Customers are delighted by the EpiqVision Ultra LS300's impressive picture quality, ease of use, and convenient short throw capabilities. Many appreciate its brightness, even in daylight conditions, and the straightforward setup process. However, some users have noted concerns regarding fan noise and the durability of the HDMI ports. The projector's size may also be a factor for some consumers.

I honestly love this projector, it is virtually everything I wanted in a projector. I would love to say that this projector is just awesome, and leave it at that, but there is too much to be said about it. After all it is a reasonably priced laser projector. With the different kinds of projectors (DLP, LCD and LCOS), laser projectors seem to be the way of the future with their advantages; no bulbs, lower power consumption, lower heat, quieter, excellent brightness, contrast and picture definition.
This projector is designed to be used anywhere in or out of your house. All you need is a light colored wall, obviously the whiter the better, but it will still work on darker backgrounds too( just not as good). It's best to use a flat surface, because the image is projected from directly below, bumpy surfaces will cause shadows or gaps in your view.
This is not designed for ceiling mounting at all, as there is no inversion feature, nor any mounts on the unit.
The projector is intended to be placed on your TV table with the rest of your media devices, creating a large wireless image on the wall or screen.
While the projector does a lot on it's own, some settings and features are still manual. The keystoning feature and focus are both manual. The focus lever can be easily accessed by popping off the cover near the power button. There are several things to pay attention to, when picking the right location for your projector and then focusing the image. The image on the wall should be automatically squared off if your projector is level, and facing the wall at a right angle.
if not, then you might notice a wider edge on the bottom of the screen, and a more narrow edge on the top. The two feet on the bottom, back of the device are adjustable. There is only one leg in the front middle. This makes it easier to adjust the skew of the screen, by raising or lowering the back feet.
If you are noticing blurry portions in the display, while the rest of the image is in focus, then that might be due to a warped screen. The partial blur is usually caused by portions of the screen being at different distances from the projector than expected.
Now, if you have leveled, lined up and squared off your projector the best you can, and the image still looks skewed, then you will have to access the manual keystoning feature. There is actually a button on the remote for quick access to that setting.
Now, if after several different attempts at trying to adjust the keystoning you feel you are too far gone to make everything square again, you can reset the keystone values back to default with two options. First option is to manually push all of the corner points out to the max distance (in the screen adjustment setting), this will square everything off again. The second, is a little more drastic, and that is to reset the projector back to default settings. This will erase all of your data and settings, but if you are still interested this can be found in the Android TV device settings. This settings option is different from the one on the remote, it is located from the top right corner of the actual home screen.
The unit only needs to be placed about a foot from the wall or screen thanks to the ultra short throw laser array. This is a huge advantage for several reasons, a few being that , with this sitting directly in front of the medium, no one will be throwing shadows on your movie, or be blinded while entering the room, like with a traditional projector that sits at the back of the room, opposite the screen. You will also not need to count out the feet in distance from the screen, to make sure you have enough room for an 80inch or 120inch image. The LS300 can create a 120inch viewing image at 15.2inches from the screen.
When the laser is active, it emits a stream of intense blue light. The light is split with a phosphorus wheel and refracted along several mirrors to reach 3 LCD chips. The three chips produce red, green, and blue images. This is where the images converge, creating a full colored image. The laser offers a lower power yet more intense light source over traditional projector bulbs. Because the laser uses less power at normal modes, the projector itself is actually pretty quiet with virtually no fan noise. Although as you increase the brightness, the fan does kick on.
Epson estimates the laser lifespan to be about 20,000 to 30,000 hours, depending on how bright the settings are on the device. Tech support says the projector could easily last 30,000 hours at normal to lower brightnesses, and 20,000 hours at max brightness and contrast( even though the website says 20,000 for normal operation) Once the light source goes out, there really isn't much of an option, except to start looking for a new projector, but by that time you would probably want the latest technology anyway. The laser can not be replaced like traditional projector bulbs. In contrast traditional projector bulbs would only last between 1000 to 3000 hours before needing to be replaced. Most HDTVs have a life expectancy of 30,000 to 60,000 hours, they don't even last forever. If you use the projector between 4 to 6 hours a day, everyday, it would last between 14 to 20 years at normal operations.
The image quality, brightness and contrast are very nice with this projector. At 3600 lumens, I am easily able to watch the projected image with negligible image fade during the day, or even with all the room lights on. With a 1,5000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and full 10-bit color(up to 1.07 billion colors), everything looks fantastic. I am just simply amazed at just how well the picture quality is, and on a full size screen it really feels like you are in a movie theater. Especially when you incorporate the Yamaha 2.1 sound system that this projector comes with. Two full-range 5 W speakersand one 10 W subwoofer. All of the sounds are very loud and very clear, even the bass has a pretty good impact. I have always leaned towards intense bass outputs, so I might add an additional subwoofer later, but for all intensive purposes this is very acceptable. The projector also comes with a pre-installed radio app, so that you can listen to your favorite local live radio stations, or sync up with a bluetooth source to stream audio. The projector screen can be turned off, while still using the Yamaha speakers to listen to your audio.
Even though the projector accepts inputs up to 4K, the native resolution is 1080p @ 60hz. So, any larger image will be down sampled to meet the native resolution. This will still result in a higher quality image, if the 4k media is true 4k, and not interpolated 4k, although it will not be as high quality as a true 4k player. With the high contrast ratio, and High Dynamic Range color spectrum, everything still looks amazing. There are some manual display options to increase brightness, contrast, and color intensities, but the projector does have an automatic scene-based color correction process, which produces a clear and natural picture – regardless of the content being played, on its own. I projected the image onto several different backgrounds to see how well the projector would handle the different color backgrounds. It actually did pretty good, most colors were able to retain their original hues, and even some of the whites still seemed white. * ((check out the pictures))
The remote control has a voice control button. You can hold down the button and talk to access google assistant, search for media, or activate other features on the projector.
The projector itself is a bit on the larger side, but still doesn't look too big to place on your TV table. It weighs 15.9lbs, and has all its inputs on the part that will face the wall, so all you will see is the elegant side of the projector that makes it look just like a quality soundbar.
The LS300 works well with Chromecast and other screen share apps, including Samsung Smart Viewso you can either share your whole screen, or directly cast and control any media on your mobile devices. Casting was very easy and only took a second to activate.
The projector comes with Android TV as the OS.
Just as a side note, Android TV currently does not have the Netflix, or Amazon Prime Video app compatibility yet. They are working on including them soon, and Epson Tech support has said they believe Prime Video will be coming out in the next 1 or 2 updates. Android Tv does have most of the other popular streaming apps currently available.
But don't worry, you can still play both streaming services through your projector by plugging in either a Roku or FireStick into one of the HDMI ports. (problem solved)
Because this is a laser projector there really isn't much needed for maintenance, They do offer a replacement air filter, but most likely you will never need to replace it, unless you have it in an area of really poor air quality. Aside from that you can vacuum the device with a soft bristle vacuum attachment, and wipe the glass lens with a non ammonia electronics screen cleaner. That should be about it. NEVER use compressed air, or anything to blow air into any angle of the device, as this could result in pushing dust particles onto the mirrors or internal lenses, that could then permanently obstruct the visual quality of the projector.
Overall this projector is fantastic with it's picture quality and functions. There are a few minor things I would have liked, but for the price, where else can you get a Laser Projector of this quality? I am very pleased with what Epson has to offer here and excited to use this every chance I get, now I need to start looking for some movie theater lounges for my living room.

I’ve used a few traditional and even high-end bulb based (long-throw) projectors over the years, but nothing comes close to the quality of this Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 short throw laser technology projector. Even before unboxing it, you can tell it’s a fairly big and heavy unit, weighing nearly 17 lbs, but there is a good reason for that - this projector has a powerful Yamaha 2.1 sound system built-in. It easily fills a good size room with good quality, crisp, sound with a fullness that is much better than flat panel TVs and matches or exceeds your typical soundbar. The built-in speaker system can also double as a stand-alone bluetooth speaker system you can connect your smart phone to and stream music to, which is a nice feature.
My media room is not ready for production yet, so I had to settle for a ceiling and then the wall behind my current 65” flat panel TV for the initial setup and testing. An ALR projector fixed screen would be ideal, but for the time being, I’m just going to free up and repaint a wall. Even without a screen, this projector is impressively bright even in ambient light. You need about 2,500 lumens to project in daylight, and this Epson does 3,600, so that’s plenty. The initial setup was a bit quirky, but pretty straight forward if you’re patient. Pairing the basic remote control worked OK the first time, but after the projector downloaded a new firmware version and some security updates, it had to reboot, then it kept asking to pair the remote control again. Pressing the Home and Enter buttons didn’t do anything. It turns out, the remote was in fact still paired, so pressing the Back button made the pairing instruction go away. If you’re an Android user, once you’re on Wi-Fi you can login with your Google account and have an option to “synchronize” your apps, which will basically install all compatible apps from your Google Play account to the projector’s Android TV. Not all the streaming apps I care about were available. I was able to install HBO Max, Showtime and being a heavy OTA user, I was glad to see the Tablo and HD Homerun apps, but very disappointed Netflix and (Amazon) Prime Video were not available. For a true Home Theater sound experience, you can connect the projector’s Optical Audio out to a receiver/external speakers. Aside from the power cord, there are also 2 HDMI ports and a USB port on this unit. On the right side of the unit, there are five small square buttons - Power, Video off, Bluetooth pairing and volume +/-. Below the buttons there is a little removable cover that reveals a manual focus adjustment lever.
PROs:
* Image quality is top notch in 1080p with crazy 3,600 lumens brightness and 1,500,000:1 contrast
* Built-in sound quality is great coming out of the 2.1 Yamaha tuned speakers
* Ultra Short Throw Laser 3LCD allows you to place it inches to 2ft away from your wall/screen, so you no longer have to worry about anyone walking in front of it
* Large screen size up to 120”, no way you can get a 120” flat panel TV for $2k
* Smart TV like functionality facilitated by the built-in Android TV
* Google Assistant built-in for convenient voice searches
* Chromecast built-in so you can wirelessly broadcast content from your phone or tablet
* Safety - Motion sensor that automatically turns off the laser beam in case someone gets in the way
CONs:
* Popular streaming apps not supported, even though they are supported on other Android TV devices (could not find a way to install Netflix or Prime Video)
* The fans can get loud at the default 80% or higher brightness levels and it’s not even summer time here
* Buggy remote control pairing
* Price...unless you really need a TV larger than 75” and have the room for it, it’s hard to justify purchasing a high-end projector
*** taking one star off for the lack of popular apps support and buggy remote control

Vivid Image & Great Sound, but not Future Proof

I was hesitant to order this Epson Projector because the Best Buy website states that the “Minimum Projector DIstance” is 3.4 feet. Thankfully, this is NOT correct. The whole purpose of a short throw projector is that it can project a large image while sitting incredibly close to a wall / screen. If it had truly had to sit 3.4 feet away from a wall - it would not be classified as a short throw projector. To clarify, I have this projector sitting 6 inches away from my wall and it projects an 80 inch image.
The projector is incredibly easy to set-up and is simple enough that my 6 year old was navigating and watching his favorite shows just minutes after plugging it in. The device initially takes over 1 minute to turn on, but it typically sits in a standby mode and can be used in just 3 seconds after pressing the power button. Even without a legitimate ALR Projection Screen, the image quality is great. Even on a dark wall, whites look great and the image is quite vivid. Keep in mind however, the projector can accept a 4K image, but the output is 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. If you are hoping to game on the PS5 or Xbox Series X at 120 Hz - this projector will NOT be able to do so. See the attached Xbox Series X images for more compatibility information.
Not only is the image quality impressive (in both light & dark rooms) but the Yamaha 2.1 speaker system sounds great. The audio is rich and full with deep bass while - keeping dialogue clear. While the projector is designed to be used as a Bluetooth Speaker, this mode does not work well at all. It is surprisingly difficult to pair via Bluetooth and after about 4 minutes the connection fails. Once the connection drops, the remote control (which connects via bluetooth) is no longer paired and the projector must be unplugged and fully rebooted before it can be used again.
Overall, I am impressed with the projector’s short throw capabilities, but it does have other limitations that are frustrating for a device that is the very latest model.
1) The projector is not compatible with either Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Netflix is the most popular video streaming app - so not having the ability to use its app is extremely disappointing.
2) The projector has 2 HDMI inputs, but neither of them are the latest HDMI 2.1. This means that it cannot process 4K at 120 Hz, or accept an 8K image. This makes me feel as though Epson dropped the ball with their latest projector models and is releasing new devices that are already a bit aged.
3) There are no navigation buttons on the projector. If you lose the remote, or if it stops working (due to the bluetooth issues mentioned above), you are not able to control anything other than the volume, the dimming option, or powering off the device.
4) There is no built in option to tilt the projector upwards. Strangely the projector only has 3 feet (two in the rear and one up front). Often the front foot on a projector has the option to raise and lower - to adjust where the image is displayed. But, that is not the case here. Just set the projector down and hope the image is displayed where you want it.
Note: There are menu options that allow you to adjust the screen size and edge shape.
If you are interested in true 4K (and want a device that will work well with 8K in the future), this projector is not for you. If you want to play PS5 or Xbox Series X at 120 frames per second, then pass on this projector.
BUT, if you want a convenient projector that displays an impressively clear image (in light and dark rooms) and includes impressive audio - this is a good choice.

I am not the most technologically inclined guy. I don’t need the biggest and the best and newest, but then the Epson LS300 projector entered my life. It was intimidating at first. The box was large, and the projector much larger than a game console. I thought I’d need a massive wall just to watch anything with it despite being assured it had a “short throw.” Man, if this isn’t the best video system I’ve ever used! I’ve always been hesitant to try new or advanced technology, but this wasn’t intimidating at all. Setup was simple. From hooking up cables to finding just the right angle and focus, it took roughly five minutes.
Everything worked smoothly and the short throw (which works great just a foot from the wall) means I have the perfect, high-definition screen without glare or other complications from my old 3D-ready 55 inch flatscreen. The sound throw for the built-in Yamaha speakers is great. The Sony PlayStation always had sound issues on other screens, but the Epson’s speakers more than make up for any weird variations in level. Did I mention the lack of glare? It doesn’t matter where in the room you are seated, there is no weird light spill or distortion to contend with.
I give talks at conventions regularly, and have worked with other projectors in a professional setting, and unlike so many that need a dark room or large screen to function properly, this model worked great on my bare wall. Full daylight or dark room the picture is perfectly clear.
Yeah, I’m going to recommend this to others!

The absolute Best Choice for Laser picture Quality, bright clarity and sound. Super easy to operate and interfaces with all forms of your media technology; small compact unit that sits right up front on floor or small table stand, so no need for it to be far away from wall or screen (short throw). I was a bit surprised by the size of the unit. I hadn't seen it first had in person. But I am blown away by the quality of both the picture and the sound. Setup was pretty straightforward. Even though this is an android TV, I was easily able to get setup and synced up to my Google account using my iOS-based device.
Once the unit was connected to my home wifi, it went through a couple of updates and then had me connect my Google account. I have an android TV from another manufacturer connected to the same account so once my account was linked to this device, it suggested downloads of the same apps I use on my other android TV which made the setup that much easier.
I'm intending on using this unit for family movie nights, but I quickly set it up in a room that we just freshly painted. I was able to place the projector about 3" from the wall and ended up with what looked like a 60" display and then moved it to another wall, about 6" away, and got to what I measured as a 100" display. The picture is really good quality, better than I expected, and the sound is exceptional from the built-in Yamaha sound system. I've provided some shots of the streaming video quality in the pictures below.

I recently had the pleasure of upgrading my home entertainment system with the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 Smart Streaming Laser Short Throw Projector, and I can confidently say that it has exceeded all my expectations. This projector delivers a 5-star experience in every aspect, from its impressive features to its exceptional performance.
The LS300's 3600 lumens brightness capability is truly remarkable. It produces vibrant and sharp visuals that breathe life into every frame. The support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) ensures that colors are rich and vivid, with excellent contrast and remarkable detail. Whether I'm watching movies, TV shows, or sporting events, the LS300 provides a breathtakingly immersive viewing experience.
One of the standout features of the LS300 is its short-throw capability. It can project large, cinema-like images from a close distance, eliminating the need for a dedicated home theater room. Setting it up in my living room was a breeze, and I was amazed at the enormous screen size I could enjoy without compromising on image quality.
The integrated Android TV functionality is a game-changer. With a wide range of streaming apps readily available, including popular services like Netflix and YouTube, I have an endless selection of content at my fingertips. The user interface is intuitive, and the added convenience of Google Assistant voice control makes navigation effortless.
As a sports enthusiast, the LS300's performance during sporting events is unparalleled. The projector handles fast-paced action with utmost precision, providing smooth motion and incredible clarity. It truly feels like I'm right in the midst of the game, capturing every thrilling moment in exceptional detail.

The Epson EpiqVision LS300 Laser projector is an excellent TV replacement. This ultra short throw projector does project a very large bright image at just 10 inches from the screen. The sound from the built in speakers is very good for a projector and I am satisfied with the full range of sound that this projector provides.
Best Buy has a 15% restocking fee for this projector so please note that if you are uncertain that this projector will work for you. The only negative that I can say is the fan noise may be a deal breaker for some people sensitive to the fan noise but for me it is not too bad since my room is quite large. The color accuracy is the best that I have ever seen in a projector at this price. It is perfect in my opinion and the contrast level is excellent and the best I have seen in a projector of this price range. I am satisfied with this purchase and would recommend this projector as a TV replacement and home theater system.

I was so glad that I was asked to be a beta tester for the LS300W projector. I had no idea about projectors, other than they show a picture on a wall and are cumbersome. Anything but!!! I grabbed my husband Ben to open the box. We took it out of the box, so surprised that the projector was compact and cool. Now the excitement really began to grow. We took out the instructions and had fun sorting through all the different languages on the pamphlets. We found a place to try it out, plugged it in....and like magic we had music and a picture. Where was that picture you ask? Well, it was on the ceiling. We checked the pamphlet for guidance and couldn’t figure out what we did wrong. We went with it and completed more steps. When we got to the applications, we found YouTube and played a video. The picture was still on the ceiling. Mind you, we have now moved it 4 times before we tried it outside. Anyway...we played the video, heard the music AND the Epson default. We called it a night and contacted Epson after the weekend.
Day 2 I called Epson and spoke with Victor, who was so kind to inform us that we needed to put the projector about a foot and a half from the wall/screen. Then I asked “which way to face the speaker” and he clarified that the speaker faces the “audience”. We finally got it - the FANTASTIC-BRIGHT-COLORFUL-HUGE picture on the wall and NOT on the ceiling! So cool! Thank you Victor. We thought we were all set up and ready to go, until we realized that we still had the dual sound. We called back and got Christopher. He was wonderful. He explained that we had not completed the setup. By the third step he had helped my daughter and I through the process and what we had missed. Finally, we were able to enjoy a video with amazing sound quality and an awesome easy-to-use remote that even my parents can use.
Our overall assessment of the LS300W is 10 out 10! However, Epson setup instructions are 7.5 out of 10. Reasons are where the projector is placed and the troubleshooting guide didn’t answer our question for sound and picture. Both picture and sound, after finishing the setup are both 10 out of 10. The best part of the process was the Epson customer service, including Donald, our brand rep. We are looking forward to football season, GO CHIEFS and our first outdoor movie with friends and family. “This is a review for the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 Smart Streaming Laser projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

My first projector. Super easy setup. High quality image and great value when on sale. Make sure to get an ALR/CLR (ambient light/ceiling reflect) screen for an ultra short throw projector to maximize your viewing

The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 is nothing short of amazing. Clear images, big sound, easy controls - it's all great. I watch YouTube, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Movies regularly. I also connected by BlueRay Player and Apple TV, so I can watch any media or streaming service I want. I don't use a screen, I just project to my wall and it still looks great.
The two compaints I have are the fan noise and number of HDMI ports. The fan noise is a bit loud - I don't notice it much when watching an action movie, but when watching drama or youtube vlogs, the fan noise can be noticeable. Still, it's not too bad, and when I use the unit as a speaker and turn off the projection, the fan is instantaneously turned off so overall not too bad.
The unit has 2 HDMI ports, but I use 3 devices, so sometimes I have to unplug and replug the cables. Not the best situation, but not a deal breaker at all. Overall, excellent ultra short-through projector. I would buy it again.

The picture on this is superb. Rich and bright, especially when compared to the old one I had to have project across the room. It’s also very quiet, which is nice. It has some decent smart features, but nothing that would tempt me away from my AppleTV. Only drawback I can see is the size. It’s big!

I also own the VAVA projector so... here's the deal: Both are great. The short throw laser technology is unbelievable. This is the way that movies are meant to be seen. If you get the screen, the movie looks exactly the way it does in the theater... with the matte color as it was meant to be, without the glossy 'finish' that a television creates.
Why get one of these? I saw the Wizard of Oz, the first time, on a black and white, 19 inch television. We bought the short throw projectors, and watched it again on the 120 inch screen we bought to project on. Now, I know why the Wizard of Oz was so groundbreaking. The detail, the color... it's hard to imagine that 80 years ago, this movie was possible. We're watching all the old classics that we were first introduced to on TV, and the experience goes from family den quality to epic cinematic. The concept of classic cinematic history is alive again! For recent films, the Harry Potter series looked gorgeous. We're never going back to the movie theater again to fight for a seat. This technology... is 'the movie theater experience' at home. Do it.
AS for the difference between the VAVA and the Epson? Picture wise, not much. However: (important) Epson's Smart TV style google android user interface is superior to VAVA's interface - which tries to be a 'smart TV' but fails by using their own non-android interface. We bought the VAVA 6 months ago, and ended up having to attach a laptop to it to stream movies, which was a hassle. Once the Epson connected to the internet wirelessly, no other devices were needed to browse apps and streaming services. Maybe that has changed in the last six months, but if it hasn't, stick with the Epson.
