Definitive Review from long-time Eero customer

I was one of the first people in 2016-2017 to embrace Eero's first home mesh WiFi system. Eero's mesh system enabled me to extend WiFi coverage to every corner of my large home. A year later, I upgraded to their second-generation (5G) system which I have been using for approximately 7 years. Having been a long-time user of Eero products, I can confidently say that they are the most reliable mesh systems available. There may be a never-ending debate as to whether they are the fastest mesh system out there, but there is no debate that out of the box, they just work. I found this out the hard way when I decided earlier this year to upgrade to a modern WiFi 7 mesh system. I bought the TP-LINK Deco BE85, thinking it would significantly outperform my old Eero mesh system. Instead, I found myself dealing with constant dropped connections and incompatibility between my Nest and Ring cameras. I ended up returning that product within a day. Upgrading to the Eero Max 7 was an expensive proposition. I needed the 3-pack and as such, I would spend well over $1k to obtain it. I waited until there was a small price drop at BestBuy and then made the purchase. The Eero 7 Max nodes are huge. Whereas, the smaller pucks of models that came before it could easily be hidden, there is no disguising these massive radios. The devices are extremely well-built and very attractive. They feature two 10GB and two 2.5GB ports. The one thing that bothers me about this upgrade is that for the price, Eero doesn't offer a USB slot to connect a hard drive that could be accessed across the network like other mesh systems do. This is a huge misfire for the product, in my opinion. So, for years I have had a 1GB incoming connection from Verizon Fios. With the older Eero 5G mesh system, I have never been able to obtain 1GB speed wirelessly. I knew that with the new Eero Max 7, obtaining that speed would also be impossible, but I knew there would be improvement over what I had. My Eero 7 Max setup is as follows: Verizon Fios Router -> Eero Max 7 Ethernet backhaul connection from the first Eero to a second at the opposite end of the house. Wireless connection for third Eero located in the basement. It took a few days for my Eero system to adapt itself to its new environment and delegate its channels accordingly. I also had to play around with the Ookla SpeedTest app to find the most optimal connection to perform the tests I was about to reveal. With my old 2nd generation Eero system and an incoming 1GB connection, at best, I was able to get 350 Mbps wireless close to the Eero node. With the new Eero 7 Max, I saw those speeds jump significantly... 928Mbps on a WiFi 7 device (iPhone 16 Pro Max) 680Mbps on a WiFi 6 device (M4 iPad Pro) 580Mbps on a WiFi 5 device (M1 Macbook Pro) The most significant result of this test was that I could indeed, on a WiFi 7 device, achieve 1GB (or just at) wireless speed. Of course, that speed decreased as I moved farther away from the node, but overall, my entire home retained significant signal coverage. And, as expected, my Nest and Ring products immediately connected (which did not happen with the TP-LINK Deco mesh system). It's important to note here that mesh systems are not perfect and most often, will only provide a wireless speed less than what your Internet connection is rated for. I was very fortunate to have gotten these kinds of speeds, but speaking with Eero support (who were excellent), they reminded me that, "In reality, the average wireless speed expected is at least 40% from the access point." This is a powerhouse product with very strong radios that provide ample coverage for a large multi-level home. That being said, like any new product, it's grossly overpriced. I also need to reiterate that at this price point, there should have been a USB port included to connect a hard drive. In the end, the numbers I provided speak for themselves. This mesh system exceeded my expectations. I have had no issues since connecting. I have no disconnections. I have no regrets. As Apple catches up and adds more WiFi 7 support to their products, I look forward to all my devices running at optimal WiFi speed.

Took a While to Optimize... then they're GREAT!

I replaced four (4) eero Pro 6E's with this mesh set of 4 eero Max 7's (3 pack + 1 pack). These are definitely larger than the eero Pro 6E's and - at first - seemed like the performance was comparable. I managed to pick these Max 7's up on a great Best Buy Promo/Sale, otherwise I probably would've returned them given that I didn't see any immediate speed difference. Once I pulled all of my Pro 6E's off of the network and left only these four eero Max 7's, it took a couple weeks to optimize. After allowing them to optimize, I'm now getting ~1.2Gbps Down on a 1Gbps Internet connection. For reference, I could generally get 6-800 Mbps on the Pro 6E's. It appears to me the trick is to get them setup and let them tweak things for a couple weeks before making a judgement on the effectiveness. The Max 7's are quite a bit larger than the Pro 6E which is larger than the Pro (photos for size comparison) I'm pretty happy with them now, though they are cost-prohibitive for some people. Overall 4.5/5

A Worthy Upgrade with One Drawback

I recently upgraded from the Eero Pro 6 to the Eero Max 7, and the difference has been nothing short of impressive. Without changing anything else in my setup, my wireless speeds more than doubled, which speaks volumes about its performance. While the Eero Max 7 is overkill for my 1.2 Gbps internet plan, the improved coverage and consistency make it well worth the upgrade—it’s a night-and-day difference compared to the Pro 6. My only real complaint is the size. Each node is almost four times larger than the Pro 6, which is quite a jump. (I’ve included a picture for scale.) That said, if you want top-tier Wi-Fi performance and future-proofing, the Eero Max 7 delivers in a big way.

I give it 5 stars because I do think at this point this is the best Eero mesh system, the speeds are much faster, larger coverage, and 3 pack pretty much covers my entire house of over 3000 sq ft. Previously I had Eero Pro 6, and 5 pack of them did a decent job, but with 3 pack of Eero Max 7 now I’m seeing two times faster speeds. I do have a WiFi 7 device, while connectivity is always steady, but speeds are less than 6e/6 results.

Finally getting gigabit speeds w/o wifi 7 device

Very fast and easy to set up. It works twice as fast as Orbi 770. I tried both systems in the exact same locations using the exact same app to measure speeds. I am finally getting the gigabit speeds that I am paying for with better range. The Orbi 770 was disappointing as it barely faster than my Orbi 753 system. Eero is much easier to set-up and doesn't have the firmware issues that Orbi had. The security subscription includes 1Password and VPN which is an enchancement over Orbi. Eero is a superior system with a similar price to Orbi 770 when on sale

After lots of skepticism, and reading through numerous reviews on multiple websites I took the plunge and I have to say I'm impressed. From the ease of the process and app, along with the coverage and speeds I'm impressed. Last time I tried an Orbi (3 node) in the 6E series it had large impacts to some smart home products and Orbi was pricy. And my Asus ROG Gaming Router (WIFI 6 1 node) was starting to act up after 4+ years. So I grabbed these EERO 7 MAX (3 node) to future proof and update the degrading hardware. As others say if you want all the fancy features to tweak settings this is not the way. However, I'm getting to the point with technology I want easier even though I work in the IT field. This is truly like an Apple setup, very easy and straight forward and things that just work! No issues, no hiccups and great coverage. Just having issues with one spot near a cinderblock garage with my phone at times but the cameras there still work great. I would highly recommend and you don't need to change anything and can quickly know the items on your network. I would immediately recommend to anyone especially if you can grab the bundle on sale!

I've gravitated toward Eero products for the past few years thanks to their ease of use while offering good set-and forget wifi performance. I am on gigabit fiber and I used a 3-pack of Eero pro 6 for the last 2 years with great reliability. The pro 6 gave me around 300-600mbps download speeds depending on location. My ISP recently offered 2 gig speed at a reasonable price and being the tech guy I am I decided to jump on it. I replaced my Eero pro 6's with these max 7's and I now get 600-1500mbps depending on location, and thats only on 6 or 6E devices. Once we get some native wifi 7 devices, we should see even faster speed. I also really appreciate the 2 10gb ports and the 2 2.5gb ports. Finally we have an Eero wifi device with ample wired options. You can have the satellite units (which are technically identical to the main router) wired or wireless. If you use wired ethernet to connect the other units, make sure you wire the other two units "downstream" of the main router unit. As with previous Eero products, these are very, very easy to set up. They use an app for everything and it uses the amazon cloud to provide continual data about your network that works the same regardless of if you're at home or not. You can see how much data each device is using and set various parental controls if desired. The app is well designed and easy to use. There aren't as many advanced wifi options as some expert users might want, but for those who want an easy option that works well, Eero is great. They are incredibly reliable and the max 7 appears to be no different. My main complaint about Eero systems have to do with the subscription to Eero plus. I used to have a $3/month one from them that provided extra functionality such as ad-blocking and other protections as well as more detailed data consumption and analytics. They had a $10/month tier as well which adds things such as 1password and a VPN service. Sadly, Eero discontinued the $3 tier and you now have to pay the $10/month even if you never want to use 1password or the other services. I wish Eero would bring back a cheaper subscription tier which doesn't have the extra services most won't use. For most users, the max 7 is overkill. If you have gig speeds or less, the pro 6 or pro 6e is good at a much lower price. But for those with a super fast fiber connection looking for an easy to use friendly app based wifi system, look no further.

Changed service provider after installation of bet CAT6A to each corner of my house. New 5gbps service came with 1 Max 7 unit. Picked up a Max 7 three pack on sale (still expensive) and was able to set up pretty easy. I think I may have a bit of “overkill” for my home as I have four units hardwired installed at each corner of the house but no more issues connecting anywhere in and out of my home. Neighbors are probably getting strong signals! Time will tell but these are working as desired and I have not had any issues even though each unit is overlapping each other. I am happy. Much batter than before.

I have been an early adopter of WiFi 7 because I have spent last 2 years on a journey to make a “smarter” house. In that time I have tried TP Link, Netgear, and Asus routers. Trust me when I say you will be happy with these routers. I am a non-IT guy and these were by far the easiest to setup AND THEY JUST WORK. I like not having separate SSIDs for IOT or the different bands. Everything just connects flawlessly and so much nicer to mange ONE SSID. I love them so much I also purchased a couple of their outdoor routers for our yard and garage. FINALLY, I have used their support line twice already and they were very responsive and helpful. Overall I am finally happy with my mesh system after 2 years of trial and error.

I've waited for a few months before I write this review as I want to make sure I was completely satisfied, and Eero Max 7 didn't disappoint! I'm so grateful for it and so happy that I made the jump from my previous Orbi 960 Series which was a $1500 (3-pack) and bought an extra satellite. My Orbi was constantly disconnecting from one satellite to another and I had to constantly restart the device which made my life miserable. I was hesitant to change as Eero wasn't a cheap replacement, but boy I was glad that I finally changed it. I've been using it for couple of months now and there's been LITERALLY ZERO disconnection from them. Not only that the range and the speed are working exactly how it described. I'm so happy I switched to Eero and would totally recommend this product to anyone. If you are looking for a solid stable connection, massive range, and high speed internet environment for your home, this is a must buy.

We ugraded from eero pro 6 to eero max 7 and the results are incredible. We have 115 online devices and my son likes to play games on play station, xbox, and gaming pc. We have all three eeros hard wired and i am getting on my iphone 15 pro 940 download and 925 upload speeds wirelessly. Our hard wired devices are getting 980 download and 980 upload. We have AT&T fiber 1000 plan. I had tried the Netvear 973 but i prefer eero beciase the app is better and eero only charges $100 for the eero plus which is a must better deal than the cost of all of netgears packages which you have to pay for after one year continued support, security software, and child monitoring which all total comes out to being well more than $100 yearly. We have been with eero from 2018 with our first mesh system the eero pro 5. We did try the eero pro 6e but that system had lots of issues so we returned it. We had been waiting for the eero max 7 since it was announced back in the summer. You won’t be disappointed amd the ease to set up and headache free. Eero has finally returned back to being a solid system less the eero pro 6e which i had heard from the pandemic did not have all the quality components eeeo had been known to contain. I am so thankful eero returned to excellence. Way to go eero.

Eero Max 7 mesh system if very easy to install. Had a question during installation and a call to customer service handled it quickly and efficiently. The mesh system has been working perfectly for about a month with no disconnects or resets required. Coverage is excellent with no dead spots. I highly recommend the Eero Max 7 to anyone looking for a plug and play solution for WiFi 7.

Jumped up from the EERO Pro 6 and love the added performance and coverage. The additional Ethernet ports are also a big plus, so I can remove the need to use small network hubs. Originally planned to move up to Pro 6E and am glad I waited.
