    Ink Hungry and lazy

    I have had the Epson 7100 for 2 years now. It is a terrible printer. It makes lots of groaning noise before it produces a printed sheet and absorbs ink like a hungry teenager. Lately I cannot even get the updates to work as I am suddenly asked for a password that it will not accept. Even though I have it wired to my computer it does not recognize my computer as existing when I try to scan a document. I would never buy another one.

    No aftermarket ink can be used

    FYI, you cannot use aftermarket ink cartridges with Epson machines. Any firmware updates make this a reality. This will double the cost of your ink.

Other brands of ink cartridges, and ink supplies, are not compatible, and even if described as compatible, may not function properly. Please ensure you have installed genuine Epson cartridges.     Honestly thought I would love this printer, I print a lot of papers, and scanning them in one at a time is time consuming. I bought this one thinking it would save me time. Well everything else works, BUT THE SCANNER!!!! I called customer support, they didn't do nothing except ask me the same questions I have already answered, took it in to geek squad (in best buy). The only answer I got from them was to call customer support.

    Ink Cartridge Not Recognized

    Basic printer. Cheap but good enough for home until it comes time to replace the ink cartridges. First time, ok. Second time with "genuine" Epson cartridges, it does not recognize the cartridge. I tried a second cartridge in case the first was defective. Same problem. 2 hours later and I still can't print and I have 134.00 worth of cartridges that won't work.

    This printer SUCKS!!!!!!!! It will not print onto CDs and anything thicker than plain paper gets jammed.

    This printer looks like it works great in beginning but buyer beware! It scans good, but print quality goes down hill quick with missing lines on documents, numerous trouble shooting, frequently cleaning printer heads and it uses way too much ink. I don't print a lot, mainly invoices and bills. It shouldn't use that much ink and ink is expensive. I expected more for the price. I would not recommend it.
