Entry level but no complaints
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As most others have confirmed in their reviews, this is a nice, very simple to set-up and use out of the box, minimal frills projector. There’s plenty of inputs available (multiple HDMI, a VGA, and USB) and the remote works flawlessly as you flow from one setting to another, adjusting volume, powering on/off, etc. To compare against, I have a competitor projector that cost several hundred dollars and provides WVGA picture. When comparing it’s apples and oranges, truly. You’d expect that on a $450 projector that has a lot more to offer in essentially every way. However, this Ematic projector does just enough to provide a nice experience for a variety of spaces and occasions - backyard, garage, taking on a trip, setting up in a kids room. Out of the box I linked my iPad to the projector via HDMI and had it up and running in about two minutes. I tried out the projector’s volume, watching a couple children’s videos on YouTube (my three year old daughter was with me during the set up). She was smitten and laying on the floor giggling and enjoying Peppa. I then switched over to Prime Video and attached my Edifier powered bookshelf speakers via aux cord. If you’re willing to attach a separate set of speakers to the projector and fiddle with the focus, this projector puts out a decent picture and is a fine user experience. The few quick videos I checked out on Prime are in 1080 and this projector handled the videos perfectly fine. I didn’t get the sense anything was 480 and grainy. Again, this was through my iPad being attached to the projector, beaming against my basement wall for YouTube and Amazon Prime videos. My one major annoyance on the projector is that it runs loud. When you turn it on, it starts cranking along and the sound of the projector is tough to ignore. Something else to think about - if you have grand plans to ceiling mount a projector against a large projector screen, I would invest a few more bucks and get something nicer. Other than that, it’s a light weight, affordable, entry level projector that will make a lot of people happy.

I was unable to get it to play out of the projector itself; I tried connecting my soundbar thinking maybe the speaker was broken, still nothing. Unable to return.
