The HD60 X may have some decent improvements, but this is Elgato's last USB option that supported multi-app use. With the discontinuation of both this and the HD60 S your next option is the Cam Link Pro & 4K60 Pro. Which may be overkill depending on your use-case.

Originally when I was looking for a capture card, I thought it would just be recording what I was playing on my PS4 then I'd plug it in to my PC and edit the video. This is not the case. It has to be plugged in to the PC while being used on the PS4 or Xbox, which ever you have, so it can be recorded through the Elgato game capture software. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like that, but after the first use I was extremely happy with the result. I'd recommend using Streamlabs OBS with this if you want to record or stream because it makes it a little easier to use, especially if you want to do voice overs. If you use the Elgato game capture software to do voice overs there is a slight delay in the voice recording and you can hear it through your speakers or headset, whichever you use. I highly recommend it. It does only record at 1080p, so if you want 4K you'll have to look at the higher grade capture cards.

First, it doesn't upload 1080p to YouTube. It says on the program clearly that it's 720p. Which is fine, for the price. Otherwise, I have no issues. Well....minus ONE.
I've seen this issue on forums. I've contacted Elgato's costumer service who couldn't provide me with a solution. (Though, their costumer service really is fantastic)
For whatever reason, there's this static noise that comes through the audio for the program on your computer when your listening to the game audio through it. This is whether you're going through your computer's speakers or a set of headphones. Typically, switching between that screen and the editing portion back and forth can make it go away. Sometimes I'll unplug the cable to the capture card in and out to try to fix it.
It's not a big issue though, because this audio annoyance does NOT show up on the final product as far as recordings go. So, it's just an inconvenience when you're recording. Otherwise, no issues.

The HD60S is a decent recording passthrough for your game console (PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch). It has the ability to record up to 1080p 60fps. You can also stream in real time to Youtube and Twitch. You can record your voiceover while you play if you have a microphone. This is not a standalone device. You will need to plug it into a computer to record your gameplay. There is a free editing software that you can download to edit your clips before uploading. It is not very in depth but is very user friendly if you have no editing skills or have never done it before. In all the time I've used it it has never frozen up or crashed while recording, so it seems to be very reliable in that regard. There's not a whole lot of other options for consoles out there so this may be your best entry option for solid gameplay recording, even though it's not cheap.

Elgato/Corsair's HD60 S works wonderfully to capture and stream online 1080p60 content over HDMI from the current generation of video game consoles. Because it's an externally-connected USB device, it works perfectly with Macintosh and Windows PCs alike. The Game Capture HD software is easy to use and understand, but note that the Mac version of the software lacks parity with the Windows version. There's always BootCamp, right Mac friends?
One last tidbit - although you can capture content from any HDMI source, be sure you understand what HDCP is before purchasing. Some consoles allow you to turn off HDCP via a settings screen, while other consoles force HDCP without a way to turn it off.

Moved to this from a Roxio Game Capture Hd Pro, and my oh my was it an improvement. It's so much easier to set up, and it just works! The Roxio would sometimes need to be reset or I may even have to restart my computer to make it work. Not so with the HD60S It works well, and the added bonus that I can play my games even from the window capture screen (with the quick response capture) is just icing on the cake.

I got this originally to stream games from my xbox to my iMac, unfortunately at the time I purchased I didn't realize my graphics card didn't support the Elgato. So after getting a gaming laptop I'd already planned on purchasing, I set it up with my Xbox and laptop.
For just a basic HD capture it was pretty easy to set up, however, I wanted to customize a few things, and even opted to purchase a separate 4K splitter to allow me to play my games in 4K while still capturing the 1080p footage. That took some time, but afterword, the Elgato did everything like a charm.
It takes up so little space, and it's nice that it comes with the USB cable.

After owning a Hauppauge HD PVR 2 for 5 years, I figured it was time to upgrade, and after buying this capture card, I wish I had gotten an Elgato in the first place. The quality is AMAZING. This capture card can record 1080p up to 40MBPS bitrate and 120fps (I don't know exact specifics on if you can do both at the same time, but Vegas recognized 120fps and Windows recognized 40Mbps bitrate). I've had no trouble with it the few months I've had it and it's just all in all a wonderful capture card for anyone, be it a streamer starting out (like me), or a veteran streamer, this capture card is the best you can get for the money.

This capture card is easy to use and works as promised. Easily captured gameplay on my Xbox one. The editing software included works well and in no time I was making high quality videos to stream and share. I would recommend this and the brand is well known for ease of use and quality. The unit is small which makes portability easy. One small issue I am trying to resolve is a small square in the bottom right hand corner of all my videos. It is probably user error that I just need to figure out. Other than that, it works well and as promised.

Really solid device, it's simple to hook up and get working after 2 steps. I'll share those first:
1- You need to download the driver, not just the software to get this running properly.
2- You must disable HDCP on your console which might disable some functions.
So, to start this is not a self contained device, you need a PC to use this.
The lag-free they claim is MOSTLY accurate, when playing through their software it seems to play super well. There is latency but it's not super big. I'd say if you've played a SNES Classic or whatever you're used to worse. It's not gonna stop you from performing well in fast platformers or whatever, if you're a picky fighting game fan? Maybe. I thought it was more than acceptable.
There is an HDMI out which you can probably eliminate that latency completely. I never tested it because I don't want to swap that around on my monitor.
One of the biggest uses I've been getting out of this is that I can sit there on my PC & play games with friends on discord without having to use Nintendo's awful communication system or spamming friends with handheld speakers.
If you do use the HDMI out, you can probably ignore the system requirements to an extent. They seem very inflated. Insisting not to use a mobile CPU for capture/streaming. My laptop has (I believe) a i5-8250U CPU, meaning it's mobile/low-power CPU and it worked fine.
Other users report using it fine with some i3 systems using HDMI out- when using OBS studio and NOT, elgato's capture software. Just keep in mind you will get much more latency with OBS so that's why I'm saying the HDMI out would help you here.

A really good product for recording and capturing purposes, as you can now do all sorts of post production to sync things up and make your gameplay unique. But when used for live streaming, just make sure you are also investing in other good products like a capable computer, etc. Familiarize yourself with any software you are using for live streaming (elgato brand or not) to make sure everything is synced up properly. Because yes it is plug and play, but you also need to be realistic and take the time to fine tune your setup. Especially when it comes to audio!

I wanted to get into streaming and decided to go with this capture card. The card itself is very easy to set up, with just needing the hdmi cables that come with it and your console. The software setup was pretty easy as well as it basically installed as you plugged it in. I use streamlabs instead and that was the harder part to setup than any of this was but when I got it working, it's great.

Great product for recording console gameplay. I use this to capture in 1080p @ 60fps. Despite knocking off one star for the cons listed below, this is still probably the best device on the market for its intended purpose.
Pros:
- Super easy to set up, record, and stream
- Fantastic capture quality
- Instant gameview with USB 3.0 is a very helpful feature
- Automatic export to MP4 if you'd rather use a program like Adobe After Effects or Premiere to edit video
Cons:
- If you don't have a desktop gaming setup (i.e. you game from your couch), you will have to keep connecting and disconnecting the device when you want to use it so there aren't wires all over the place all the time
- If you also use your XBox as a media streaming device (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), you have to keep toggling the HDCP on/off and connecting/disconnecting when you want to use the device
- Streaming options, while powerful, are not as user-friendly as OBS (one thing I don't like is you have to manually set the streaming upload speed) and still lack some functionality
