Epson XP400 was a superior model

This model is inferior to the last Epson XP400 I had. It is set up differently and is not as efficient. The paper has to be inserted in a tray that pulls out. I expected a newer model to be an improvement. Overall, I am disappointed in this model.

This printer is replacing an HP All in one printer that gave a light show and sang to me but took forever to print. I don't want a show, I want it to work.
I then tried another HP but a higher model and it was defective right out of the box. HP has really lost it's way.
After decades of only buying HP I decided to try this Epson.
It is well made and seems to be a quality printer. It is super fast, starts printing almost right away and had 3 pages printed in the time it would have taken the HP to start.
Text quality is very good and I printed one photo on regular paper that looked fine, if less sharp than the older HP printers.
So why only 4 stars and not 5? Setting it up is a pain. It prints out FOUR alignment pages and each page has multiple items you need to choose from. Trying to figure out which image has less lines through it is not easy when your eyesight isn't great, plus multiple options didn't seem to have any lines through it, so which one to pick?
I shouldn't have to tell the printer whether it is aligned or not, it is truly obnoxious.
Fix that issue and Epson gets 5 stars. Make us go through all of that just to start printing, 4 stars.

Received the printer on June 4th. Already replaced black cartridge. Now all color cartridges show low and never print in color. Going to be expensive to operate in the long run. Home personal limited use. Should have researched the product more before purchase.

It works well per capabilities of the printer. I kind of with I would have purchased a model with a tray, so scanning multiple docs would have been easier.

Decent quality printer with a very invasive Ink monitoring system. The included color inks lasted all of 2 sparsely printed pictures.
If you use it a lot, you might want something else.

Seems like a good printer, but it looks like it sucks ink. We've only printed about 6 or so pages, mostly black, and the ink gauges are already at about 75%.
