Had to replace my old wireless printer. This was the best decision I made for a replacement. Easy setup, only takes a matter of minutes to have it up and running. Print quality is top notch.

Originally when I was looking for a new printer, I was thinking of going with a Brother brand, or a Canon. The size was not to big, and the cost was very respectable. When I got it home the instructions where easy, and the setting up was not a headache. Do follow the instructions if you have multiple networks! It prints via WIFI from a decent distance, and it's great print quality, and it updates itself, and uses ink well.

This is an experiment for me. TheXP-4200 All-in One Inkjet may be what I am looking for. I have been using one that a friend of mine owns. It is simple; directions are "direct! She has had this printer for 5 months - whereas I keep running to the Library to print. But now I run to her home. More convenient; the printer is responsive; no problems. Anyway, the Epson XP-4200 seems to be a good solution this time. My friend has had solid performance and lots of reliability. So, I am enjoying "her purchase." My budget has tightened, so this Epson can handle my current needs....out of time to purchase my own. Great discovery. And, its compact size is truly a relief for locating in my small spare bedroom among all my files and papers. Thank you A.E. Anthony

Nice printer with a good price. Easy to set up in minutes.

I've been without a printer at home for a decent amount of time, but going to the print shops when I do need to print can be inconvenient. For the average person (like myself) the Epson XP-4200 will get the job done. Set up was a little agitating, but not too hard. While the printer has a decent sized display, the display isn't touch screen. That would have helped out a lot more when entering my Wifi password. Still, this is only a minor annoyance as you only have to do it at initial setup. Had I properly followed the instructions, I would have noticed the mention of the app. Once the wifi is setup, you upgrade the firmware, and slide the edges of the paper loader out, you're ready to go! I had no problem connecting my devices to the printer after it was connected to the wifi. It easily popped up on set up. Printing quality is solid. I didn't get high quality paper, with regular paper (which most people will be using) it was great. I've attached two images of prints from the print, one of a color test I got from the internet which turned out great, another of a photograph of my son I printed direclty from my phone via the app, which, considering I was using regular paper, turned out pretty solid for all the details of the picture. I copied another image of my birth certificate and the copy came out great as well. For the average day to day user, this printer is a great printer. I would have preferred touch screen LCD on the printer, but in all reality you're not going to be using the screen on the printer that often, most things can be done via the app, or the device you're printing from. Highly recommend this for the average consumer.

I'm thrilled with my new Epson printer purchased at Best Buy! The in-store experience was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, answering all my questions before I made my decision. Best Buy had the exact model I wanted in stock at a competitive price. Setting up the printer at home was a breeze thanks to Epson's clear instructions. The print quality is excellent for both documents and photos, and the wireless connectivity works flawlessly with all my devices. Overall, a fantastic printer and a great in-store experience with Best Buy. Highly recommend!

The Expression XP-4200 from Epson was a bit of a pleasant surprise (the printer looks really nice out of the box) and bit of a disappointment at the same time. As per disappointment, when I tried printing a photo OF THE PRINTER that I took (printed on regular inkjet paper), the colors were disappointing. I cannot say whether or not the output would have been better on "Epson Specialty Paper" because none of that was included in what I was shipped to evaluate it here with. I do know on other color printers I own (inkjet and laser, even from another Epson) the colors are definitely more vivid on standard paper. Before that, I was set up for disappointment as I followed through the installation procedure: First it prompts me to scan a QR code to download the printer's app, I follow through, but while the app can see my other Epson printer, it cannot see this one. It's worth noting at this point I had not yet been given the option to set up the printer on WiFi, so that may be why the app couldn't find the printer (but it's the one controlling the order of things). Next, the prompts on the screen for the initialization are poorly written, for example, it prompts with "Initialization Starts. Install the Ink Cartridge for Setup that came with the printer"-- and what got me there is that the words "Initialization Starts" do not sound like something meant for me (the end user) to read, but rather a step that the design folks were to follow. Next, I have to wait 6 minutes for the printer to initialize, and I'm wondering (1) every time I change the ink is it going to be 6 minutes, or (2) if not, instead could they have done some of the initialization at the factory? Then there is an information screen after the initialization which not only seems unnecessary, it seems -- I'll say, poorly worded: It says "Initialization complete. Move on to print quality adjustments"- and like the "Initialization Starts" screen the "Move on" (which seems rude) sounds like instructions for the programmer more so than something I should be reading-- it should just take me to print quality adjustments without having me "move on" by pressing ok. Finally, initialization completes, I'm at the main menu, and it *still* hasn't connected me to WiFi which one would've thought would be part of initialization. I was able to go to settings and set up WiFI, though, and it connected fine. Besides Photos, I tried out printing a PDF file and maybe I'm just used to laser quality but I thought the text looked relatively poor quality, it's not smooth. It does print text quickly which is nice (unlike photos which took many minutes a page), and it does print on both sides of the page (which will save you paper).

I bought for my daughters home work and it works great! I looked for a cheap small printer and this was a great find. I would recommend for small printing jobs, easy to assembly and work.

For a budget all-in-one, I'm really impressed with this printer. My last few printers have been higher end Epson photo AIOs and they have served me pretty well, but when my last one quit on me (after close to 10 years!), money was a little tight and I just needed the basics. I was skeptical of a printer costing less than half the price of my last 3, but I simply didn't need all the bells and whistles and I urgently needed to print stuff! I had this delivered same-day from my local store to save me a trip ($10 well spent for me!), and setup went MOSTLY smooth. I'll elaborate. I hate wireless connections for things that don't ever move and this is why. My previous printer used a wired ethernet connection which this printer does not have and I have long since lost a super-long USB cable I'd used with printers in the past, so I was stuck with Wi-fi for now. I got connected great and everything worked at first, but I kept losing connection. The answer is - don't turn the printer off. It goes into standby and stays connected, and since I quit turning it off, it has worked every time I've printed for the last couple weeks with no problems. The downside of this is that every time my power goes out (which happens every week or two around here), I expect the printer to stop working and I'm going to have to reconnect it to my Wi-fi. I'm not a fan of USB to be honest (wiggle it, it's broken, wiggle again, it's fixed), but I WILL be getting a long USB cable to keep the printer hard-wired. I think it IS possible to set up a static IP address and blah-blah-blah but who really wants to go down that rabbit hole? I don't have that kind of time. That is just stuff to keep IT people employed. For myself at home, I'd rather just buy a long cable. I don't really like the rear tray paper loading. It's going to sit there gathering dust and will pretty much require pulling the paper out if I want to put a dust cover on the printer (if you have a cat, you will understand...), but it works. Those are really my only complaints though. I seldom print photos these days, and while I used to print CDs/DVDs a lot, I don't feel the need to pay extra for a printer that will do that anymore. I haven't tried printing any photos with this printer, but from what I've seen, I think it would do a sufficient job with the 4 inks rather than the 6 that I'm used to. Quality of text printouts is excellent if you tweak the settings a little. I've been very pleased with the print quality overall. As long as it stays connected, this is a great little printer. If I find myself really NEEDING the features of a fancier printer, I'll upgrade and maybe move this one to my workshop, but it's doing everything I need it to do right now and for the price paid, I'm very happy with it. One kind of quirky thing that I actually really like - my old printer would automatically extend the output tray when I would print something. In my tight quarters in my house, this kind of got in the way. This printer requires you to pull the output tray out manually, so when I print, my pages just spit out onto the floor. That might be an issue for some, but I actually like it. No tray to push back in to keep my girlfriend from running into it when she walks by the printer! If I'm printing more than one page, I'll gladly pull out the tray to catch the sheets, but often I'm only printing a single page (recipes and lists!) and I actually don't mind picking it up off of the floor, due to our space constraints. I'm also really pleased to see automatic double sided printing in a printer at this price point. I can do without a lot of bells and whistles, but that is a required feature for me. I have not tried the scanner yet. I need a scanner about twice a year usually, but when I need it - I need it. I haven't seen a scanner that wouldn't do everything I need since the early 90's (does anyone remember greyscale or dithered monotone "hand scanners"? Yep, I used 'em), so I'm confident that it will serve my needs. As long as you can keep a reliable connection, this printer is excellent for every-day home use and I've been very pleased with the print quality. This is not meant for large documents or office use, but when you just need to occasionally print/scan a document or two, this thing is a clear winner. I paid the same price for printers years ago that wouldn't do half of what this printer does. It's a great home unit that will serve most people very well.
