Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the EcoTank ET-4850's print quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its compact size. While some users find the noise level a bit high and have experienced challenges with the document feeder and scanning functions, the positive feedback on printing and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most. A few customers also mentioned the printer's price point as a potential drawback.

The future is here - no more cartridges

Cartridge free printing. This is the wave of the future in my opinion. No more having to purchase individual cartridges for ink. The eco tank system uses bottles of ink. So many benefits to this new system. This unit includes all your small business needs and personal needs. It has an automatic document feeder on top, a flatbed scanner (also used when making copies), duplex (two sided) printing, fax capabilities and hand free voice-activated and wireless printing. The paper tray holds 259 sheets of paper so you are well stocked for even those larger print jobs. You can print from your mobile devices, tablets, laptops or desktops as needed. It also has a nice 2.4” color touch display on the front. There is even a smart phone app you can download to your mobile device to help you with your printing. The ink bottles that come with the printer are high yield which could last up to two years depending on your printing needs. Each set can yield about 7,500 black copies / 6,000 color copies. The printer has a 2 year warranty which is a nice piece of mind that Epson is there in case something should happen along the way. Color printing you will get about 8 pages per minute and black and white copies nearly doubled that to about 15 pages (single sided) per minute. So far this has been a perfect printer for our home needs. From printing to scanning, things could not be going more smoothly.

This is an excellent printer. Especially for the price; I received more than $100 off the original price. So easy to setup. I got tired of buying inkjet cartridges. With this printer you just pour the ink bottles into the individual compartments. Very happy to have this printer

A good all-in-one printer with large ink tanks

The Epson EcoTank printer performs well. The prints/copies are clear and the colors accurate. The device is a little noisy, though. The fact that it has ink tanks, filled from bottles, instead of ink cartridges, should save a lot of money. So far, so good - the ink is going down very slowly. Also, the scanner seems to have very high resolution capability.

    Reliable and promising

This printer does everything you will need for home. For the most part, we print out school items , coloring pages, contracts, etc. So far, it performs as expected. Page printing speed is decent. It does not spew out docs super fast but it’s good enough to print 10-12 page documents at relatively good pace. Double-sided printing is effective and the ink dries fast enough not to smear ink on the other side. Scanning is good too—quality is clear on both document feeder and scanner bed. The footprint is good as well considering it is an all-in-one printer and is relatively small. Connectivity is easy, while Epson app is easy to use, making mobile printing hassle free. Maybe my only gripe is it took a good amount of time to set up. The instructions are easy, especially the visual steps as seen through the app. However, setting up the ink, alignment of paper and all that just takes some time. Although, since it is a tankless printer, I don’t think I’ll have to reload ink for around two years. So far, the printer is reliable with good quality print on regular paper. It seems to me, it does not deplete the ink as fast, after printing a good amount of pages. Though time will tell, this printer already looks promising.

As an owner of a previous model of "ecotank" printer, I am pleased to see this line continue - with improvements! If you have never owned one before, you are in for a treat! You will not have to buy ink for two years (or more) because of the adoption of a self-contained "tank" system. Simply fill the tanks up with the provided ink, and BAM, you are set for 24 months of lovely, full color printing and copying! The quality is outstanding. Photo printing (on photo paper, glossy, matte, card stock - I have tried them all!) brings you vivid, crisp images. The text on documents is just as crisp. The 4850 is certainly a stylish item, with the ability to print, copy, and scan. The auto document feeder comes in handy for when you have a stack of (up to 250!) pages to scan or copy. It has yet to jam on me, and I have given it a torture test of various paper types. What is a game changer in this department for me is that it does auto 2-sided printing. No more "did I turn the paper the proper way" thoughts will have to cross your mind. You can control virtually all of the 4850's functions via its 2.4 color touchscreen. I have giant fingers, and it still did what I poked at, and did not register any false (giant finger) errors. What's more, using this in an office that has windows where the sun (it seems) comes in 24/7 - there is no glare from the touchscreen. The 4850 also brings (easy to set up) connection options. Obviously, LAN is the easiest. Windows and Fedora (Linux) recognized it instantly. Same with the wireless connection option. Though, just for personal reasons, I prefer to use the LAN connection option as it fits my setup and use-case (office) better. And that is not all! (Sounding a bit like an infomercial - not intentional!!!!!) you can print via your phones and tabs via the "Epson Smart Panel" app. This app is fantastic for those late night "I want to print this out, but I don't want to have to pull it up on my PC" moments. No connectivity issues with this either. So, if the thought of getting an impressive printer, by an awesome company which allows you (along with the already pointed out impressive features) to print for 2 years without having to change cartridges sounds right up your alley.... Then the 4850 is right for you. If not (and I cannot think of a single reason why NOT), go ahead and buy that other brand's slightly less expensive offering. In the same two years you could have been like me, and not had to change an ink cartridge; you will have had to change close to one hundred cartridges', in comparison, in your 2 years. Do the math! Not only is the math on your side, but so is the environment. You have just saved one hundred ink cartridges', residual ink, and the usual wasteful packaging from such from entering landfills. If everyone adopted ecotank systems, it would be a good start! Get the 4850 (you know you wanted to anyway. Or you would not have read this far).

The shipping was prompt and BestBuy was the only company that had this particular model in stock at the time. It prints amazing pictures and documents. Very easy to set up on computers and phone app.

The Epson EcoTank ET-4850 All in One is the easiest printer ever to set up and the cartridge free ink system a big plus. The printer is super quite and prints in a matter of seconds.

This is one nice machine! Once I figured out the bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone, setting up the PC was easy. I have to say you do need some common sense following the manual instructions, otherwise it would be challenging if you’re not at least little tech savvy. It was a tad expensive, since I’ll never use the Fax option; but the longevity and economy of the ink was well worth it. Quality of the HD prints is wonderful.

I am relatively satisfied with this all in one, but if you need speed this is not the unit for you. It is fast when printing black text, but it scans somewhat slowly and prints pictures even slower. The quality of the photos is good and the ink lasts much longer per refill, compared to many other models that use cartridges. The initial price is high, but they are not making their money on their ink, so if you don't need a fast unit, this one should be a good choice for you.

It's just OK. Definitely not as sturdy as the HP I had prior to this. I bought it for the ink tanks and I do like that feature so far. The software that came with it looks amateurish. The screen resolution makes it look like it's from 20 years ago. Document feeder (which I don't use often anyway) has problems more often than not. Printing is not as quick as advertised.

I sell online therefore I print a lot of labels and needed a printer that doesn't run through ink crazy fast. This printer is great because I save on ink and can print a lot of labels before I'll need to replace it . I've had this printer for quite some time and I've had no issues other than the occasional jam but I really love my printer
