Not a bad projector. Using the remote and interface can be challenging at times due to the lag.

Picked this up July 31 2025, and after coming back from a 5 day trip (no one was home to use it) the thing died. Called Epson support because I’m now outside the return window and they said it’s a hardware failure and have to send me another projector. On top of that, they want to send a refurbished one while placing a hold on my card until they get the defective unit back, even though I’ve barely had this one for 33 days. Buy the Samsung or LG projector

After using the new Epson EpiqVision Mini EF22 for a week I have some thoughts about what makes this projector special and what its lacking. There’s mostly only good things with this product and I have enjoyed it thoroughly.
Build Quality:
This is an area where this projector really shines. Being marketed as a portable projector its important for it to be rugged and capable of handling some abuse. I took the projector on a mini vacation with some friends and set it up down by the pool to project a football game onto a wall. Something like this is where this projector really shows what its strengths are. I basically threw the projector into a backpack and brought it down to the pool area and within 10 minutes I had a 150 inch screen for everyone to enjoy watching the game. It was such a cool thing to be able to do and only made the night better. The construction of the projector is tight and well made. The plastic components feel strong and well connected. The front plate where the lends is feels like it will protect the lens well. The stand provides excellent usability and form to stand the projector up without worrying about it falling over.
Main Use of Projector:
When I read the lumens to just about anything I just basically ignore it. The measuring of lumens is very confusing. I usually just test the product myself or wait for a trusted person to review the product. I am happy to say this projector gets plenty bright for what the average person would require. Now, don’t expect to throw a watch party outdoors in broad daylight. You will be sorely dissatisfied as you would with almost ANY projector. I tried to use it in my living room during the day with the blinds shut and it was fine. I would say that’s about the limits of this projector as far as brightness is concerned. The actual quality of the picture is great. The colors are very bright, vivid and the picture is sharp. For a little higher price, I wish Epson just made it a 4K projector. The price is pretty steep for a 1080p projector but the added benefits of the color accuracy and build quality still make it a reasonably priced product. Even when stretched out to 150 inches the picture is great, especially when viewing from a distance. This projector also has auto focus which is such a great feature. On my other projector I always have to do manual focus, and it can be a pain. The auto keystone is also a nice feature. The Google TV OS is fine. It’s the same as my OLED TV but it’s a little on the slow side. It suffers from the same Wi-Fi cutting out when powering on as my TV which is annoying. If that’s something that really bothers, you then you can attach your preferred OS via the HDMI port in the back. The sound quality is surprisingly decent if you don’t have something to connect to it. Personally, sound is super important to me, so I used a Bluetooth speaker, and it worked flawlessly. However, in a pinch I would have no problem using the onboard speakers for like gaming or YouTube videos. Something else that has been a pleasant surprise is the lack of fan noise. Projectors get super hot so they need fans to cool them down. The cooling system on this projector is great and hardly makes a noise. This is a super plus for me!
Conclusion:
All in all this projector provides a great platform as a portable projector with decent sound quality. I was super happy with its use over the last week. Between watching movies, youtube videos, doing a little gaming, and bringing it outdoors for football games, its been a real hit in my home. If you want an easy to use portable projector that’s well built, I think you will be really happy with this projector!

Worked for about 20 minutes. Wasn't very bright or crisp, then started freaking out with errors and never worked again. Returned and looking elsewhere. Not at all worth the price even without errors.

I recently got this Mini EF22 projector, and it has been a delightful addition to our home entertainment setup. While this device has its pros and cons, we are thoroughly impressed with its overall performance and would happily recommend it to others.
Packaging and Setup Experience
The projector arrived in a neatly packed and securely wrapped box, ensuring it reached us in perfect condition. The unboxing experience was smooth and reassuring, giving us a sense of the product's quality right from the start. Setting it up was incredibly simple, taking hardly any time.
All you need to do is plug in the power cord and turn on the device using the remote control. The intuitive setup guide displayed on the screen walks you through the steps seamlessly. Unlike some devices that require additional registrations, you don’t need a Google TV account to use this projector, although having one can offer additional options for streaming.
The Mini EF22 comes preloaded with two of the most popular streaming apps: Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. While these two apps cover a wide range of entertainment needs, you will need an external device such as a Firestick, Roku, or Chromecast if you wish to access other apps or services. This limitation might be a downside for some, but it wasn’t a significant issue for us since we primarily use these two platforms.
Picture Quality
The image quality is where this projector truly shines in specific conditions. With 1000 lumens, it performs excellently in a dark room, delivering crisp and vibrant visuals. Watching movies, shows, or even family photo slideshows feels immersive and satisfying. However, the brightness is not adequate for rooms with moderate to bright lighting. For instance, if there is ambient light in the room, the picture becomes less distinct, and using it in fully daylighted settings is not practical.
We mainly use the projector at night or in controlled lighting environments, and it works like a charm. This limitation of brightness is expected from compact projectors in this price range, so it wasn’t a dealbreaker for us.
Sound Quality
Another standout feature is the sound quality. The Mini EF22 is equipped with surprisingly powerful inbuilt speakers that produce clear and well-balanced audio. It eliminates the need for additional sound systems unless you are aiming for a full home-theater experience. For casual movie nights or binge-watching sessions, the default sound output is more than sufficient.
However, if you want a cinematic experience with surround sound, you can always connect external speakers. For our regular use, we found the built-in audio capabilities to be more than satisfactory, especially considering the size of the device.
Ease of Use and Features
One of the most convenient features of this projector is its auto-adjustment technology. The device automatically aligns the image on the screen, removing the hassle of manually adjusting the lens. This is a game-changer for people who are new to projectors or prefer plug-and-play devices.
That said, the auto-alignment feature isn’t entirely perfect. While it adjusts the image correctly 99% of the time, there are occasional slight misalignments that can be a little frustrating. I tried repositioning the projector several times to fix these issues, but it still wasn’t 100% accurate. Fortunately, this minor flaw doesn’t impact the overall viewing experience much, so it wasn’t a major concern for us.
Design and Portability
The compact and lightweight design of the Mini EF22 makes it easy to move from one room to another. This portability is especially useful for families who like to switch between using the projector in the living room, bedroom, or even outdoors for a cozy movie night. Its modern and minimalistic design blends well with any decor.
However, one noticeable drawback is its lack of mounting options. Unlike traditional projectors that can be ceiling-mounted for a theater-like setup, the Mini EF22 is designed to sit on a flat surface, such as a table or the floor. This might limit its use for those who are looking to create a permanent home-theater environment. In our case, we found a suitable spot on a table that worked just fine, but it’s worth considering this limitation before purchasing.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Simple Setup: Easy plug-and-play setup with no technical expertise required.
Preloaded Apps: Comes with Amazon Prime Video and Netflix built-in.
Picture Quality in Dark Rooms: The 1000 lumens output provides excellent clarity in dark environments.
Good Sound Quality: Built-in speakers deliver strong, clear audio without needing external sound systems.
Auto-Adjustment Feature: Automatically adjusts the image alignment, making it user-friendly.
Portable Design: Compact size and lightweight build make it easy to move around the house.
Cons:
Brightness Limitations: Not suitable for well-lit or daylighted rooms.
Occasional Misalignments: The auto-adjustment isn’t always 100% accurate.
No Ceiling Mounting Option: Designed for floor or table placement only.

I've owned several Epson projectors and my main use was for business presentations and training but now I need to re-evaluate how I use one with the newest mini from Epson.
Pros:
The laser projector pushes out a high quality picture up to huge 150” size. The picture delivery technology designed into the projector that assists in focus, resizing and keystone correction making it quick for quick out of the bag setup.
Sound from the projector is in a class by itself. With Dolby Atmos the output to the internal speakers is more than adequate for almost any room but if you need to push more there is an 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones or external speakers.
Incredibly it also comes with Google TV that provides access to thousands streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, etc. After setup of Google TV you can choose to load and initialize your favorite streaming app. If that doesn’t fit your needs then a HDMI port on the back allows for input from a laptop, Chromecast, Ruku or gaming console.
Smaller than most with tilt and swivel base. Tripod threaded screw hole in bottom of the base adding flexibility of setup. At Halloween I rear project some cool front door animation in vertical mode so the tripod mount makes it much easier. I can officially retire my bungy cord setup that I had for my previous projector.
Available in 5 colors
What could have been better:
Wifi setup was a bit of a struggle for me. Maybe it was an issue with my router but I had to attempt several times before it would connect. Wifi is required to complete setup, at least what I remember. An opt out of Wifi would have been nice, especially if you plan on using it as a traditional projector with HDMI input. It may be there but I struggled for about 30 minutes to get from box the screen.
Cons:
Swivel base is not detachable makes finding a suitable aftermarket case for transport and/or storage. Initially nothing from Epson but see recently added travel case for just under $50. I ended up with a medium sized soft-sided cooler bag for mine. I prefer hardcases but nothing I could find would allow the projector to fit.
All in all this is amazing! I can't wait to push this projector to the limit!
