Took a risk on this one based on the specs for the price. Dead pixels out of the box, colors are extremely inconsistent between programs/ games, sometimes over saturated, sometimes just washed out, even with calibration on NVIDIA control panel and with the on screen menu. Menu is not intuitive at all and hard to navigate. Not worth it at all. Wish I would have returned in time.

Element’s new 27 inch monitor is a budget friendly monitor and it surprisingly has a lot of features. First off, it features 1440p resolution, is Freesync and HDR10 campatible and can run up to 165Hz. The only way I can describe HDR is that the game put on a pair of sunglasses, it just makes everything darker, I usually just have it turned off. In the bottom right of the panel, there is five buttons, one is the on off switch, and the other ones are to navigate through the menus, weirdly enough there is a minus and plus buttons, according to the instructions these are supposed to move you through the menu when the menu screen is up, or if the menu screen is not up it acts as a volume up and volume down buttons. This was not the case for me, whenever I pushed these buttons it would bring me up to other options that weren’t available in the regular menu, I find this a little Bizzarre especially since the instructions say that it’s the volume up and down buttons. Like all TVs and monitors, I needed to tinker with the settings a bit, adjusting the brightness, contrast etc. to get the picture just right, or at the very least, right to me. Element included all the necessary cables in the box, besides the monitor and the base, they’ve included a HDMI cable, a BP cable. The all metal base is a nice touch, as well as the light up color wheel in the back. Unlike many monitors out in the market, this monitor has speakers, they are not the greatest but something is better than nothing in this case. This Monitor can also tilt forward and back, The bezels on the side in the top are very slim, and my favorite part is that my particular monitor has very little if any light bleed. There is definitely a lot of like here, for the price it’s a very nice gamer friendly budget monitor.

IF YOU WANT TO USE ANY XBOX (Series S or X) PLEASE READ!!! It doesn’t actually do 120Hz and 1440p at the same time. False advertising. Also the quality was terrible. It had messed up pixels. The hdmi cord I was send was broken and not usable. This is not console friendly. Another issue I had was ever 5-10 seconds the screen would shut off (the pictures took me about 10 minutes to take because I couldn’t navigate through the screen without it shutting off.). It makes it unusable. It’s disappointing. I contacted Element Electronics and their support team and they did nothing. They pretty much told me to figure it out myself. This is not Best Buy’s fault. This is the company Element Electronics’ fault. My 2013 Insignia works so much better than this piece of junk. I’ll never buy another one of their products. Please don’t do this to yourself. Just buy something else.

Element's entry to the gaming monitor scene ticks off a lot of the right boxes but also kind if falls a little short in some. 1st of all, 27 inch bezel-less, 1440p, 1ms @ 165hz is a huge yes for me as that is my preferred gaming resolution. I think 2k gaming on 27-32" is perfect but to each their own. Setting up the monitor is easy and just required a Philips head screwdriver. In the box actually comes with everything you need to get yourself started and hooked up. Monitor, base, power brick, HDMI and a DP cable. This is actually where my 1 star in the review gets knocked off. The base is solid by all means but that's it. For a gaming monitor, the base is below sub par. Non adjustable except for tilt with no height or swivel options at all. If you look at the pics, I put a ream of 500 paper and it was the perfect height to match my other monitors. Yes you can remedy this whole thing because it is 100x100 vesa compatible. Performance is excellent. After setup, Windows 11 automatically found the monitor but set it with 60hz instead of the 165hz it can handle. Just need to go to Display Settings - Advanced Display - Choose the monitor - Refresh Rate 165. I may have won the QC lottery as out of the box, Colors were surprisingly on point and required very minimal tweaking on my end and I had barely little to no backlight/edge bleeding. Gaming was fun and was just as great as my other 27" 1440p screens from big name companies. Being an IPS panel gave me excellent viewing angles and never noticed washed out images or ghosting. Oddly enough, instead of the more common "nipple" stick to navigate the screens OSD, you have to use the 5 bottoms beneath the monitor itself. Took me a little bit to get used to it. In the end, the monitor is excellent and performs just as well as the other big boys in the playground. If you use a mounting system instead of stands then it's even better. Also to note, this monitor does have built in speakers. As I use DP only and have a dedicated sound system, I never bothered with this option.

Great Budget Monitor, but Tough Price Competition

TLDR: Budget friendly high refresh rate QHD IPS Monitor for PC gaming. Three inputs: DP1.2 @ 165Hz, HDMI2.0 @ 144Hz, HDMI1.4 @ 60Hz. 1ms MPRT. FreeSync works fine with Nvidia cards. Supports 100mm x 100mm VESA. Very noticeable backlight bleed. Colors look washed out for an IPS monitor, but still better than VA or TN. Not quite frameless when there is an additional border around the LCD. Tough to consider when other brands are starting to discount their premium models in the same class. For a 1440p gaming monitor, this one hits all the important marks. An IPS monitor at 165Hz with FreeSync Technology. And at its price point, it seems like a no-brainer. I think most who consider this for PC gaming won’t be disappointed. But the biggest problem I see is its competition. There are a couple of notable, highly rated QHD monitors that have been discounted at around the price of the Element, yet outperform it overall. As far as usage, it’s not a complicated monitor to navigate. The buttons are situated at the bottom right of the monitor. Navigating the OSD is straightforward and the most important thing to do while in the menu is to turn FreeSync on. Maybe set the color temp to sRGB while you're there. Adjustability is only limited to tilt; that means no height adjustment and no pivoting. If you already have a VESA mount, you’re probably better off using that. Speaking of mount, it does have a cool RGB ring around it, but I haven't figured out how to control its rainbow loop. Anyway, if you're looking to buy two of these and have one stand portrait out of the box, you're out of luck. As far as panel performance, it's just o.k. I don't mean the refresh rate. That's all fine and dandy. It's the IPS panel. Consumers get the IPS panel for its better color reproduction and darker blacks, but I felt that it was lacking in this department. Images are dull or washed out for an IPS. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. There is also a very noticeable backlight bleed. Docked a star here overall. All things considered (especially price), it’s not a bad monitor. I'd say if you're on a gaming budget AND there isn't another highly rated 1440p/144Hz or better monitor at a discounted price, then you can grab this one.

The Element 27" Frameless Gaming monitor is a great addition to my desktop for gaming. The size, brightness, and resolution brings out the beauty of my gaming environments. Unboxing and Setup The monitor is securely packed in Styrofoam and easy to remove from the box. The base and vertical stand has to be attached with a single Philips screw then the anchor plate on the vertical stand attaches to the back of the monitor with 8 Philips screws. The bottom base has rubber pads for protecting the desktop. There are holes for VESA mounting, if desired. The stand allows for tilting, but not for height adjustment. The weight is very light and can easily be moved around. I appreciate that the base of the stand does not extend past the front of the monitor when I have it slightly tilted up. I hate to give up desk space to a huge monitor stand. Although, I am a little disappointed in the limited tilt range of the monitor. When I stand up to work, I place a shim under the base to tilt it up more. The HDMI, DP, USB, Audio Out, and power cable ports are easy to access. The back of the monitor has a lighted ring that rotates through the color range when on. Monitor Use My Windows 10 computer easily recognized the monitor without any special configuration. The monitor on-screen menu is controlled via buttons on the bottom right Since I have a GeForce GTX 1070 card for graphics, I enabled the FreeSync setting, which enables adaptive sync for high performance graphics. I am very pleased with the brightness, the resolution, and the size of the monitor. My primary games are Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and No Man's Sky. Both of these games are amazingly beautiful on this monitor. it still performs nicely with Microsoft's Flight Simulator and No Man's Sky. While the monitor does have built-in speakers it is hard to get much volume. I recommend using external speakers or a headset for gaming. Tested with Novabench and obtained a maximum 210 Frames per second. Features - Very thin 3-sided bezel for a frameless full screen view - Ports: HDMI 1, HDMI 2, USB, DP Audio Out, Power - VESA mount compatible - 2560 x 1440 resolution, DLED display, .2331 mm pixel pitch - Brightness: 250 cd/m2 - 16.7 million colors - 3,000:1 contrast ratio - IPS LCD with LED backlight - 1ms response time - 165 Hz Refresh with DP, 144 Hz with HDMI - Predefined modes for Standard, Gaming, Movie, and Internet - HDR support - Color Temp settings - On Screen menu position can be changed - Adjustable image ratio - Adjustable refresh rates from 59.95Hz to 164.99Hz Overall I am very pleased with the Element Frameless Gaming monitor. The quality feel and performance is perfect for my gaming at a very decent price.

THE BREAKDOWN: The Element 27” IPS gaming monitor comes packages nicely and included both display port and HDMI cables. I found this excellent since usually you only get an HDMI cable. The monitor was well protected by Styrofoam. I was worried as my box had a big gouge on the face of the box and the monitor screen was undamaged. The assembly was pretty straight forward but instructions were lacking. The overall feel of the monitor and frame is kind of cheap feeling as the plastic is not that elegant. I do like the thin bezel of the monitor though. For me one of the biggest let downs of this monitor is that you cannot adjust the height. This monitor is fixed height with only tilt adjustment. I had to place books under the stand base to line it up with my other 27” monitor. One of the nice things about this monitor is that it has several connectivity options. It has two HDMI inputs (one is 2.0 and the other is 1.4) and one DisplayPort 1.2 port. There is a USB port that provides power only to other devises and it also has a headphone jack. To change the input, you use the button under the E on the bottom right of the monitor. To navigate through the menus is little tricky, it actually reminds me of one of my first tv’s with this option where you have to just use the buttons to see what they do. Just a note, this monitor does have an HDR option. This option to me didn’t really improve the image only made the screen very bright. You can adjust the settings to 16:9 or 4:3. There is also a nice feature of an on screen crosshair that you can use for shooter games. The panel performance is just okay for me. Normally, you get the IPS panel for great colors and deeper/darker blacks but this is lacking. There is a blue hue to the colors sometimes the colors seemed washed out. It isn’t bad but it isn’t the best either. I also noticed there is a lot of backlight bleed. The gaming performance despite the panel performance initially was very good. I found that there was fluid gameplay even in fast moving situations. Overall, great response time. The refresh rate was really great paired with AMD FreeSync. The speakers that are on the monitor are really lacking and basically bad in every way. The sound is terrible and to boot they are facing away from the user. PRO’s: - 1440p QHD - IPS Panel - 165Hz refresh rate - 2 HDMI ports, 1 DisplayPort and 3.5mm audio CON’s: - There is no height adjustment on the monitor - The speakers are terrible - backlight bleed SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

Over the last few years, gaming monitors have gotten ridiculously good. Resolutions have gone up, panels with high refresh rates and low latency have become the norm, and HDR has brought a new depth of color that’s gotten nerds everywhere to start actually caring about color fidelity. Unfortunately, prices for these devices have moved in lockstep with their specs. Element is one of the latest budget minded manufacturers to offer all these new innovations at bargain bin prices, and largely succeeds in doing so. That said there are some compromises present that I imagine most who’ve owned this kind of device will find very familiar. I’ll start with the good news: the actual LCD panel here is quite good. Admittedly this is always going to be a bit of a grab bag since the most common way for manufacturers like this to cut costs is to buy the panels originally manufactured for higher end monitors which ended up being discarded due to failing quality control checks, but if the one I got is at all representative of what they’re buying I don’t think you need to worry too much. There were no dead pixels in sight, it had no issues maintaining the refresh rate it’s rated for, and colors are a lot more vibrant and clear than I’ve come to expect from a monitor at this price point. The viewing angles are also as generous as you’d expect for an IPS panel, so you don’t have to go through the usual dance of constantly adjusting your seat, posture, and monitor tilt to find a good spot to game from like you do with a lot of larger monitors these days. The backlighting is a bit anemic and unsophisticated, particularly for a panel that advertises HDR capability, but it’s certainly better than you’d get from most monitors aimed primarily at office use. Truth be told if I had the equipment necessary to check for compliance with the HDR spec I have my doubts it would actually pass, and their particular implementation of FreeSync seems to be a big laggy and as such still suffers from occasional screen tearing. But even a partial success in these areas is better than something that doesn’t even make the attempt in this case. Buyers should be aware however that this is not the out-of-the-box experience. For whatever reason just about every feature that can be employed to make the picture look good is disabled by default – requiring me to spend a few minutes navigating through menus toggling things on. So if you do buy one of these things, don’t be too surprised if the out of the box experience isn’t quite as good as you might expect. It can, in fact, do better. Now that I’m through that though, it’s time to step back and talk about everything that was sacrificed to hit this price point. As is common with these kinds of monitors, most of the cuts came at the expense of build quality. The minimalist metal stand is reasonably hefty and slots together well enough, but will likely prove frustrating to anyone who’s gotten used to the snap-and-go construction that’s become popular today. There are nine separate screws holding everything together, none of which are captive and two of which bound up during installation due to what turned out to be burrs in the threaded sockets. Pretty much everything else is stamped metal covered in cheap plastic, with visible panel gaps in a few places. The manufacturer’s logo and the legend for the OSD are both cheaply stenciled onto the front bezel, and while the logo came out pretty good the legend’s mismatched font and fuzzy paintjob is decidedly off-putting and clashes with the minimalist aesthetic they’re going for. Speaking of, let’s talk a bit about this frameless design. If you look at the picture on the box, you’ll likely be under the impression that when the monitor is on it’s using every last mm of space to fill out the frame, leaving you with just a tiny little black border at the edges. This is most definitely not what you’re getting. There is a generous 5mm dead zone built into the panel itself, as well as an extra 1mm gap between the panel edge and the frame. Also, the edges of the panel itself are a great argument for having a bezel. There are an abundance of tiny chips and bubbles in the panel that were likely ignored at the factory because the expectation was that it would be fitted into a more conventional frame. The result is something that loses its ultra-modern styling the moment it gets turned on, and will likely prove to be a dust trap over time. So… given all this… I’m still rating it at four stars. I do find some of their marketing decisions here to be questionable and some of the specs inflated. But at the end of the day, they are making their cuts in the right places. Fixing panel gaps or refusing to buy LCDs with less than perfect lamination around the edges might make the unit more Instagram worthy or increase the odds that the thing will still be running a decade later. But that’s not a typical use case for most of us, even if sometimes we’d like to imagine otherwise. This is a monitor for the more budget minded gamer who are only after something that’ll do everything they want and wait to die until it’s been rendered obsolete. So long as you don’t go into it expecting everything you’d get with premium device, which if I’ve done my job you won’t, this is a solid option for your desk.

Gaming monitors are prevalent on the market now and available in many sizes and price ranges. This Element monitor comes in at a pretty adequate size for my gaming needs, as I find the 27" frameless to be ideal for my space availability. The Element brand doesn't quite jump off the page as others do, but this monitor is a solid contender in this space. With this Element 27" LED I'm getting a monitor with 1440p QHD at 165hz refresh rate. Perfect for my needs when I'm gaming online or using it as my monitor for my daily work activities. I also really like the RGB light ring on the rear for a nice ambient light while in the low lit or dark room. There are 2 HDMI ports, 1 DP port, 3.5mm audio output, and also built in downward firing speakers on the monitor. I have been pleased with the brightness of the monitor and the crisp picture quality has been really nice. I have not noticed any lag or any issues with video clarity while playing Battlefield V for example. I only used this monitor with the stand which is easy to assemble with the screws provided for the neck and also the v shaped base. The monitor weighs appx. 10 pounds and looks quite nice when set out on my desk. I think it's a good budget friendly choice for a gaming monitor with this output and 27" size.

The Element 27" 2k 165Hz Gaming Monitor (EM3FGAB27BS) is a great 2k gaming monitor option for those looking to take a nice step above HD gaming and have a quality screen. The monitor comes with everything needed to set it up in addition to an extra video cable. It includes a metallic stand, power cable, Display port cable, and an HDMI cable. The monitor has 2 HDMI ports (1 v2.0 and 1 v1.4), 1 DisplayPort (v1.2), and 1 3.5" audio aux output. The monitor also has built in speakers and a rear ring shaped RGB light that can be adjusted to your preference. Physical buttons to power on and adjust monitor settings can be found on the underside of the plastic monitor housing. The best distinguishing aspect you will notice of this monitor is the IPS panel display. Colors look great and the resolution is stunning out of the box. It is what you expect a 2k monitor should look like and is a fantastic upgrade from 1080p HD. The picture stays looking great at multiple viewing angles as well and the frameless design is a nice added touch. I did notice some backlight bleed from the monitor although not as much as others have advertised. Overall, text and images look sharper outside of just gaming. Something to note is settings like the screen aspect ratio, HDR, and AMD Freesync can all be changed from the screen's settings menu. HDR and Freesync are disabled by default. While gaming, AMD FreeSync paired well with my PC and was able to achieve smooth gaming at 120 - 165fps in 2k resolution. AMD's FreeSync helped adjust the framerate on the go and kept lag to a minimum. The movement from players in fast paced shooting games looked great. What should've only been a couple of game sessions would turn into hours of gaming. (Note: Frame rates can vary from computer to computer depending on a computer's hardware such as the processor and a graphics card with and without AMD FreeSync support). Now for the downsides. The monitor lacks height adjustments. This a bit of a letdown as you are unable to adjust the height of it unless you use a third party monitor mount. Another blow to the monitor is the built in speakers' quality. Audio sounds tinny and lacks bass or fullness. Although they can be good to use for Zoom calls, I would recommend using a better set of speakers for gaming and listening to music. Lastly, I would've loved to see the monitor have a USB C video output. Overall, the Element 27" 2k 165Hz Gaming monitor is a great choice for those looking for a stunning display and would to get the best bang for their buck. It is a very nice upgrade from a standard HD monitor and you will not be disappointed.

I have. been using the 27" Element Gaming Monitor for several days now. I have mixed feelings about this monitor that range from Average to Good and on balance think there's enough to note to give it a 3.5/5. Since Best Buy doesn't do half points, I am giving it 3/5 since there are a few watch-outs even if the Element Gaming Monitor is a great value. Out of the box, the Element Monitor is incredibly good value. It's a QHD, FreeSync compatible monitor with inbuilt speakers, with 2x HDMI ports and 1x Display Port. In the box (see photos) it comes with HDMI cables and Disport Port cables so there is literally nothing else to buy - you're ready to go out of the box. I tested the Element 27" Gaming Monitor on my home-built gaming PC that has an RTX 3070. Pro-tip, connect via Display Port for the best frame rates. I am getting 144fps on Valorant and Fornite (no lag) and about 126fps on Destiny. The picture is clear, sharp, and responsive (1ms). I didn't test gaming on HDMI, because that will give you a lower fps, but my work laptop is a Mac, and the HDMI display on the Mac had no issues. FYI, if you want to use FreeSync you need to turn it on in the OSD menu, it's not on by default. I will note something odd about the Element Gaming Monitor. The manual instructions don't match the day-to-day realities of the monitor. The manual says you can adjust the speaker volume by using the +/- buttons but the only way to actually adjust the volume is via a sub-menu in OSD. True, most pro gamers won't ever use inbuilt speakers (I use a gaming headset) but what is odd, is the menu brings up an OSD of a cross-hair/target symbol that will stay on the screen with no explanation as to why... not seen anything like this before on any monitor. The Element Gaming Monitor is also not truly frameless. In tests across multiple PCs, inputs, and devices there's a 1/4" black bar around the left, right, and top of any picture but (oddly) not the bottom of the screen. I even tested this with a Roku stick in the HDMI port in case it was a weird driver issue on all of my devices. It's just odd that the display is flush to the screen bezel on the bottom of the screen but not anywhere else. FYI, the Element Monitor does have a USB port, so I could power my Roku direct from the element - so with in-built speakers, it would be a great hybrid gaming and entertainment monitor, great for a dorm room. Speakers are rear-mounted. One thing gaming monitors often have is RGB lighting. The Element Gaming Monitor has an RGB ring on the rear. It's not programmable or customizable and sort of has a breathing pattern as it rotates through the various colors. It's not that bright, so it doesn't bother me but yes, you can turn off the RGB light. Overall, mixed feelings. If you get this at the right price it's great value and good for all round. I love the size. A 27" in a monitor is perfect and I have never felt so immersed in games and the fps I was getting on the Element, colors, no lag, etc. was good. The display is good. But, Best Buy often has deals and I would compare with what else is on sale and offer as the little bugs (not frameless, menus don't match manual, etc) mean you may be able to spend the same on a better-known brand.

The monitor is great. My laptop doesn't support display port, so I'm using HDMI, which gets 144 fps. If you use display port, you'll get the full 165 fps. Build quality is good. Resolution is good as well. I've been using 1080p monitors, and going to 1440p is an amazing change. The only bad thing that I can say for this monitor is that the unit that I got has a dead pixel (which is not a big deal because it's only visible only on darker colors and the location of it isn't in the center, so it's not an eyesore.) The speakers are meh, and a good additional feature, but I never use it. Overall, really good monitor for the price.

solid budget monitor. i caught it on sale for $200. good picture. the built in speakers work fine for retro gaming, but for anything else i recommend some external speakers. the on-screen display for picture settings is a little clunky, but you get used to it. removed the base and used a vesa mounted monitor arm. not a flashy name brand, but a solid budget monitor if you catch it on sale.

As a longtime gamer, this is the first monitor I haven't had issues with. This monitors specs. (resolution, response time, Hz, etc) exceed of what you need for a basic gaming monitor. This is a great price for a competitive gamer! Highly recommend!
