Great picture, nice and compact, but needs a better speaker! You definitely need an external speaker to plug in.

I love the projector, but it is the second one in three months to fail. The first one lasted a day. The second one lasted a couple of months. The projector won't stay on for longer than a few minutes and shuts down as if it over heated. A huge waste of time and effort.

Home cinema projectors are a great addition to home entertainment and we’ve had a great experience with our previous Epson home cinema projector. Nothing beats the wow factor of enjoying the large screen size either in a room of your home, the man cave, she-shed or even outside by the pool. This is one way for families to bring the theater home to them; which is especially appealing given the current virus situation. The EpiqVision Mini EF11 Laser Projector offers some features we did not have in our previous model. The convenience that comes with the EF11 is a plus given its compact size, streaming ready capability and integrated dual-speaker audio system. Projector placement options include a flat surface or on a projector mount and may be projected from the rear or front. Epson provides projection distance recommendations in their online manual taking into consideration screen/image size and projection distance. Tripod mounting is available also by removing the rear feet. Connectivity options are available via one HDMI port, one USB-A port and an audio out port. Setup is simple on a level surface and one can adjust the front foot to position the image as desired. Video sources such as a dvd, pc, laptop or camera can be connected via HDMI. Streaming options via HDMI include Apple TV, Roku, Amazon FireTV or Android TV. Note that Epson strongly recommends that the projector be powered on first and then the video source to avoid damage to the projector. Connecting our Amazon Firestick was simple and the Epson remote worked to easily navigate the Firestick menu; as did the Amazon Firestick remote. Utilize the Keystone settings as needed to correct the screen image shape as needed based on your projector placement and angle. The focus lever allows quick and easy focus adjustment of the displayed image. We found the built-in audio system to be adequate for the sake of convenience, but it is not going to replicate a quality surround sound system by any means. I would think the expectation with this EF11 model is that one has the ease of quick use and setup without having to provide other audio sources. The projector menu does include various sound modes that can be selected for standard, vocal, music and movie. Especially with a higher quality audio source this emphasis between hearing voices and dialogue, and higher and lower pitched sounds would be more distinct. Video quality truly is impressive, even up to 150”, and will not disappoint. You’ll feel you got your money’s worth when you see the image size and picture quality coming from such a compact projector. The advanced 3LCD technology and Epson microlaser array projection technology results are impressive. The 200,000:1 contrast ratio and dynamic contrast control really do produce an amazing image with very good color accuracy. We watched a variety of things from movies to series to music videos with fantastic results. Epson does provide many menu options to fine tune video for optimum brightness, contrast and color for various images and viewing environments. Color modes include dynamic, vivid, bright cinema, cinema and natural to find one that suits viewing in bright or dark environments. Additional menu options allow adjustments to luminance, light output, sharpness, color temperature, RGB offset and gain, hue-saturation-brightness for individual image color, and gamma. Custom modifications can then be saved to memory. For business or school, this projector will also support PC free presentations for multiple image file formats. As with nearly all functions related to this projector one can use the remote to start your slideshow, movie or other video source. Wireless network projection from a mobile device (screen mirroring) is available using Miracast and accessed in the projector settings menu. To summarize, I can’t say enough about the wow factor of Epson projectors when it comes to image size and picture quality. They just do not disappoint and we’ve found very little adjustment is necessary to be satisfied with the video quality. This EF11 laser projector model builds on picture quality by offering a small, portable size, easy streaming options and an integrated audio system for quick use and set-up. The main negative I see is don’t misplace the remote since there are very few controls on the projector itself. Given that Epson states the laser light source is good for 20,000 hours this projector should bring a lot of enjoyment.

The quality of the image was nowhere near as good as the previous epson 3lcd 1080p projector that I orchard this to replace. I was talked into buying it by one of the store reps who said the image quality would be far superior to the bulb version I wanted to get since it was a laser. It wasn't. To make matters worse when I went to return the it, I had to pay the $105 restocking fee. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed.

It's a fine budget laser projector but I've exchanged the unit 3 times via Epson due to discoloration and color bleed. I would have preferred to spend more and avoid the headache.

    Decent projector

This is a fairly decent projector as long as you are in the right setting. It is lacking a couple key features that would make this an amazing projector! Right out of the box you'll be amazed at how small this thing is. It is the most compact and lightweight projector I've ever used. It was very easy to set up and get running. If you have used any kind of projector in the past, this will be very familiar to you. This projector seems to have been designed around the notion that the user will plug in a Fire stick or Roku or a similar streaming device like that. Which is totally fine in this day and age. I plugged in an old Fire Stick I had laying around into the HDMI port and was up and running in no time! There are, however, a couple things that could have been added to the features of this projector to make it better. First of all, the USB port should be able to power your fire stick or similar device that requires USB power. Otherwise you have to run a separate power cable away from the unit to get power to your device. Another HUGE oversight in my mind is the ability to connect to a Bluetooth audio device to send the sound to. I'll be honest, its nice that there are speakers in the unit, but they are not very good. Being able to wirelessly connect to a sound bar or Bluetooth speaker would have made the user experience so much better! I know this feature is available on their EF12 projector and it would have been nice to see it on this one as well. With those 2 small gripes out of the way, I will get to the performance of this projector. I was actually surprised how good the picture looked coming out of this small projector. I have an older Epson projector with a lamp and this one looks just as good if not better than that one does. One place this projector lacks a little bit is in the lumen output. You have to have a fairly dark room to get the most out of this projector. Its bright, but if there is any sunlight or a lot of other ambient light in the room it will severely affect the picture. So keep that in mind when purchasing. I have a basement room that I can cut out all light and it worked great in there. I had it up to a 120 inch diagonal screen size and it looked great! There are tons of settings to adjust the picture and get it looking exactly how you want it! They say you don't need a screen, but unless you have a nice white wall to project it on, I would suggest using a screen. One other small thing that would have been beneficial is a lens protector. There is no sliding lens cap or anything like that to protect the lens. A small oversight, but would have been nice to have. Overall, If you have a fairly dark room you want to put this projector in and don't mind running extra cables to power your streaming device and to run sound to a sound bar, you will probably be very happy with this projector. It has a great image quality and with the laser instead of a lamp it will last you many, many, many, many years! For the price point of this projector, I think it could have had a few more features to make it a little more user friendly though.

This little projector is really something else. I didn’t quite know what to expect. I already have a portable projector. It’s OK, but I’m never loved it and it rarely gets used. I thought perhaps I’d give this a shot since I really enjoy watching movies and sports on the side of my garage but am limited by my current device. WOW…this thing is so much better than my old unit. Let’s start from the beginning. The packaging is solid and protects the unit well in shipping. No issues there at all. Unboxing was simple, and most of the packaging is recyclable. There are a couple of plastic bags that are not. That irritates me a bit in this day and age, but it’s not a deal breaker. There is a quick start guide included that will get you up and running via USB or HDMI. This unit also handles screen sharing, but you will be referred to the full manual online for instructions on how to mirror your device screen through Miracast. Note that there is no HDMI cable included. There is a line in the manual that say not to connect your source to the unit before you turn it on, or you may damage the projector. I have no idea why, but that’s what is says, so I followed the guidance. It was really simple to hook up. Plug the laptop into the projector with an HDMI cable, fire up the projector and laptop, and it just works. There are a couple of screens to click through the first time you use it, but after that, it throws the image right to the wall…no hoops to jump through. The automatic keystone is really nice. The manual focus was simple to use. You do need to have it pointed straight at the projection area if you want a good rectangular image. Thank goodness that that image height angle peg is push button and not just a long screw that you have to mess with. It’s easy to move the image up or down the screen with the push of a button. I was really surprised by the brightness, clarity, and color accuracy right out of the box. I did eventually tweak things just a bit to my liking, but it wouldn’t be necessary if you don’t feel like digging into the settings menu. Adjusting image size is also quite easy and instructions are included in the quick start guide. There are some presets to choose from such as vivid, natural, movie, etc. One of them is likely to work for your taste. The image size it impressive. Right out of the box, I had to shrink it down to the smallest size to fit on my wall. I can’t wait to get this thing out on my garage in the spring! We streamed a couple of shows right away and it did a great job. Very clear. Action is crisp. It was watchable with the lights on but was really nice with a dimly lit room. I doubt that you could use this in full sun, but a late evening campfire and a movie on the side of the garage, tent, or camper would be spectacular. We also tested out the mirroring. It worked really well. I’m not sure why they tell you to go to the online manual to figure it out. You simply press the input button on the remote until it says mirroring. Then it shows you the name of the device on the screen. Just find it through your smart device and hit connect. That’s it. It worked on my daughter’s cell phone that is 5 generations old with no trouble. I did notice that I needed to keep the phone fairly close (10 feet) to the projector to keep from seeing lag spikes. Not sure if that’s a thing, but something to note. The audio is just so so. You can’t expect much in a package that size. It’s certainly adequate to watch a movie, but you won’t get much low-end sound. I just used my BT speaker connected to my laptop…no problem. If you want better sound, they make the same projector, but with a built-in sub. Obviously, it’s bigger to accommodate the speaker, but it likely has better sound if you don’t want to carry around a Bluetooth speaker. I can’t really find a reason not to like this projector. It is 1000% better than my old mini projector. I like that it should last a LONG time being laser rather than led. I can’t wait to use it outdoors when the weather warms up! For now, we’ll just keep watching movies on the wall.

If I could give it less than 1 star I would do so from the Best Buy service. This projector does not give a clear nor bright picture. I tried to return it but I was not aware of the $175 restocking fee. It was on the website but I did not notice it. It cost me $175 to take home and try a very below average projector for 10 minutes. Could not be more unsatisfied.
