The Ematic - EPJ590WH LCD Projector is a good basic home projector. The projector has a good compact design and seems to be constructed well. Connectivity is good as you can play content through VGA, HDMI USB 2.0 or Micro SD card. The projector starts up quickly and switching to the HDMI port was easily accomplished with the remote. I was able to connect my fire stick to the HDMI port without any issues and the image displayed right away without issue. The projector does struggle to display sharp images if you try to max out to the 150' display size but that can be expected with a resolution of 800 x 480. Image quality is decent if you project at the 75' to 100' display size however text may not be too sharp. The speakers are decent but you may want to hook up a small external speaker if you are in a larger room or in the backyard doing a movie night with the kids. Overall this is no means meant to replace a home theater projector but I think its a good portable option if you want to throw on a movie for the kids

The ematic projector is a good choice for people like me. My plans for this projector were for a simple, inexpensive unit to use outside the camper or in the backyard to show movies for my kids and their friends. The Ematic fits my needs perfectly. If I were wanting a high end unit for a home theater projector, there are certainly better choices, at a much higher price. The Emaic is around 43 ansi lumens which for night time viewing is plenty bright. The contrast ratio is 300:1, which is on the lower end, but again, I'm not expecting the very best out of a $100 projector. I am using this projector with a portable hard drive that contains MP4 of many of my kids favorite movies. I plug the hard drive into the USB port on the Ematic and the camera handles the rest. It has built in software to select and play the movies - no other equipment needed. It also has HDMI and vga connections to use blueray players and other devices as well. I am pleased with the ematic projector for what I have it for and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun projector to show movies on a larger wall or screen. Just don't expect it to perform like a $2000 camera and you will be happy with this one.

    Fun, Simple and Basic Projector

So let's get this out of the way. This is a sub $100 projector, so please keep your expectations on par with the price you're paying here. With that said, this projector works great. The image is vibrant, it gets bright enough that you won't have to completely darken a room to be able to watch it and the connectivity and operation of it are dead simple. Overall this would be a decent projector for a fun kids night outside or to play a movie on for an audience that could care less about the resolution or video fidelity of the image. The package comes with the projector, power cord and remote. Unfortunately it doesn't come with batteries for the remote, which is weird since that would cost almost nothing to include and certainly takes away from the end user experience when trying to set this up. Pros: Dead simple hookup and operation Lightweight and portable Affordable Bright enough for most viewing situations Cons: Image quality is lacking with it's sad 800x480 resolution Feels like a sub $100 projector Remote is flimsy Doesn't come with batteries for the remote

I belong to a conference that does weekend retreats and we are forever having to rent projectors mainly because no one wants to lug one from place to place. The Ematic - EPJ590WH LCD Projector is small and lightweight so it is easy to pack up and take with me. It will mostly be used for PowerPoint and video presentations and I found that it was adequate for that need. The room did need to be darkened to get a clear enough picture but it didn't have to be completely dark. The picture does get fuzzier the larger it gets but for our purposes, the picture was clear and everyone was easily able to read the bullet-points. We did use it one night for a movie night for those participants who were interested and it worked well on the white wall of the room we were in. The picture was particularly clear as the room was completely dark given the time of night. It's a great price, not only for a family but other entities as well, such as non-profits and churches. While it may be intended for home use, other groups may wish to consider this cost-saving measure.

Upon receiving this projector, I unboxed it, plugged it in, inserted a streaming player into one of the HDMI slots, and aimed it at a blank wall in my kids’ room. Voila! Instant movie theater! It is such fun for my kids, really everyone and anyone. I projected a huge screen size—it can go up to 150 inches in size. We watched movies in pretty much crystal clear clarity. Any videos we watched that looked a bit fuzzy was not the fault of the projector (it says it has 1080p) but whatever video we were watching wasn’t available in HD, like clips on YouTube versus movies on Netflix. It was extremely easy to set up and start using right away. You can buy a large screen to project onto, but I just cleared a wall in a bedroom to have the biggest screen size possible. The projector has a constantly running fan which may initially sound loud at first but it just fades into the background after awhile and you don’t even think about it anymore. The sound isn’t the best, but I don’t expect it to be coming from the small projector, so I wasn’t going to be picky about it. The volume can be turned up pretty high, so that helps a lot. It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane for me because it took me back to my childhood days of watching slideshows of family vacations, making shadow puppets in front the projector, the slight plasticky/mechanical scent in the air, watching the dust motes dance in the shaft of light beaming out onto the screen. I half expected to start to hear clicks of the remote advancing the slides one by one. Bottom line, for the price, it’s a great projector. Just don’t expect the super quality of the higher-end ones. But it does the job, and it does it well. I’m already thinking it would make a great, fun gift for the holidays.

    Great projector for small office!

Our old projector was just that, old! It was clunky and someone dropped it which caused a loose piece to cover part of the light and create a dark shadow over a big corner of the projection. I found this online the night before a 2 hour office wide webinar. It was very easy to set up the next morning and worked well for the webinar. The only issue that I have is that the projection is slightly crooked and one end appears taller than the other, but nothing major. I didn't have a ton of time to play with it before the presentation, so it may just be user error and something that can be corrected. Overall, it's a great little projector for our office to use during meetings and orientations and helped us out in a pinch without costing a ton of money.

    A solid starter projector

The Ematic LCD Projector was attractive due to the low retail price. It was enticing due to the plentiful input options (HDMI, VGA, A/V, Micro SD) and having a headphone jack output that I attached my speaker system to. The picture quality is good, but don't expect it to replicate the clarity of an LCD or HD TV. It's good for watching TV, sports, and playing video games if you're not a stickler for real-life detail in the image quality. Additionally, it reduces eye strain, which is a bonus for me. For the price, it does enough of a good job for your basic needs.

Picture is great pulled up close to the wall, sound only comes from the rear so you must be sitting close to it if you are hard of hearing. This is fixable with getting a speaker and audio cord separately. Happy with Purchase for Black Friday Price only 59.99 with tax $65.57. So the product is what i wanted with the extras that I will also purchase through Best Buy.

    Great projector for movie/marathon night

This projector is probably the best NEW projector in its price range. I bought it in place of a TV for my small bedroom for "Anime night" for me and my girlfriend and it does the job well. It outputs in 480p, but accepts 1080p input. This is a great projector for family movie nights, when guests are over, or even for retro gaming. Subtitles are easy to read. Pick up a streaming stick for easy media playback. Overall i would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a projector and doesnt want to spend 300+ dollars on one.
