 that I bought like 3 years ago. These things blow those out of the water. I'm telling you, if you're looking for a serious listening experience, this is it. The look great, good build, fantastic sound. For those of you worried about the bass, it's definitely there, but its no sub woofer.

I'm shocked at how good these speakers sound, especially considering the price. I have owned many high end speakers, Martin Logans, Bowers and Wilkins and others that cost 10X or more than these. The sound of these could fool many people into thinking it was coming from brands like those.

Good speakers but poor grill color choice

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The speakers are used on a TV to replace the tinny TV speakers. The line (RCA) outputs on the TV were used which required the volume control on the speakers to be at max. The vol control on the speakers have no stops! When the speakers are turned off, they DO NOT remember the vol setting. I just leave them on 24/7. The wood case is nice but the color of the grill (light grey) is a miss-match. I looked online for a brown or tan grill, but all that is available is a black grill directly from Edifier. The sound quality is much better than the TV speakers.

I bought these for my friends because they were just using their TV's built-in speakers and needed something better. They loved how much better the sound was, especially for their music for around the house, which is the main thing they use them for. Now, these don't have a dedicated subwoofer, so if you want that rumble, these are not the speakers you're looking for. Considering there's no subwoofer, they are on the more expensive side, but if you're looking for a set of speakers that let you hear every detail you want to, are a step above the rest aesthetically speaking, and don't want to disturb the downstairs neighbors with the bass, these are the ones for you.
