Great Picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started out being a bit skeptical about the claims of bright clear picture but I have to say.. it looks great! Now while I wont be using it as a main viewing system we (wife lol ) has decided to use it as a "party/Family" get together system to watch movies etc. We tested it by taking it out on deck and showing in on a large sheet and it had a nice bright, clear picture. We still need to get the screen tacked down so there is not sway. The on board audio is acceptable but we will be using an external audio speaker more than likely. Setup was a breeze and I really wanted to start using it right away but will be waiting to get a dedicated area in game room and on outside deck. All the apps on android stick worked as expected and you can also hook up an external source (Via HDMI) if you wish to do that. Overall I'm very happy and for the going price it's a steal IMO.

Great Picture, Set up and stream in minutes!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Portable and wireless, it can be set up quickly and moved to suit entertainment and space needs. Screen size can be tailored to needs or wall /screen size up to 150 inches! The picture quality is crisp and bright. The projector also has integrated audio which has great stock sound, or you can run it out to an external speaker system and use the audio controls. I have been watching a lot of football on this and will be looking forward to playoffs on large screen. The nice thing though is the integration of android tv and all of the streaming capabilities installed. I am using it to stream workout videos that I was using my phone or tablet for previously. This is very versatile and easy to set up and use anywhere. Highly recommend!

Projects Everything Anywhere
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Epson EF-100 projector is portable powerhouse. It is extremely flexible and can project brilliant images on nearly anything you have available. Because it has a built in Android TV Streaming stick along with a small but ample speaker it really is a portable one-piece show. SET UP: Setting up the projector was extremely simple. Packed with the projector is the Android TV streaming stick and two remote controls. One remote controls just the projector and the second one controls both the projector and the streaming stick. The Android TV streaming stick is the equivalent in size to an Amazon Fire stick yet slightly shorter than a Roku Streaming Stick +. To install the Android TV streaming stick you remove the rear panel to get access to a bay which holds the streaming stick and has a hdmi input cable and a micro usb power cord. You can swap out the streaming stick with a Fire Stick if you like but because Roku uses a mini usb power connector it would need an extra USB mini to USB micro adapter cable. I personally liked the included Android TV streaming stick even though I have Roku and Amazon sticks elsewhere in the house. The unit has its vents on the same side as the power plug so you can place the projector on its side or its back or in the standard mounting position. Being able to place it on its back allows you to watch movies or play games on the ceiling which was a big hit in my house. The set up is menu driven and easy to follow. Connecting the projector to my 5ghz wireless band was straight forward and I was able to pair it with my blue tooth enabled sound bar, head phones and ear buds without any issues. I was able to go from unboxing to playing YouTube videos on my wall in less than 10 minutes. FEATURES and CAPABILITIES: The biggest huddle for a projector is producing light and color in a room with a fair amount of ambient light. This projector did a good job in various lighting conditions including a room with a wall full of windows during the daylight hours. The projector provides 2000 lumens using a laser light source and because it uses 3 chip LCD technology the colors were rich and well pronounced even in the brighter conditions. There are 4 preconfigured display settings going from brightest to softest you have Dynamic, Bright Cinema, Natural and Cinema. I found that using the Dynamic and Bright Cinema to be too bright for low light viewing but quite nice for the brighter rooms. The Natural and Cinema modes are much more subdued and deliver quality images in a lower lit area. The resolution is WXGA (1280 by 800) on a native aspect ratio of 16 x10. The projector does have options for aspect ratios of Auto, 16x9, Full and Zoom. The Full and Zoom can be useful in eliminating the black bars around the content or filling in the entire light field if that’s an issue. Even though the projector does 1280x800 I found that the overall image was still quite acceptable even if the input was FHD or 4K. The projector has automatic vertical keystone correction but also includes both horizontal and vertical manual adjustments as well. The focus is a manual slide switch that allows you to get crisp imaging with minute movements. The throw ratio of the projector is 1.04 in wide mode to 1.4 in Tele mode. You can adjust this to help format your image to the light field and/or to your projector screen. I use a 100 inch projector screen and tweak the setting to fully fill the screen without any light spilling over the edges. Epson included lots of options to tweak from white balancing to saturation and contrast levels. The best part is that you can save multiple configurations so that you don’t have to remember each setting for each type of content or room/projection surface. The speaker that is included sounds much larger and better than you would expect. There are four sound modes; standard, vocal, music and movie. I felt that for playing games or watching impromptu movies on the ceiling the speaker did a nice job. For a serious move however I used the blue tooth to play the audio through my soundbar. WHATS NOT PERFECT: There aren’t many issues with the projector. The projector leg to raise the front of the projector is not the typical one I have seen on Epson projectors. It does the job but it feels cheap and not very reliable. While WXGA was the primary resolution for laptops and computers in the past most higher end devices today display FHD or 4K natively. BOTTOM LINE: This projector does a very nice job of projecting bright and colorful images in every scenario I have tried. The ability to use the Android TV streaming stick along with the enclosed speaker make this a perfect companion to share content or gaming on nearly any surface without having to lug a ton of equipment.

Awesome little projector
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our living room ceiling is open into the second story above, so we have a perfect 12'-by-12' white space on the wall above our existing TV where we can project. This Epson throws a nice, crisp image in that space that's clearly viewable in the daytime and we even have lots of north windows with no blinds on them so there's quite a bit of ambient light. At night, it's nearly perfect and almost like going to the movie theater. I love this projector and am glad I got it, but I'll start out with the couple of little things I don't like about it. It comes with a small Android TV "stick" that fits perfectly inside the back cover, draws power from the USB cable there, and plugs into the HDMI input. This gives you all the streaming capabilities via Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, etc. Unfortunately, one of my big streaming sources is Amazon Prime and the app can't be installed from the Play store on it (it says the app is incompatible). Sure, you could plug in a Fire TV or Roku stick but just be aware Prime isn't an option with the included stick. Another solution is to Chromecast it from my phone, which does work perfectly. So, in the end, it's not a huge inconvenience. The other minor disappointment involved bluetooth lag, which I understand is more of a limitation of the bluetooth technology itself. When I link the projector to my existing soundbar there's about a quarter second delay between the video and resulting sound. Some devices will let you configure a video delay to compensate, but I've not found a way to do that with the Epson. So, bluetooth really isn't a usable option for me. The sound from the projector itself is okay, but not the quality you want for watching movies. My workaround was to use a Bose portable speaker and directly cable through the aux ports. This works well, but is not as convenient as bluetooth and not as high-quality sound as the soundbar and subwoofer would provide. Beyond these two things, I love almost everything else about the projector. As I mentioned, it's a great, crisp picture that's consistent from edge to edge with no "rainbow" effects or other distortion that I can see. It pretty much looks like an LED TV, though not quite as bright, of course. Best of all, there's no bulb to burn out or degrade over time and need replacement. One of the documents I found on the EF-100 estimates a 20,000 hour life for the "MicroLaser Array" technology. It is also amazingly easy and effective to do the "keystone correction" which is distortion from the angle of the projector to the screen or wall. In my setup, the projector is projecting the image up higher on my wall which would normally make for a very trapezoid-shaped image. But with the horizontal and vertical keystone adjustments I can make it very nearly a perfect rectangle. I was really impressed with this feature. The projector is also amazingly compact and lightweight. That makes it easy to setup and then put away after use. It would also be pretty easy to travel with this projector, though I'd definitely want to protect it from unnecessary bumps and rough handling. I also like that a single remote works to control both the projector and the included streaming stick. That's one less thing to keep track of. Overall, I love this projector and think it's a great value. Everyone that sees the image for the first time says "Oooooh" with good reason. It's an impressive little projector!

A very capable, yet smaller projection unit!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, what a great little unit. I've had larger projectors in the past, but they always seemed to be difficult to set up, either temporarily or to get just right with a permanent set-up. This projector came well packaged and literally took less than 5 minutes to set up and start watching - on my ceiling, no less. It comes with Android TV streaming access, as well, so also a major plus. Picture was crisp and sharp, even as I enlarged the size. Sound was also decent for a smaller unit - nearly comparable to a regular TV. The unit is easily portable - a travel case would have been nice, but the unit is pretty self contained so not a necessity. I'm looking forward to taking it to the beach. If there is one minor complaint, it's the brightness. Could've been a little stronger. To get the best visual, you either want to avoid any natural or artificial light. In sum, I definitely recommend this projector to any casual viewer. This is a review for the Epson EF-100 Mini-Laser Streaming projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Portability!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using home audiovisual projectors for more than 15 years, witnessing significant advancements over that time. I recently got the Epson EF-100W projector, and it’s a big improvement over my last projector. I’ll explain. My first observation about the EF-100W is its smaller size relative to my past projectors. It’s almost (but not exactly) square, measuring approximately 9” wide and deep, about 4” tall, and roughly 6 pounds in weight. This makes a difference in terms of portability, and in turn the usefulness of the projector. I put it in a backpack to take it to a friend’s home to watch college bowl games. When not in use, I plan to leave it in that backpack so it’ll be ready to move around my own home and other locations. This portability factor is a huge plus. In terms of image quality, I’m impressed. The brightness is what makes this so much better than my past projectors. The difference is significant. I’ve used the Epson EF-100W in lighted rooms, yet the picture quality was good enough for comfortable viewing. One of my main uses for projectors is viewing sporting events on an outside blowup screen. Until now I could only use this after nightfall, but I can now use it in the late afternoon before the sun sets. Though the projector image is very bright, it’s not sufficient to use in full daylight. My only complaint is that I can sometimes see the pixels in the image, some call this a screen door effect. The EF-100W has Android TV built-in. Before now I hadn’t tried Android TV, so I was a bit concerned about setup. It turns out that was an unfounded concern. Setup merely involved entering my Google ID and password. I linked my ESPN and Netflix subscriptions, and in less than 10 minutes I was able to watch projected content completely wirelessly! This is a big deal to me because with my previous projectors I had to physically connect them to other content-broadcasting devices (e.g. my cable TV box). So, combining these 3 major features (small size, bright image, and built-in wireless access) makes the Epson EF-100W a fantastic device. For people seeking ease of use and portability I highly recommend this projector.

My first projector. Wow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first experience owning a projector, and I'm very impressed. My previous contact with projectors has been in friends' basements, and past experiences told me they took several minutes to warm up, got hot as blazes, had noisy fans, and required near-absolute darkness for a usable picture. Those days, it seems, are over. The Epson EF-100 was unboxed, powered up, projecting at full brightness, and connected to my wireless network in about five minutes -- no exaggeration! It could not have been easier. And quiet? The big, bright picture is the only hint that it's running. The projector is barely warm to the touch after hours of use. The onboard Android integration makes watching what you want a breeze. YouTube? Netflix? Amazon? Hulu? No problem. If there's an app, it's at your fingertips. There is an integrated HDMI port that makes connecting your Chromecast, Blu-ray/DVD or game console easy. We're running a Switch, and Mario & friends look terrific. The EF-100 is small and light enough that it is easy to move from room to room, and the picture geometry adjustments make it easy to compensate for less-than-ideal placement. You can even stand it on its back and project on the ceiling! Weather permitting, it would make a great outdoor projector (on the side of the house?) for a summer movie night. It'd be a snap to put it in a backpack and take it to a friend's house. The integrated speaker is a pleasant surprise. It's powered by 5 watts and sounds surprisingly good. But if that's not enough, there's also Bluetooth to pair with your speaker of choice. We don't have a proper screen yet, but no matter where we point it (the worst spot so far is a beige painted, panelled wall), it looks great, even with curtains open or the overhead lights at full brightness. I'm shopping for the right screen, but the image is so pleasing that finding a screen is much less urgent. Overall impression: Big things can come in a small package. I love this projector.

Easy setup, great features!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The projector was really easy to setup and the inclusion of an Android streaming device is a huge bonus - while still allowing HDMI connection to other inputs. The inclusion of a speaker is great too to use in smaller spaces but you can still hook it up to an external sound system. The ability to project on almost any surface is a huge plus too. I highly recommend this Epson projector!

Nice software to have built in!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My house is Google assistant-centric and this is the perfect addition to the household. The set-up was a breeze (mostly app-based), plug it in and follow instructions. The size is compact and the design is modern, but the quality of the picture is great. I'm projecting on my wall now for tv and gaming, but I'll buy a screen later. Wonderful game room accessory.

This projector is great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a review for the Epson EF-100 Mini-Laser Streaming projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. This projector is great and easy to setup. I was up and running in 10 minutes or so. The only issues I had was figuring out why the projector came with two remotes, and the automatic update when in the middle of viewing a video to check video quality. I couldn't find anything in the manual that clearly stated the purpose of the two remotes. What puts this projector over the top are the integrated chrome cast, apps like Netflix, and the projector has access to the google play store meaning you can download new apps that come out down the line. I used this projector to cast youtube videos from my iphone and android to the projector to the back wall of my living room. In addition, I was able to hookup my Playstation via HDMI and that's was fast and easy. Another neat feature is the Bluetooth connectivity. I linked up the projector's audio to my Bluetooth speaker and it was neat, the only drawback is that the audio was sometimes off by 1/2 a second due to the wireless connection. I always wanted a projector but hesitated due to the poor picture quality that plagues projectors. However, I can say the picture quality from the EF-100 is amazing. It will not replace your TV in a brightly lit room, but the picture doesn't completely wash out either, especially if there is any outdoor light coming inside your house. So if you're in the market for a projector I think this would be one of the best ones to choose from.

Best Buy Lies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Best Buy site says the resolution is 1080P at 1920 x 1080 but it is not quite 1080p. Also, it's not 720p. It's right in between at WXGA or WXGA (1280x800). 2nd time specs were wrong on a big purchase I wanted to make at Best Buy - both times, the wrong specs were the ones that were the deal breaker for me
