Another elgato product that does not disappoint. I hooked this up with the cable that DOES not come included if you don’t have it depending on your camera..I have a A7 IV so yeah. This is perfect. Crystal clear picture especially on OBS and easy to use.

I purchased several of these for a livestream -- all worked beautifully. We were filming and saving in 4k/30 and streaming at 1080p. These kept up just fine and worked as expected.

Yes, this little dongle is both pricey and rare to find, but I can tell you that it's absolutely worth the money. My Cam Link 4K pumps out video from my DSLR like a champ, and I have high hopes that it'll last me at least a decade, if not longer. My only criticisms are (1) that the device can get pretty hot, and (2) the housing feels a little cheap and plastic-y. Still, these are secondary issues, and my overall satisfaction with this product is very high.

Like everyone else, I tried to get one of these at the beginning of the pandemic to use with a DSLR for a higher quality webcam setup. And like everyone else, I couldn't because it was sold out everywhere and I didn't want to pay inflated prices to scalpers for one. Fast forward a couple of months and many marketplaces were flooded with cheap FHD 1080p USB 2.0 capture cards. I bought 3 of them because they were that cheap (you could buy 10 of them for the price of the Cam Link 4K). For most people, the cheap capture cards could work just fine. For my setup, they had a huge flaw - latency. My video feed was going through the capture card, but my audio was going directly to my computer via a higher quality microphone. Due to the additional latency added by the processing of the video stream, I had the dreaded lip sync problem. This Cam Link 4K has a nearly imperceptible latency impact to the video stream. If video and audio synchronization matters for your use case and you don't want to spend outrageous $$$s for a more professional system, then the Cam Link should be near the top of your list.

Boost the video feed for online conferences

In planning an online conference, stepping up the video presentation from a computer camera to a video or 35mm camera was important. The Elgato Cam Link 4K was the simplest, most effective way to do this. With an HDMI-mini to HDMI cable attached to the camera and the Cam Link, which plugged into a USB port on the computer, the image quality was immediately available and substantially improved. It couldn't be easier to use!

It works very well for using my GoPro for videochat/streaming. I like that it has a small dongle to let it hang from the computer so you don't have to worry about too much physical stress being put on the USB connection. Be aware it does have minimum computer requirements. My computer runs noticeably slower while using it, but it also is below the minimum requirements so I can't fault the Cam Link.

it works perfectly for me - connected it to the Sony A7IV to my Macbook Pro M2 and received 4K30 for video capture on ecamm - no problems yet! Plug and play, the mac found it easily enough and ecamm recognized it for quick streaming.

Works great. Simply plugin and it works. However, the design could be better. It sticks out too much when you plug it into the pc directly. And gets quite hot.

The plastic is flimsy and the device itself is way too large and bulbous to fit in my USB slots when anything else is plugged in. Functionality is OK but be aware you'll want to be savvy with Audio/video settings if you're working with OBS or something. Also, there's no native software to just *view* the video source, which feels... Dumb? I'm also dealing with an issue where the Audio continues to lag behind the video, and there seems to be no solution. Tested with: Switch PS4 OXB

This has a lot to do with the law of diminishing returns. A 50$ but now 100$ is ok and usable. The next step is a 200$ web cam and the quality is shot up by 35%. The next step is this cam link with an old gopro for about 2-300$ with the link and you get 100% improvement. The cam link is great because it is plug and play. You can get some gopros to work with paid and free software but its unintuitive, clunky and requires setup every time. You can use your phone but then your phone is tied up as the webcam and they its back to being on dial up internet lol. The cam link also lets you use DSLR and other high end cameras. This is where it falls off though. DSLR are about 500 to start then you need the lens for another 3-500. The quality bump is about 10-15% for 800-1000 dollars. Is the 700$ worth the 10% gain? If you already own a dslr or better camera, or can get one on the cheap this is a no brainer just buy the Cam Link. So really the cam link is the sweet spot for the most bang for the buck when paired with a gopro, plug and play, and no IT experience required.

this is actually my second time purchasing this product, I love it!! I just made the mistake of not having protection on the first one. Definitely treat it delicately because it could get messed up like how an old charger has to be twisted in order to work. It is easy to use and works phenomenally

I plugged my DSLR camera into the Cam Link 4K, and plugged the Cam Link into my MacBook Pro. The computer, without any drivers, saw the Cam Link as an additional webcam. It works fine.

Really good device and functions as advertised. Best part is it is 100% plug and play. I use Streamlabs OBS as well as standard OBS and it recognizes the cam link input automatically. A little configuration is required, but that’s only for your settings and filters. Does not play well with filter applications like Nvidia Broadcast software (only applicable if using Rtx 2060 and up) but if you’re just looking for a cam through, this is an affordable option to get the job done.

works way better than a webcam, bought a new Canon EOS Revel SL2 and this work perfect with it to give me a very clear video quality image. I love it, easy set up as well. Probably could be cheaper for about $99 in my opinion, but still a great purchase.

Able to connect a Sony a7 III with no issues. It does get warm if left plugged in, even when not in use. So I have started to remove when not in use. Not sure if the heat will reduce performance, but I do it as a preventative measure. The software was easy to use and had no issues. I got it on sale so would defiantly recommend if you can get on sale.

Wonderful! It works just as advertised! It’s plug and play. I was able to plug my Sony A6100 in and use it as a webcam with awesome audio from the camera. It does drain the battery so you will want to have extra batteries for your camera but it doesn’t drain fast so you can use it for alarm 2 hours. Works for me!
