I am fairly happy with this scanner. The feeder works well and it makes short work of a stack of pictures. The ability to scan both sides of photos is nice, as is the ability to scan both sides of documents and save them as a PDF. Very handy around tax time. I haven't tried the OCR feature so I can't comment on that. I also like how small the scanner is. I have a flatbed scanner for serious photo/slide/negative scanning (4800dpi), and this scanner takes up less than half the desk space. My only knock on the scanner is the scan quality. There is some organized noise in dark regions of scanned photos. The image quality did get quite a bit better when I installed the latest firmware update however. I just don't know how it got out of the factory with the original image quality problems.

The best machine for lots of uploads

I can’t say enough good about this machine. I’ve used it on pictures ranging in size from wallet to 8x10. It does a great job. The software is easy to use and helps to organize the newly converted photos. My parents have stacks of old 35mm photos (most in 3x5 size). It is so awesome to be able to place 25-30 in the feed tray and watch them scan through at the rate of about 1 per second. It you only have a couple of hundred pictures to scan, a cheaper table scanner might be the way to go. However, if you have lots of photos to scan and demand a good quality result, it is hard to beat this scanner. Well made and easy to use!

Wow, wow, wow. holy cow! Works like a charm. I have put hundreds of photos through it so far and still have a lot more to go. It even does the panorama photos with ease. Definitely worth the purchase price if you have a lot of photos. It is so fast even on the 600 dpi setting that I use. The automatic touch up is great too; I save both the original and the touch up and it has a quick edit feature for rotating photos.

Thousands of photos to scan and so little time!

We have thousands of pictures to scan and little time to do it. This product is user friendly and allows us to scan in batches. We have no room for totes and albums full of pictures but they will all sit comfortably on our computer. Our cloud space and a 4 terabyte external hard drive give us secure back ups just in case. This project was so large that we were afraid to ever start it but with our FastFoto it is running smoothly. And when someone wants a picture, well it’s a matter of seconds instead of hours to locate and send it electronically. This unit is reasonably priced and does a fantastic job!

Great quality scans and fast! This device was worth every penny when scanning in countless amounts of family photos; literally saved me days, yes days! The software worked very well; only feedback is the auto color enhancement is a little funky, however is disabled by default and maybe it has it’s uses in some instances - not to worry though you can have an original scan and a second copy enhanced, not like you need to re-scan. Thank you Epson and the time you saved, did I mention it’s fast!

This little scanner has been a blessing to scan in thousands of family history documents and photos. Being able to scan the back and front is perfect. It folds to a very compact space saver scanner. It scans very fast and you can go through a hundred photos quickly. It will not scan above 8x10 so small documents and photos work perfect. That's fine since I have a large bed scanner. The quality of construction is great and expected for the price range. I did get a quick adjustment when it went on sale after my purchase. I love Epson products and have many on my home so this is a perfect addition that has already done so much and done it quickly.

Very fast, excellent quality scanning, even at 600 DPI. Feeder had only 2 misfeeds in over 1000 scans, and those were due to debris on the back of the photo from pulling the photo off old glue photo albums. Spent more time getting the photos off albums then I did scanning. Works with Mac OS Mojave, with new drivers at Epson.com right after Mojave came out, good for you Epson! Highly recommend. (I also have an Epson flatbed scanner V600, and while good for negatives and slides, it is slooooww for prints, I would have been senile before finishing my >1000 print project if I had to use the V600 for the project.)

Overall this is a great unit. The contrast of the scanned images is a bit higher than I had anticipated but the resolution is good and the speed is...well, amazing. For the project I am working on the speed is more valuable than absolute quality since I'm scanning photos that span nearly a century and over 5000 of them. I would definitely recommend this for any family archiver but would hesitate to recommend it for someone at the artistic level. Worthy of 5 stars all told.

Fast scanner than can scan a wide variety of materials. I've done photos, postcards, periodicals, and drug prescription receipts. The ability to scan both sides in a single pass is a blessing, although when scanning a periodical with pictures I do one pass scanning both sides with Scansmart, then scan the pages with pictures with FastPhoto and copy/paste the photos in using Acrobat.

So far I have been very impressed with the FastFoto FF-680W photo scanner. It is very fast and is easy to operate once you do it a few times. I have thousands of photos to catalog and I couldn't imagine doing it with a flatbed scanner.

It took me a while to get started on my scanning project, but now I wish I had started earlier because this scanner is so easy and fast. I have been scanning hundreds of photos from my photo albums. The feature that is most appreciated is that it gives an image of the photo as is, plus an enhanced image, plus an image of the back of the photo only if there are any notes written such as names, places etc. All 3 images in about 2 seconds. If you have decades of photos, I would highly recommend this scanner.

Great scanner for digitizing family photo archives

After some research, I purchased this scanner to tackle a large project to digitize several generations of family photos. In a matter of a few days I've scanned the first 3000, and am very pleased with the scanner's performance. After pulling photos out of old albums I can scan stacks of up to about 50 photos at a time in a wide variety of sizes, both color and black and white. I am using the option to automatically color correct photos, and it is working great even on old, yellowed, and faded color photos. Many of the resulting scans in both color and B&W look much better than the originals I was scanning. When there are notes written on the backs of photos, the option to scan the backs also is working well, though I've had to set it down to the most sensitive setting to make sure it picks up some fainter handwriting. It's been able to take most photo papers and even old newspaper clippings without jamming or issues, and the only things that have been challenging have been some thicker photo postcards which are very stiff. I will need to use a flat scanner for some of the old large format prints and a separate slide scanner for slides, but this machine is doing the heavy lifting on the printed photos. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.

This sheet-feed photo scanner is great! I've scanned a couple of thousand photos so far, mostly in stacks of up to 36 photos, and it hasn't jammed once. The software is good, but due for an upgrade - I mostly just used it to control the process, assign file names, etc., and then did any additional editing in another program. Overall, great package for digitizing all those boxes of old prints.
