It works at it should. I’m just happy I’m able to stream my Nintendo Switch 2 with my friends on discord and twitch. It does work easily with OBS and Streamlabs. With Streamlabs I did have an audio issue but I ended up having it fixed within a few minutes. It works with pretty much any console you have. The lag is not bad doesn’t really have a delay but it does at times. But for those price who can beat that. Also the program that you download to record your gameplay works great 120fps and 4k recording.

Worked on my ps5 pretty well, and no input lag! The only thing is that the colors are a little different than on console but nothing that bothers me, great little card for a decent price. Remember to disable the HDCP setting in system before using this to stream as well :)

I'm thoroughly impressed with this compact capture device from Elgato and its capabilities. Its sleek, minimalist design makes it ideal for travel, and the white oval shape gives it a modern, well crafted look. Setting it up was very simple, just three cables: a USB-C and HDMI in/out. However, in the box it only includes a USB-C to USB-A cable, HDMI cables are not provided. This device is compatible with PC, Mac, PS5, and Xbox. To capture gameplay or video, you’ll need a PC (Windows or Mac), or an iPad along with compatible software, this device doesn’t function independently. For a typical setup based on the quick start guide, you connect your gaming console to the HDMI input, the USB-C to the laptop, and your monitor to the HDMI output. If you actually do it that way you will have to have your laptop screen open. What I did was to leave the monitor connected to the laptop directly to be able to use the monitor for both. The downside of that is that you have to view the game on the capture software. For a more portable setup, you can connect a console directly to an iPad using a USB-C to USB-C cable. A major advantage is that it’s not restricted to proprietary software. It works pretty much with any recording software that recognizes it. I’ve used it with Elgato’s 4K Capture Utility and Camo Studio, and it’s fully compatible with OBS and similar programs. The device captures video at up to 1080p at 60Hz, while passthrough supports up to 4K at 60Hz. So, if you're a content creator aiming for higher resolution recording, note that capture is limited to 1080p. Still, the passthrough lets you view content at 4K on compatible displays. What truly stands out is how well this tiny device handles high-quality video and audio streams without any noticeable lag or delay. Overall this Elgato game capture device impresses with its sleek, travel friendly design, simple three-cable setup, and broad compatibility with PCs, Macs, gaming consoles, and iPads. While it only records at 1080p/60Hz, it supports 4K passthrough and works seamlessly with popular software like OBS and Elgato’s 4K Capture Utility and others. It delivers smooth, lag-free performance and isn’t tied to proprietary software, making it a versatile tool for streamers and content creators on the go. Just note: you’ll need to provide your own HDMI cables. In the box you get the Game capture device, and USB-C to USB-A cable and quickstart guide.

Elgato has been around a while and has several products for recording video and audio from different types of devices. The Neo is a compact, easy to setup device that can capture gameplay from your devices at 60 frames per second in 1080p HD. The Neo is small, compact, and fits in the palm of your hand. It comes with a USB C cable to connect to a computer but does not come with additional HDMI cables you'll need to use it. To start using it, you will need two HDMI cables. I found the Neo was very easy to setup and was pretty straightforward even for those that are new to recording using capture cards. You simply connect the HDMI cable from the device you'd like to record from to the IN HDMI port on the NEO, connect the HDMI cable from the OUT HDMI port on the Neo to a TV or monitor, and connect the included USB C cable to the laptop you'd like to record the video and audio to. My Windows computer automatically recognized it and I did not need to install any additional software or drivers to start using it with the recording software I use, OBS. I was able to quickly add the Neo as an input source in OBS and found the video and audio from my device to be clean and clear. In my case, I was able to record gameplay from my Nintendo Switch 2 while it was connected to the docking station and it worked flawlessly. Gameplay recorded at 60fps and I did not find it stuttering while recording. The Neo does have its own app called "4K Capture Utility” that can be used to record gameplay and is free to use. One issue I found (not an issue really but a requirement by the software) was that it would not let me record unless I updated to the latest available video card driver. After updating it, I was able to record gameplay and only encountered issues when I would leave the software open and the device I was recording from would go idle or to sleep (ipad screen turning off, Nintendo Switch 2 idling). While I did find the Capture Utility easy to use, I still preferred OBS due to familiarity with it and the many options it has for adding different sources and streaming from it. My biggest gripe about the Neo is that while it supports 4k 60fps video passthrough, it only allows for 1080p 60fps for recording. It would've been nice for it to include 4k recording and would've made up for my second complaint. It would've also been nice to see a monitor output on the Neo to connect headphones and listen to audio directly from it. This is what is usually included on audio interfaces and video switchers and I think it would take it a step above competition. Overall, the Neo is a great way for anyone that would like to get into streaming or recording gameplay from consoles and mobile devices. It is very simple and easy to setup, and it's size makes it convenient to be able to take it anywhere.

I've had the Corsair Elgato Game Capture Neo for just over a week now, and it's been a godsend. I've been racking my brain for a year and a half about what a I could use casually to livestream console gameplay and selfie footage without having to jump through hoops and this came in the mail. Perfect! It came in a small, super minimal boxwith just the essentials: a USB-C to USB-A cable, a small safety instructions pamphlet, and a printed QR code (blink and you'll miss it). As soon as you scan the code, and you're sent to a digital user guide that walks you through the steps of downloading the Game Capture app and getting everything set up between your console, the capture card, and your monitor. The device itself is compact but clean. It really helps that it also has 2 rubber strips at the bottom that prevents it from easily slinding on my desk. There’s a white LED on the front, and on the back, you’ve got HDMI IN, HDMI OUT, and a USB-C input. Simple, to the point and works. While I haven't been able to test out all of the features yet, there is a lot of potential in the 4K Capture Utility app. In the "Library" tab, captures are sorted automatically into smart folders like 4K videos, short clips, long captures, or small video s. You can also sort by game or tags and create your own folders for even more control over your media. Streaming with it was easier than I thought. I plugged the Elgato card into Streamlabs and streamed Red Dead Redemption 2 in 4K HDR. While the raw image wasn't 100% the same as what was being output to my monitor, it was very close — just needed some adjustment on the color temperature, saturation, and brightness. Storage-wise, it has a storage capacity of approximately 326GB of content. And under the preferences tab, you can control where your media is saved, set up screenshot folders, choose your encoder, tweak format and bitrate, and alter output resolution. I was operating it at 4K 60FPS and had no issues — that seems to be the sweet spot. For more demanding games like DOOM: The Dark Ages, I’d recommend capping the frame rate at 60FPS while streaming, especially if your system doesn’t have a high-end graphics card. One important note: don’t use this through a USB hub. You’ll get the best (and most stable) performance by plugging it directly into your device’s USB 3.0 or higher port. All in all, having something this compact, simple, and reliable makes livestreaming so much more accessible — especially for individuals who aren't interested in rigging up an entire setup. 5/5

The Elgato Game Capture Neo is truly a Plug-and-Play device for real-time streaming and recording with any device that is able to output via HDMI. It took me literally two minutes to connect it all up; software setup to capture just took another couple of minutes. I was just so shocked and pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get everything together. The Game Capture Neo has 3 ports (1 HDMI-IN, 1 HDMI-OUT, 1 USB-C). Configuration-wise, you can get by with just HDMI-IN and USB-C and have your PC monitor act as both your display and recording device. For most of us, we’ll choose to add HDMI-OUT to complete our existing setup, using our existing TVs for normal gaming. With the Game Capture Neo in-line with your setup, you will now have the capability to stream/record on a moment's notice. Software setup can vary from person to person, depending on your choice of streaming apps. I’ve been used to OBS Studio as my regular streaming/recording software while I play PC games. But I’ve now extended that capability to my gaming consoles. I simply added a Video Capture Device as a source, and OB Studio immediately recognized my Elgato Game Capture Neo. It was super easy! So that being said, I wanted to go over some things I encountered and would be helpful for others who are looking to potentially purchase this as a capture device: It is extremely easy to set up; there is no separate power source. Truly Plug-N-Play. The device is very small….smaller than a PS5 controller. Recording output is 1080p60Hz. HDMI-IN and HDMI-OUT support 4K60Hz HDR, so those looking for higher refresh rates will lose that if using this. During recording, I noticed a slight latency between my TV and what my PC received in OBS Studio (PC was behind); if using your PC as your main monitor, you may feel this latency during games that require fast twitch muscles. Setting up my 4K consoles, I had trouble keeping a consistent 4K feed. I had to lower the rez to 2K to keep it steady. I wonder if I had a bad cable or if I need to reduce the refresh rate on the console(s). I figured it would be handled automatically by the console… No, you can’t record TV shows/movies (because…HDCP) Honestly, aside from the 4K hiccups, I really, really appreciate having this device as part of my setup. It has now found a permanent place here and it has given me the ability to reach out to my external consoles as a means of streaming/recording. At its price point, I give it an above-average edge in a recommendation.

I've used some capture cards in my time, but this has got to be the easiest to use capture card. It's literally plug and play, and using the software to click record or not record, and that's it! Done! The unit itself is small, lightweight, has clearly labeled USB-C to the host computer, a display in , then a display out. I've had issues with capture cards in the past, but there is little to no latency. I think one of the biggest issues fast paced/twitch gamers is the latency. If there's a delay it just makes everything very difficult to work with... you can't play as well in your games (especially fighting games), your editing with offsets with audio or even glitchy audio. This passthrough felt very clean and instantaneous. If there's any latency, it was completely imperceptible. Other features I liked were the accurate color reproduction. I've had issues in the past with off-red or off-green when going through a capture card, so this was nice. I tested this with several equipment, and it was nice to see that on the Mac it immediately recognized the capture card and selected the appropriate color profile. Very nice, love it. I wish there was some flexibility with the aspect ratio. I understand it comes advertised as 4k60, so the standard 3840 x 2160 16:9 ratio. Just for fun I hooked it up to my G9 which is 32:9 just to see what happens. You can see the listed ratio's that was available, stretched the image out a little bit on the output. The good news is when you export the captured video, it's not stretched and is in the 16:9 ratio. Just something to keep in mind as it may effect your final production. Not sure if this can be a feature via firmware in the feature, but just something to keep in mind. Finally the 60hz of course is standard. Of course we play with the idea of 120hz, 144hz, 165hz , 240hz etc. for the future. It still comes out smooth enough, but just keep that in mind as again may affect your final production. Overall, easy to use, color profile/accuracy, no latency. Very solid product and would recommend to everyone interested in starting the capture/stream/content creating game.

    1080p60 recording, 4K60 passthrough

It’s Elgato, what else do you need to know? I feel like Elgato is the name that you mention to any gamer/streamer and they already know what it is. You usually don’t have to explain that it is a video capture device to them. However, that is its sole purpose, to capture video and audio from the HDMI connection over USB and pass it through to the device you wanted to watch it on anyways. Now, the difference is what version you are going for. Depending on what you are capturing it for, what you are watching it on and what your device is capable of is the total decision. The Neo will ONLY capture in 1080p 60/30 or 720p 60/30, however it will allow passthrough up 4K at 60. It can do 1440p 60, 1080p 120/60 and 720p 120/60. So, for example, if you are on an Xbox Series X connected to a 4K TV or monitor that you want the 120Hz refresh on, this is NOT for you. However, if you are fine with the 60hz refresh, even at 1440p, then it will work fine for you. You can do the 1080p or 720p with the 120 and still capture it at 60. All you need is a computer that meets the minimum specs, a USB-A 3.0 or higher port and capture software. I personally use OBS and didn’t have to install anything extra for it to become usable for me. If you want, Elgato also has its own capture software. For streaming, 1080p60 is usually the most you can do anyways. If you want to record the full 4K footage, you are going to have to find a different version. Now, the majority of users, you’re probably not trying to push 4K at 120, so all other occasions, this will work for taking video from your console or other device that outputs with HDMI, to a computer over USB perfectly. Overall, so long as you are not “extreme” gaming or trying to record in 4K, this is perfect. It works great, is simple and doesn't need any special software for the most common recording/streaming PC app out there to recognize it. I just wish it also came with an extra HDMI cable too.

El Gato screen recording made easy

The El Gato series game/screen recording device has come a long way with development in creating a simple to use plug-n-play design in use today. The unit comes with the system interface cord, the unit itself, and does not include any HDMI cables at all. Not having the additional HDMI cable included does not really place you in a position to meet the full “Plug-n-Play” design as not everyone will have an extra cord set aside. You would think for the price, it would have the cable in the box. Getting past this note, the latest design continues to follow its sleek and modern look, you have three connections on the back from HDMI In/Out, and USB-C. The included USB-A to USB-C cable does not feature the latest industry standard, but means it’s more compatible across various devices. IF you plan to use this with an apple device, be prepared to purchase an additional interface cable to support your Apple device. May need additional software/apps. There is the primary El Gato app which works excellent as it is tuned for screen recording, but there are additional apps that perform similarly and work in a same manner for screen recording. One thing to keep in mind to receive the best performance from this device and anything similar, DO NOT PLUG THIS UNIT IN THROGH A USB HUB.

I got my Game Capture Neo weeks ago and honestly it is not as easy to get off the ground as you think. It does capture in 1080p and allows you to control how and where to share my videos. Whereas the consoles only allow you to capture on the console and share through an app if it allows you to. For instance, my PS5 won’t allow me to stream when playing Minecraft. My friends have this odd pleasure of watching me get defeated on Minecraft by the Warden. I can never stream on my PS5 and have to call them via alternative video streaming ways. Now, they can watch and get theirs laughs. The quality of the Neo is alright, it feels cheaply made and as though one small drop on the floor that it will break. Quick note, it only comes with the Neo and you will not get the HDMI cables but you do get the usb-a to usb-c wire. Lastly, you’ll need the software for it to work. It does not automatically record with a button so be prepared to put in a little work. It is not plug and for that I could not give it a 5 star. Otherwise it gets the job done.

I really can't complain much about this capture card. It's very easy to set up works really great with my Playstation 5. Inside the box, I did find myself a little disappointed. As on usual Elgato devices in the past, you'd be supplied an HDMI cord. But it seems they l that they decided to skimp it on that simple luxury that would've, for the most part given this a possible. Again. As it stands. There's only the sleek looking capture card and a USB-C to A cord ( roughly around 3 feet long. It is very nice it is threaded. This helps to prevent fraying and makes for a longer lasting cord. However, it's white and that's gonna start looking dingy really quickly. Setting up Playstation 5 was relatively simple, though,I believe it's easier to connect my XBOX SX. However my plan is to use or the Playstation 5 the majority of the time. The capture card, itself, has two HDMI ports to be able properly link your system of choice. (I am considering connecting my Switch OLED to just stream some older and more nostalgic games. It really shouldn't be difficult. But really. Outside of the lack of an HDMI and the USB being optic white. I believe to be a very well made and ready to use capture card. Elgato.. give us an HDMI cord in the future.
