Might be nice, but WARNING ABOUT LINES (read more)

After enjoying an older Epson XP and its software, I was searching for a new All In One with better ink capacity. Lasers seemed too expensive to refill. I was excited to find this ET-2850, installed at home, and was disappointed that every image printed with "Standard" quality had a horizontal line (banding) across the bottom of the page. I'm an IT tech and spent much more time than I should have (basically 1 week) running every alignment test, nozzle check, Power Clean (which requires you to wait 12 hours after), only to have the banding return every time, as well as wasting most of the ink on those tests. The funny thing is, if you set print quality to "High", the banding goes away. I've never had a printer that worked that way. You should not have to print every image at high quality to not have a line across it. This is 2024. Ordinary color inkjet printers in the 1990's did not have this problem. I returned for a replacement due to the horizontal banding across the bottom. Sadly, this replacement does the exact same thing, with a horizontal line in the exact same place when printing on "Standard" quality. I will keep this one longer, since I don't print as much graphics as most people, and I like the Epson software. I really want to like this printer, hence the 4 out of 5 star rating. Sadly, it is more of a hassle to box up and return this again, wait for another, install the ink again, etc., than it is to just keep it and deal with the horizontal banding. But if any other issues arise, such as always needing alignment, or banding across my text documents, this one will be going back also, and I won't buy an Epson again. These should be recalled, but if you don't mind a line across the bottom of your image/page, then it's a good printer (I'll find out soon, anyway). I highly doubt I got unlucky and got 2 printers that do the exact same thing. I'd assume every one of these have the banding issues, as I've found others on other forums with the same issue.

    Replacing a HP Printer

I got tired of changing cartridges on the HP printer that I have had for many years. Plus the HP printer has had numerous issues running on a Windows computer. I had previously purchased an Epson printer for my daughter and it has worked well, even though it uses cartridges, the color ones are separate, so you don't have to change out a three color cartridge when just one color is low. I have read a lot of good reviews on the EcoTank printers and therefore decided to buy one. Have not set up this printer yet ... waiting for the cartridges in the HP printer to run out or the next time the HP printer does not want to talk to my computer ... then I will set up this Epson Eco-Tank printer. I will expect it to be just as good as the Epson my daughter has and that buying ink for it will be even less expensive.

Compact, quiet. More expensive than printer with cartridges, but should make that up with ink costing less.

It is a good printer for a printer. If you plan to use it for anything else, say sublimation, don't buy it. You will be wasting your money. For regular printing, it's a great printer, a great buy, and worth it.

Epson printer works very well. Print quality is very good. Easy to fill ink in large reservoirs. Set-up was easy with provided disc. Monitor on printer could be a little larger to make it easier yo read commands.

I replaced an older Epson ink jet that lasted for years. This new ET-2850 is easy to setup with either included instructions or via their app. I used the included instructions. Print quality is outstanding for printing, copy or via scanner. I am impressed with this ET

Saves on Ink! I like that it prints on two sides of the paper. I’m used to a laser printer so it does print slower. Print quality if great. Scanning is very manual since it does not have a feeder. Setup was not fun with such a small window. Reading the small icons is not easy. This is a good choice if you need to save on ink prices and need a dependable wi-fi printer.

Easy to set up and get connected to my wifi. The app makes scanning and printing a lot easier than scanning using my iPhone files. I’ve experienced one paper jam due to the way the paper was sitting in the tray. it was very easy to open the printer, find and clear the paper out.

Works fine for my needs. The print quality is not excellent, can be a little blurred or off. But it suits my needs just fine. I like how well the wifi function works. I do most of my work on the main floor, yet the printer is in the basement and it prints every time. I like that I can visibly see the ink level. Sometimes the paper feed can be a bit picky.

I love my Epson ET 2850 All in one, its easy to operate and does a great job of printing. I will save so much with the new ink bottles. The cartridges were expensive and dried out before we could use them.

I am a Senior and experienced problems with my printer printing. I did the upgrade, had ink level at about 3/4ths. copy print did not work. I went to the BBuy Onalaska not realizing I should have made a Geek Appointment for assistance. AMAXING LEVI took the time to take us over to walk up Geek service and patiently walked us through the maintaince process to clean the ink feed. He was so patient, kind and calm. As we waited for the cleaning update another senior couple walked up and had problems with their printer. Levi very patient and kind assisted them while our job processed. This all happened within about half and hour . We sure do hope Levi is recognized for his patient professional service. As Seniors we are not at teck savy and rely on special employees like Levi. Thank You for making our day Levi. Colleen

Definitely read and follow the directions for set up. Follow prompts on screen. I'm not good at stuff like this but I managed to set it up without my husband's help. It is very touchy when it comes to paper settings. You will get print errors if you do not set it to card stock when you are doing card stock and it will not save your preference. You will have to reset paper settings every time you print. The color is decent although not as good as my color laser--but the ink is cheaper. It's working okay for my purposes. I have printed over 2200 sheets in color since I purchased four months ago with minimum issues. The ink looks about 1/3 to 1/4th full right now and I'm starting to get some fading and lines in the print that have not been resolved through following directions on the printer maintenance functions. It seems to prefer to have the ink nearly full at all times.

Best printer I’ve used in the current era of printers. No goofy subscriptions or ink cartridges to replace. It’s so much cheaper and easier just to fill up a reservoir. I don’t print things very often and I still have a lot of ink left. It’s also nice to just buy individual inks so it doesn’t do that annoying thing other printers do where even if all you need is black, they make you buy the colors. I hope printers like this become the norm.

This printer was easy to set up and use. We were looking for a color printer that will allow us to print directly from our iPhones. Easy to connect to wifi and phones. Print quality is good. Still curious on how long the ink will last.

My second supertank type printer, the first was a Canon, which was also quite good, but so far, I like this Epson even better. It was easier to set up than the Canon, and the print quality is as good or better. I highly recommend this Epson-EcoTank printer.
