I purchased this PC to replace an older model. So far it’s working well. It’s quiet and just what I needed.

My husband got a laptop and I got a desktop. I'm partial to having a desktop because it's easier to upgrade if I want to. We purchased for the future, as they say, and we made sure we had room to expand as things change. We had our old HP desktop and Microsoft Windows 7 for many years. We like to buy so that our product doesn't have to be thrown out in a year or two.

I wanted to buy this computer because it seemed to be on the high end as far as everything it came with. I'm a little old school, so I loaded my old files onto a CD. Well, when I went to try and load them on this new computer, it didn't read the CD? I would also like to add that the DVD/CD player itself was VERY flimsy ! It seemed very cheap and almost felt like it might fall apart. I tried putting a regular CD into the player and after about 3 or 4 tries, it did read the CD, but every time I tried it after that, it would not read the CD ?! I also initially could not hook up my HDMI monitor because where it actually said on the back of the tower "HDMI," it was not even connected to even work in that port ?! I took it back to the store, and one of the techs actually showed me where the real port was, but it was not labeled and neither were any of the other monitor ports ?! When the DVD/CD player didn't work, I took it back ! Almost $1,400 bucks and the DVD/CD player is totally flimsy and doesn't even work ?! Also for it supposedly being "super fast," I really didn't notice any difference between this tower and my older one ? Buyer beware !

I've owned a lot of computers over the last few decades and most were from HP. I've had this one up and running for a couple of weeks now and it is rock solid in every way so far. I already had an 8th gen. HP laptop that I got this spring, so I've already been spoiled with the capabilities of the 8th gen. machines. This machine is whisper quiet. In fact, if it weren't for the pilot light I wouldn't know it was on and I sit right next to it. Having 16 gigs of high end RAM is a joy. I'm not a competitive gamer but I do like to run multiple programs and having the extra horse power is a joy. The speed and efficiency of the 256 digital SSD drive for my operating system and critical files can't be beat. Having the much larger regular 2TB drive gives me all the room I need for large collections of pictures, music and other document files. The new subtle brushed aluminum look that HP is now using is especially appreciated. I'm older now and no longer need the fancy flashing neon lights of some of these desktops. I simply wanted a rock solid dependable computer and this checks off all the boxes. It wasn't loaded with too many junk programs and that was appreciated as well. HP is listening to users. My only minor gripe was the wonky keyboard that came with it. It worked but something about its keyboard layout just didn't match my typing style. Fortunately, I've got much nicer keyboards and mice. The optical drive sits upright, and as a result I'm actually laying the machine flat so it looks like an audio component. The side vent holes are now on top, which really helps in heat dissipation since heat rises. The fans are super quiet and efficient and no heat issues are detected at all. This is a great buy that I think many will like.

Two days after I received this computer, the mouse stopped working, then the keyboard. Geek squad remotely fixed problem and stated there were thousands of unnecessary files in system. He deleted them. Mouse worked for two more days and quit. Switched to HP brand mouse and it worked for two days then quit. Had to take computer in to be worked on. Promised 5 day turnaround. Still not fixed and best buy refuses to replace it. So I am without my new computer.

Dead quiet, extremely fast CPU. Can handle excessive multi tasking with total ease - lightning quick. Limited junk programs pre-installed. All around excellent CPU for most any application including gaming. Very satisfied.

    Worst computer ever bought.

Short background: Retired software engineer; been working on and with computers since 1970. Still active as we have a web based retirement business. I bought 2 of these in late December to replace old Dell XPS systems, went with HP as the reviews seemed good. I connect multiple USB 3 external drives for backup & extra storage (both HPs). This system does have a lot of ports. However, as soon as I connected half of the ports or more the mouse became extremely erratic and virtually unusable (both HPs). Second issue, Set up sharing on the 2 systems as our previous configuration. Could not get my HP to be seen on the network (wired). Called HP for support: Tech 1, explained issue, he said he wrote down all info & passed on to Tech 2. He asked me for details (which were supposedly carried in ticket info) and then said I would have to buy HP insurance to get to the level I needed. As I needed to get up & running for our business, I agreed (big mistake). On to Tech 3 (had to explain issue again before he gathered charge info.) Cost was $49 up front & had to initially agree to 1 year contract at $17 per month (could cancel though). On to Tech 4. Once again, had to explain in full the issue. His response: WE DON'T COVER THAT. Needless to say I was not happy. After hanging up I found the Win 10 Network Reset which fixed the problem for a day. I have had to use it multiple times since to get visibility back on the network. Note that my Surface Pro has NEVER had this issue. Given all of this, that is why the 2 HPs are being returned and a 1 star rating.

    Doesn't support 4k monitors

Don't get me wrong, I love HP; and being a computer geek for over 30 years, I am always telling people to buy HP. I have three different 4k monitors, and when the display goes into sleep mode the pc starts making noise as though a usb port is being removed. If I plug any other cheap monitors into the hdmi port, they all work fine. HP had me send it in for warranty and they replaced the motherboard and it's still doing the same thing. I know that it's their drivers for the video/audio on the motherboard and even trying to disable them, the pc re-enables it on its own. If you use a cheap monitor, don't worry.
