Significantly Improved WiFi Coverage & Performance

I wandered into Best Buy seeking advice on how to improve the coverage and performance of my home WiFi. A knowledgeable sales associate led me straight to the eero AC Dual-Band Mesh 3-pack system, explained the relative merits vs. similar products, and shared his own experience using the product himself. Based on this input and the good price point, I purchased the eero. Set up was very easy and took me about 15 minutes. I positioned one unit next to the WiFi router, one in the home office on the far side of the 1300 sq foot house, and one in the master bedroom separated from the WiFi router by a wall. The results exceeded my expectations. Signal strength and throughput were consistent and at the high end of the contracted bandwidth from the carrier (Sonic). The improvement was particularly good in the home office, where I used to get dropped continually and experienced lousy performance. eero establishes a separate network within the primary WiFi network, so you need to login all devices to the new network to take advantage. But we're running all our audio, video, cellular, and laptop traffic through the eero network and performance is superb (although I can't say the same for Google Fi cellular coverage). At this price point, I highly recommend the eero for home installations similar to my own.

Best WiFi Mesh product in the market. I have installed 4 of these throught my home of 3,565Sq.Ft. I have one in the main server room. Which that distributes signal to the uni in the center of garage/ east & west side of the house to those units. The amount of wifi boost these units provide is amazing. With internet provider supposedly 400Mbps which is what I pay. I was getting only 320Mbps at times. I did try other wifi extenders (plug-ins/google wifi extender/motorola/etc.) nothing worked until these little guys came in. Now I’m getting 496Mbps-520Mbps. You can stream wifi as well without boggling down your internet. The set up is easy and very fast. Instruction on manual is just 1-2-3 and your down. I have one modem connecting from the modem to eero. That erro (unit 1) i have connected to a 16 port ethernet switch, which that distributes internet via Cat6 to my TV, Bose Soundbar Smart Touch 900, Ring Bridge, Hue Light Bridge, Ring Alarn Bridge all via Cat6. The rest of Cat6 run to rooms. The rest of units #2,#3, and #4 are just for Wifi throught the house and backyard. I have also educated some while buying at Bestbuy….i have probably sold more units for Bestbuy..hahahaha

With both hubby and I working from home, we noticed our wi-fi wasn’t performing very well. Notably, our Roku would not play some channels due to “bad connection.” I wasn’t sure if I should upgrade modem and router or just router. I did a lot of research, but still felt unsure. I went to Best Buy thinking they were open, to find they were only open for curbside pickup. Big kudos to the crew—they still did a great job of helping me. An associate called me from inside the store and advised that I try this product. My modem is still not that old, so he thought I could get away with just upgrading my router. He was knowledgeable, polite, answered my questions, and explained the key points of how this system works (j got the three-pack). I purchased it over the phone and he brought it to my car. All and all a positive experience. The system is very easy to set up. The directions are easy to understand. With the three pack I was able to space the units out through the house for great wi-fi coverage, and I will be able to add units if I need to. (May add one in the basement later). The app is really great. You can name all your devices whatever you want, and you can see which unit your devices are getting wi-fi signal from. Devices that move like phones and tablets can get signal from whichever unit is closest. All and all I am very satisfied so far. Just got it yesterday and so far no problems. Getting faster internet and our Roku is working faster too.

    Slick WiFi Solution

I have a relatively large 2 story house and did have WiFi throughout. My setup consisted of 3 routers and a range extender providing 3 separate networks on 2.4 and 5 ghz bands. It worked for may years but having to deal with 3 separate networks was frequently a pain. For example, I have a Google Chrome Cast device connected to my TV in the family room. I needed to use it for a meeting in the dining room connected to a video projector. Since the dining room was on a different network I had to reconfigure the Chrome Cast device then configure it again when moving it back. Also, as I walked from room to room my cell phone had to constantly change networks. It was able to do so, but in between it would frequently drop WiFi and switch to the cell phone network then connect to the next router. Also periodically if there was a problem that required rebooting the main router I usually also had to reboot the other routers because they would not always automatically reconnect. I have over 20 devices on my network including media streamers, cell phones, a desktop computer, a server, a laptop, Kindle, WiFi surveillance cameras, NAS, etc. I also have to be able to access several of my devices remotely over the internet. I had read about mesh networks but was wary of making the change, expecting to run into lots of connection issues that would require days of hacking to get everything to work. Given all that, I held out for a long time but finally decided to try the eero Dual-Band purchased from Best Buy so that I could easily return it if it didn't work out. I chose the eero because it is reasonably priced and each remote has two Ethernet ports which I needed because I have several devices that don't support WiFi. My old routers all had 4 Ethernet ports so I also purchased an 8 port switch to make up for the missing ports on the eero system. All I can say is that I was amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to get everything running on the mesh network. I turned off my old routers, loaded up the eero app on my Android phone and within a few minutes had all 3 eero routers up on the network. I set it up with the same SSID and password as my old 2.4 ghz network then changed the default IP address range to 10.0.0.0 to match my old configuration. As if by magic, all my 2.4 ghz devices connected to the eero network immediately. I reconfigured the 5 ghz devices to the new SSID and plugged the Ethernet switch into the remaining port on the main eero router (the other port being connected to my cable modem). All the hard wired devices connected immediately as did the remaining WiFi devices. The only thing left to do was define port forwarding for the devices that I access externally and within an hour from opening the box everything was working as before. I then walked around the house testing the WiFi connections and had more than adequate speed everywhere in the house. I have 200 mb internet service and my internet connection speed over WiFi ranges from about 60 mb to about 200 mb depending on where I am in the house. Those speeds are not super high but are all plenty for video streaming and everything else that I need to do. Moving from one area to the next is seamless with no breaks in connection. Overall I'm very impressed with the slickness of the installation process. There are a few features that my old router had that I had to work around. These include support for a ddns client, port forwarding by range rather than individual ports, and some QOS control. However the eero system has enough flexibility for my needs and I'm very happy with it so far. If the reliability holds up I will be thrilled.

We have a two story home with 2,360 sq ft. We usually have no more than 3 or 4 devices in use at a time and we're not heavy users. So I bought the 3-pack of the wi-fi 5 eero. No reason to spend extra for the latest generation of eero for extra speed and bandwidth we don't need. This eero is dual-band and the wi-fi speed is rated at 550 Mbps (although I've seen independent tests showing it maxes out at around 350-400). This should work well for many households. Setup is done through the eero app on your phone and is amazingly easy. The cable modem is in my 2nd floor office so that's where the first eero goes. I used the 2nd ethernet port to connect to my PC. The second eero is on the first floor next to the entertainment unit and I used one of the ethernet ports to connect to the TV. Even though both eeros are at one side of the house, because that's what works best for us logistically, we get full coverage in every room with no dropoff of speed 50 feet away. Even great coverage in the basement and backyard. We don't even need the 3rd eero right now. If you're a heavy user with 12 devices and needing 1 gig speed this won't work for you. But if you're the average user like us, now that the price has dropped to $199 (and single units to $79) this is a super deal and I highly recommend it.

Eero is very easy to set up. The app is easy to download and simple to use. All my devices linked quickly and the speed is very rewarding. For someone that is not tech savvy- I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the ease of installation. I definitely recommend 10 out of 10 for this product.

My internet speed improved by four times after I installed my eero mesh system. Plus it was simple to install, so much easier than the Netgear it replaced. The price was super reasonable too. I’m loving my signal bath, especially on the second floor.

Great coverage, high-speed throughout our 2-story, 2,000 sq. ft. house. Our modem is located in one corner of the house downstairs. We're now getting high speed internet 40 ft away upstairs with these units. In the past we tried using single units (not mesh routers) that were less expensive but they never quite worked. These are easy to set up. Takes just a few minutes for each unit. Set up accomplished through an app on my phone using Bluetooth connection for each unit. It does require an online account to set up. (There might be ways around this, but I didn't research it.) I've been very impressed with how easy it is to track what devices are attached to the network at any ment. It's also nice getting a notification every time a new device attaches. These units are not Wi-Fi 6 enabled. That's not a deal-breaker for us. (At the time of this review, erode just released Wi-Fi 6 units.) Unlike many mesh routers, each of these units has two hardwire Network ports. This is very convenient for attaching DVRs and remote computers.

The run of the mill Asus router I was using couldn’t cover my home - I had lots of spaces where signal was marginal and caused trouble for streaming to TVs. I purchased 2 of these Eero mesh routers (the bundles were all sold out) and together they are doing a great job covering 3 levels and nearly 6000sqft of living space. Speeds are 75-80% of what the IP provides at the gateway (to wifi6 devices) or even better if you are plugged into one of the network ports on the satellite and stay much more consistent no matter where you are. Setup took maybe 15 minutes. I do find that they run a bit hotter than I would expect but it doesn’t seem to bother them. Sometimes I have 40+ devices connected and the routers are totally transparent, they just do their job. Having the built in zigbee hub makes things even better, I wish it had built in Zwave too, but that’s just a minor complaint. you won’t need to worry about your router for a long time with this thing

I bought the eero Dual-Band Mesh System on the recommendation of the Cox representative at the Best Buy on Sunset in Henderson. I wanted to replace my 12 year old Apple Airport router. The store, and the Cox representative wanted me to buy the 3 device package. I have a 3400 sq. ft. home. I opted for the 2 device package and found it to be more than adequate. I had trouble creating an account and the eero rep on the phone said he didn't know anything about iPhones (can you imagine?), but eventually I was able to call back and talk to somebody with a brain. Once I created the account set up was a snap. I have great coverage throughout my entire house and my wireless speed has actually doubled in parts of the house. I can power all my streaming service without any problems. I recommend the product, but I wish I had gone with the Lynksys system since it is supported by Apple. Overall, I am quite pleased. There is more than enough features for me.

I purchased this after reading different reviews from different sites saying it would boost your internet connection. My kids are doing virtual schooling and their zoom calls had a serious lag or would just freeze. I installed these and was amazed at the internet boost it gave. I have a 1500 sq ft home. So I placed one hub in the living room, one in the kitchen and one in the back room. The connection is so much better and even reaches the backyard. I have multiple devices connected. No lagging or freezing while on multiple devices including game consoles. Set up was easy with no issues. Took maybe about 5 minutes. The only pain is I had to create a new network name and then reconnect all the devices on to this new network.

The item came packaged well. Setup was very easy with the app and I had the 3 units up and running within 20 mins. My house is about 1800 sq ft and I have full signal everywhere in the house. In doing speed tests, I have as much speed as I do with my wired connection to my desktop computer. As I move around the house with my phone I notice that my phone will automatically switch to the node with the closet signal. You can verify this in the app. I did notice one time when I went from downstairs to the upstairs with my laptop, when I got upstairs I lost the wifi connection. At that point I was only about 5 feet from the upstairs node. It took a minute for it to reconnect which wasn't an issue as I was downloading anything at the time. Maybe it was my laptop, no way to tell. I have the Eero connected to Alexa but haven't played around with that to see how that function will work. All in all it seems to work very well and I would recommend this system.

As the owner of an original Eero system who recently upgraded to this one, Eero definitely knows what they’re doing with wifi. Even though these are more affordable than the “Pro” options, they perform perfectly well for me, and that’s with a network of smart home gadgets that brings my device count at any given time to around 100. I do use ethernet to connect them, which improves the efficiency by a good bit. If you have to run them fully wirelessly, your mileage may vary. Other observations: 1) Decent if not extensive pro level features—DHCP reservations and port forwarding are a little annoying to set up, but they’re there. Automatic 2.4/5GHz band-steering and Smart Queue Management are available, but not super configurable. Just “on” or “off” though they seem to work well for what they are. 2) No web interface—they work only with the Eero app, which is fine but definitely different from what people familiar with old-school routers may be used to. 3) Eero is made to be easy to set up, so even for a non-techie the setup seems doable. 4) Eero support is AMAZING. Phone calls lead right to a helpful person who knows what they’re doing and for someone who’s a bit geekier like me, it’s clear they know how to talk to me and not just follow some support script. 5) Eero *is* owned by Amazon, so while the privacy protections seem solid as of the moment, watch that space. I know I am.

I run a small consumer technology consulting business, and this unit is one I frequently install in homes to improve their WiFi coverage. I've used the original eero for about 3 years now and love it, and this newer model is equally as easy to setup and use. I installed his specific unit in a ~3200 square foot house and it covered every foot without issue. I consistently got close to the maximum speed I was getting wired into the modem, which was great. The app is super easy to use and gives you great info to monitor your network, and perhaps best of all it makes it very simple to change the network name and password.

This was perhaps the best investment I’ve made for my home wireless needs. Installation was a breeze and we have yet to have any issues with it. Our coverage increased significantly with my wife now having stable and strong connectivity in her sewing room which is downstairs and on the opposite side of the house. I highly recommend Eero for your wireless needs.

I purchased this system because of the poor quality of Wi-Fi I was getting from AT&T U-Verse. Using my existing AT&T gateway, I was able to get this system up and running in 15 minutes. The difference in signal strength and coverage was night and day. We have 1GB internet and we are getting between 300 and 400 MB speed across the mesh devices. Our home is almost 2000 sq. ft. and 3 floors so I have an EERO node on each floor. My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner. If you have poor quality internet from U-Verse, get this system. You will be glad you did.

Our router is in the lower north corner of the house, while the well-used bonus room is in the upper south corner. A regular network extender did not work very well, so I bought this system. I can tell you that it works great and the management application allows me to see what devices are connected, perform speed tests and more. They sell network protection software that I did not purchase. All I can say is that I no longer get complaints about the lack of network connectivity or slow speeds. System work well. Set-up was well thought out.
