The charge doesn’t last very long. I like It, for about 1 1/2 hours. For $100+, I’d expect 3 hours or longer off the charger.

I love this mug but after one month of using it, the bottom of the mug started to have a brown scratched up stain. After reading the reviews, I was so paranoid and never used a coffee stirer in it, I washed it by hand without a sponge or anything abrasive, and "babied" it like a delicate flower. Unfortunately, the stain appeared within a month of using it daily. Also, the cup is fairly small so if you drink lattes in the morning, I'd recommend going for a larger size. Overall, I really like the mug, just wish I picked a different color.
Hi Gina, thanks for leaving a review here! We're glad to hear you've been enjoying your Ember Mug so far and appreciate the feedback in regard to the coating - we'd be happy to share this with our team! For best care and maintenance, we would recommend using a wooden spoon, or plastic/silicone utensils, if stirring and continuing to hand-wash using mild dish soap and a soft cloth. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected]!

The cup tends to work OK but it stains to easily and it’s hard to keep clean. I regret not getting the larger size cup.

This mug itself has been fantastic. A self-heating coffee cup, the future is here! The app and bluetooth connection can be a bit fiddly but when it works its a dream. After having this mug for under a year and a half having exclusively hand washed it, the inside of the mug is flaking off. Just a few months out of warranty and it's unusable in this state unless I would want to inevitably drink whatever material it's coated with. I've reached out to their support team and am waiting to hear back but in any case I would encourage researching the coating flaking issue online if you're considering anything from this line.

One of the spring loaded pins in the coaster has had it's spring fail, causing it stay recessed & not make contact with the mug. Really disappointed with the timing of this failure, 3 days after warranty expiration. $40 for a new coaster.
My wife does love it for her tea.

What a huge disappointment!! I like my coffee hot so I’ve been very careful with making sure the base is charged. What I didn’t plan for is the interior paint/coating to be chipping off ~ I’ve never put it in a dishwasher or used anything metal for stirring my coffee so I’m perplexed as to why this is happening.
Tried customer service at Ember multiple times..no connection ~ no response!! For the cost of this mug there should be better customer service!
What a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!

not a fan. $100 for a mug that is not dishwashable, cost 20x more than a $5 one, and make it feel like you basically only have 1 mug you want to use... just so that your coffee stays warm for like 30 minutes longer.
you can even get a heated coaster for like 1/4th of the price on amazon, and it would work with ANY mug instead of only one, which you have to repeatedly handwash.

I love the mug and it’s the perfect solution for me. It’s just the charging coaster that keeps failing since the two little pins get stuck. Ember has replaced it twice but I worry what will happen in 2 months when the mug is out of warranty.

I received this mug as a gift, and it's perfect. I paired it with the app, which can be a little glitchy, but not a complete waste. You can control how hot you want you coffee, up to 145 degrees. Also, if you share your mug, or have the same color, you can customize the LED color to identify who the cups belongs to. You cannot microwave your cup, but honestly, I have poured in cold creamer and waited for my coffee to get hot just to experiment. It's neat. And if you pair the mug with the app, you can choose which temperature to maintain your coffee.
I charge the cup after using it, and will simply take the cup with me to my home office for a few hours. Battery life away from the base depends on the maintained temperature.
Overall, I love this mug, because it's not your typical mug plate where you have to keep the mug on the base. You can also wash the mug, but not keep it submerged in water, I recommended immediately washing it, or if you don't have time, fill with regular water to soak, turn off the base, and clean it later. Again, just don't submerge it or it will ruin your cup. All this is in the nifty packaging it comes with!
I would recommend as a gift, buying it for yourself or to impress your guests.

Ember vs. Yetti Mug

I had been wanting one of these mugs for quite some time. Couldn’t justify the full price but finally bought one on sale. I’m definitely a bleeding edge technology person so the technology was very appealing. Ideally, technology should make your life better and easier, not more complicated. Unfortunately, the Ember mug had a few short comings that ultimately made me return it. I felt the quality was certainly there, but the functionality wasn’t better enough to replace my yeti mug. Here are a few things that the Ember fell short fir me. Hopefully the makers will consider these in their next generation of mugs. 1. The mug was too small. Most of the people interested in this mug will be heavy coffee drinkers and will probably drink more than the small amount this cup offers. By the time you drink the coffee out of the small size, you really don’t even need to keep it heated. No doubt, although the Ember would beat out a readitional non insulated mug, however the yeti cups (with closable lid) keeps beverages hot just as long as the Ember and better. I say better because with a heating element in place, as you get diwn to the final quarter cup, the coffee becomes visibly “cooked” and tarnishes the taste. Especially eith creamer. That doesn’t happen on a yetti. 2. The battery doesnt last long enough. Since the embrr is small, most people are going to have two maybe even 3 cups of coffee with it. The battery last for the first cup, but runs out of juice the second cup or third cup. I understand you can put it on the charging stand, but that’s not always possible when you have a lot of meetings to go to or stopping into other peoples offices to chat . Again, the Yetti (with a lid) wins out. 3. convenience - the embers app is very well-made, but it’s an extra step and after a while gets tiresome to go to. Not a big deal as you dont have to use it after its set up. 4. Longevity -the Ember is probably good for 2 to 3 years. After that the battery should be toast or brgin to diminish. I don’t think there’s a way to replace the battery. I’ve had yeti cups for 10 years and still going strong. 5. Simplicity. The ember is not dishwasher safe. The yetis definitely win out here. 6. Cost - Even on sale, I can buy two or three yetis for the price of one Ember. 7. The Amber doesn’t come with a lid. The yetis do. 8. The yetis work far better in a car. Sumnary: even though I’m both a coffee snob and bleeding edge technology enthusiast, the Ember ultimately became an inconvenience to use compared to a simple yeti cup. Even if the prices were the same between the two, I think I would go with the yeti just for the ultimate convenience and similar performance of keeping beverages hot. Just my two cents.

As someone who takes their hot beverages seriously, I was intrigued by the concept of the Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug. After using it for a few weeks, I am thoroughly impressed and excited to share my experience.
Sleek Design and Build Quality:
Firstly, the design of the Ember Mug is sleek and modern, fitting perfectly in any kitchen or office setting. The build quality is top-notch, with a durable ceramic coating that feels premium to the touch.
Revolutionary Temperature Control:
The standout feature, undoubtedly, is the temperature control. The ability to set my preferred drinking temperature through the Ember app is a game-changer. No more burnt tongue or lukewarm coffee halfway through my work. The mug keeps my drink consistently at the perfect temperature.
Battery Life and Charging Coaster:
The battery life is impressive. It lasts long enough for me to enjoy my drink without rushing. The charging coaster is a smart addition, ensuring the mug is always ready for use without any hassle.
Enhanced Drinking Experience:
The Ember Mug has transformed my morning coffee ritual. Each sip is perfect, from the first to the last. It's not just a mug; it's an experience enhancer for anyone who appreciates the finer details in life.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug is a must-have for anyone who values the perfect sip of their hot beverage. It's an investment in your daily comfort and enjoyment, and I can't recommend it enough.

Price is a little steep but if u get it on sale its a great buy. Keeps the drink warm but i mostly have to use it on the charger unless i give it a full charge the night before. It gets a little annoying when u get the coffee film on the drink while keeping it warm but finding the right temp setting could help this

I love my Ember mug. Is it expensive? Absolutely. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not.
The app for iPhone is hit or miss, but allows you to set the colored light on the bottom as well as temperature preference. It tops out at 145 degrees which is plenty hot for me, I actually dialed it back to 140.
This mug has mediocre battery life which is offset by a few factors, specifically sleep mode and the charging coaster. First, the mug can detect liquid inside and will not heat if it is empty, saving battery and allowing you a few cups full before having to charge up. For charging, the included coaster charges up quickly and allows you to keep your drink warm effectively indefinitely, which would be ideal for office workers and other more stationary tasks. It charges up quickly, I only wish the coaster connected via USB instead of a proprietary connection.
The mug is IP67 and very easy to clean by hand and warm water. Just be sure to fully dry off the rings on the bottom before charging.

We already owned two Ember Smart mugs that have seen their batteries deplete over the years. Total Tech had a good deal on these mugs. I think these are a steal at $50, that deal ends soon.
The cup works well, keeps your drink hot, and the app is polished on both iOS and Android systems.

First, almost certainly your question, like mine was before I got my Ember, is can a mug really be worth the cost? Don't they make warming coasters for around $20 that will do the same thing? After using my Ember for 3 weeks is, without hesitation, yes it is worth the cost, and no, a mug warmer is nowhere near a replacement for what Ember can do.
I drink between 5 and 10 cups of tea a day, and I got used to the phenomenon that I could drink it when it was scalding hot or I could drink it lukewarm, but I had about a 60-second window of that perfect sip of tea. I'm very precise with my food and drink (for example, I time my tea steeping for exactly 1 minute and 20 seconds and exactly 6 mL of lemon juice per cup), so having a tea mug that can get my tea to exactly the perfect temperature for every single sip, no matter how long it takes me to drink my tea (137 F, in case you're interested)? That sounded too good to be true.
And yet, it is that perfect. It took a little tweaking at the beginning using the Ember app (Ember actually encourages you to tweak it to perfection; they give suggested temperatures, but they want you to find your exact sweet spot), but then it is zero maintenance after that. Whenever I pour tea into the mug, it can sense that there is fluid in the cup, and it begins the processes of allowing the tea to cool down to the right temperature and then maintaining that temperature until the very last drop. And, I really mean it, the very last drop (as a small note, the last drop is slightly hotter than the rest of the drink because it's been sitting on the heating element longest, but frankly, that's a joy to get a small burst in temperature rather than having the last sip be tepid as I've been used to). I even get an alert on my phone and Apple Watch letting me know that the mug has reached the correct temperature so I can start drinking it at exactly the temperature I wanted.
Also, the mug works, for a while, off of the coaster. I keep my coaster on my desk, but I can get about 2 cups of tea between charges (depending on how fast I drink it), so I can have that same temperature expectations when I'm away from my desk. I wish the battery was a bit more substantial (2 hours would have been somewhat ideal) or if there was perhaps a portable charging station that holds a longer charge. Or, I wish an additional coaster was a bit less costly so I could have them at multiple points in my house for more convenient charging. But, now we're just getting into wishlist territory, and none of those are a reasons to knock the product down in rating.
There is one design flaw that I think is somewhat problematic, and based on some other reviews, I'm a bit concerned that it will end up shortening the life of the charging coaster. The mug itself is water resistant, which is helpful for a product whose sole purpose is to contain water (it is not water resistant enough to let it run through the dishwasher, but hand washing a mug that I use many times a day is not a problem). However, if water gets on the sides of the mug, it naturally goes down the side, down the curve of the bottom, and into the seam at the rubber ring at the bottom. This is fine, except the charging coaster is not supposed to get any moisture in it at all. I usually wipe the bottom of the mug with a paper towel, touch it to feel if there is any moisture, and still about 30% of the time, when I pick the mug up from the coaster, there is a ring of moisture on the coaster itself. Because using the coaster while drinking from the mug is how you can use it somewhat indefinitely, it's not an option to just leave the mug off the coaster. I have read reviews stating that the charging nodes on the coaster get corroded because of the moisture, and I can see how even the most careful user could run into this issue.
Other things I don't love about it: the handle is a bit uncomfortable because it has somewhat sharp edges, and the lip of the mug takes some getting used to for the same reason. They kept the mug walls very thin (it is actually stainless steel coated with ceramic, presumably to both control the temperature through the entire mug more efficiently and to keep the weight of the mug down as it's somewhat heavy because of the electronics stored in the bottom), which is fine, except it lends to sharper edges. I got used to both of those things pretty quickly and haven't thought about it for the last couple of weeks. However, as far as design goes, it's a very attractive mug, and remarkably, the sides are always cool to the touch, even immediately after pouring boiling water into it, so it is clearly an exceptionally designed mug.
I could go on and on about it, but the bottom line is that this is, no doubt, a luxury. It feels really hard to justify paying $100+ for a mug. And yet, it has completely transformed how I drink my tea, and every bit for the better. And, aside from a one important design flaw, rarely do I see such perfect implementation of technology. Well done, Ember.

Im always skeptical on things like this but i got it with my totaltech picks cause it was the best deal. After I linked it to the app I made some hot chicken broth in the mug. Right after my first sip, doggo wanted to go for a walk. Come back from the walk about 20 min later and it was still just as hot. I actually wish it could be just a little hotter than 145, maybe 150, but its still hot. Highly recommend
