Customers are pleased with the sound quality and value of the Debut 2.0 Dual 6-1/2" 2-Way Center-Channel Speaker. Many appreciate the speaker's bass response, although some find the size to be a drawback. Positive comments frequently highlight the excellent sound quality, even comparing it favorably to higher-end systems. The relatively large size is the most common negative feedback.

The first movie I watched with this new center (which replaced a no-name pawn shop special) was The Fifth Element. The clarity and soundstage is just amazing. I'm going to enjoy home theater so much more than I did before. It's also excellent for playing music.

I recently got into the higher end budget audio game and started out with the Elac debut b6 bookshelves along with some small home theater in a box insignia speakers in a 5.1 setup. I love the b6s and their warm sound for listening to music in stereo. However, I quickly realized with my setup that I needed to upgrade the center channel to make voices in movies and music not sound so tinny (in 5.1) so I decided to get the matching Elac C5 center channel. I was somewhat disappointed with it after listening to a lot of music and movies through it. They maintained the same warmth of the b6 bookshelves which did not translate well to the dedicated vocals in my opinion. Movie voices were not very clear and listening to music with the C5 It sounded like the vocals (especially female vocalists or guys like Sam Smith) were muffled, like I was listening to them through a closed door. To my surprise the 2.0 series came out within a month of me getting the C5 and I pulled the trigger on the C6.2 after reading the CNET review. AJ seemed to have specifically addressed the aforementioned issue because the difference is night and day. Vocals are clear as day in music and movies and sound very crisp and natural unlike with the C5. Where I had to turn up the volume in movie dialog before they now come through like they are talking in the same room as I am. The sound quality outside of vocals is still phenomenal through the C6.2 like the b6s just a bit brighter as CNET goes into depth about, and I appreciate the front ports as it does sit somewhat close to the wall in my entertainment center. I was a bit concerned with the Best Buy demo C6.2 as the pegs on the grille didn’t line up with the holes on the speaker, and it literally was hanging on by two of the six pegs. My grille however fits just fine even though I leave it off most of the time. As far as looks go, I think it looks pretty good under the TV (without the grille) I know some were complaining about the looks of it but I think the removal of the silver pegs makes it a little lower profile and the vinyl wrap doesn’t seem to be as reflective as the old wrap was. Build quality seems just as good to me as any of the original debut speakers which is great in my opinion. All in all I am very impressed with the C6.2 especially when compared with the old C5 (already returned it), and it works well with the B6 bookshelves next to it. Planning on getting the B6.2s next and moving my current B6s to the rear to replace the small satellites I have back there now. 10/10 would recommend the C6.2, it sounds great!

I bought the Polk S35 at the same time as the Elac C6.2. Compared to the S35, this speaker is amazing. With the C6.2 I can clearly hear vocals, even lower pitched voices. Higher freq sounds are clear as well. I have been experimenting with my crossover and currently have it set at 80hz. Right now I am only running 3.0, mainly to test my different speakers. I front channels are currently Yamaha 6490s, which seem a bit bright compared to my JBL S38 speakers, but the Yamaha's compliment the C6.2 well.

Nice sound reproduction and dialogue is very clear. Louder is better with this C62. It's big so double check your planned area for space. Well-built and heavy. Got it on sale for $165, nice deal.

This is an excellent center speaker. It is clear, crisp and BIG. It provides excellent sound quality and can get pretty loud with no distortion however this is a very large center channel so you need plenty of room for it.
If you need a great center channel and not break the back this is a great one to consider.

Large speaker. Sensitivity is in the high 80s so beware of that when pairing with something of different brand. You may not get the full potential out of this line with a mediocre receiver. When switching to a dedicated amp with 200wpc there was a clear improvement in my case.

Honestly the Elac speakers are just amazing all-around. In fact I even traded in the Polk center speaker for an elac center and I never regretted it. Great treble, punchy and a distinct bass. The mids are perfect. You can crank up the volume and you wouldn't lose the distinct sounds, and the bass doesn't growl at all. Buy it, you'll love it. I do.

Exceptional performance for minimal investment. My only complaint is the size, but I can overlook that due to its value. I highly recommend this center for this price point (if you don’t mind the huge footprint!).

Excellent sound and can really put out some bass if needed! Replaced a Sony core center with this as I figured at the price why not (139). It really lets the movies shine. Loved it so much I tried the ELAC towers but they disappointed. Keeping this however as it is clear and loud and worthy.

This Elac Center speaker is great. You can't go wrong with Andrew Jones speakers. Beware, this center speaker is huge, make sure you have room for it.

Extremely modern and clean wooden enclosure. The bass drivers are very high quality and unique, great tweeter. This is not a flimsy center speaker. Sounds best with crossover set at 80Hz in my personal setup.

Very good sounding center channel, was going to go with the 5 inch, bit decided to go with 6 to match my debit 6.2 only issue is that it is quite big.

This was a great sounding speaker, the wife did not approve. It was too big. I have to say, I agree. It's on the large side, but with the entire ELAC system, sounded great. I returned it for a Motion i8 from Martin Logan instead, I'm happy with the purchase - but I will now switch from my planned ELAC bookshelves to the Martin Logan Lxi35 of Motion 6 speakers.

Sooo. When I first hooked it up it was horrible. Muffled and no highs. Blended in and couldn’t understand dialog. Then I remember my system had been set up automatically with a microphone for my old speakers. Ran the auto setup on my av receiver again and amazing. This center speaker know kicks butt. Amazing. Dialog is both crisp and bold. Low voices are low and full. Gave my system new and exciting life. I really am amazed every time I listen to it considering the price!!

I got this Center with Elac 2.0 L & R, those are phenomenal but this one I am a bit disappointed about. I wanted a Klipsch Center initially which sounded very nice and loud and clear, however they were sold out in summer/ early fall. My main purpose to upgrade my 3 front speakers was that I needed a real good Center. I considered DefTech 1000 also, but their Center was also sold out. I will say I put in below the AV receiver and lot of the self proclaimed sound guys say, Center should be in the middle or above TV. I could try repositioning this so it’s facing up, tilted instead of being parallel. It’s huge in size also, which is fine but it should perform like it also.

Very powerful and very clear sound. Using this as a center channel in a 5.1 setup - eventually going to 5.1.4. Using a Pioneer 9 channel receiver. This speaker has been great so far. No issues at all.

For my first purchase, I've spent pretty much time for reviewing center speakers. There are several excellent high-end speakers, but my purpose was to enjoy music from computer and iPhone in a small room. Among my last two candidates (this one v. Polk Signature S35), I chose this since this has bigger woofer size, which I think might be better for lower frequency sound (I don't have sub-woofer). I am very satisfied with this speaker.

This is a huge center speaker. Make sure you take that into consideration. I have the room so it's no problem. I feel like this speaker follows the same idea as the other Elac Debut speakers. Just good all around. I got these on sale so it's fine for the price. At full retail, I would probably consider other brands.
