Excellent Sound At A Great Price

This speaker sounded really boxy to me...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have decided to upgrade most of my components in my HT and thought I would start w/ the center channel first. I spent some time in Magnolia listening to the different center channels. I liked the B&W, but can't afford the complete system. I did not like the Dev Techs. In the store, I liked the sound of the Energy. With the great reviews and now that the speaker is on sale, I bought it. At home, this speaker does not sound that great TO ME. You gotta remember, speakers are very subjective! To my ear, this speaker sounds very boxy. To my ear, the sound from the speaker is very focused with no sound stage. Not a terrible sounding speaker, but far from great. If you are on a budget(like me) and this one goes on sale, definitely try. At full price, I cannot recommend this speaker. Thanks to Best Buy's great return policy, this one is going back.
