Pros: Bright, big picture, easy to use, Bluetooth has worked great, relatively quiet fan, small and portable, works great on a tripod quick release plate, comes with small plastic stand, auto keystone is impressive, neat cord management with an easy to remove back plate Cons: HDMI is required for outside display, it can't screen share, built in speaker might be a little quiet, came with 3 remotes, limited options on projector set up menu, power cord is a bit short, only about 5ish feet. Directions don't give you screw size for mounting. (4mm screws) Really excellent piece of equipment! Incredibly bright, I am able to use it for tracing art pieces in daylight. I had no idea this projector did so much! So far I've had great luck with finding apps to watch shows on, including Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, obviously Netflix, and it DOES stream Amazon Prime Video, I know I saw an answer to a question saying it does not, but it does! it has beautiful picture for theater use, and it connects to Bluetooth speakers pretty flawlessly, and the sound from the projector itself does a decent enough job, though it would be diffocult to hear from over 20 feet away with background noise. I do wish the remotes (mine came with 3??) were one remote, I only got one set of batteries, (the manual said the box contained two sets--not a big deal, but it got my hopes up!), and the projector doesn't (as far as I've tried) to connect or screen share wirelessly, it seems am HDMI cable is absolutely necessary. The menu for the projector doesn't have much content and customizability, but its keystone adjustments are pretty stellar, and you can flip the display. I could not for the life of me find ANY information on how this projector does on a tripod, so here's what I've learned so far: The screws are 4mm×6ish millimeters, there are 3 of them, two under screw-in rubber feet on the bottom. I've connected mine to a quick-release disk, I had to get a different screw and washer size, but the hardware checked out and has worked really well, so far, and I still trust the quick release risk more than a tray attachment for a tripod. The projector's got a little plastic stand on the bottom to adjust the height/angle without a tripod. Would I recommend this projector over a large television for a living room or home theater? Absolutely. It's worth the money, and the drawbacks are minimal.

Well I'm not tech savvy but this was easy to set up and download ESPN to watch UFC. FYI the device you make the purchase on is where you'll have access to it. I bought it on my phone and did screen mirror, it still looked fabulous!! The best part is it has bluetooth so we connected to the Sony xb90 and our summer oasis is set! The image is great!! Has 1 HDMI but not really an issue for us since we can download apps via Google chrome. Had it for a short time but hubby said well worth the price!

Crisp, bright picture, decent sound from the small speaker (I purchased a separate Bluetooth speaker for better and louder sound). Set up was an absolute breeze. Up and running and streaming Netflix in minutes. Also purchased a separate large screen so that we could watch outside. would definitely recommend this especially if you can buy it on sale which I did.

Price point is not bad for a laser projector. Also the fact that I got it on discount made it an even better score. Picture is crystal clear, up to 150 inches. I love the fact that you can use Bluetooth to connect other devices. All in all it is a great projector.

Absolutely Awesome! Love the built in apps including KODI! Built in speaker sounds pretty good. I opted to pair it with a sound bar for a little more depth in sound. I use the projector with a 120” Yardmaster projector screen. No need to ever go to the drive in again! Also been the life of all of the draft parties. Only with I could use it during the day but that’s just the nature of the beast with projectors. Projector is much cheaper as compared to outdoor tv.

What I love: Incredibly bright and colorful picture that can be projected most anywhere, even in lit rooms. Auto keystone correction is very cool. Compact enough for traveling. Included Android TV is a sweet addition to this package. What I don’t like: I would have liked to have auto-focus alongside the keystone auto-correction. Resolution is WXGA and would have been nice at 1080p HD. A longer power cable would’ve been nice too. This is my first foray into the projector market and my particular needs call for something that I can quickly stand up and tear down at any place at any moment's notice with ease. And it has to produce amazing picture quality. And it has to look good while doing it, too. Well done, Epson. Keeping in mind that its design revolves around portability, it only has a single HDMI input. The backside houses a small compartment big enough to keep a streaming device like an Android TV (included) or a Roku stick hidden. There's also a dedicated USB port used for powering the streaming device so you won't have to carry an additional power adapter. You can also connect any gaming console, blu-ray player or anything that outputs HDMI to this unit. Other than that, all you need to do is plug it in for power. The unit itself is very solid and hefty, with a hard plastic shell designed to mimic leather grain. The front grille allows air to flow and exit through a side exhaust. It does run hot, so airflow is important. There is a single woofer on the rear panel where the streaming device is hidden. Setup is pretty much a breeze. Turning it on is almost instantaneous; no warm up time required. Once pointed to a projector screen or wall, the unit will automatically perform keystone correction. That's pretty sweet. You still have the option to perform keystone correction manually via dedicated buttons on the unit itself or through the menu settings, although I've never had to use it. I try to keep the output as perpendicular to the wall as possible. There is also a lever to manually sharpen the image, which I do use almost every time I set it up. I guess it would have been nice to have auto-focus here if we’re trying to achieve the ultimate ease of use. If I travel with it, I keep an extra power extension cable handy just in case outlets are out of reach. It does come with an Android TV stick. This is how you are able to use streaming apps on the projector; it's not actually baked into the hardware. Setting up Android TV is as simple as setting up a Google Chromecast. If your current ecosystem is Android-heavy, set up should be second nature. Overall, I’m very impressed with the output from this portable projector. It produces a bright output and colors are very vibrant in well lit room situations and images are sharp. This is the type of performance you want from a projector that’s on the go with you, whether it is from room to room or from one home to another. No need to tell someone to dim the lights because your projector isn’t bright enough. The resolution is WXGA, so you will see the screen door effect as you enlarge the projection, but I didn’t find it too distracting, but 1080p HD would have made this even sweeter. Sound output from the projector is decent. The lows are lacking, but the mids and highs are appreciated. It can get loud enough for everyone to hear clearly, but if you want higher fidelity sound, you have the option to connect a Bluetooth device like a speaker or headphones. I’ve tried with Bluetooth headphones and they work wonderfully with no sound lag. There is also a 3.5mm jack if you need to go old-skool. Bottom line: If you need the mobility with much of the punching power from a dedicated projector, this one's for you. Travel light, my friends!

Great picture. Easy to set up. Speaker is good but so easy to hookup to a Bluetooth speaker( I’d only do this if we were sitting far from projector) Looks great even on my bright coral bedroom wall. You do not have to project onto an all white surface!!! I am also surprised at how great the picture is without the room or outside being completely dark. Works great with the included steaming stick BUT, does not have all the capability we were promised from Best Buy Associate. We were told this projector was compatible with and/or had an Xfinity app available. This is not the case. We can sign into apps of the individual tv stations but this is a little annoying. There are many benefits to using the Xfinity streaming app-watch DVR recordings and being able to fast forward through commercials and also being able to access all the tv stations we pay for all in one place. We overcame this obstacle by purchasing a USB-C to HDMI adapter to hookup a MacBook.

    Powerful Portable Projector

I've always wanted a projector for a media room, but most of them are so large and require installations that you have to really commit to one. What I like the most about the Epson 100W model is that it's also portable. You can pack it up and take it with you on trips, which is what we've done with ours. The unit is small, feels solidly put together and has a footprint that's a little bigger than a 2012 Mac mini desktop, albeit much taller. Setting it ups was a breeze. In less than 5 minutes I had it open, fired up and was signing into my Google Play account to try out one of my movies. I ended up setting it up in our garage for a test run. My kids and I watched Avengers: Endgame and it played beautifully. We projected it out onto our garage door. The laser light system in it makes it to where you can still see the images well in normal lightning conditions. Obviously, with any projector, once we turned off the lights in the garage, the kids felt like they were at the movies. There's so much more detail you can see in a lower light setting with a projector, but this one is also viewable in normal lightning which really surprised me. If you're curious about resolution, this projector maxes out at 1080p HD at 60Hz per the support documentation. I honestly didn't care when we streamed the movie because it was playing perfectly and I also felt like I was back in the theater. Even my wife, who is not a gadget person, came out and watched it with us and was surprised by the quality of the images. The back cover that houses the input ports and home for the Android TV module pops right off with little effort, but also plugs back in and feels secure. There's also an IR port in the back to control the remote with IR - but the initial setup paired the remote, so I assume it's working over Bluetooth since I never pointed the remote at the IR sensor. Another aspect of it that I really like is that the Android TV module that came with it could be detached and other HDMI sources could use it. I tested it out with another streaming device I had and it worked like a charm. The projector also has built in speakers that work well enough in our garage, but there's also the option of connecting a Bluetooth speaker to it or running an Aux out line to wired speaker if you have one. I used the Audio Out when we took it on a trip over the holidays and connected it to a speaker and it worked as expected. I haven't tried the Bluetooth option yet, but it's nice to know it's there if I needed it. The unit comes with 2 remotes as well. One controls the projector and I'm guessing the other one controls the Android TV module in case you wanted to use it with another TV. Since we have our movies in the cloud with MoviesAnywhere, I really didn't see a need to take out the Android TV module, it worked great! I was also able to sign into other streaming services like Hulu and watch streaming content from there as well. If you want to attach a streaming device, you'll also need an HDMI cord since the input in the back of the device is a female port - see my pictures and you'll know what I'm talking about. If you're curious about dipping your toe into the projector world, you should seriously look at the Epson EF-100W. It's a portable powerhouse that produces great images and decent sound, but the ability to plug in other streaming devices and speakers also means this could power someone's home theater without breaking the 4K bank.

Amazing Home Theater in a Compact Box

The Epson EF100 Smart Streaming Laser Projector with Android TV is a fantastic piece of technology for a temporary or permanent home theater.   Unboxing It was hard to believe that everything needed for this configuration was in such a small box. After unpacking all the pieces, I referred to the Quick Setup guide. The streaming TV portion of this configuration is a small device with an HDMI port and a micro USB port. It requires the easy removal of the back panel of the projector, unclipping of the USB cable, and plugging in of the Epson streaming TV device. It fits snugly into the back of the projector, and the back panel is easy to re-attach. Two different remotes come with the unit. One for the projector and one for the streaming device. I was confused by this until the Quick Setup guide stated the streaming device remote is only needed if the device is used outside of the projector.   Setup We powered up our unit with it pointed at a living room wall. The first step was the paring of the projector remote with the projector by pressing two buttons on the remote. The screen from the projector provided instructions and steps for the rest of the configuration. I selected the Wifi ID and entered the password with the remote and an on-screen keyboard. The unit then downloaded an update for the android streaming device. It rebooted after the download, and the main display presented a dashboard of the recommended android streaming apps.   I configured the unit for Netflix, YouTube, and Sony Crackle. I performed a Google voice search from the remote in the Google Store for Amazon Prime. It found the app, but I was disappointed to see it is not compatible with this device. The setting of the vertical and horizontal keystones for a level image on my wall was easy via a button on the remote. We also enabled the Bluetooth option and easily paired the unit with my soundbar. However, even without the soundbar, the audio from the projector is pretty decent.   Video Once the unit was configured, we watched some videos from Netflix, YouTube, and Crackle. The brightness and HD resolution of the video is impressive. We set the projector ten feet from our living room wall, and the image came out to 96 inches wide. Even with light streaming in through the windows, the picture was excellent. However, it is best in a darkened room. Some window framing (faint light around the image) occurs, which is quite common with projectors. I imagine with a movie screen the video would be more amazing. I am very impressed with the levels of color contrast. It is the best I have ever seen in projection technology.   After six straight hours of use, the unit did not get excessively hot, which is the case with most projectors. It has the absolute quietest fan I have ever not heard.   Specifications Per the documentation, this unit uses a unique multi-array laser diode technology for providing exceptional brightness. It also provides an enhanced black density, for an output of 2,000 lumens for both color and white light. An advanced 3LCD chip technology provides the RGB color signal for each frame, which produces an incredible color accuracy and balance.   Pros • Amazing picture quality, even in a lit room, with HD resolution and crisp colors. No ghosting detected. • Very compact design and lighter than I thought it would be. • It has the flexibility of allowing HDMI connectivity to other devices, and the streaming TV device can also be used with different monitors and TVs. • A built-in audio speaker with fantastic volume and bass response. • It supports wired or Bluetooth connections to other speaker systems. • Easy to use projector remote controls both the projector and the streaming TV device. • Almost silent fan. • No excessive heat during long viewing periods. • Automatically works in different orientations of the device. It can even be used for projection on a ceiling. • Google Android dashboard interface for the streaming TV, with support for Google Assistant and over 5000 apps from the Google Store. • Excellent instructions for setup and configuration. • Very easy to update the streaming TV device software. • Easy to configure for your existing Google, Netflix, YouTube, and other accounts.   Cons • No support for Amazon Prime. • Slight window framing around the image. • Requires installation of the streaming TV device into the back of the projector. A minor inconvenience, but could be awkward for less tech-savvy. • The inclusion of a separate remote for the streaming TV device is a little confusing until you read the Getting Started Guide.   Summary My family and I are very impressed with the Epson EF100 Smart Streaming Laser Projector with the built-in Android TV. It is a perfect fit for a home theater, bedroom ceiling TV, or a portable theater for special events.

    Fantastic Portable Content Streaming Projector

Introducing the Epson EF100, the world’s first portable laser 3LCD Android TV Projector. The EF100 is a 6 pound 720P (1280x800 / 16:10) projector with features that make it suitable for the content streaming crowd. The EF100 is Epson’s foray into the portable projector market with a new generation 3-LCD chip and a bright laser source. Given the build quality and design, Epson has hit it out of the ballpark. The bright 2000 lumens, with a 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio, paints a beautiful picture on any surface. The projector very easy to use and versatile to project on any surface; the design allows for the projector to aligned horizontal, vertical and any angle in between. The design is minimalistic and yet functional. A power connector is located on the right side, along with the audio out 3.5mm jack; out back there is an HDMI connector located behind the cloth back cover and includes a MicroUSB power cable to power your streaming stick devices. The projector controls on top are minimal; the primary button to turn on is the power button, supplemented by keystone (override) and volume controls. There is a focus knob on the top of the projector. The projector will automatically adjust keystone when projected along a flat surface (wall or roof). The projector is very well packed as shipped. The contents within the box are unusual as there are two remotes, an Epson branded HDMI dongle and a power cable. Of the two remotes included, only the Epson branded one is required to be paired to operate the HDMI dongle (when connected). The second remote is specific to when the dongle is not connected to the projector and used elsewhere. The Epson remote branded remote is a Bluetooth remote that has a built-in microphone to allow for Google Assistant searches. It is a fully-fledged remote that allows you the experience of all aspects of the Android TV Experience. The Epson EF100 is one of the first OEM Android TV solutions in the projector market. The included HDMI Dongle (ELPAP12) runs Android TV is a 1.8 GHz quad-core streaming device with 4 Gb of available space. On turning on, the device booted Android 6, but after 30 minutes, the device rebooted to the latest Android TV experience (Android 9). The projector setup could not be any easier. The included HDMI dongle connects to the onboard HDMI connector and powered by the MicroUSB. The device when powered up takes only 30 seconds to boot into the Android environment. On first turn on, the projector setup is a simple guided process, which includes the pairing of the Epson remote and connecting to WiFi. Should you already be a Google-connected customer with an Android phone, the setup can copy the settings from your existing Google account to speed up the setup. The EF100 remote can access the Google Assistant features via the inbuilt microphone, which means you could ask it to “open Netflix.” The dongle can also be used to cast similarly to a Google Chromecast device, and capable of beaming content from a host of audio and video applications on Android & iOS. While the Chromecast experience was always considered buggy and not as good as the alternatives, this Android TV experience has quietly fixed a lot of the shortcomings that make you consider this a perfect fit for a streaming projector. The dongle device though limited in space, is capable of installing all the latest streaming applications. On boot-up, the device comes pre-installed with Youtube and Netflix. One can install a host of other streaming applications available in the Google play store, including Hulu, Disney+, HBO, Amazon Prime, Plex, VLC Player, Kodi and more. When using the projector to watch streaming content, the video size projected is roughly 10” for every foot at its widest projection, so a 60” screen could be projected at roughly 6 feet from the screen to a maximum of 150” projection. The onboard sound is quite satisfying without having to use external speakers to boost audio output. Should you need louder sound, the projector allows you to connect a 3.5mm audio connector to the side, or use Bluetooth audio streaming (with aptX) for optimum sound quality. Pros: • Compact, portable, go-anywhere content streamer projector. • Loud and clear onboard sound, and ability to hook to an external speaker • Bright, clear & crisp video that can be projected anywhere. • Quiet fans, efficient cooling, no leakage from the light source (laser) • Android TV experience makes this device usable in an everyday environment Cons: • 720P resolution, though crystal clear, one would hope it would be 1080P - next version eh Epson? • No screen/lens cap to protect the lens • No carry case for a portable projector (unlike many of the Epson Business Projectors that include a case) • No MHL ability, therefore, no connecting an HDMI cable to the phone.

Never owned a projector before and was happy to receive this product. Set up is super simple with the included quick start guide. I was up an running in minutes. The image quality is awesome, but if you try and make the image too big you start to see the quality diminish some. But keep it at a reasonable size and you'll be very happy like I am. You have access to the play store and android TV plus built in chromecast. This Epson projector is the ultimate entertainment set up IMO. It has Bluetooth so if you have a Bluetooth sound bar then you can listen to your shows or movies in HD instead of using the built in speaker (which does get really loud). The processor running this projector and software seems sufficient. I have not noticed any lag when going between screen and apps. I think anyone who buys this and knows what they are getting will really be happy with their purchase. Pros: setup; image quality; Playstore; Android TV; Chromecast; compact design. Cons: Getting the projector into a place that is level and out of the way and finding a blank wall (or you can buy a screen) The pictures I posted with the projector are just temp location to get it up and running and test everything out. Not its final resting place. Ill have to make some changes to my entertainment area to incorporate this into it. (See cons)

Picture & build in sound exceeded expectations. Performs incredibly even in well lit rooms. I’ve taken this thing on road trips, mounted it on ceilings and walls, she’s been so versatile and has impressed many of our friends. We change out the filter when the humming gets louder but other than that it’s performed perfectly with no other maintenance. Couldn’t recommend this guy more. Add to cart.

I was impressed by its size upon first opening. While not small like some portable phone projectors, for a full feature projector it doesn't sacrifice to accommodate the small size (see picture). This is designed to be used with the accompanying Android TV streaming device that is included but you can easily attach any other streaming stick device you prefer. The rear panel is designed to connect, hold, and power such devices. Initial installation is easy and takes no time at all. I had everything running in about 5 minutes. As easy as if setting up a new smart TV. Or you can just bypass it by attaching a device you already have set up. For example my PS4, Roku Stick, and Fire Stick all work, and why wouldn't it? Any device that can connect to an HDMI port will work. After initial set up power on time is faster than my Samsung smart TV. It comes with two remotes but worry not. The Epson one is the one you'll be using to work the projector and the Android device. The other remote is for using Android TV on another device which is great. You aren't forced to use the projector to use Android TV and vice versa. You can use each together or independently. I find Android TV superior to other streaming stick devices I've used. The UI is less cluttered and it finds and holds an internet connection better, and the apps run smoother and faster. The projector itself runs very quite. Heat was normal during a two hour test watch of Netflix. The internal fan didn't run once while the unit was in a normal room temperature environment. I like that you can manually turn on the fan to keep the streaming device cooled in the rear compartment. It has an adjustable leg to angle the unit higher depending on your needs. How much it helps depends on how far back the projector is from the screen/wall. I use projectors and work for presentations as well as movies but compared to those, the brightness and clarity are exceptional. No need for the bulb to "break in" this looks great out of the box. Even in a semi-lit room, with sunlight peaking in the image was clear and noticeable . Now is the image as good as a 4K HDR television set? No, but I find that it has great color and shadow/bright range. Brights aren't blown out to pull out detail in the shadow nor the other way around. These to me are essential for a good image. Gaming looks great as well as movies and the image is in focus from edge to edge. You don't need to trade off a large viewing screen for image quality, here you have both. Keep in mind that most walls aren't neutral white so you may need to adjust image setting to get accurate colors. The internal speaker is just okay. It does tend to break up at higher volumes and sounds in danger of a blowout at full volume. In small to normal sized rooms this isn't a problem though. Luckily it can connect to external speakers via Bluetooth or 3.5mm headphone jack. Because of it's portability, this unit begs to be used in your backyard watching a movie on the side of the house. If so, I think external speakers are going to be mandatory, unless you plan on being within a foot or two of the projector. With it's fast easy set up and portability, I would say the only thing that will take time is finding the right spot in order to get a good projecting angle. Even with the previously mentioned leg adjustment you can further adjust image tilt in the menus or with the face buttons. The power cord is 6ft more or less, so an extension cord might be in order depending on your situation. Everything else is an easy plug, play, and enjoy.

Awesome, Attractive, Versatile All in One Next Gen Projector Overview: The EF-100 is the best looking and among the most versatile all in one portable projectors I have used. It is lightweight, easy to set up and includes both streaming capabilities and built in speakers. Unboxing Experience and Projector Appearance: I wouldn't normally highlight the unboxing, because in my experience, projectors don't normally have a very user friendly set up process. But Epson has made this projector set up easy and elegant. Unboxing, setting up streaming stick and getting up and running was easy and added to the value of the projector overall. The project has an elegant chassis that looks more like a next gen tech product than a projector. The instructions were easy and connecting the streaming stick inside the projector cover was fast. Versatility, Image Quality and Quick on/off - Wall to Ceiling: The projector can be placed in nearly any position and is even capable of being laid on its back and projecting on the ceiling. While the lens does not have a manual shifter, you can adjust the image size digitally and can quickly and easily address keystone issues. All of this, coupled with its streaming ability and built in speakers make the projector easy to use virtually anywhere. The moment it was out of the box, my daughter and her friends were lying flat on their backs and watching their favorite movies and YouTube videos on the ceiling! I was concerned that the 1000 lumens wouldn't be bright enough during the day, but I was surprised that the projector handled light in the room quite well. The image quality is vibrant, the system turns on and off almost instantly and is quieter than any other projector that I have used. Recommendation: I would strongly recommend this projector to anyone that is looking for an easy to use, attractive, portable all in one projector. It's the most "consumer friendly" projector I've ever used. And, while it is not the brightest projector out there, it can handle ambient light quite well. It is ideal for quick movie nights virtually anywhere! This is a review for the Epson EF-100 Mini-Laser Streaming projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
