    Wish it was better designed

My first hot air fryer was a Emerald brand from Best Buy. It works great and made me a believer in hot air fryers. I bought this Emerald because I wanted a larger capacity. This unit also attracted me because of the stir feature and the window. The interior is indeed huge. First, the stir paddle is poorly designed as It has too steep of a ramp and just pushed the french fries around in a pile (no matter how many or few i tried) instead of turning them over to brown all sides. This leaves me with the same problem most hot air fryers have, needing to open the bin and manually turn or toss the food to brown or crisp the food all the way around. Second, the window is only somewhat useful. From the picture of the unit, I was mistaken that it maybe had an interior light. The only source of light is from the red/orange glow of the heating element. The color makes the food seem to brown but when you open the cover, the food is still pale. Also, the element goes on and off so you cannot always see what is going on inside the unit. I have another unit which is a vertical stacking hot air fryer which does have a regular light source and front window which makes for useful viewing. Today I was going to give the unit another try but, after only a few uses over a 10 day period, the unit is now dead. The digital display does not show any digits or any indication of life. Also, there are no beeps when plugging it in, opening the unit or placing the bin inside the unit. I was disappointed because I had great hopes for this unit. I liked the large interior, the digital display, and that the top opens and is easy to place food in the bin without needing extra counter space to place the bin when you pull it out to load or empty it. But mainly the poor design of the paddle. It may work for round food like tater tots but when cooking straight fries, it broke many, mushed some through the holes in the bottom pan, and as stated above, merely pushed them around in a pile which does not allow the hot air to get to all surfaces of all the fires. I thought it would tumble them and eliminate the need to take out and shake the bin to re-arrange the food.

Got this AirFryer on a whim because it was "deal of the day" heavily discounted. Gave it a chance, followed the instructions on it and tried some French Fries. I mean, that has to be your standard. They came out soggy and oily. Gave it a second chance, this time pre heating for longer, moving the basket, and same result. The wife decided to give a third chance with some "cauliflower wings" from the recipe book, and here is where we noticed that the airfryer only "fries" from one side, and leaves things soggy not crunchy. We took it back to the store, and then more problems! For some reason, the SKU and Product Code didnt match from the online db, to the box, to the product. Because my local BestBuy has the best employees ever (Ruel and Adam you guys rock), they took care of it. They were on the phone with their "The Bridge", then with ".Com", then "the bridge" again. All in all it was a full hour and a half, but they got it sorted out for me and was able to complete the return.

Veggies sucked, smiley face fries sucked, chicken kinda sucked. I did however use it like a convection oven and made a great pork chop. Why this is called a fryer is beyond me. I would not recommend one of these. Also my pork chop was not completed in the time the directions said I put it in for another 5 min so a total of 17 min to get the pink out. Could have done it on the grill just as healthy and tasted better in 9 min.

Nice unit except for the beep that it uses. It’s a high ding sound and that sound scares my little dog to death. Some cell phones have that same sound for messages or texts. Had no option but to give the air fryer to my grand daughter. Guess I will stick with my old unit. There needs to be a way to change the sound it makes.

I received this and tried it out. The stirrer that is used to flip over the food melted. I returned it immediately. When I returned it Best Buy was confused as to why it melted. Needless to say I never got a chance to try it out.

Came missing the stirring blade and waranty card. Picked this particular model for the auto stirring feature. Useless without the stirring blade.
