Finally scanning lots of old family photos at home is feasible. With the Epson FastFoto, what would take years to do with a flatbed scanner can now be done in a few days. Highly recommend this for anyone who needs to scan thousands of old photographs. Scans look really good at 300 or 600 dpi and faded photos are restored.

Fast for rolls and series of photos, and fairly easy to use. Takes some futzing around in software to accommodate snapshot vs archival quality scans, and also for Polaroids. Slows down when you have to do unique labelling of photos, but I guess that’s only to be expected. Would help to have AI for facial recognition etc. to help labelling more quickly, but maybe that’s a fantasy for now. I’m happy with it for faster scannithan a flatbed

I’ve been using the Epson FastFoto FF-680W to scan old family photos, and it’s been really solid. It’s fast, easy to set up, and I like that it captures both the front and back—especially helpful for saving notes or dates written on the back. The image cleanup is a nice bonus for older, faded photos. It is a bit pricey, but if you have a big stack to go through, it definitely saves a ton of time.

My first try at connecting the Epson scanner didnt go smoothly. I first tried connecting through a usb cord which may have been my problem. I uninstalled the software then reinstalled and went the wifi route and everthing went great. I was up and running in no time.
I am starting a new scrapbook project with my husbands army photos and the Epson FastFotoFF-680W Wireless High-speed Photo and Document Scanner System is perfect for scanning and uploading his pictures. I have scanned about every size photo there is and none got stuck. The software is going to be a huge timesaver. I'm including an example of a photo taken in 1982 that has aged over the years plus the version the software enhanced in just seconds. Scanning his documents were just as easy. I am very impressed and excited to get on with the rest of the projects I have been putting off for years.
I would recommend this scanner to anyone looking for a high quality product. You won't be disappointed. This is a review for the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Wireless High-speed Photo and Document Scanner System that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I just bought this scanner so can't speak to it's durability, but I can say that it was very easy to set up on my wifi. I was scanning photos within 45 minutes, and I'm not the fastest at these things. I was able to process a large number of photos which would have taken 3 or 4 times longer on our flatbed scanner. I love how this scanner's software saves the scans into subfolders based on information you enter before the scan. Over all, I am very pleased with this machine. Kind of pricey, but worth it to me considering the number of pictures I have to digitize.

I inherited roughly 300 pounds of aging family photos that were desperately in need of digitizing before they faded away. These photos are a chaotic mix of sizes and thicknesses from the 50s and 60s, making uniform stacking nearly impossible.
While I try to group similar sizes for the feeder, the stacks are never perfect. Occasionally, a smaller photo feeds at a slight angle, but it’s not a big deal. A quick crop in Apple Photos fixes it.
Is it perfect? Well, no. I had occasional jams and had to clean the optics on the scanner one time. But before this, I relied on a flatbed scanner. The sheer monotony of that process was so soul-crushing that I never actually made progress. With this device, I blew through 1,500 photos in under two hours. I still have three massive boxes to go, but for the first time, there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you have a mountain of memories and hate tedious work, buy this. It’s still a project, but compared to a flatbed, it’s a total game-changer. You won't believe how fast you'll finish.

Obsessed with this. So fast and the flexible sizing is great. I wasn't able to get it to connect wirelessly, but the cabled connection has been fine for the last two weeks. I think it's worth paying more upfront if you're scanning a large archive or using it over a longer period of time.

I'd like to start off saying, I normally scan negatives, photos and documents on a more involved scale such as 6400dpi average, using Photoshop CS and SilverFast. I do restorations and archival work.
With that being said... I'm happy we bought this scanner. It does a fine job. My wife and I scanned though hundreds of photos in under an hour. The quality was good and the scanner was easy to set up. (Make sure you follow the initial set up instructions VERBATIM.)
I learned the software and operation within 30 minutes of opening the box and setting it up.
I gave it 4 stars because the wireless connection sometimes drops and the search window opens to find the device. So far it has NOT happened during a scan. It is an inconvenience, but there's always that chance when using a wireless device. (This scanner also has USB connection.)
Also, because the "Organization" function is somewhat limited. We used a MacBook Pro and the save location is either Apple Photos App or choose a folder where you MUST create or choose a file name prefix.
The Auto Enhance feature is very good.
You have the Upload option for Google Drive or Dropbox.
Documents worked out very nice on this also. Epson provides a plastic sleeve for delicate papers. I scanned legal sized documents and they turned out really good.
In short, I do recommend this scanner. For us, the Pros outweigh the Cons. If you don't mind dropping $600, go for it. Today, I'm buying the Protection Plan for $99 because of the cost of any repairs, wear and tear or damage that could occur. Those things are covered.
Good Luck!

Easy to use right out of the box! Very nice scanning options with photo enhancements. Scanned 5k+ photos in two days! Included photo enhancements restored over exposed photos from 45 years ago instantly during scanning, it was pure magic. The price is up there but cheaper than sending them off to be digitized or even my time on a normal scanner one by one (that woudl of taken forever). Don't hesitate...you will be very happy. And did I mention they even include a clear scanning sleeve for those teeny, tiny photos?

This scanner is just what we needed. We have old photos that have writing on the backs. We didn't want to have to re-write everything in a description for each picture so were looking to see if they made scanners that scanned the front and back at the same time. WELL, this one does!!!! It was super fast to set up to our computers, (it works on more than one computer). We can stick up to 35 or so photos in the feeder at the same time and it takes them in and detects if they have writing on the back and if they do it scans the back along with the front. Wonderful!!!! The photos we have used so far are the 4 x 6 size. They look fantastic on the large computer screen. The scanner is compact and doesn't take up much space on the table it is on. It folds up for storage. I LOVE this scanner!

Go this to create a family archive. The old photo albums are falling apart. Oldest photo goes back to the 1930's.
Fast, If all pics are the same size can do 250+/hour, Can do basic corrections automatically. Does it well. Easy to use. Can name files by year, month, and topic. Can automatically create directories. Easy to rotate photos. Have done about 3000 photos in 25 hours which includes a lot of sorting and arranging photos in the same orientation.
Auto rotation does not work well if there isn't a good obvious sky. It feeds from the back of the stack so you think that is number 1. Its not. The front of the stack photo will be named number 1.
Can be used as a regular document scanner once you finish with all your photos.

This has been one of my best recent purchases. It scans at 3 different dpis and keeping it clean so far (over 1500 photos) has been a breeze. It also provides a second touched up photo option but I find that it is 50/50 whether the original or touched up is better. It also provides a scan front and back which works perfectly when you need it. This scanner has been a huge time saver. I can't say enough positive things about it. If you have over 30 years of photos, the hardest part is getting them organized yourself. It does its job simply, quickly and with the grace of a professional. Recommend highly if you have the need!

I am using this scanning system to save 5 generation of photos sitting in one of my bedrooms!! It took me an afternoon attempting to hook it to wifi. I finally gave up and plugged it in and it worked fine. FastFoto could be improved for categorizing, but once you get your categories made in FastFoto, it works pretty well. I like the ability to label photos and documents. Over-all it is excellent and worth the price!

Great Experience! organizes by date!

My favorite part of this scanner is how it batches all your photographs. when you click "start scan" on your computer, it prompts you to add the year, decade, month or season, and a brief description. it sequences the photos from there, and it scans the backside simultaneously! so the first photo is 1974_Summer_Aunt_Ems_Wedding_001_a and then if there is info on the back, it's saved as 1974_Summer_Aunt_Ems_Wedding_001_b.
THE SAME INFORMATION is used to embed the date in your photo metadata, so when you finally figure out how to upload it to iphotos or google photos, it's in chronological order! I have photos from the 40's, and they're grouped so lovely, i don't even bother putting them in seperate folders! it's easy to organize, and share with loved ones! My 80 year old grandparents are going to be so thrilled!

I came into the store very close to closing. I had talked with an employee earlier in the day, but he was helping someone else. I do believe a gentleman by the name of Patrick helped me. Answered my questions and worked with me to find the best scanner for my needs. I am a tax accountant that relies on efficient technology. This machine is lightening fast, scans a very clear document picture and rarely jams. Seriously. The best money I have ever spent with amazing customer service!!
I wish I could give it (and the Hutchinson, MN Best Buy) 10 stars!
