Pre-Programed to Shutdown after 5000 pages!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

IT STOPPED WORKING! Apparently EPSON programmed this printer to STOP WORKING AFTER PRINTING 5000 PAGES! This means after printing 5000 pages this printer WILL SHUT DOWN! Epson states it is the END OF SERVICE! Why and why didn't Epson state this? This printer gobbles up ink, only holds approx. 40 pages of paper, is very slow and NOT ECOMONICAL and CANNOT BE USED AFTER PRINTING 5000 PAGES!!!

    Best Printer

After too many substandard home printers, finally there is a functional, easy to use, high quality printer. Could not be more pleased. Works just as easily from a phone as a laptop or desktop. The quality of print is outstanding. Printing partial documents, double sided or photos is simple. So is the set up.

I really like the printer. The only disadvantage is I have apple products. All the directions on how to scan is geared towards pc’s. I still have to call to get help to learn.

I received what I was told expert advice from store representatives. I like the printer except it will not print 4x6 or 5x7 photos . that is supposed to be its major function, but every time time try to print these photo sizes it jams immediately. It works fine for letter size, but I am very disappointed don't to be able to print photos.

Not suitable for basic home use

I am an Epson fan, I have their pro level p900 and love it. But do not buy this printer. I know this review comes long after my purchase, but I'm finally giving up fighting with this machine. Bought this for the kids to print homework and for me to scan tax forms, but it has been nothing but a hassle. Finally headed to the trash. - Print quality on my unit has been unacceptable. I must be an outlier given seemingly 5 star reviews. Constant white lines and smudging on the edges - Printing in B&W uses up color ink. Printing almost entirely in B&W requires a complete set of costly color ink replacement. - Trying to manage cost of wasting ink, I switched to 3rd party ink. Worked for a while, now recent firmware update has bricked the machine unless I buy an entire new set of ink from Epson. I could have lived with the Epson ink requirement if not for the other two issues above. - scanning, when not bricked, has been the bright spot. I was able to upload directly to google cloud

can be difficult to use. too many "cool" features that are not necessary. motorized screen and paper tray. slow overall function. two sided printing usually causes paper jam. software updates are frequent and take long time to install. much better printers in this price range. would never buy this again, and will be considering printers other than epson from now on

    Lack of quality control

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Poor quality control. The power cord it came with keeps falling out and the power port where the cord plugs into is very loose. I plug the cord in and then move the printer in place but the slightest movement causes the cord to fall out. I tried reporting it to Epson customer service but they have been unresponsive. I couldn't return it to Best Buy because it was past the two week period. I ended up buying a universal plug to replace the plug it came with and the off brand plug fits better than the one it came with. Very disappointed, won't buy another Epson.

    Disappointed

I don’t usually write these as I always question their authenticity. However, this printer is an exception. I had an HP for many years and it gave me no problems until it just finally died. I bought this one in 2022. I have had numerous issues with it. Blotches on a regular basis. I can’t print a series as it will began blotching somewhere during the batch and I’ll have to stop it and run the print head cleaner. I have cleaned the rollers on numerous occasions to try and stop the blotching. Some pages will print great and some not. I’ve spent numerous hours literally trying to get this thing to work correctly, but to no avail. I would definitely not recommend it. I’m very disappointed and frustrated with this printer. On a positive note, I do like the printing on both sides feature.

Printheads and lack of single-cartridge mode

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm giving this printer 1 star for a couple of reasons: 1. Even though you can buy the cartridges individually, it requires you to have ALL of your ink in order to print. This means if you run out of i.e. blue (cyan), you have to replace it in order to print in plain black-and-white. 2. This printer has printheads built into the unit itself and isn't replaceable. This means if ink drys up and your printheads get clogged, you have to buy another printer. I'd recommend, instead, first: the HP Envy 7855 which has single-cartridge mode, replaceable printheads built into the cartridge, and instant ink. Second, for someone who doesn't care about single-cartridge mode or ink cost, the Canon PIXMA MX492 is a more affordable printer and has printheads in the cartridge, too.

Fabulous printer......until it wasn't. Short life

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have loved this printer! It prints high-quality prints, papers, and photos. Scanning and copying are a breeze. However, the ink is expensive and after less than two years it has died by giving me lines in every print, no longer printing all ink cartridges, and throwing error messages. It seems as though these printers have a very short life. I paid $280 in June of 2021 and in March of 2023, it is a goner. That is not cost-efficient. I suppose if you print very little then I would recommend this printer. I loved the large touch screen.

I really like this little printer. The print quality is good, and the scanner is fast. The problem is that I've now had two of these the both failed within a few months. Both had the scanner unit fail (half of the page is streaks).

    BEWARE!!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the worst printer I have ever owned. The ink runs out way too fast (even when I don't print pictures). It also forces me to replace the colored cartridges even if I am just trying to print in black and white. There should be zero reason why I should need to replace almost empty cartridges if they are not going to be used. And almost empty is a reach because when I take them out and shake them, I can hear and feel the ink still in there (When it says its empty). That's a huge flaw!!! The cost to replace the cartridges adds up and gets costly. I would rather pay $20 extra dollars and get the ecotank.

Bad printer, photos look really terrible compared to the printer I replaced (older Epson), scanner always has issues including printing lines on the scan even after restarts, loading paper and dealing with the automatic tray is maddening, and the thing also feels like it wants to fall apart. This is garbage. I am throwing mine away after just a few months.
