Tinkering around is a must. Tried with GoPro 9 and it was locked at 720p. Tried with my Sony Zve10 and it was crystal clear, but plugged my song in without and it looks the same. Idk I’m 50/50. If you don’t have a nice mirrorless camera that’s maybe over 3 years old this might be what you want. But if you have a gopro just sell it and get the Elgato webcam at 1080. Almost as good as my mirrorless but starts to distortion when you start to zoom in over 15%.

This is a fantastic addition to my streaming set up. I picked a few up for adding a Canon DSLR for use as a webcam and adding an Xbox feed to my PC for streaming is plug and play with it as well. Check it out or ask me questions on my stream at www.twitch.tv/sidewindermedia

Trying to stream in quarantine and this is what people told me to get. So far have only been able to figure out how to stream in 720p not the 4K or 1080. But atleast it’s better than my phone.

I've been wanting to get the Cam Link 4k since the beginning of the year, then COVID hit and it was sold out everywhere. As a substitute, I purchased a Black Magic Ultrastudio Mini Recorder. Although it worked well when it did, it was very fickle and my iMac would not recognize it half the time.
When the Cam Link 4k became available, I immediately picked it up. It works flawlessly on both my iMac and my Dell laptop. Just plug it into the computer's USB port and and feed it HDMI signal. So simple and works every time. I use it mainly for MS Teams and Zoom meetings. I've also tried it with OBS with no problem.
As for the feed, I've use Nikon Z6 and Panasonic Lumix G7 on 4K setting with no issue. I can also send HDMI signal from my laptop to my iMAC for screen recording.
All in all, this is a great product and I'm happy with the purchase!

Works well with a Canon R7 and Canon R5. Was able to add them both successfully as a camera source for OBS and also Streamlabs without any issues. Quality is great and overall pleased with how it's working out.

I should probably start with saying that I stream on Twitch, and I wanted to make use of my Nikon D5200 DSLR camera since it’s been sitting sadly in a corner collecting dust. I do not use this for Zoom/Skype meetings, however I have used it for a single Discord video call. I will also list my PC specs at the end of this review for reference.
The reason I chose the CamLink is because a couple friends I have who stream also use this device, so I figured this would be the best option since they know way more than I do about what the best hardware is specifically for streaming.
It’s genuinely just plug and play. I had no issues with making it work with my Nikon. HOWEVER, I’ve flashed custom firmware onto my Nikon D5200 that bypasses the auto shutoff timer. If you’re not comfortable with modding your camera (assuming there’s modded firmware that can bypass your camera’s auto shutoff feature), I would find a different camera that natively has the option to disable auto shutoff if cost isn’t an issue.
Integration with SLOBS (StreamLabs OBS) is fantastic. I can use the CamLink 4K alongside my Elgato 4k60 PRO with zero issues. I can also switch between PC and console game scenes and the CamLink is not affected and doesn’t lag.
All in all, I have zero complaints about the Elgato CamLink 4k, and I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent, easy to set up and nothing required to download.
I needed to be able to attach two exterior cameras to a laptop for better quality live-streaming.
I plugged the Cam Link into the USB on the side of my laptop running Windows 10 Pro.
The Sony AX-100, the Sony AX-700, and the Nikon Z7 were each immediately compatible and showed up in my zoom setup as the camera choice for streaming.
I could not be happier. I was glad I did not have to download any software to my computer for this to work, it's plug-and-play.
Up until I purchased this capture device, I relied on the Logitech Stream Cam. It was ok, but I couldn't control the exposure, f-stop and frame rate other than through the very limited zoom or capture software. With this unit, I have total exposure control.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their image/video quality during live-streaming. Your quality is only going to be as good as the camera you attach. Go DSLR, or Mirrorless. Don't waste time with usb-cams.

Convenience/Quality to use it: 9/10
The Cam Link is actually great and all when it's all set up and ready to be used - it's pretty easier than I thought.
However, there will be some issues when setting it up depending on which DSLR camera or other camera you use while connecting with the HDMI. Other than that, it does give 4K quality of the image and the frame rate is very smooth while streaming and also recording.
Quality (Physical) of the Device: 7/10
Downside is that the device can be pretty hot sometimes, and the USB male part is pretty weak where it might bend hard.
Price: 7/10
Price is pretty expensive for the quality of the device because of that USB male part bending, and overheating issue.
Overall: 8/10
I think Elgato can do better job. But I hope they'll make a stronger and durable version of the device or at least have USB-C compatible one in the future.

Its a good one trick pony. If you don't need the fancy loopback output of the regular capture cards this usually will do the trick. Because its small, and older, it has some quirks in order to correctly get working in your programs. Sometimes I have to unplug once or twice and switch to the active Cam Link 4K in the program despite it already being selected. I believe this is due to it acting like an entirely new device each time its connected. Its found every camera I've thrown at it and even a few external devices such as an Xbox or PC.
