I was looking to get deeper Into home audio for music and music production. I’ve never owned a pair of passive speakers and only used active monitors for a while. I researched for days, looked at different reviews, did the homework on the technical stuff and settled on these based on quality and value ratings. I got some advice and decided to go with the Denon DRA 800H 2-channel receiver that gives about 120 watts per channel. Paired with the receiver amps, they sound powerful, have a wide range and nice punchy lows. Once my pockets can afford it I’ll get a subwoofer but I’m in no rush. The highs and mids are clear and cut through so nice. The lows are accurate and punchy but it won’t pound your chest like a subwoofer can. I still think the overall sound makes these a 10/10 for me and I’ve had a few good speakers throughout the years for reference points.

I had been using large Sony 4 way floor standing speakers that had 8 inch woofers for almost 10 years for both music and home theater. I had quantity but not necessarily quality. I saw the original Elac B6 speakers go on sale and started looking into them to use with my computer setup. Tons of positive reviews got my attention and i went to the local best buy to have a listen to these 2nd gen B6's. The sales person played my requested songs and i was blown away. Heard details that i had not heard in my favorite songs with my larger speakers. Was so impressed that i bought 4 of them, the matching center speaker and the subwoofer! Came home and listened to the "music" from my wife first and then set these up and am living happily ever after. Don't take my word for it though. Sound is such a subjective thing though and definitely audition these for yourself. These bookshelves are rated to go to 44hz and i certainly don't think the low end is lacking. For home theater use, a sub adds the presence and sound pressure for lack of a better description and i dont miss my floor standing speakers. Since the picture in this review was taken, i went ahead and added the dolby atmos height effect speakers as well.

I originally bought a pair for some "fill in sound" in the front sides of my 2 channel stereo system using a 125 watts per channel amplifier - two weeks later I bought another pair for my rear channel "fill in" using a 30 watts per channel amplifier not shown in picture - fills my room nicely!

The original Debut speakers pushed the bar on sound quality for relatively inexpensive speakers, but now the Debut 2.0 6.2 series has pushed the bar even further upwards. The newer 6.2 offer a flatter, more neutral, frequency response. The silk dome tweeter offers great clarity, but is not fatiguing like some more "forward" sounding speakers in this price category. I replaced some lower end Polk Audio speakers in my computer office with these and the difference is very discernible. Much better clarity, definition in the bass, and just overall better dynamics. If you are in the market from some speakers in the ~$300 range, you would do well to give these ELAC Debut 2.0 6.2 speakers an audition. I also liked that the bass port is curved such that no "chuffing" sounds are evident, even at moderate volume levels. And having that port in the front allows me to put them on a shelf closer to the wall without causing an unnatural rise in bass frequencies I chose these over the Klipsch RP-600M speakers because I needed something more neutral for equalizing live concerts I record while also getting great use out of them for general listening.

Good crisp sound that work well without a subwoofer. Great in a smaller space. Used as front channel speakers with a Sony AV receiver.

I haven't heard of the Elac brand until I started researching bookshelf speaker. Many sites raved about the original Elac debut. And these debut 6.2 speaker were supposed to be better than the original. Of course there are better speakers, but for the price, these speakers are amazing! I do not consider myself an audiophile. I just appreciate music and like to enjoy it as much as my budget allows. I have had many different brands of speakers...Bose, MTX, Pioneer, Polk, and most recent, Athena. I accidentally came across these speaker while on the Best Buy website looking at A/V receivers. I didn't need new speakers, but the Elac's were half off, so I researched them and then went down to audition them. Unfortunately, the entire Magnolia sound room where the Elac's were on display was not working. The sales associate apologized for the sound room being out of commission, and since the speakers were on sale, he suggested just getting it and if I didn't like it, I could always return it. Sold! When I got home and unboxed the speakers, I was surprised how big it was. These are big for 6-1/2" bookshelf speakers, so keep that in mind. All my previous bookshelf speakers were 6-1/2" drivers, and the Elac's have the largest cabinet box of them all. My A/V receiver is an older Yamaha model, which has A/B speaker switching. which makes it easy to do side by side comparisons. After hooking up the new speakers next to the Athena's and putting on some music I know well, I immediately heard a difference. First and most apparent was the sound stage. The Elac's are much wider and fuller sounding. Imaging was laser sharp with vocals dead center. The Athena's ($300 Audition series) sounded a bit thinner in the mid-range, but smoother in the mid-high range. The Elac's has a warmer, laid back type of sound. If you like a bright, in-your-face type of speaker, these probably would not be for you, and I'd recommend going with Klipsch. Some people love the sound of Klipsch, but for me, it's on the bright side. All depends on personal taste and preference. The only negative I have about the Elac's is that they don't sound that great at low volumes. Bass is weak at low levels, but turn them up a bit and they sound wonderful. Bass is tight and has punch. Midrange is warm. And highs are smooth, not harsh. I have listened to these extensively over the course of a couple of weeks and I have never had audio fatigue. Can't say that about some of the other speakers I've had. These won't compete with high end brands like Bowers & Wilkins, Def. Tech, and KEF, but I've heard them before, and these Elac's are close. Very close. These actually sound like much more expensive speaker. Amazing quality and value!

Bought these speakers to pair with my Onkyo TX-8220. Simple setup in a small apartment, provides a great quality sound out of a decently powerful receiver, and my turntable sounds great through these. I mostly listen to these at a low to medium volume, so I can't speak much to their peak loudness, but when I crank it up a bit I get some impressive bass and a full rich sound. They're a bit larger than I expected, but the size fits the sound. Excellent quality.

I had heard about these speakers a while ago through CNET and a youtube channel - The Audiophiliac. After that I kept reading rave reviews on different audiophile related websites - whatthehifi.com, stereophile.com, and otheres. All of them were amazed at the sound quality these speakers produced for the price. I agree. I have had these speakers for about a month now. My system is definitely entry level - a marantz NR1403 AV receiver, a sony bdp-s6700 blu-ray player, a modi 3 DAC by Schitt audio. and a chromecast audio streamer. These speakers replaced a pair of bose 301 V's. I have the speakers on stands two feet out from the back wall and two feet out from the side wall. These speakers blow away the bose 301's I had before. I know that people will say, "of course they did, that's easy." The 301s were not terrible though and towards the end, properly mounted on stands they were ok - not great, but ok. The ELAC 6.2's are another creature entirely! They sing, they announce themselves, they let you know you are going to music that will sound great - and it does. Where to start? First with bass. It is clearly articulated, tight, and moves. My test track for this was Otra Dia Mas Sin Verte by Jon Secada. The midrange is balanced and well defined. Finally the highs - no problem there - smooth and again well delivered. Since purchasing them I have listed to a range of music - rock, classical, jazz, latin, big band, pop, etc. The Elac's handle all of these genres without a problem, and I hear more detail, presence, and dynamism in my music than before. Perhaps the best way I can express my satisfaction is to say that they are revealing speakers. Well recorded music will shine, and poorly recorded music/and sucky digital music will not - you will know right away. A week ago I listened to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories (download - mastered for iTunes) - it sounded amazing and I really discovered the album! It is a new favorite of mine. The same can be said of Portugal the Man's - I feel it still track. Older downloads and poorly ripped CDs not so much. Overall I am thrilled with my new speakers. I strongly recommend these speakers. These speakers are normally priced at $300, but were on sale during Christmas for $150 - an awesome deal!!

Great Speakers. I am amazed at the amount of bass and clear highs without being exaggerated. They need good clean power to sound their best. My Yamaha R-S700 makes them sing, even better than the $1600 avr at Magnolia. Truly a bargain.

I'm running a 2 channel stereo through a good Yamaha receiver, but I was having troube finding that clear, full sound I wanted without having to get massive floor speakers. I tried a pair of Klipsch R-15M bookshelf speakers, and while they were great on the high end, the middle and low were obviously lacking. I picked up a Klipsch 10" powered sub to fill it out, but no matter the frequency or gain, it either fell short or overpowered. The whole setup was unbalanced for me. But then I tied these out in the store, and they were amazing!! A full, clear, well-rounded sound that hits all the right notes without being too much, at any volume. All the employees were raving about these as I was looking at them, and it wasn't just a sales pitch. They sound just as brilliant at home, and I'm extremely happy with these!

I purchased these due to the rave reviews of all the top audiophiles combined with the fact my wife wanted me to get rid of a sub-woofer that she never really sees. My system at home is in den. It consists of a Krell Vanguard Integrated Amplifier streaming Tidal directly through the amp. I purchased these to replace an older pair of excellent Focal bookshelf's and possibly eliminate the matching sub-woofer. The speakers themselves performed excellent. They are a warmer speaker than the Focals and became warmer each day. They will blow away most speakers that cost 3 times as much. You'd be stunned. The look a bit cheap in the photos, but they are a quality build. They appear similar to when Andrew Jones designed the Pioneer line before beginning his work with Elac. Inside is what counts and that will come through as soon as you hook them up to a quality system. Unfortunately, I ended up returning them, as I had a hard time letting go of the sound of my Focals paired with the matching sub. That said, there is plenty of bass and they truly sound amazing for their size. Especially in a small room at lower volumes. I listen to a variety of music from classical to modern country. The sound stage is excellent. The price is what throws you for a loop, as you won't believe the speakers are $250 a pair. I wouldn't hesitate to by them.

These sound awesome connected to my 2 channel Arcam SA20. I tweeted Patrick Norton and he recommended 3 different speakers in my price range and these DB62's were one of them. I've read he has a more expensive pair of Elac's and raves about them, so I chose these per his suggestion. Man, for the price, I don't see how they can be beat. The sound is really great coming out of two bookshelf speakers. I think the porting has a lot to do with it. It has enough bass to sound great while still giving me clear vocals, mid's and highs. It reminds me of listening to a pair or quad setup from the 80's or the adults in my life in the 70's (yeah, I'm old), lol. We didn't need a sub to shake the stucco off the house, just some great lows and these do that. I'll leave the sub to my Onkyo 7.1 surround sound while watching the latest flick! Thanks Patrick for the recommendation should you ever see this.

These ELAC Debut 2.0 bookshelf speakers are the best speakers I've ever owned. I've had speakers that cost so much more than these and these blow them away. The sound is crisp, the detail is outstanding, the bass is thunderous. I use these with a Marantz Integrated Amp and a Clearaudio Concept Turntable. The perfect match for my set-up. I have a feeling I'll have these for a long time because they are built so well. When I do need another set of speakers I'm definitely buying ELAC speakers again.

These sound as good as speakers costing twice as much. Build quality is good. They look good, front firing port means they can hug the wall better than most bookshelves saving you space without sacrificing sound quality. Bass response is tight, articulate, and shockingly present for such a small driver. I’d have still bought them at a higher price.

The reviews on the ELAC speakers made me feel confident about this product. My room configuration is not ideal for listening to music. I was forced to put the speakers in opposite corners of a 20x15 room. The speakers are still new and need more time to break-in, but I am very pleased with the overall sound. My ear is not as refined as the some reviewers, but I consider ELAC speakers to be fine quality and good value.

Punchy and defined, using a Fosi Audio amplifier and a Douk Audio Tube preamplifier and they sound great. Great sounding speakers, a little overpriced but over all sound very full and bring your music to life. Once in a while Best But will them in sale, so jump on the opportunity when the price drops. Overall, clean and full sounding will definitely surprise you without a sub connected.

So I’ve been doing a lot of research for the right speakers, I won’t say “budget” because I feel it’s the rich people that are writing reviews and calling things that cost several hundred dollars, “budget” items. I initially wanted Klipsch because I had heard a Center Channel Klipsch somewhere so I was blown away, but I couldn’t find a matching set of 3 speakers, (that’s what everyone recommends, I don’t care if your L&R don’t match with Center). Anyhow these aren’t the loudest but they sound amazing. I did get their Elac Center, however these are quite good for dialogue that you don’t even need a Center. Where I could tell a difference was, while gaming, these are phenomenal. You do have to turn them up a bit. Limited option for stands for these, however I found some on Amazon. Make sure you get the stands that are heavy in weight and have a stand/ plate that’s wide enough.

I purchased these about 3 weeks ago and man do these sound nice! They sound a little better as they are played and broken in a bit. Some would say speakers don't need to be broken in but I disagree. I am pretty picky about my sound which can be a pain at times especially for my wife! I hear certain things in the music she just doesn't hear. I guess I would call myself a "poor audiophile". I have heard these described as clear but warm and I agree. The bass is pretty good and my sub is usually off when I listen to music.
