I needed to bridge two rather remote locations. I also needed PoE for the devices. I have used a lot of EERO in my previous installations. This time EERO & outdoor proved to be the best.

Runs like a river I’ve had no issues everything is smooth no problems
The idea is GREAT! As long as you place it away from any buildings or anything metal or concrete or wood. I put it on the back of my Garage and I have one node in my garage and 1 in the shed, and one on my patio and one in my master bedroom then an Eero 7 in my living room and some devices still have trouble getting signal ie: the Arlo Video doorbell and Arlo floodlight camera the smart TV’s stay connected most of the time but an outdoor WiFi is GREAT in theory! Not a lot of competition out there so this is a great idea

Was really excited to be able to have my outdoor coverage of WiFi back, my orbi was outdated and they don’t make them anymore so this works great

Went in for a stand-alone outdoor WiFi extender for our blink camera. I FINALLY found an employee to help me. He stated the only one they sold that would work was this product which was way more than I planned to spend but needed it so I went with his advise. Got home and started to install. Not only do you need this product, but anout expensive router/master control. I live an hour away from the Springfield, MO Best Buy and needed it very quickly. Went to Wal-Mart, bought a $49.99 Netgear extender (versus $400 for this product), and it worked perfectly. I’m sure the Erro brand is good - but there are much cheaper options out there of similar quality. They say you get what you pay for, but this brand is way overpriced with so many options out there.

Hello Dbamarsh,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the eero Outdoor 7. I'm sorry to hear about the frustration and inconvenience you encountered, especially given the long drive to and from the store. I understand how disappointing it must be to invest in a product only to discover it requires additional hardware you weren't informed about at the point of sale.
You are correct that the eero Outdoor 7 is designed to function as part of the eero mesh network system, meaning it requires an eero gateway router to operate — it cannot work as a standalone extender. This is a critical detail that should have been communicated to you before purchase, and I'm sorry that information was not made clear during your in-store experience.
The eero system is designed for whole-home mesh coverage, which provides advantages like seamless handoff between access points, unified network management through the eero app, and consistent speeds across a larger area. However, for a single-purpose use case like extending Wi-Fi to an outdoor Blink camera, a standalone range extender can absolutely be a practical and cost-effective solution, as you discovered with your Netgear device.
If you are still within Best Buy's return window, I would encourage you to return the eero Outdoor 7 for a full refund, as it is not the right fit for your specific needs without the additional eero router investment.
For your current setup with the Blink camera, as long as the Netgear extender is providing a stable 2.4 GHz connection with sufficient signal strength, your camera should perform reliably. Thank you for your feedback, and I hope this helps clarify the product requirements for anyone else considering the eero Outdoor 7.
