I have used this in tablet mode for data input without arm fatigue that I had with a heavier laptop. Adequate speed even when using in a Citrix environment

After a couple months of using this the motherboard gave out and about every 5 minutes the wifi and the sound would both go out. I sent it to HP for them to replace the motherboard and they ended up sending me a new computer (15.6 inch which is totally not what I wanted). I really liked this computer while I had it before it stopped working. I think I just got a lemon. It was very small and compact and great for a student. It was really light and it didn't hurt my back to carry it around.

I loved this laptop and all its features!!.. but the fan was always a bit loud and it would occasionally heat up. I figured this was due to me studying for tests at that time and having a lot of apps/tabs open constantly for that period. It eventually seemed to fix itself and I didn't bother to get it looked since it was no longer an issue. Then this problem began again and pooped out on me. My motherboard was going to need replaced along with some other components and my warranty had just ended 2 months prior soo I decided to just get a different laptop instead. This laptop is very user friendly but HP should develop better cooling systems for their laptops since this seems to be a common complaint.

Great Portable Laptop for casual use

I will start out this review by saying that this laptop is not going to be for everyone. However. It blew my expectations away because of its design. I will start this review off by talking about the design. It is not a cheap laptop so of course you would not expect it to be cheaply designed. However, most sub $1000 laptops are made of plastic and cheaper materials. I am a big fan of the way MacBook’s are designed because of their premium feel. That is exactly how this laptop felt when I pulled it out of the box. It has a very nice aluminum design that is both light and very premium feeling. It is a very thin laptop hence the ENVY name and can easily be carried around. The only fault I found with the aluminum is that it is a finger print magnet. Just after carrying it around for a little the entire body was covered in fingerprints. The screen is a beautiful screen. It is a 13 in touch screen which looks and functions amazingly. I love how it has very thin bezels it makes the laptop look that much better. Possibly my favorite part of the entire laptop is the keyboard. It can be tricky to pack a great keyboard into such a small package, but HP managed to do it with this computer. The keys have just the perfect amount of travel, they are also very quiet and make for nice typing. The keys are also nicely spaced, and it is very easy and comfortable to type on for long periods of time. The keyboard is also backlit, but it does not seem like you can adjust the brightness. This is not a big deal. The trackpad is on the better side of trackpads. It has very nice feedback and the size is decent considering the overall size of this computer. I would still prefer to use a mouse over most trackpads, but it will work perfectly when needed. The laptop has a convertible design that allows the screen to do a complete 360. The hinges felt very durable and turned into a nice tablet with the screen placed in the completed folded position. I also like that you can pro it up and that would allow you to draw or use the touch screen without worrying about the keyboard. As far as ports this laptop has a decent amount of ports for its size. It comes with two full size USB ports, 1 USB C port, a head phone jack and a micro SD card slot. It a nice that it includes both regular USB and USB C. The only difference I would have liked to see is a full size SD instead of micro SD. Possibly the biggest design flaw is the charger! Almost every new laptop now can charge off USB C and this laptop still has a proprietary charger. This is a huge let down because with USB C you can more universally charge the computer and use mobile power banks to charge it. In terms of performance and features this laptop has some decent specs. I personally like intel processors better than AMD but this processor definitely packs power. I would not go as far as to say this laptop would be good for gaming or anything highly graphic intensive. However, it can handle day to day business or light video or photo editing although it could start to slow up. The one downside to this model is only 128gb SSD. I would recommend getting one with a larger SSD if you plan to download a lot of software or store any type of data on the laptop. The laptop comes with Bang and Olufsen speakers which sound great. The only downside I found to the speakers is that they do not get very loud. Even after tweaking some settings and turning them to full volume they will not fill up a room. As small and portable this laptop is I do not think this will be a problem at all. One feature that I did not know this laptop had was facial recognition. It also has infrared sensors so that it can work in the dark. The only downside to this software was that it had a hard time recognizing me if I changed my appearance such as wearing a hat. The more I played with it the better it became, and it worked extremely fast. One large disappointment was the amount of HP bloatware that came installed on the computer. It is easy to uninstall it all but if it was all grouped into one app or two that would be much better then about 10 that it came with. As far as upgradability, this laptop is not easily if at all upgradable. I would recommend spec’ing it out before you buy it because not much is upgradable, and I was not even able to get inside of the laptop because it uses a special tool. Overall, this is a very decent laptop for the price. It holds true to the high-quality name that HP is known for. I believe that it is a great laptop for students or business people who need something that is easy to carry around a portable. This would not be recommended for anyone that needs a highly spec’d out laptop for heavy gaming or intensive graphic usage.

I've always been a fan of the smaller laptops, but this one beats all past ones by a landslide. It's easily portable, folds over wonderfully, and the keyboard is able to light up once it gets dark with the push of a button. I have no complaints. Both screen and computer themselves are a breeze to clean off, even when a small child decides to pretend to "help work" with sticky Cheeto fingers! I was definitely amazed.

For starters, love the build. Its sleek and light weight. Amazing screen quality, it's smooth, good graphics. I am light user, no heavy gaming stuff, so this seems apt for me. The storage is on a lower side, so that can be a constraint.

I honestly loved the computer but couldn’t stand the noise. It was fast, had an awesome design, looks expensive, light weight but I returned it. The laptop runs hot and the fan runs constantly with noise. I called hp customer care, updated the software as they suggested and they mentioned it could be a hardware issue. I returned it for a new one at Best Buy and it was still noisy, thus, returned the second one too. This is a design issue!

This is a good laptop for the student on the go. Takes up very little room in a backpack and holds a charge for a good length of time. Resolution is very nice for the price paid. Would recommend.

I am typing this review on this laptop - so far, I love it. It is fairly lightweight, quick (something I was a little concerned about with AMD vs Intel), and the speakers are incredible. As I mentioned, speed was something I was concerned about. The chip in this unit put that to rest - this thing flies! I have had multiple tabs open in both Edge and Opera and it moves incredibly quick through everything. I have installed Steam and it works for medium to light gaming as well. Absolutely love it. The speakers are something that surprised me. I haven't had a laptop where I felt the speakers were truly great - this one changes that. Listening to music on 100 volume is awesome, it really sounds great. Obviously, it won't be as awesome as a standalone bluetooth speaker, but it's fantastic for a laptop. Other mentions: Battery life is decent as well, it seems to last longer than my Surface Pro so far. The touch screen is VERY responsive (in a good way), and works great. The keyboard feels incredible, as well. I have had Yoga laptops in the past, and this keyboard is better than those, at least to me. All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you are looking for a laptop to do any sort of web browsing, college work, medium to light gaming - this one is for you.

This little laptop is amazing. Good design, good specs. I will recommend that if one purchases this laptop, spend the extra money to get the larger storage and upgraded processor. Otherwise, perfect for on the go work.

After upgrading the SSD to a Samsung 970 EVO NVME drive, this laptop flew. It was already fast enough before the upgrade but with a NVME drive its now blazing quick. I also had to upgrade the measly Intel wifi card to the higher end Intel wifi card which now gives it Bluetooth 5.0 capability and the ability to reach faster wifi speeds. The build of the laptop is decent. The screen panel is a little flimsy and makes a click sound when I touch the top area of the laptop. Port selection could be better with the addition of an SD card slot. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my purchase.

I have been interested in a smaller laptop for a while. We're an apple family, so I was considering a MacBook Air, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the high apple price. I have always owned hp computers, so when shopping for a smaller laptop, I ended up with this hp. I am really enjoying it so far. I find myself grabbing it in the evenings and taking care of things that I need to do because it is so compact, I can use it while watching tv or before I go to bed. It will be nice to travel with also, instead of my larger old one. I find that while much smaller, the screen space is still nice. It has an excellent picture. Very easy set up and easy to use. It does get pretty warm as some of the other reviewers indicated.

Needed a laptop asap when the one I used for school suddenly broke on me during finals week. This one was a decent priced and I figured the touchscreen/flip into a tablet feature would come in handy taking notes during lectures. I've had it for a little over a year now and it still works great! Definitely recommend for college students.
