Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the EcoTank ET-4850's print quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its compact size. While some users find the noise level a bit high and have experienced challenges with the document feeder and scanning functions, the positive feedback on printing and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most. Impressive design
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the design of this printer with how easy it is to refill the ink without having to constantly buy cartridges. I'm impressed with the speed it prints and scans. I haven't tried the fax functionality. For scanning, I like the ability to see the scan on your phone using the Epson app and then being able to share it via email or text (among other ways).

Very nice printer - My 2nd EcoTank and I like it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Epson EcoTank printer and it's just as great and possibly even better than it was. Having the touchscreen on it is a big help, much better than the one that was on my first EcoTank. It's quieter as well and prints quickly and easily. What is really great is the easy access to the add ink to the 'tanks'. Much less chance of a spill occuring. I actually ended up with absolutely no ink on my fingers, which I'm not sure I ever managed on my first EcoTank. All in all, a great printer. Now, my one big con for this printer is the the Epson scan utility... I COULD NOT get it to load and work correctly no matter what I tried, including uninstalling it several times and reinstalling it. (Thus my taking 1 star off for the "Ease of Use" rating.) However, I managed to find a fellow EcoTank owner on the forum page who had similar problems and then recommended a REALLY great free app to download which sets up extremely easy and runs quickly and efficiently at scanning, plus has a much better edit capability, as well as other much appreciated capabilities. It's called NAPS2 and loaded quickly and easily on my Windows11 laptop and works seamlessly with this printer. So, don't let Epsons poor score for their scanner software they provide, they DO make up for that with the printer itself, and with finding a great scanner app that works so well with it - all is GREAT!

Printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a little loud, but it's a great product for the price point. It's too new to give a lengthy review, but it certainly is working well!

No cartridges
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace an older eco tank ET-2750, which last until the heads wore out after 6 years or so. I like the tray holder for the paper- keeping the paper flat, and lets you load more paper at once. I like the feeder option too to scan more than one page at a time instead of having to lift the scanner lid and replace pages on the flatbed. I haven’t tried photo prints yet. Pro - no stinking cartridges! Con- still can’t empty the waste ink tank. Kinda pricey but got a coupon for recycling the older model.

Epson ET-4850
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two complaints about this printer. First and the worst problem I have experienced is the printer has now failed to print 4 documents that have contained graphics. The printer starts to print and then stops. The display screen says "printing" but after waiting ten minutes the print job is still frozen. I have to go to settings, printers, find my printer and open the job queue and delete the job. Then I have to reboot my computer before the printer will print another document. Now I can print the same graphics document on my ET-5850 in a few seconds. One may ask why didn't you use the ET-5850 in the first place? Well, I paid $500.00 plus 6% tax and 4 extra bottles of ink for the ET-4850 while waiting to buy either the ET-5880 or ET-5850 printer and I plan on getting something for my investment. I don't know if the printer stops printing because it doesn't have sufficient memory or the if this is a software problem. The second problem I have experienced is paper jams and paper not being pulled into the printer. I have solved this problem by only filling the paper tray 3/4 full. My printer will not work if the paper tray if full. The small LCD display makes it difficult to navigate the interface. I knew it was small before my purchase but my display measures 2" x 1-1/2". I don't know where the 2.44" spec comes from. The best thing about this printer is the ink tanks. One set of ink will fill all 4 tanks. I believe the printer will fail before I run out of ink. The replacement ink is a bargain and with the same quantity is half the cost of ink for the ET-5850. I would rather pay a fair price for the printer up front than be afraid to use the printer because of high replacement ink. Another good thing about the ink tanks is one does not have to worry about getting air into the print head. As long as you keep ink above the lower level, there is no way air can get into the system. I also use this printer to print from my Iphone. So, I would recommend those looking to purchase an ink tank printer go with the ET-5850 or ET-5880 if you can find one. You won't regret it.

All the features I wanted
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the printer about a month and so far I've been satisfied. Purchased it because it had all the features that my 20 year old HP printer, that finally died, had. Only problem I had was, it would not let me register it online. I had to call Epson, they were very helpful and helped me get it registered. Other than that, printer was easy to set up. Like that it has double-sided printing, scanning and makes copies. Fax works great and was easy to use. Hope the ink lasts as long as advertised.

I think I may get used to these tank printers
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first tank-type inkjet printer, and the results have met my expectations. I know I’ll be even more impressed when I don’t have to replace the cartridges after a few hundred pages! Epson’s software takes a little getting used to after using HP printers for many years, but if that’s the worst problem I have, then I’m doing good. I was a little disappointed when I saw how much ink the initialization process took, but after about 500 pages (100 at max quality), the tanks have barely moved.

Epson ET 4850 printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prints GREAT photos. I scanned a 50-year-old faded picture and tweaked it with tools and photoshop. It came out looking like new. The print speed is perfectly fine. This thing works better than expected. it has surpassed my expectations, and the reviews don't do it justice. I think it is real bargain at its price point. I

Epson has a winner
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quality of printing is exceptional. Scanning is simple to perform. The EcoTank ink system is really clean and easy to use. The replacement cost of ink appears to be much lower than cartridge systems. Setup on my home network was simple and easy to accomplish.

Epson EcoTank ET-4850
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Epson EcoTank ET-4850 is an excellent printer. I've owned it for 1 year now. I've only used half of the ink that came with the printer. I'm good for 1 more year. The ink sells for about $60, = 2 Year supply. If you are printing photos, fairly good. My photo printer does a better job. My ink for my photo printer is about $120, three times a year, $360. The printing quality for documents is excellent! I have my Epson running WiFi through my router. Everyone in the house can print to it.
