I had a battery powered leak sensor in the tray under my water heater. It would sound an alarm if it sensed a leak. If I was not home that was just my bad luck. When the battery was low, it would start to beep, usually waking me in the middle of the night. This new sensor comes with an automatic shut off valve that shuts off my water main if it sense a leak and notifies my smart phone! While the shut off valve plugs in, the sensor is still battery operated but its a much longer life lithium battery. The unit comes with three sensors to place where ever there might be a leak. My only complaint is that the Android and Apple apps are a little glitchy during the setup process. However, once set up, they seem to work fine.

I bought this for the shut off valve capabilities as I live in a 2nd floor apartment and the valve for my washing machine isn’t accessible in the closet, so it gives me peace of mind to know if there’s a leak, the main valve in the basement will shut off all water to the house. My only complaint is that the sensors are bigger than I expected and can’t be pushed under the machine. Of the 3 sensors that came with the system, only 2 have extensions with smaller sensors. It is unfortunate that the main sensors aren’t really usable unless you have an appliance that is higher off the floor.

This thing really does protect your home.. just a few drops of water and it will turn your main valve off and then notify you as to which room and what appliance is leaking.. awesome
