Loce this little scanner and perfect for what i need it for

Love it...A little bit difficult to install once I got it working I LOVE IT!!!

I love everything about it. It's compact and does just what I need it to.

The Epson Workforce ES-55R is a great scanner with a few small drawbacks but nothing that doesn't stop it from being a winner. Installation took less than 3 minutes and was instantly recognized by my computer. The software that comes with the scanner works great and has alot of functionality to it. The receipt manager is fantastic for being able to get rid of old receipts. The fact that you can save the info with the receipt in such detail is amazing for accounting purposes! I love that the unit is self powered by my computer but I do wish it was USB-C. Due to me using a macbook pro with USB-C only I have to use an adapter to get this to work on my laptop. Also the only small caveat with the unit is it doesn't do more than one piece of paper at a time. You can make the unit continuously feed so you can feed it paper but it can't handle like a 3 paper stack and scan all three one by one. That is probably due to it being a small and portable unit, which again isn't a deal breaker because the scanner is so quick! I loved the fact that I could literally just feed it receipts and it'll separate them all one by one and allow me to get rid of envelopes upon envelopes of receipts. All in all I am very happy with this scanner, it is exactly what I was looking for. I am a realtor and a photographer so this will serve as a great tool going forward for being able to scan documents on the spot!

As a legal professional in a world where we store most all documents electronically, a good scanner is essential. I also find it convenient to have a small compact scanner that I can take with me when going to meetings where signatures need to be obtained and those pages emailed. I also like to scan business cards (because I lose them). This scanner fits the bill and is a great travel companion and it's small enough to keep on my desk to scan documents when I need to without leaving my desk (in lieu of big copy/scan machine). But the one page feed holds it back, but that's the price you pay for having such a compact scanner. The other thing that holds it back is its clunky software. PROS - compact size, travel friendly - powered by USB, no AC cable needed - great quality, both color and black and white - handles a variety of documents with ease, from business cards to 8.5 X 11 - fast CONS - One page feed a time - Clunky software, bloatware Setup was relatively easy. It truly is plug and play. But my computer didn't recognize the drivers, so I had to go to the Epson website to download them (no big deal). The download was simple. After my initial setup, it worked well. I would slide a paper in, the scanner would "bite" it (for lack of a better word), engaging the paper. You hit the scan button, and voila. It pops up on your screen and from there you can decide to save it to a folder, upload it directly to the cloud or attach it to an email. I scanned everything besides a photo and was impressed with the quality. I don't really get into PPIs or things like that, I just knew Epson was a quality brand and it delivered. My software issues came up after closing the program. I generally scan things and save them to a network folder, then email from there as needed. In a perfect world, I could just keep the scanner plugged in, put my document in, push the button and then a menu would pop up asking me where I want to save it. But that didn't happen. I could not for the life of me get the one button scan function to work. When I opened the program, I could see my device, but it wouldn't connect and allow me to scan. I found the only way it work was to unplug the USB and plug it back in. Now when traveling or if you store the scanner out of sight until it's needed (which is probably what most people do) that's obviously no big deal. But leaving it plugged in was an issue for me. Not sure if software or user error or my computer. Either way, it was a minor hiccup. Since I have this primarily for traveling, it wasn't a huge deal breaker. The other drawback, which could be a dealbreaker, is the one page scan at a time. Obviously, if you are scanning one document here and there, it's no big deal. But scanning even a 6 page letter is a bit tedious. Yes, it scans particularly fast, but that's one page at a time. Again, this isn't a dealbreaker for me, as when I'm using it on my travels I'm not scanning massive documents. But it's something to take note when purchasing a scanner for your needs. CONCLUSION All in all, this is a great little scanner. Some sacrifices had to be made to keep the small size factor, but to me it's worth the trade off. I just wish the software/computer interface works better. (and again, it could very well be user error or how my computer is setup). And most importantly, the quality is fantastic. NOTE: I don't use the Quicken functionality where you can scan receipts directly into Quicken or an accounting program. I simply don't use them. But I can definitely see the benefits of this feature. Again, the compact size was the ultimate factor for me in using this portable scanner versus others.

Exactly what I was looking for in a receipt scanner

It's incredible that a scanner about the size of a ruler can produce such an amazing scan output. This is ultra portable and does a great job. I went out to Epson's website and downloaded the software and it is simple and very straight forward. Make sure to allow it to update the scanner, as there is a firmware update available immediately. The software will show the scan results and then allow you to save it to a folder of your choice. I love that it defaults to a PDF format, as that's the most common format to save such files. I have only used it to scan bills, but it looks great. The version I have requires a USB connection. If you want the wireless version, look at the ES-65WR. I am fine with something this portable using a USB connection. This will easily go with my Surface Pro 6 in my backpack and won't take up hardly any room. I can now scan on the go. Great product, Epson! As always, the quality is very good and simple to use. This is a single document feed, so not handy for scanning in a book or a packet. But, for most purposes, it will work great. I have tried smaller cards and it works great by lining it up with the left side of the scanner.

This Epson ES-55R Document Scanner is portable and easy to setup. It is light weight and is powered by the USB connection, no battery or external power. It comes with the accounting software which is easy to setup and it lets you store and manage the data. There is no subscription fee for the software. The OCR feature of the software lets you create searchable PDFs. It extracts key data from the invoices and receipts. The scanner can also be used with other third party applications like QuickBooks and Excel. The scanner detects any document or receipt when you insert it and as it grabs it, you can start the scan by simply clicking a button on the device. This scanning is very fast and comes handy when you want to scan receipts before losing them. I would definitely recommend this for small business usage as well as home office users when you need to scan something as small as a business card or an ID or documents up to 8.5" x 72".

If you travel frequently, the Epson Workforce ES-55R is the scanner to take along with you. I found it easy to setup, easy to use, and extremely portable. Loading receipts was very simple no matter how long they were, which for me is invaluable. I tend to carry those receipts when I am traveling on business. I cannot count how many times I have lost important ones and either did not get a reimbursement or had to fill out a lot of paper work. This is a lifesaver for travelers, or at least it saves you from a lot of headaches. Not having to carry heavy power supplies makes it the perfect companion. Because it draws power from USB, you just connect it to your laptop. The only thing that I ended up missing was the fact that it is not wireless and that I could not use it with my phone. Yes, I know there are phone apps out there that can do this but do not expect the quality that this scanner provides. Believe me. I have tried them but they have been of very limited use and frustration. This scanner just delivers quality results every single time. Not only that, the software does a great job organizing my receipts and you can store them wherever you want. My choice is OneDrive since I can access it at home, at the office and from any device, including my phone. Although I have a bigger all-in-one printer that can scan very well, I see myself using this Epson on my desk all the time because it is a lot more practical, especially if you have just a few documents. It also makes scanning receipts a lot easier. Besides, it is very fast. By the time I would have walked to the printer, set up the document, pressed the button to scan, checked on my computer, the Workforce ES-55R would have done the work 3 times or more without moving away from my desk. No waste of time. Maybe I am not being fair. My 4-star rating is just because it is not wireless but they have another model with that capability.If that is not an issue for you, I would rate it 5 stars because I could not find any thing else I did not like about it.

Since I had never seen in person or experienced the Epson WorkForce ES-55R Portable Document Scanner firsthand until the day I received it in the mail, I really didn’t know what to expect. The packaging it arrived in was protective yet easy to open. I was glad to see that it didn’t come with a bunch of cords and connections that would get in the way and drive me nuts. It came only with a simple USB cable to connect the scanner to your PC. Setup was super easy for me and I consider myself an intermediate user with basic computer knowledge. I am definitely not an expert or computer genius but not a beginner or novice user, either. Be sure to download and install the ES-55R Drivers and Utilities Combo software package (found at www.epson.com/support/es55r) before connecting the USB cable. The software is super easy to download and you will just need to follow any prompts and on-screen instructions. I didn’t have any issues at all. When it asks you to scan your first image, document, etc., you will realize just how simple this scanner is going to work for your needs. Oh, and I love the Nuance Power PDF software that is included. It makes it super easy to create searchable PDF’s which will be a huge convenience and time saver for me. Although I haven’t had the time to fully try out all of the features that this tiny, lightweight, portable scanner can do to make my life and daily operations easier, I can already tell that I am going to love this device. It has already impressed me more than the other bulkier scanners I have used in the past. The only downfall I have noticed is that if you are needing to scan a double-sided document, you will manually have to flip it over to scan the other side. However, that isn’t a big deal for me as most of the pages I scan are only single-sided. My first impression of this scanner was a little surprised at just how compact this device is, I was worried it would get jammed a lot but I have yet to run across that problem. (Although I've only had the product a few days.) It was very easy to set up and came with all the software needed to organize all of your data. The scanner is less than a foot long and weighs less than 3 lb. Included in the box is the device itself, a USB cable, the nuance software, a cleaning sheet and a calibration sheet. This item is perfect for scanning receipts, business cards and various other documents then turning them into editable files and searchable PDFs. The nuance software included is perfect for helping you organize all your data and it is so easy to set up. It has step-by-step instructions as well as an online owner's manual. So far I am finding this very useful as I save my receipts for a tax break at the end of the year. My favorite part about this device is that you can export your data to several different applications such as QuickBooks Dropbox Excel and even Google Drive. If you are scanning receipts it pulls the data from your receipt and directs it to Nuance. I love this portable scanner! It fits in my backpack and is super light! It scans very fast and gets is power from the computer it's plugged into so no extra power cord! It's great to digitize your old pictures and to save receipts! The only downside is that you have to be really careful at how you place the item being scanned into the scanner. It doesn't take much at all to go askew. But just rescan! It's super fast!

OK, maybe not...but... it is a huge time saver!!! Fits anywhere on my desk, slips into a drawer easily when not in use, takes an excellent scan, and I just love it! We use it now for all tax deduction receipts (you know, those pesky little things that get lost easily)and other receipts, and we use it for our small business scanning. We have not tried a photo yet so I cannot attest to that.

This is is a great portable scanner, product is very lightweight, fast and very portable. This product is very light and portable you can easily move this scanner around or take to another room with great portability. The setup is very easy and scanning is very fast, I love that I have a double sided option as it saves paper. The receipts and document come out very crisp and fine looking. The scanner has a very sleek and modern appeal. Ot was very easy to download the program and took a acceptable amount of time, had no issues with scanning documents, with the press of a scan button you are on you way to printing small or letter size papers. This product comes with a USB cord which is a bit short due to the placement of the port, the scanner needs to be positioned on the left side of your computer. I love scans can be saved in variety of ways and takes up very little space. The smallest scanner I have ever owned that worked perfectly. Completely user friendly with super easy installation. Lightweight with a fast scanning system that scans within 6 seconds. Perfect for organizing any documents you might have. Great features like sending files as pdf or sharing via email. Great benefits like being Eco friendly and Energy star qualified. Compatible with most operating systems also built with a Hi-speed USB for connectivity. Documents are very clear and programs are extremely easy to understand. This is great for capturing receipts, getting them into a multitude of financial programs. Great scanner and very portable and compact. Extremely lightweight and truly easy to use and scanner quality is very very good for so compact a unit. The included downloadable software is the real bonus and just us a pleasure to use and to catalogue your scans.

I was shocked at the amount of use and efficiency that this Epson Portable Scanner gives me. I never have to come home and scan all my receipts anymore, I don’t have tons of paper lying around and it’s totally eliminated my need for file cabinets. You can literally throw this in your backpack or bag and your good to go! Holds a long charge, can be backed up Wirelessly and is very efficient and very fast!

I got this scanner intending to use it to build a database of receipts to help with taxes, expense reports and warranties. I found it to be a great little scanner for every day use as well. While I have been building a receipt database I find myself scanning letters and photos more than the receipts. This scanner seems to scan and write much faster than my printer/scanner combo making it much quicker and thus convenient for all of my scans that don't require a feeder. All of my scans have come out perfect unlike the portable scanner I had a few years back that tended to not scan straight and left blurry spots. My intent was to leave this on my desk and periodically scan receipts but I keep it in my briefcase and find that I am using it often. My only negative comments about this scanner have to do with the software. One of the programs repeatedly created an installation error on the computer I had intended to use it with. Epson replied to my e-mail with instructions to correct the problem promptly but I had already installed it on the laptop that I carry around daily with no issues. My other negative is that it would be nice to have some more documentation/description about the several pieces of included software. I am very happy with this scanner and have found it much more useful than anticipated.
