While not as cheap their ink prices were always reasonable. The starter ink in this went quick and after spending the money to get replacement ink the printer isn’t working properly and doing the maintenance on it has yielded no results and used up most of the new ink. Which is ridiculous to go through ink that quick. Epson support is a joke too. It’s an app and a FAQ so if you hit a wall good luck getting a hold go someone to help. Avoid this garbage/money pit.

Ink hog

Epson customer service not helpful at all. Bought a new cartridge printed again and the other 4 cartridges ran out. Price was good for printer but have spent more on ink. Do not waste your money

2 Hour Setup-Drops Network Connection-Eats Ink

I have owned most brands. Is my First Epson. I Bought a printer for occasional business use at my vacation home. EXTREMELY Difficult & TIME consuming to setup, Your lucky it connects to your network at All. If you lose power to unit, it will Never re-connect to network. Direct connection plug jack to connect to computer is "locked" behind a door screwed closed, complicating access.(Dumb) Bough ALL New cartridges. Used 2 weeks. $18 at Walmart or Best Buy - Printed 25-30 pages Black and Black ink EMPTY. Unplugged to move and Still can't connect to printer on network. Had to go back to my 5 year old slow HP printer. WORST Printer I have ever owned This Epson unit is GARBAGE

Annoyed

The first time I bought the unit, I had paper jamming problem and then the nightmare, lines began to print on the paper and it wasn’t even the ink issue. I ended up returning in back in exchange for the same printer but nevertheless I had another ink problem, 5 days in, ink gone . I never used it again. It’s just there. The ink is just not enough. I hope I could get free ink from my review, that’s if anyone cares how frustrating this is. Isolating and no ink. Ahhh

Epson printer sucks

My printer was behaving poorly so I clicked on update software and then it wouldn’t use the ink I had- because it wasn’t official Epson ink. Customer service at epson was crap! Once I changed ink to official (“expensive”) ink the original problems I had with the printer persisted It’s garbage! Too many better options out there - I went back to my old brother printer (also purchased at Best Buy) and it serves my very basic needs without fuss! Don’t buy epson anything! Ever!

FADED AND SPOTTY PRINTING

This is a junk printer

I only printed black-white pages but it still required to replace the color ones. The ink cartridges are so expensive and this is certainly a waste of money. Do not buy it.

Your Expression printer contains a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors for normal operation. A small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged, even when you're printing black text only. This prevents air bubbles from entering and damaging the print head itself. Epson provides detailed instructions in the User's Guide on printing temporarily with black ink when a color ink cartridge has been expended. Too much ink demand

Do not buy

I couldn't return it due to covid-19 store closures and I needed it for my children's school projects real disappointment. What ever ink they are using is crap I've even ran scans did alignments everything still light grey barely could see certain words just horrible so, I bought a cannon all in one from target works great!! Same price. I'm still waiting for best buy to open.

Not a great printer

dont waste

Not a good business printer

Also it printed ridiculously slow. Just overall is not a great buy if you’re looking to use it as an office printer, whether in home or not.

Not worth the headache!

But 25 pages in the black ink ran out (turns out that's all you should expect with a complimentary cartridge), so we got an Epson black ink cartridge and worked fine for a while. Didn't print anything in color but all the color cartridges are now out of ink and we can't print in grayscale anymore despite having changed the printer settings as described here https://epson.com/faq/SPT_C11CG33201~faq-00007e5-xp4100_4105?faq_cat=faq-8796127373388. What a waste of money and time and effort! One of the worst printers we have owned so far.
